Rare photo of German F-104Gs during interception training circa 1979. On the left of the pic you can see tracer rounds fired by a third F-104G whose pilot left master arm ON by mistake. Ηe fired only a short burst before he realize his mistake and turned master arm OFF immidiately. Luckily all rounds gone ballistic and there was no friendly fire hit reported.

ok, 10th TFS Hahn AB West Germany. who wore it better? NATO Fighters 5 WIP (with proper serial for a Block 25, let alone the 10th TFS) real life, 1987

it's too bad that you can't do troops and a real helicopter FM. I haven't tried MSFS24 yet and seen some reviews of the flight model for it. A3 is better for helicopters as while it's not perfect, I like flying it a lot. I love SOAR stuff and wish we could do more. But nice work though, looks good.

In this screenshot you see the two types of buildings. The flat TOD buildings, which are connected with the terrain tile and the highrise buildings, which are LOD's and are set with the target editor. The first you cant destroy and you cant collide with them. The last you can destroy and, iirc, you can collide with them. Screenshot is from Rio de la Plata terrain. It shows Buenos Aires.

TOD buildings, that is those that are specific to tiles, have no collisions like you say. We recently got Mue's TOD editor that allows greater freedom in adding buildings of more complex shape (not just simple rectangles), but some 3d modeling skills are needed. Previously, TODs had to be made necessarily with TW's terrain editor which is a mess to work with, very prone to crashes. Only few mastered workarounds with it, including Stary who made such highrise buildings as TODs in his GermanyCE tileset repaints. Taller buildings are definitely possible. I would like to make new TODs for the terrain in the ODS 30AE mod, and while with Mue's editor now it's easy to create TODs, I lack 3d modeling skills for adding different buildings at once. Taking them from other tile sets and retexturing them is another possibility.

So yeah,SOAR's hawk, still need to investigate their correct number, other aspects, so far so good... Following SUDNAVY's suggestion, I'm trying to add a "static" aircraft, named "Gunner Target", that is completely invisible, but the AI gunner will recognize and fire at it. I imagine it could be used in pre-made missions, placed next to ground targets like troops, so that the AI gunner would appear to be strafing the ground, and maybe even hit these "real targets".

a pair of questons. 1 Where's the big number on their ass? all the FANG birds had two digit numbers up until the F-15 2 why are there so many Canuk Gooney Birds on the ramp in 1992?

That would be cool, but the fact is that it would mainly be infantry targets and maybe a convoy with miniguns, but the DAPs and the like would work for CAS and such.

Hell, I would gladly settle for GTAV's simple rotary flight model using mouse and keyboard to be somehow magically implanted into SF2's engine just to be able to zip around a battlefield blasting ground targets and then drop in sharp on a helipad / ship to re-arm.

I didn't want to participate, I am just curious. In many terrains, I don't see much high-rise buildings, most of them are low-rise bungalows. It's not that there are none, but it's rare. Is there anything that limits this? I have a few guesses: 1. Game performance issues; 2. They don't make sense because they have no collision; 3. This is correct based on the design era and background story of the terrain; 4. The community lacks available resources. Again, I'm just curious, after all I am not a terrain modder, so don't take it too seriously. If it's because of guess 4, maybe I'd be interested in that.

well i do have every A and C model (as well as the corresponding two holers) dialed in. it was just a handier transition to the Block 25s at teh moment the funky boss tails was a Germany thing, looking at Hahn and Ramstein... (coming soon. ish)

Something that really frustrates me a bit is the lack of scale in the buildings. I know there's a reason for that, they always seem far away, but when you put the aircraft next to the building, it looks like a miniature.

there are a few high rises, but they're 'objects', placed via the target ini. Not very convienent to use (frame rates?), as there's only 5 or 6 different ones *** All the other building are 'built into' each tile, just like the trees and bushes They do effect frame rates. And honestly, they're not really necessary. Unless we're building Manhattan Island... *** check the Persian Gulf terrain by yours truely, modded from the original.

I think as a Chinese, I am more familiar with the censorship system than you are, and I also know more about the harm of censorship (this harm is so serious that I have to use VPN to access the international Internet). I don't think your right to criticize the author should be hindered (except for personal attacks). In fact, as an ordinary user, I can't stop any of your comments. It's just my personal opinion that we should be more tolerant of beginners. I think giving effective suggestions is more helpful for beginners to improve their level than simple criticism. If my comments offend you, please forgive me. Please also forgive my poor English. Again, I am just expressing my personal opinion, and I think this is also my freedom of speech.
