+ravenclaw_007 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago (edited) i´m working since quite some time on the F-4F cockpits , my biggest problem is that i dont get any flight manual for the Peace Rhine and ICE versions , now i got some pictures from a F-4F Peace Rhine cockpit and was able to almost finish it i still have to do some animations and small items that are missing so i have now the early F-4F cockpit ( from 1973 onward ) and the F-4F Peace Rhine cockpit ( from 1985 onward ) next will be the ICE cockpit the ICE cockpit has a more advanced IFF control panel and a digital fuel quantity indicator and the 4 fuselage weaponstations for the AIM-120 , so still a lot of work F-4F cockpit 1973 the F-4F Peace Rhine is a big upgrade compare to the early F-4F cockpit , it has the DSCG radar with CCIP , the Shoot Lights and a more modern UHF control panel and the Weapons Panel that is used on the F-4E , one thing i only found on the Peace Rhine and the ICE version is the NBC Protection Blower no other F-4 version has that , so the german pilots hat some protection / filter system in case of a nuclear contamination F-4F Peace Rhine cockpit Edited 15 hours ago by ravenclaw_007 13
+ravenclaw_007 Posted 15 hours ago Author Posted 15 hours ago (edited) this are pictures from the NBC Protection assembly and a NBC filter used by the Luftwaffe , dont know if that is the " NBC Protection Blower " in the top picture i found an error , sombody used the NBC Protection Battery label instead of the NBC Protection BLower one , the picture below is from a F_4F at the JG74 airbase at Neuburg/Donau and shows the correct labeling Edited 15 hours ago by ravenclaw_007 3
+ravenclaw_007 Posted 14 hours ago Author Posted 14 hours ago with the Peace Rhine upgrade the F-4F got a special feature regarding the use of the AIM-9 Sidewinder , the pilot could chose between the SEAM (Sidewinder Extended Acquisition Mode) or SLAVE mode the SEAM (Sidewinder Extended Acquisition Mode) is a target acquisition mode for the AIM-9 Sidewinder missile that allows the seeker head to scan a larger area (often a grid pattern) instead of targeting a single point. This enables the missile to locate and acquire targets with a heat source (aircraft), even if they are not directly in the nose. This increases the probability of a hit by allowing radar or helmet sights to pre-initialize the missile or for it to search for targets independently the "Sidewinder Slave Mode" usually refers to the AIM-9 Sidewinder air-to-air missile, where a radar or helmet-mounted display acquires (locks) the target, and the missile is then guided to that radar track to "slave" the seeker—a form of radar-assisted target acquisition before the missile's infrared seeker takes over or the missile fires to track the target, often in conjunction with the helmet-mounted display (HMD). There is also an interpretation as a vehicle function (Sidewinder Mode) with all-wheel steering for diagonal driving, but the context strongly suggests the missile. to get the SEAM and Slave lights working and "simulate" the functions i use the SEAM light duringradar search operation , you will get the typicall sidewinder growl sound and the Shoot light will show you if you are in range to fire the missile you will not get the yellow lock on in the HUD , for the SLAVE light i use the Radar Boresight this way you get the Lock on in the HUD the sidewinder growl sound and in the radar scope the VC display for now the SEAM and SLAVE mode will only work with the AIM-9L , i dont think that the AIM-9B would support this function SEAM mode SLAVE mode if anybody has abetter idea how to simmulate this functions please let me know 12
