    2. Weapons Pack for MiG-23/27

      Weapons Pack for MiG-23/27 (Upgated 13.08.2009) {Update: BVP-50-60 texture bug fixed.}

Readme update 14.08.2009: PTB-800 can be download HERE http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=6976

This pack contents New weapons, ini entries, data.ini, loadout tweaks for MiG-23-27 planes series.

Pack will be used for some my new mods.

New data ini, loadout.ini's required, because specific stations codes used for some weapons.

      Notes:

      - Kh-66 can used on MiG-23S only, Mig-23MS can't use Kh-66 and Kh-23

      - in RL Mig-23 palnes can use only 2 R-23(24)R or R-23(24)T on glove stations, R & T can't be used on same time because, need CU change on Radar (used CU N1 for R, or CU N2 for T).

      - CM dispensers used since 1982-83, can be mounted on all 23's

      - MLD has no ECM on RL, ECM pod was build, not for tests only.

      - Early 23's used Dlta control pod (need for use Kh-23) on wing, but since MF,ML used Delta-2NG pod on fusellage station.

      To install

      - open weapondata.ini

      - remove weapons: R-3R,R-13M,R-60M,R-23R,R-23T,R-24R,R-24T,Kh-23**,Kh-25**,Kh-27PS, if exist.

      - copy weapons for weapons folder.

      - click 'Merge' use MiG-23_27_weapons.ini

      Weapons list:

    3. Mig-23M Fighter Cockpit (First Mass Production Version) with working Mig-23M HUD V1.5

This is the SFP1 series cockpit (version 1.3) for the first mass produced Mig-23 version, the Mig-23M of the Mirage factory. Download the Mig-23 package here:
      http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=5211

Mig-23M cockpit additions made by Richard "Pitts2A" Ordway, Starfighter2, lindr2. Thanks to Armour Dave and Sal for the cockpit

For SFP1 series. For Mirage Factory Mig-23ML. You need the latest patch updates from Thirdwire. Tested on Windows XP and not Vista. However it might work on Vista too.

This is the Mig-23M cockpit in a very dark Russian green color (from photos)and modded to the Mig-23M standard from Armourdave and Sal's Mig-23 powder blue-colored cockpit.

I repainted it and added some details, placards, new switches and instruments from color photos.

Starfighter, with massive help from Lindr2, made the brilliant, indespensible Mig-23 M-specific HUD while I had hit a brick wall trying to make an accurate Mig-23 HUD work. They also made the new avionics.ini.

      http://www.acig.org/artman/publish/article_184.shtml

The Mig-23M first flew on June 1972 around the time of the Viet Nam War.

It was produced from 1972-1978 and reportedly had a total of more than 1,300 planes built.

Its avionics suite was improved over the preproduction Mig-23S (Flogger A) and was probably the first VVS fighter to have limited look-down/shoot-down capabilities and be effective in the BVR (beyond visual range)environment.

It's radar, when working, was reportedly generally equal to the F-4J's.
In actual air-air combat against a well trained enemy, the Mig-23 proved it was historically capable of killing other maneuvering and aware fighters.

However, it had such maneuvering restictions that dogfighting was almost suicide.

IN SFP1, I find, that if you stay fast at treetop level, you can pop up and dispatch even an occasional F-16 and be away before you get killed.

Thanks to Armour Dave and Sal for the cockpit.
Thanks to Starfighter2, lindr2 for the Mig-23ML HUD which has stymied modelers until now that I know of.
Thanks to the Mirage factory for the Mig-23ML downloadable as a pack from combatace in the pack called Mirage Factory MiG-23 "Flogger" Series.

If I forgot anyone, I appologize and please tell me.
      ----------------------------------------------------------------
The Mig-23 had incredible strengths and incredible weaknesses.

WEAKNESSES: For weaknesses, most Mig-23s never could turn or roll very well compared to its enemies and had very heavy controls. Its roll was hurt by its control system (spoilers and a diferential tail and the disconnection of spoilers at any but 16 degrees).

In close in combat it was a deathtrap because unless the pilot stayed within certain tight maneuvering limits, it would often lose control and simply crash. Its cockpit visiblility was one of the worst of any fighter. Visibility is life in a dogfight.

It had slushy controls in many areas of its flight regime and its nose would often hunt back and forth. Its unpredictable accelerated stall was often taking ones life into ones hands if attempted. It also had the typical Soviet disadvantage of a very short range. There are reports of its radar not working much of the time and it often not being mission ready.

It is hard to use an aircraft if it is not working.

Red Eagles, Steve Davies "Flying the Mig-23"

      http://books.google.com/books?id=6yJ8gfVAm...lt&resnum=4

It is true that later versions had much improved handling/systems. However, I understand that maneuvering limits still existed.

      http://www.flightglobal.com/pdfarchive/vie...20-%200508.html

STRENGTHS: For advantages, it had one of the best accelerations of any frontline fighter with its swing-wing swept back (even by today's standards).
It was incredibly fast at tree top level and could sustain that high speed at low level whereas most other fighters had such a rough low-level ride as to be unsustainable.

Another advantage was its incredible climb rate (for its time) of around 45,000 feet/min ("Fighters", Mike Spick). In other words, it was well suited as an interceptor.
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------
      Directions:

      1) Back up your Mig-23M folder .

      2) Now secondly download this other additional Mig-23 package from the Mirage Factory and install it (the Mig-23M will not work without it):
      http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=5211

      2) Just put this whole filefolder Mig-23M contents into the Mig-23M aircraft folder .

      3) When asked to overwrite say yes.

      Enjoy!

      ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Version 1.1- I added some warning lights on the main dash and subtracted the threat panel. I subtracted the warning light panel on the side panel and put in a warning panel as per photos. Finally, I added a round threat panel on the far right. The change is quite remarkable for accuracy.

Version 1.2- I made the directions more clear thanks to user feedback. I added one more panel according to photos.

Version 1.3- I added an .ini so that it would be easier to install with the .70 avionics already included. I upgraded the radar to the later Sapfir-23D-III radar (the Mig-23 apparently had three versions of differing strength).

Version 1.4 -I added knobs under the warning light panels after refining techniques from the Mig-27 series cockpits.

Version 1.5- I redid the avionics.ini because some people were having problems with the HUD appearing.

    13. F-4C_1966 Da Nang & Phan Rang AB

F-4C 1966 – Da Nang & Phan Rang AB - By Crab_02 and Mike Druzolowski

**Notice - this package is for the die-hard rivet-counting historian. No colorful squadron markings or tailcodes onthese planes as they flew during 1966**

Please contact me for any problems or issues - we'll do our best to correct them and make this even more authentic for what's to come. PM me at Combatace or E-mail at mppd@att.net please.

I made this package for the post-October 08 patched version for Wings over Vietnam (which is what I'm flying). Textures are 1024 pixel resolution to help frame rates on modest systems (like mine) - so view the external views at arm's length, not extremely close-up please. Versions for SF2 with higher resolution textures are sure to follow.
My sincere thanks (in addition to Crab and TK) go to Sundowner - who originally shared his F-4 texture templates with me and what I started with originally, and also to drdoyo for his 1024 templates which helped, Ravenclaw_007 for the kind permission to include his super Martin Baker ejection seat in this package, and to Old Diego for kind permission to include his superb pilots, and to X Ray who did the superb pilot repaints (and whose name was forgotten in the original readme of the 1965 version).

Description: The airplane depicted is the Air Force F-4C as it appeared in 1966, after the first USAF three-tone camouflage scheme was field-applied - Navy LAU-17 pylons with adapters for A/G ordnance were still in evidence (as per the 1965 package), no radar homing and warning antennas nor all of the small antennas added later on. Four styles of 370 gal drop tanks are available - both old McAir and later Sgt Fletcher style, in either all-white or camouflage. The planes have the initial camo paint scheme applied to the early F-4Cs (still with the Navy-style LAU-17 pylons) and typicaly had the rear fuselage camouflaged all the way to the drag chute door. Aircraft often carried a minimum of stenciled markings.

      New features include:
*New vertical stab and rudder shapes
*New nose radome and IR sensor housing shapes
*New detailed pylons and Sidewinder rails
*New 3D model cockpit (mostly invisible though...)
      *New nose wheel doors
*Animated air refueling door (Shift + 8)
*Opening canopies of course (Shift + 3)
      *New horizontal stab bases
*New early McAir and later Fletcher wing tanks (with pylons that correctly jettison along with the tank) plus new centerline 600 gal tank with retained pylon
      *Numerous small detail changes

(Note that all textures for the stock Thirdwire F-4s can be made to fit with minor alterations - watch leading edge flap, vertical stab/rudder and intake splitter plate locations mostly.)

Issues: I used many parts that I already had built, so separate bmps are included for the pylons, nose and rails - these should have been combined into one I guess.

Historical bit: TAC's 366th TFW at Holloman AFB, NM transferred one Phantom II squadron to PACAF in 1965, the 390th TFS (officially transferred to PACAF's 6252nd TFW at Da Nang as of 29 October 1966), and arriving ca. 17 November (moving with grey/white F-4C aircraft, which were soon field-painted in the new three-tone T.O.1-1-4 camouflage scheme). Photos of these recently camo'ed aircraft show undersurfaces untouched and still retaining the large star and bar and USAF. The unit was joined at Da Nang by the 480th TFS as of 01 February 1966, which arrived already painted in the new camouflage scheme. As of 08 April 1966 the 390th TFS was assigned, and the 480th TFS was attached to the 35th TFW at Da Nang. Due to overcrowding at Da Nang, the other Holloman F-4C squadron - the 389th TFS, (which had been deployed TDY to Elmenfdorf AFB, Alaska in late 1965) moved with already-camouflaged F-4Cs to Phan Rang AB along with the transfer of the 366th TFW to PACAF as of 14 March 1966 (although with none of the same airplanes it flew in Alaska). As of 10 october 1966, all three squadrons were again re-united at Da Nang under the 366th TFW.

Color photos are somewhat rare for these airplanes during 1966, but it seems that the last two serial number digits may have been painted in red on the front nose gear door for all three squadrons. (It is possible that the squadron color was eventually used during 1966, but I have no evidence of this yet). There is some variation from plane to plane as to vertical spacing on the tail of the "AF" and the serial number, so I have tried to reproduce this. Several 480th TFS F-4Cs had the serial presentation as "USAF" instead of the more common "AF" as well. Stencilled markings varied from a lot to a little.

Notes about the flight model: Basically the default post Oct 08 patched data.ini, but I have modified the landing gear rolling coefficient to have a bit more drag (the plane will not move by itself and take off like a rocket when the brakes are released!), I have reduced the wheel braking effect so that a few taps will not make the thing stop on a dime (however they will not hold the plane in place when the power is brought up to over 78% - adjust as desired), I have increased the nose gear spring factor to give it a bit more of that “springy” feeling when the brakes are applied, and I have increased the speed brakes effect to a more realistic effect (to me). The original values have a triple slash in front of them, so modify as desired if you don't like my changes.

Cockpit notes: Uses the stock post Oct 08 patch WOV cockpit, but I have added a sight reticle which is a brighter orange - matches photos I have seen a bit better I think.

    14. F-4C_1965_Version2

      F-4C 1965 Version 2- By Crab_02 and Mike Druzolowski

***This corrects several small issues. I have also included serial numbers for a third unit – the 45th TFS, which is famous for getting the USAF’s first mig kills in Southeast Asia. Please overwrite all previous files. Sorry for any inconvenience!***

This project started out with my early attempts to make the stock WOV F-4s a little more authentic. Crab_02 eventually contacted me and kindly shared his Phantom II update project with me, which is what this is based on. All credits go to him, without his basic work, help and guidance in learning 3D modeling, I never could have come this far. Our continued thanks to TK and Third Wire to allow us continued freeware development of his work.

This first model will form the basis for every subsequent F-4 variant that flew in Southeast Asia (and hopefully, beyond).

Description: The airplane depicted is the Air Force F-4C as it appeared in 1965 during its combat debut in Southeast Asia - Navy LAU-17 pylons with adapters for A/G ordnance, no radar homing and warning antennas nor all of the small antennas added later on.
      New features include:
*New vertical stab and rudder shapes
*New nose radome and IR sensor housing shapes
*New detailed pylons and Sidewinder rails
*New 3D model cockpit (mostly invisible though...)
      *New nose wheel doors
*Animated air refueling door (Shift + 8)
*Opening canopies of course (Shift + 3)
      *New horizontal stab bases
*New early McAir and later Fletcher wing tanks (with pylons that correctly jettison along with the tank) plus new centerline 600 gal tank with retained pylon
      *Numerous small detail changes
(Note that all textures for the stock Thirdwire F-4s can be made to fit with minor alterations - watch leading edge flap, vertical stab/rudder and intake splitter plate locations mostly.)

Issues: I used many parts that I already had built, so separate bmps are included for the pylons, nose and rails - these should have been combined into one I guess.

Historical bit: Five USAF F-4C squadrons of Tactical Air Command rotated TDY to Southeast Asia during 1965 as follows:
*45th TFS, 15th TFW MacDill AFB TDY to Ubon RTAFB April to August 1965
*47th TFS, 15th TFW MacDill AFB TDY to Ubon RTAFB July to November 1965
*68th TFS, 8th TFW George AFB TDY to Korat RTAFB August to December 1965 (acft remained
to form the 433rd TFS at Ubon)
*431st TFS, 8th TFW George AFB TDY to Ubon RTAFB August to December 1965 (acft
remained to form the 497th TFS at Ubon)
*43rd TFS, 15th TFW MacDill AFB TDY to Cam Rahn Bay AB October 1965 to January 1966
All originally carried the gull grey/white scheme as factory applied - similar to the Navy F-4B but with markings differences (especially no intake walkways or splitter plate turbine warning markings). The FJ- "buzz" numbers were removed from all aircraft USAF wide from ca. September 1965, and then the three-tone camouflage scheme was locally applied in SEA from November 1965 through ca. January 1966. The 68th TFS aircraft are depicted as they arrived at Korat (with FJ- fuselage buzz numbers and TAC vertical stab insignias). The 431st TFS is depicted as aircraft looked at Ubon late in 1965, after the buzz numbers were removed and several had the TAC insignia removed as well. Few personal or squadron markings were seen.

Notes about the flight model: Basically the default post Oct 08 patched data.ini, but I have modified the landing gear rolling coefficient to have a bit more drag (the plane will not move by itself and take off like a rocket when the brakes are released!), I have reduced the wheel braking effect so that a few taps will not make the thing stop on a dime (however they will not hold the plane in place when the power is brought up to over 78% - adjust as desired, and I have increased the speed brakes effect to a more realistic effect (to me). 19. F-100D (64) Pretty Penny for SF2V

      F-100D 'Pretty Penny' (481TFS) skin for SF2V:

This skin is for Thirdwire's stock F-100D_64. It represents a single F-100D of 481st Tactical Fighter Squadron.
"Pretty Penny" was flown by 1/Lt. Peter Vanderhoef and 1/Lt. Gerry Sloame. It was named for Sloame's wife.

      INSTALLATION:
Unzip and put the Objects folder into your SF2V mod directory.

      KNOWN ISSUES:
None, but the original kills marks for AG are missing (you'll get the ones for AA kills instead) and the markings are in black instead of insignia blue.
The latter issue won't be fixed, since both sources show black markings.

      1º, "Buildings&trees for euro WW2 SPRING".
      2º, "Water For EuroWW2 SPRING".
3º, "City tiles for EuroWW2 SPRING".

    23. Hawker SeaFury F.10

Hawker Sea Fury F.10 mod for SF/SFG/WoV/WoE - WW2/Post War Installs

      06 Patch Levels =ONLY=!!!

This is another of those mods that have been languishing on my hard drive for a loooooong time. I just figured, now's the time to finish it off, and release it.

This is a mod of the existing Sea Fury FB.11 into the earlier F.10 version, that almost saw action in WW2.
This is to be considereded as a "Beta ++" version, as there are most likely issues still remaining to be resolved (what they actually are, I don't even know!)

The reasoning behind the labeling as a "plus-plus", as there is a certain 'incompletness' about the aircraft. It's just that it was never actually finished when originally released, and therefore probably has some flaws. Meaning: the aircraft WAS originally released as a Beta, this mod moves it "up" one notch, to plus-plus. Confused yet? Good! Me too!

This mod creates a whole new aircraft, seperate from the normal Sea Fury FB 11.

This is a complete aircraft, with all items needed to pretty much unzip, install, and fly away. 3 Hangar Screens are included, one my Original Old Style artwork one, and a new WoE-style Carrier Deck with the historicl skin, and the What If BPF skin. All are usable in any verions of the sim. You can choose whichever you like the best. Although, right now it's set up for the Carrier Deck version, with the BPF 801 skined aircraft, as this is designed for a PTO WW2: 46 kinda thing.
The aircraft is fully carrier capable, making it usable in Campaigns or user-built Single Missions

The skin/decal set represents 802 Squadron, FAA, Royal Navy in late 1947/early 1948. This skin reflects markings of the immeadate Post-War time frame, with semi-historical serial numbers. I say semi-historical, as my data only gave me a few pictures to base off of, and from the actual production run of the F.10. These would be a good addition for a "Cold War Gone Hot: 1947" type of scenario.

      And......

For you "What If..." players for WW2: 46 Pacific, a special skin for 801 Squadron, as would have been used by the British Pacific Fleet for the Reduction and Invasion of Japan. Assuming a hurried introduction, this adds another aircraft for the Fleet Air Arm to use. 1947 is given start year, in keeping with historical fact. Those wishing to create the 'rushed into production' feeling, may change the StartYear= to 1946. This may give you the opportunity to engage with the best the IJAAF/IJNAF had to offer, in the fictional world of WW2: 46.

-= NOTE: You MUST have the WW2 Weapons Pak to get the WW2 weapons and guns and such =-
-== This aircraft has been tested in SF/WoV/WoE Patched to 06 Levels, as well as post 9/08 & 10/08 SF/WoV/WoE/WoI. It has not, however been tested in the SF2 series. There still are some serious 'issues' with this aircraft's flight model. You use it in these Post Patch Environments and SF2 NextGens at YOUR own risk. It's reccomended usage is for versions of the game at the 2006 level ONLY. ==-

Simon's original readme is included, for historical purposes.

As always, unzip this to a temp folder somwhere, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions.

    24. P-82B Twin Mustang, PTO

      P-82B 'Twin Mustang'

What If... mod for WW2 PTO SF/SFG/WoV/WoE -06 Patch Levels ONLY!!!

This is a modification of Pasko's F-82G into something for the "What If..." worlds of World War II: 1946, in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. This mod will recreate the P-82B "Twin Mustang" Long Range Day Fighter version, had it gone into full procduction for use against the Japanese Home Islands.

This is a COMPLETE addon aircraft, with all necessary parts included. A new skin, based off the original templates, represents aircraft from the 46th Fighter Squadron, 21st Fighter Group, based at Ie Shima, Okinawa in 1945 till wars end. Colors and markings are historically correct for the 46ths P-51D/H Mustangs, just adapted for TwinMust useage, and the serial numbers are also correct for P-82B as they were assigned to the 380 aircraft that were cancelled at the (historic) war's end. Twenty actually entered service, but that's a tale for another day.

As can be expected, some small changes have been made; mostly to create a 'day-only' version. The avionics.ini has been edited to remove the search/track radar, while leaving the audio-only RWR intact. All lighting has been updated, with the addition of a landing light (albeit on the wrong strut...), and the 3 underwing formation/identification lights seen on all Mustang variants. The FM remains essentially intact as issued, although some tweeking is requied, as the aircraft seems about 50-75 knots slower than it's Real Life ™ counterpart. Other than that, it handles quite well!!

= IMPORTANT: This aircraft has been tested ONLY in 2006 Patch Levels SF/WoV/WoE. Be advised of the existence of some handling issues prevelant in WW2 era and many Pre-Patch (ie: 06 level and eariler) aircraft being used in the post 08 patch enviroments. It is NOT reccomended for use in WoI or SF/SFG/WoV/WoE in these post 08 patch game installs. It is also NOT reccomended for use in the SF2 NextGen series. If you insist on doing so, you do so at your own risk. No support is available from me for any issues you may experience. You have been warned/advised...

=IMPORTANT x2: You WILL need the WW2 Weapons Pak (or equlivant BunyPak of 06) to get the WW2 weapons, bombs and such. The P/F-82 rocket racks and drop tanks already exist in that pack, but have been included here as a "just in case" for those needing them for some other pack.

The WW2 Weapons Pak is available at CombatAce at the following URL:

      http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=8495

As always, unzip this to a temp folder somwhere, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions.

      Happy Landings!
