  1. Duh. Sorry. I forgot about the WW2 weapons pack. That would certainly make it easier... I stand corrected. Thanks, Wrench.
  2. I would recommend taking a look at the knowledge base for SF2 maybe starting with this.... http://combatace.com/topic/44031-guide-to-converting-old-weapons-from-the-strike-fighters-1-series-to-the-new-plug-and-play-weapons-for-the-strike-fighters-2-series-by-migbuster/ Converting weapons from SF1 to SF2 is doable but it is not simply a matter of tweaking a few INI files. I agree you might want to take it to the experts at the A-team.
  3. OK. I'm in. Thanks for the heads up on this. In case anyone does not know. PE is available for a song at gog.com.
  4. I ran across an article by some guy named Tom Kratman. The article is called "Training for War." I don't know the guy's background but this statement really hit me the wrong way. (Italics are mine.) "It would be nice to be able to say that everything here will apply as much to women as to men. Sadly, I’d be lying if I said I believed that. I don’t. I do believe that it might, if we approached the subject of women in combat with half a grain of sense (see, e.g., my previous article for Baen, The Amazon’s Right Breast, as well as my novel, The Amazon Legion). But c’mon, that’s not going to happen, not with the PC lunatics having control of the keys to the asylum. What I rather expect to happen, though, is that woman are going to volunteer to stay away from combat arms in huge and overwhelming numbers, that most of those very few who do go combat arms will be – shall we say, charitably – a bit on the masculine side, and that they might well become just one of the guys, with as much interest in, say, chasing girls are any male grunt, ever." I have never served myself (for good or ill) but I know there are others here that have. That being said, I have had the honor of meeting some service women and, um, I got a MUCH better impression of them than Mr. Kratman. My impression is that women have wanted to serve for years and for many of the same reason as men. Sense of duty, love of country, a chance to better themselves... Thoughts?
  5. I am not sure you understand the problem entirely. There appears to be PLENTY of interest in SF downloads but folks don't necessarily see the need for a CA membership. I don't know if you can limit bandwidth for non-members. I think that might help. I also like the idea of a three-month subscription.
  6. Just reupped. I will hit you again as soon as I can. Long live CA!
  7. I take it you do not have Wings Over Vietnam? (SF1)
  8. They say they go in threes. Star Trek fans will remember Arlene Martel who played T'Pring in the original series episode "Amok Time" (one of my all time favorite). She passed away today as well of a heart attack at age 78.
  9. Very sad. RIP, dude.
  10. Holy Crap! Quite a story. Thanks for sharing.
  11. I went to the Offutt AFB open house this year. Watched the BAs perform but I was a little disappointed they did not do the Fat Albert JATO takeoff demo. Oh well......
  12. That's pretty cool. Congratulations!
  13. Congrats!
  14. Neat! Thanks!
  15. I would look in the sf1 downloads for the most current weapon pack. (I think there are some...:)) They struck me as easy to install... Maybe start with this.... http://combatace.com/files/file/8130-mirage-factory-weapons-pack-01252009/

My kind of review. Thanks, Dave.
  17. I think CFS3 is a good replacement for European Air War. You can just jump in a fly a decent mission. The graphics aren't up to today's standards but I can live with that. I have the MTO add-on which adds a lot of less "glamorous" aircraft like the Lysander. (Which can be easily copied into a used in your base CFS3 install,) If you have it it is worth installing own it's own.
  18. Greetings from Omaha. I have been there. My prayers go out to the folks involved.
  19. Very cool!!! Man, I need to get my self a proper WWII mod folder set up. :)
  20. Did you do a clean UNINSTALL? (including deleting folders and registry entries?) I'm not sure if you are comfortable working with REGEDIT...... Any luck on the TW forums? I have not had this problem but I did run into a day where all my SF2 exes would CTD. I don't do reinstalls per se. I back up my SF2 EXE folder to a zip file and just restore that. That got me running again. Are you sure you didn't have an anti-virus, spyware, etc. update sneak in somewhere? Just askin'..........
  21. Do you have all the required aircraft and such that the campaign references? I have not looked in a while but I thought the SF2 KAW was more of a "build it yourself" affair than the SF1 KAW mod was. Hopefully the campaign readme has details on what might be required. It really sounds like you might be missing some critical files.
  22. IL-2 has a unique collection of aircraft that I have not found for CFS3. I don't fly IL-2 online and tend to stay with ground pounding. Given that I think IL-2 does well. I still prefer to crank up CFS2 for my Pacific action fix. I am not a graphics snob. I think all three of these sims do just fine for my tastes.
  23. I absolutely love MAW and have managed to port some aircraft over to regular ol' CFS3. (Flying Lysander missions in Europe is a hoot.) CFS3 gets a lot of grief and I will admit I had to wait until I got a better rig to really run it well but overall it is one of my favorite sims. I picked up some good Firepower payware add-ons as well.
  24. You can try this while you wait. http://www.wcsaga.com A youtube review of sorts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCQ4YK8uxJ4&list=UUjseQ8q5jG1zHXFt7r3b7Dg
