    1. QF-100 Drone

      QF-100

      I made this drone mostly as spin off of other F-100 skins that the new Hgbn temps urged me.

      The daygloo paint is always pretty .....

      There are 3 skins inside the pack: red, orange and red silver tailed (my favorite).

      The fuel probe, the weapons and, of course, the pilot are removed.

      There is also a test mission engage the drone on the north sea with an F-4F

      (It comes towards you, so simply set the search radar at maximum range and wait).

      I have to thank:

      - Hgbn for his oustanding temps;

      - The wrench for his cockipit edits;

      - Storm for original SF-1 drone, I used as a guide

      - ChampionsVA56 for hangar/loading screens, hoping he will include this in his huge
      drone collection inside his great Mescalero proving ground.

      TO INSTALL:

      Simply put all in your main mod folder.

      You need my TuAF pack installed for showing nose/gear door numbers

      To fly the test mission mission You need SF-2 EU installed.

      To make the drone un-flyable go inside QF-100 folder, open QF-100.ini
      and change this:

      [AircraftData]
      AircraftFullName=QF-100 Drone
      AircraftShortName=QF-100
      AircraftDataFile=QF-100_DATA.ini
      UserList=QF-100_UserList.ini
      LoadoutImage=F-100D_loadout.tga
      //CockpitDataFile=QF-100D_COCKPIT.ini <-------------

      Happy trainings.

      34th Squadron "Black Bat"
      35th Squadron "Black Cat"

      A short history...

      The ROCAF/Taiwan's secret 34th Squadron's RB-69A/P2V-7U ELINT/SIGINT aircraft flew electronic reconnaissance missions over China and Vietnam. Overall, from 1953 to 1967, 34th Squadron flew 838 missions, 148 Black Bat crew members went down with 15 aircraft. A few were captured after being shot down and later released in Hong Kong. Last squadron's operational mission was flown on Jan. 25, 1967. After 1967, 34th Squadron stopped flying over and near Mainland China, and moved to special ops over Vietnam, until 1972. 12 members of 34th SQ also involved in CIA's Project Main Street in 1971 to 1972, involving tapping North Vietnam's communication link.

      The Black Cat Squadron was a squadron of the Republic of China Air Force that flew the U-2 surveillance plane out of Taoyuan Airbase in northern Taiwan, from 1961 to 1974. The formal designation of the squadron was the 35th Squadron, operating under the cover of a high altitude weather research squadron. 26 ROCAF pilots successfully completed U-2 training in the US and flew 220 operational missions, including 102 surveillance flights over the People's Republic of China.
      During the squadron's 14 years of existence, five U-2's were shot down by PRC air defenses, with three pilots killed and 2 pilots captured. One other pilot was killed while performing an operational mission off China coast. Seven other Black Cat U-2s were lost during training missions, killing 6 pilots.
      The squadron usually had only two U-2 assigned to it, sometimes down to just one aircraft. A total of 19 U-2s were assigned to the Black Cat Squadron, over fourteen years.
      The intelligence gathered by the Black Cat Squadron, which included evidence of a military build-up on the Sino-Soviet border, may have contributed to the U.S. opening to China during the Nixon administration by revealing the escalating tensions between the two communist nations. Shortly after Nixon's visit to Beijing, all reconnaissance flights over the People's Republic ceased, and the Black Cat Squadron was officially disbanded in the spring of 1974.

      This is my modified F-104G to the F-104S series (which I really like). In the late 1960s, Taiwan was looking at purchasing F-104S from Italy, the deal never went through. Only the Turkish Air Froce bought 40 F-104S from Italy.

    7. Royal New Zealand Airforce DH Venom Skin UPDATED 31/01/11

      Royal New Zealand Airforce DH Venom Skin

      For use with the SF2 DH Venom by Paulopanz found here http://combatace.com...11004-dh-venom/

      Instillation: Place files in apropriate location and allow to override (adds correct RNZAF years to Userlist.ini)

      History: Venoms were lent to the Royal New Zealand Air Force by the RAF to supplement the RNZAF’s Vampires and were used in the Malayan Emergency where they operated by No. 14 Squadron.

      UPDATED 31/01/11 RAF letters added to wing tip tanks after Pasko helped me out with the mesh names. However there is a small bit of bleed through on the bottom of the tanks from the decal. Because of this there are two folders in the download: One with the wing tip decals which is historically accurate. And one without the decals if you can’t live with the bleed through lol. You choose.

    9. SF2 Mescalero Proving Grounds Part 6

      The grand finale!! The last set of drones to complete your Mescalero range.

      -------------MEET YOUR NEW DRONES------------------

      QF-8A Crusader: Former Front-line USN Carrier based fighter. Converted to unmanned target drone beginning in 1973.
      An AGGRESSIVE drone of good manuverability and good countermeasures. Type expended by 1978.

      QF-4S Phantom II: Former Former Front-Line USN Carrier based fighter re-manufactured from the F-4J. An AGGRESSIVE drone
      of good manueverabilty and SUPERIOR countermeasures. Operated by detachment of VX-30 "Bloodhounds" out
      of NAS Point Magu, Calif. First use in 1990.....retirement is imminent.

      QRF-4C Phantom II: Former USAF recon-version of the Phantom. As supplies of figher F-4 airframes for drone use dwindle....some
      RF-4C's have been converted for use. A PASSIVE drone of good manuverability and good countermeasures.
      Operated by 53rd WEG out of Tyndall AFB, Florida. First used in 2007. Should be available until 2014.

      QF-16A: The Future of unmanned conversion drones. Next on the list as the last of the Phantom II airframes draws near.
      Conversion of F-16A airframes has begun in 2010. This will be an AGGRESSIVE drone of EXCELLENT manueverability
      and EXCELLENT countermeasures. Will be operated by 53rd WEG out of Tyndall AFB, Florida. Should be operational
      until at least 2020.

      F-84KX: Former USAF fighter.A small number of "obsolete" F-84B and C models were retired from ANG use and sold to the USN for use
      as target drones. Very little is known about actual use by the Navy. Your Thunderjet drone carries the colors of
      GMGRU-2 out of NAS Chichoteague,VA. An AGGRESSIVE drone of good manuverability and NO countermeasures. In use from
      1956-1965.

      AQM-28 Hounddog: Former USAF "stand-off" nuclear missile launched from the B-52. Retired from SAC in the 1970's and rebuilt
      for use as targets. A PASSIVE drone of poor manuverability, limited countermeasures BUT excellent acceleration.
      The target can and will quickly go supersonic to escape attack.

      --------------DRONE CONTROLLER-------------------
      DT-33A: USAF T-33 Shooting Star converted to drone controller. Long service life between 1950 and 1986!!
      DF-8F: Small numbers of F8U-1 Crusaders converted to drone controllers.

      ------------Hunter-Killer Aircraft------------------
      The "Original Crusader": The F8U-1 (F-8A)!!

      The first production version of the Crusader. First flight on September 20th 1955. A total of 318 airframes
      built between 1956 and 1958. The original order was for 448 aircraft but the last 130 were delivered as F8U-1E's
      (F-8B). Use of the Pratt and Whitney J57-P-4 engine made the F-8A a MACH 1.5 capable aircraft. Originally designed
      without them...the refueling system and sidewinder capability was added with the 50th production aircraft and retro-fitted
      to earlier models. The F-8A was armed with four 20mm cannon, thiry-two Mighty Mouse 2.75 inch FFAR in a hinged drawer
      below the fuselage and up to two sidewinder missiles on side stations. The AN/APG radar gunsight and fire control sys-
      tem was installed for weapons delivery.

      First USN squadron issued the new Crusader was VF-32 in 1957. First USMC squadron was VMF-122 the same year.

      Your F8U-1 (F-8A) carries the colors of VF(AW)-3 "Blue Nemesis" out of NAS Moffett Field, Calif. in 1957.
      Stay tuned to Combatace for my full release of the F8U-1 with over 10 USN and USMC skins to choose from!!

    12. SF2 Mescalero Proving Grounds part 2

      Welcome to the Desert Southwest of the United States of America. To be more precise.....you are in central New Mexico, home of the Mescalero Apache tribe. The year is 2011 and a new SF2 bombing range file is here.
      This is my attempt at creating the ULTIMATE place for SF2 fanatics to PRACTICE and MASTER their air combat skills. So put on your feathers and war-paint....grab your best horse..... and give it a try.......CHAMP

      Features:
      - Upgraded home airfield with additional facilities, additional runway and full lighting for night ops!
      -OVER 15 detailed target areas on the range for air to ground bombing,rocketry and gunnery practice. Numerous target types.
      - OVER 30 TYPES OF DRONES will challenge your air to air skills (or lack of them). Yes....you CAN fly the drones also!!
      - A detailed READ ME folder with INSTALLATION instructions, range overview, intel photos and of course CREDITS!

      Tested on all four SF2 titles......both stand alone and merged.

      This is part 2 (of 2 uploads to complete the range mod)
      First set of 8 drones and one drone controller included.

    13. SF2 Mescalero Proving Grounds Part 4

      The Apache Spirit Dancers have angered the God of the skies!! Here are more target drones for your new range. This is the next drone package release for the Mescalero Proving Grounds. Please be sure to have parts 1 ,2 and 3 already installed.
      INCLUDED with this package are the following NEW target drones and BONUS aircraft:

      THE QF-80F Shooting Star: Former front line USAF fighter of the Korean era. An AGRESSIVE drone of good manueverabilty
      but no countermeasures .Operated by permanent USAF detachment from the 82nd Aerial Targets Squadron.
      Type was fully expended by 1964.

      THE QF-106A DELTA DART: Former front line USAF/ANG interceptor. Retired and placed in AMARC storage,Arizona.
      Recalled for target drone use beginning in 1986 because of its availability
      and high performance. An AGGRESSIVE drone of fair maneuverability and good counter-
      measures. Type fully expended by 2005.

      THE AQM-136A Falconer II: Former Tacit Rainbow cruise missile(cancelled). . Originally designed as a stand-off weapon to saturate enemy air defenses. Re-designed as an inexpensive aerial target.
      A PASSIVE drone with poor manueverability. Low speed and limited countermeasures make it an easy missile target. Its small size HOWEVER makes it a difficult
      gunnery target! Air launched from drone control aircraft, it follows a pre-programmed GPS flightpath. Recovered by parachute unless destroyed.

      THE F6F-5K Hellcat: Former front line carrier fighter of the USN in WW2. Propeller driven. One of the first full scale conversion drones ever used. Operational from late 1940's until fully expended
      in 1960. An AGGRESSIVE drone of good manueverability and no countermeasures. Operated by permanent USN detachment from China Lake.

      THE QF-4G Phantom II: Former USAF SEAD aircraft (Wild Weasel).Retired and placed in AMARC storage,Arizona. Currently being recalled for target drone use as other Phantom types are expended. First drone
      use in 1998. An AGGRESSIVE drone of fair/good manueverability and EXCEPTIONAL countermeasures!! Operated by rotating detachment of the 53rd Weapons Evaluation Group, Tyndall AFB,Florida.
      Type should be fully expended or retired by 2011 as QF-16A becomes available.

      --------------DRONE CONTROLLER-------------------

      THE F9F-5KD Panther : Drone controller conversion of the F9F-5P Photo-recon Panther. Extended nose (once for cameras) allows excellent location for drone control equipment.
      Pilot can fully operate and/or assume command of drones via radio control. Operated on a limited utility basis from 1955 until 1965.

      As always: A FULL installation READ-ME and CREDITS enclosed.

      Use of the F6F-5K requires access to Geo's Aircraft download site. This access is however...NOT...required to use the Mescalero Range or any other aircraft/drone.

    14. SF2 Mescalero Proving Grounds Part 5

      Another flock of drones has been released by the Apache Spirit Dancers!!

      -------------MEET YOUR NEW DRONES------------------

      F9F-5K Panther: Former front line USN carrier based fighter. Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Retired and placed in service as target drones . An AGGRESSIVE drone
      with good manueverability but NO countermeasures. Operated by detachment of GRGMU-2 (Guided Missile Group Two) out of NAS Chicoteague,VA.
      Type fully expended by 1964.

      QT-33A Seastar: Former T-33A USAF jet trainers bailed to the USN as target drones beginning in 1965. Large numbers makes them very common as targes and expendable.
      A PASSIVE drone of fair manueverability and limited countermeasures. Operated by the permanent USN detachment out of China Lake. Type finally
      expended by 1982.

      QF-4N Phantom II: Former USN/USMC carrier based fighter and upgrade of the F-4B. Retired for drone use beginning in 1985. An AGGRESSIVE drone of good manueverability
      and EXCELLENT countermeasures. Operated by detachment of the NWTS (Naval Weapons Test Squadron) from NAS Point Magu,CA. Type expended by 2000/2001.

      QF-86F Sabre: Former JASDF from line fighter built under license in Japan by Mitsubishi. Sent to USA apon retirement and converted to target drones by private contractor.
      An AGGRESSIVE drone of excellent manueverability but limited countermeasures. First used in 1976. Expended or retired by 1989. Some survivors flown today in
      display at airshows.

      QF-59B Airacomet: First US jet fighter. Flown for only a short time in operational service before replaced by better aircraft(F-80). Some examples used as drones and/or
      drone controllers. An AGGRESSIVE drone of fair manueverability but no countermeasures. Short drone carrer from 1950-56 makes them rare.

      QB-17L Flying Fortress: Former USAAF B-17G bombers made famous in WWII. Retired in massive numbers at war's end makes them an excellent choice for bomber drone targets. A PASSIVE
      drone of poor manueverabilty and no countermeasures. A tough target however! Will take alot of punishment, especially from non-cannon type rounds such as
      50cal. slugs. A slow target makes for a collision danger for high speed fighters. USE CAUTION!! First deployed as drones in the late 1940's. Last use
      around 1958. (note: turrets were removed from target drones).

      MQM-107D Streaker: Purpose built subsonic drone of USAF. Uses an efficient turbofan engine pylon-mounted under fuselage. Its smokeless engine and small profile make it a hard
      to spot target. A PASSIVE drone of limited countermeasures. First used in 1987....still operational.

      --------------DRONE CONTROLLER-------------------

      SNJ-5 : More of an observation aircraft than controller. Pilot sits in front while a range safety officer uses the rear seat. Unarmed. Fun to fly!!

      ------------Hunter-Killer Aircraft------------------

      F-102A Delta Dagger (Hellenic Air Force): In the late 1960's, twenty excess F-102A's were sold to Greece along with a number of AIM-4 Falcon Missiles. These aircraft remained in service until at least
      1975. A few can even be found today....sitting derelict in the weeds at Greek air bases.....:{

      A full Installation and Credits read-me file is included.

      Use of the QB-17L and QF-59B require access to the A-team Skunkworks download files. This access is however...NOT...required to use the Mescalero Range or any other aircraft/drone.

    21. Top Gun A-4F 'Super Fox' for Strike Fighters 2 UPDATED 27/01/11

      Top Gun A-4F 'Super Fox' for Strike Fighters 2

      UPDATED 27/01/11

      - Correct angled refueling probe added along with a landing light thanks to wilco's mods to my A-4N
      - minor data.ini updates
      - Opening canopy 'shift' + '0'

      This is the modified A-4 Super F used as an Aggressor aircraft by the US Navy Fighter Weapons School (Top Gun) from 74 till 94. The Super F (Super Fox) was the ultimate adversary Skyhawk as it was equipped with updated J52-P-408 engine giving 11,200 pounds of thrust.

      The Super Fox also had its avionics hump and associated equipment stripped reducing its weight and giving it an impressive better than 1:1 thrust-to-weight ratio.

      Other modifications included the wing slats being bolted closed and removal of the cannons. However for the game I have kept the cannons and increased the rounds to 200 per gun (same as the A-4M) to give you a bit more dog fighting time :)

      I have retained the countermeasure dispensers as I couldn’t find any information indicating they were removed but with no ECM or RWR I would advise you to avoid being engaged at beyond visual range haha.

      Included with this aircraft is a Top Gun instuctor pilot skin.

      Best way to enjoy this bird is to set up a guns only dogfight with the mission editor and go head to head with a few Tomcats.

      INSTILATION: Drop files in to appropriate folders, override when asked to.

      NOTE: Has only been tested/used in a merged install of ALL SF2 titles

    22. F-4M Desert

      Please read update below if you have installed Jan 2011 Patch, Update......

      A fictional skin for ThirdWire’s SF2 F-4M so you have to have ThirdWire’s SF2 F-4M in game or it will not work.

      Just copy into your F-4M folder, stock folder, will only work in ThirdWire's F-4M Folder. Uses stock lods, decals and weapons by Thirdwire.

      Thank You to TK and Thirdwire for the games.

      To CombatAce for a place to upload and download files.

      Warning, again if you do not have ThirdWire's SF2 series games with an F-4M, the skin will not work.

      James Fox.

      21/01/2011 Update;
      ---------------------------
      Warning,

      If you have not patched to Jan 2011 and do not have a game with Thirdwires F-4M, or you have not downloaded my skin, then this will not work and you do not need to do this.

      This is a fix-up for my RAF Desert skin. All you have to do is copy and paste this F-4M folder into you Thirdwire Aircraft folder. It will prompt to overwrite, let it, it should not effect anything but correct a folder naming conflict.

      Thirdwire has released a new skin of their own to the F-4M folder with the Jan 2011 Patch which has the same name as my Desert skin. So I have renamed my Desert skin and included the correction to add Thirdwires new skin as it should be.

      Skin Folders should look like this when you are done;

      DESERT
      RAFCAMO1
      RAFCAMO2

      Plus the F-4M configuration file which I have also corrected to correct my error.

      Sorry for the inconvenience but I should have known better and not followed Thirdwires naming conventions.

      PS, I have included a little decals edit which allows stock serial numbers to be shown on Thirdwire F-4M models fuselage only.
      For some reason Thirdwire has not included them on the fuselage, they are only on the underside of the wings.

      Thanks to TK, Thirdwire and CombatAce.

      James Fox.

    23. POTEZ 633 B2 Royal Romanian Air Force

      Potez 633 B2
      Royal Romanian Air Force

      Contracts for two batches of 20 Potez 633 B2s were issued by the Romanian government and the first order was delivered in 1939. A new bomber group was set up for the new aircraft, Group 2, which included the 74th and 75th Squadrons.

      On June 21 1941, Group 2 was placed under alert and at 20:00 Romania entered the war alongside Nazi Germany. In September 1941 another nine 633s from the Armee de l'Air d'Armistice were delivered. In September 1942 the 633s were operating over the Don and Stalingrad and were split between:
      - 1st Long Range Reconnaissance Squadron
      - 3rd Long Range Reconnaissance Squadron
      - 74th Light bomber Squadron

      By spring 1943 the remaining 633s were withdrawn from combat and delivered to 1st Fighter wing for night flying instruction.

    25. VF-32 F-14A Mig Killers 1989

      F-14A_82 VF-32 Swordsmen Skin by Dave

      On the morning of January 4, 1989, the Kennedy battle group was operating some 130 km north of Libya, with a group of A-6 Intruders on exercise south of Crete, escorted by two pairs of F-14As from VF-14 and VF-32, and as well as an E-2C from VAW-126. Later that morning the southernmost Combat Air Patrol station was taken by two F-14s from VF-32, AC207 (CDR Joseph Bernard Connelly/CDR Leo F. Enwright 159610 AC207) and AC202 (LT Hermon C. Cook III/LCDR Steven Patrick Collins 159437 AC202). The officers had been specially briefed for this mission due to the high tensions regarding the Carrier Group's presence; the pilots were advised to expect some kind of hostilities.

      At 11:50 hrs, after some time on patrol, the E-2 informed the F-14 crews that four Libyan MiG-23s had taken off from Al Bumbaw airfield, near Tobruk. The F-14s turned towards the first two MiG-23s some 50 km ahead of the rear pair and acquired them with radars. At the time the Floggers were 72 nautical miles (133 km) away at 10,000 ft (3,000 m) and heading directly towards the Tomcats and carrier. The F-14s turned away from the head-on approach to indicate that they didn't want to engage. The Floggers changed course to intercept at a closing speed of about 870 knots (1,000 mph, 1600 km/h). The F-14s descended to 3,000 ft (910 m) to give them a clear radar picture of the Floggers against the sky and leave the Floggers with sea clutter to contend with. Four more times the F-14s repeated this maneuver, still tracking the Libyans. At 11:59 the Radar Intercept Officer (RIO) of the lead Tomcat ordered the arming of the AIM-9 Sidewinder and AIM-7 Sparrow missiles it was carrying. The E-2C had given the F-14 crews authority to fire if threatened; the F-14 crews did not have to wait until after the Libyans opened fire.

      At almost 12:01 the lead Tomcat RIO said that "Bogeys have jinked back at me again for the fifth time. They're on my nose now, inside of 20 miles", followed shortly by "Master arm on" as he ordered arming of the weapons. At a range of 14 nmi (26 km) the RIO of the lead F-14A fired the first AIM-7M Sparrow; he surprised his pilot, who did not expect to see a missile accelerate away from his Tomcat. The RIO reported "Fox 1. Fox 1." The Sparrow failed to track because of a wrong switch-setting. At 10 nmi (19 km), he launched a second Sparrow missile, but it also failed to track its target.

      The Floggers accelerated and continued to approach. At 6 nmi (11 km) range the Tomcats split and the Floggers followed the wingman while the lead Tomcat circled to get a tail angle on them. The wingman engaged with a Sparrow and downed one of the Libyan aircraft. One of the US pilots broadcast "Good kill! Good kill!" The lead Tomcat closed on the final Flogger from the rear quadrant and at 1.5 nmi (2.8 km) the pilot fired a Sidewinder, which hit its target. One crewman broadcast "Good kill!" and "Let's get out of here." The Libyan pilots were seen to successfully eject and parachute into the sea, but the Libyan Air Force was unable to recover them. The Tomcats then proceeded north to return to the carrier.
