      A-26C Skins Readme

These skins are for the A Team A-26C and are conversions of the skins created by J-P 'Graywolf' Demerlle for his GZR A-26C for MSFS.

Thanks must go to the following:

Graywolf for his work in creationg the skins (I just converted them for use in SF) and for his kind permission in allowing me to bring the skins to the SF community

Capun, for hooking me up with Graywolf in the first place and, with his A Team, for bringing us the A-26C to play with.

    4. F-22A "Chrome Raptor" skin, 422d Test and Evaluation Squadron

A Simple F-22 Tests New Coating, Spotted in 2022
      usage:
Put the 422TES_Chrome folder into Menrva's F-22 mod, then start the game once and select F-22, the game engine will automatically inject the skin
P.S. Since SF2 does not seem to support setting the material of some areas separately, I cannot restore the mirror effect of the coating in reality, so I set it to visually white.
The reflection effect is solved, but maybe you will notice that in many cases it looks a bit blue-gray, which we think is caused by the color of the reflected sky.

This is a set of alternative hangar screens for the F/A-18A Hornet add-on from the Mirage Factory and Flying Toaster.

All pictures used in this pack are from official US Navy sources and are publicly available.

      * N O T I C E *
      ***************

** BACK UP YOUR ORIGINAL FILES! **

In order to minimize the size of the download package, I have converted all the pictures to JPEG format.

** YOU WILL NEED TO CONVERT THEM TO BITMAP (.bmp) BEFORE THE GAME CAN USE THEM!**
There are many free programs that can do this, such as IrfanView.

** YOU WILL NEED TO RENAME THE FILES TO REMOVE THE ENDING "_#"!**
(Example: "FA-18A_HANGAR_7.bmp" will need the "_7" removed so it becomes "FA-18A_HANGAR.bmp")

Once converted and renamed, simply copy the desired file to the \Objects\Aircraft\FA-18A folder.

    9. SF2 Westland Wessex HU 5 (DAT)

      Westland Wessex Hu 5
      Royal Navy skin

A re work of the skin for the Wessex HU5 , the aircraft is originally from the A-Team site, so you will ( if you want to fly this aircraft ) have to obtain the files and lods from there,
This is a complete re do of the whole thing, as I was never happy with the colour, so I have corrected that, I have re drawn all the panels relatively accurately, I haven't bothered with rivet detail as to be honest it doesn't actually show up too well, I have corrected and updated ALL the stencilling, as the original effort was a dogs breakfast to be honest. I have also re done the decals and markings.
So what is included.........2 skins, one for aircraft from 848 NAS who were the squadron in action during the Falklands operation, and one skin for 845 NAS flying off HMS Bulwark in 1966 during the Brunei and Indonesia debacle. I have included the decals for both Squadrons, and also the pilots that I personally use, although green helmets were more the flavour of the day during the Falklands, so feel free to swap out the pilots if that is your taste.
A quick note about the shortfalls of these skins, the aircraft I believe was originally done for SF 1 so it is a little aged, therefore there are some clipping issues you may encounter, I am unable to do anything about this, in reality, we could do with a completely new model of this important aircraft, and hopefully one day it will happen !! So pretty much I have made a silk purse from a sows ear here, the aircraft itself. looks a little "off" I am sure there are some dimension errors, it doesn#'t seem tall enough, and it looks a little bit odd from the front view.....but I could of course be wrong, and the thing is perfect, but I doubt it. The stuff we all are getting used to like working lights and hatches......yeah ok.......not happening on this model, and I forgot to make lights work at least....oh well, such is life !!
Hopefully I shall do some skins for RAF HC3's next so watch this space for those.

      As always, ENJOY !!

      He 111 Skins Readme

These skins are for the various versions of the He-111 created by the Dev A-Team and modded by me. The skins are interchangeable between aircraft versions, but for historical accuracy you should install them to the appropriate model.

This skin is based on the work of Brian Hill for the Ground Crew Design Team He-111H series for CFS2&3.

To install, just extract the file to your Objects\Aircraft\He-111xx folder and go fly. It's that simple!

The skin should be available in the drop down menu of the He-111xx Hangar Screen loadout section.

    16. JG2 and JG3 decal update

These files update the decals for my Me109e skins. I inadvertantly uploaded files with miskeyed decal levels for the kill markings that would prevent them from showing. I also uploaded an old version of the JG3 decal folder that lacked the kill marking decals. My apologies.

Just unzip these to a temporary directory and copy and paste the enclosed decal.ini and D folder into the proper skins folders. These have been tested and do work.

    22. [Fictional] Hawker Hurricane 'Furacão'

Hawker Hurricane 'Furacão' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a simple mod of Raven's radial engined Hawker Hurricane to create a fictional 'Furacão' in service with the Poruguese Air Force in the 1942-1954 timeline.
      BACKSTORY
The Hawker Hurricane entered service with the Royal Air Force at the end of 1937 when No.111 Squadron re-equipped with the type at RAF Northolt. By late 1938 the production capacity for Hurricanes at the Hawker Siddeley Aircraft group of companies was sufficient not only to meet the needs of the RAF's ambitious expansion scheme but also sufficient to allow exports to Yugoslavia, South Africa, Romania, Persia, Belgium, Poland and Turkey. Belgium and Yugoslavia had both negotiated production licences but only a handful were produced by Avions Fairey in Belgium before the German invasion in May 1940 and in Yugoslavia the Zmaj factory managed to build 20 Hurricanes before the German invasion in April 1941.
At the start of World War 2, Portugal was keen to both maintain it's neutrality and also bolster it's defences - recognising that the Portuguese mainland was of strategic importance as was it's island territories of Maderia and the Azores. Indeed, both the UK and Germany considered invading the islands but British diplomacy won the day in June 1940 when the UK formally asked for use of the Azores by invoking the Aliança Luso-Britânica (Anglo-Portuguese Alliance) of 1386 which is still the oldest alliance in the history in the world that is still in force. In return, Portugal asked for a wide variety of defence equipment from the UK including "100 modern monoplane fighter aircraft". With the UK facing a desperate struggle the Portuguese 'wish list' was largely unfulfilled until much later in the war but in December 1940 the British government agreed to supply 100 Hurricane fighters by the end of the following year.
However, there was an urgent demand for Rolls-Royce Merlin engines for the RAF's day fighters and also for the Boulton & Paul Defiant and Bristol Beaufighter night fighters. In addition, RAF Bomber Command were about to go on the offensive with the Handley-Page Halifax having just entered service and the superlative Avro Lancaster and de Havilland Mosquito were both on the horizon. In February 1941 the British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, blocked the sale outright but Sydney Camm at Hawker considered that the Hurricane airframe could be adapted to take a different engine and Camm was already aware that Roy Fedden of the Bristol Engine Company had developed a modular engine installation or 'power egg' for the Bristol Hercules radial engine. Fedden and Camm quickly schemed the Hercules powered Hurricane Mk.III and instructed the Gloster Aircraft Company, who had been manufacturing Hurricanes for the RAF on behalf of its parent company since 1939, to slot in 250 Hurricane Mk.III's onto the Hucclecote production line. Whilst there was no Hurricane Mk.III prototype as such, the first two production aircraft were thoroughly tested by Gloster's chief test pilot Gerry Sayer and also by Bill Humble of Hawker's and both praised it's flying characteristics noting that "the aircraft is simple and easy to fly and has no apparent vices" although the stalling speed was 8 knots higher than a standard Hurricane.
The first 100 Hurricane Mk.III's were crated and shipped to Portugal arriving at Santo Amaro in November 1941. After local assembly, they were flown to Ota Air Base and Sintra Air Base to eventually equip six day fighter squadrons of the Aeronáutica Militar (Army Aviation) although, at the time, these squadrons (typically, with 15 aircraft on strength) were confusingly classed as 'flights' with two-digit flight codes that were used to designate the squadron. 'SU' Flight were the first to be declared operational at Ota in April 1942 followed by 'MP' flight at Sintra. In Aeronáutica Militar service the Hurricane aircraft were locally known as the Furacão and remained in service even after the formation of the Força Aérea Portuguesa in 1952 and it was not until August 1954 that the Furacão finally passed from service.
      INSTRUCTIONS
      1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the Furacao folder into your Aircraft folder.
      2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the Furacao folder into your Decals folder.
      3. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop the FuracaoTank into your Weapons folder.
      That's it!
      CREDITS
As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.
Special thanks to Raven for his awesome work on the Hawker Hurricane in all it's forms and for generously including his templates.
And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community.

    24. Mi-24 Armenia

Strike Fighters/Wings Over Vietnam/Wings Over Europe etc Mi-24 skins readme

All credit for these skins goes to their creators as detailed below. All I've done is to re-format them for SF\WOV\WOE and add a textureSet to each skin.

Not all of the countries for which we have skins are included in the standard NATIONS.ini list, so I've left those as Soviet. It doesn't make any difference to the skins' appearance as there are no decals to worry about. If you have the New Nations mod that includes these missing countries then feel free to modify the relevant TextureSet.

All you need to do is to extract the skin to your Objects\Aircraft\Mi-24 folder, then go fly and blow up some stuff.

Thanks must go to the A Team for making the Mi-24 for SF\WOV\WOE, Tim Conrad for the original Mi-24V, and of course TK for giving us these great sims to play with.

This skin is based on Mike Pearson's textures and converted with his kind permission.

      Enjoy, and good hunting
