Sea Harrier FRS.2

Sea Harrier FRS.2 for SF2 V1.1
******************************************
This update by Wrench, DTMDragon and myself brings the SF1 Sea Harrier FRS.2 upto SF2 standards. This has been designed to work on everything from any of the Stock Games (May '12 patched) including SF2:NA to a fully Modded install with NATO Fighters IV etc. The new weapons are standalone and will not affect other weapons packs, however you may see other weapons from your pack are available. Please use the ones labelled "Royal Navy (WEAPONS NAME)" (they're all grouped together for ease of use) as these have all been designed and/or modified for this Sea Harrier release specifically, even though the Weapons may seem to be identical to ones you already have.
Installation
-------------
Unzip then copy and paste these folders into your Mod folder (usually C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 or whatever yours is called).
AIRCRAFT
------------
Aircraft Specific Info -
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Sea Harrier FRS.2 (1993-2006) - Used by the Royal Navy primarily for Fleet defence although it does have a useful, if limited, Strike/Anti-Ship capability. With it's immense power to weight ratio it accelerates/decelerates like a sports car and is 9G capable with a sustained 7G turn possible. Sadly the lack of money meant that the weapons loadout was fairly limited yet, for it's primary task, the Blue Vixen radar mated to the AMRAAM system proved to be world class.
OTHER INFO
-----------
Loadout Screen -

If you want to add the 2 Belly AMRAAM's (Group 5) in place of the gun pods (Group 4) then you also have to add the Belly Pylons which are also in Group 4 and they will replace the Gun Pods.
Issues & Optional Files -
---------------------------
Refuel Probe - Sadly this was never skinned in the original model and with the new high resolution skins we now have it looked truly terrible and just didn't work so we've removed it until such time as a new one can be made and added via Fake-Pilot.
Optional Files - 2 different Hanger/Loading Screens, just copy/paste them into the aircraft folder.

Sea Harrier FA4 2007-2020 "What-If"
By ianh755
********************************************************
"What If" - Sea Harrier FA.4 for SF2 V1.1
********************************************************
This is my "What If" version of the SF2 Sea Harrier FRS.2 I helped update with Wrench and DTMDragon.
Shortly before the paperwork scrapping the Sea Harrier FRS.2 was supposed to have been signed a Secret memo came from the US DOD claiming that its replacement, the F-35, was going to be much delayed, probably until 2015-2020. Rather than leave the Royal Navy toothless for a generation the decision was made to upgrade the Sea Harrier to FA4 status as a stop-gap until the F-35 was ready.
As well as a new cockpit, strengthened wings, improved avionics including a new ECM jamming suite and a slightly upgraded Air to Air weapons suite the Navy now decided that it needed it's Aircraft to have a precision capability if was to play any part in any possible upcoming conflicts. By this point the technical boffins at the MOD had upgraded the RAFs precision strike armoury with some World Class munitions, which gave the Navy access to these new weapons allowing it to greatly expand the previously limited strike role of the Sea Harrier. The newly designated FA4 (Fighter/Attack) will lead the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy into a bright future which makes the descision to scrap them look short-sighted.
This has been designed to work on everything from any of the Stock Games (May '12 patched) including SF2:NA to a fully Modded install with NATO Fighters IV etc. The new weapons are standalone and will not affect other weapons packs, however you may see other weapons from your pack are available. Please use the ones labelled "Royal Navy/RAF (WEAPONS NAME)", they're all fairly grouped together for ease of use. These have all been designed and/or modified for this Sea Harrier release specifically, even though the Weapons may seem to be identical to ones you already have and may include upgrades to my previous weapons packs.
Installation
-------------
Unzip then copy and paste these folders into your Mod folder (usually C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 or whatever yours is called).
AIRCRAFT
------------
Aircraft Specific Info -
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Sea Harrier FA4 (2007-2020) - Originally used by the Royal Navy primarily for Fleet defence this upgrade makes it a truly multirole weapons platform with a world leading capability. With it's immense power to weight ratio it accelerates/decelerates like a sports car and the new wing makes it 10G capable with a sustained 8G turn possible.
OTHER INFO
-----------
Loadout Screen -
--------------
If you want to add the 2 Belly AMRAAM's (Group 5) in place of the gun pods (Group 4) then you also have to add the Belly Pylons which are also in Group 4 and they will replace the Gun Pods.
Sniper Pod - As this is the F-16 Chin Sniper pod in the loadout it shows up on the centreline but in-game it's where the right gun pod would be. The stock loadouts which require the Sniper pod also have the Left gunpod included which isn't possible through the In-Game Loadout Screen.
There is a nice update in 2015 when the RAF Meteor Air to Air Missile becomes available.
Issues -
---------------------------
Refuel Probe - Sadly this was never skinned in the original model and with the new high resolution skins we now have it looked truly terrible and just didn't work so we've removed it until such time as a new one can be made and added via Fake-Pilot.
Cockpit - There's no nozzle gauge and the Weapons locations on the Left MFD can be a bit glitchy.

In 1988 the Mirage fleet was upgraded by IAI at the Maintenance Command (CAMAN) in Madrid Air Base. They received Kfir-C.7-style canards, flight-refuelling capability and a new navigation and fire-control systems. The fleet was further upgraded during 2001 to include night vision systems and laser-guided weapons. The resulting aircraft has been designated 5COAM. In October 1996 the remaining 5COR recon version was converted into a standard 5COAM, after having its recon equipment removed. By 2004, the FAC had lost seven Mirages in separate incidents.

Mirage IIIO ROSE PAF
Mirage IIIO ROSE PAF
Install - Need Update July 2012 and DLC Mirage IIIO
33 of the ex-Australian Dassault Mirage IIIO/D aircraft of the PAF were modified to ROSE I standard. The cockpit was modernised with a new head-up display (HUD), "hands on throttle and stick" (HOTAS) controls and new multi-function displays (MFD). New navigation systems, including an inertial navigation system and GPS system, were also installed. Defensive systems upgrades consisted of a new radar warning receiver (RWR), electronic countermeasures (ECM) suite and counter-measure dispensing system, dispensing decoy flares and chaff to confuse enemy missiles and radar.
In 1991, the PAF bought 50 Australian Mirage IIIO/D, 45 of which were refurbished and put into PAF service. The FIAR Grifo M3 radar was then to be fitted to 33 of the Mirage IIIEA/DA fighters which were procured from Australia, following on from the earlier ROSE avionics upgrade integrated by Sagem. It was stated that ROSE I fighters could easily be in service beyond 2010. In early 1999 it was stated that problems in "certain parameters - and errors in certain modes" had surfaced during flight trials of the Grifo M radar in the Mirage III, but these were later solved.
45 of the 50 Dassault Mirage III fighters received from Australia were found to be suitable for service with the PAF, 12 of them were overhauled at PAC and made operational. After being inspected, the remaining 33 were selected for upgrade under Project ROSE. In June 1998 the cockpit upgrades for the 33 Mirage III fighters was completed, including installation of multi-function displays (MFD), head-up display (HUD), HOTAS controls, radar altimeter and a Sagem nav/attack system. The Grifo M multi-mode radar was installed later in a second phase of the upgrade project.
The integration of a new Italian fire-control radar, the FIAR (now SELEX Galileo) Grifo M3, gave Mirage III ROSE I fighters the ability to fire advanced beyond visual range (BVR) radar guided air-to-air missiles. PAF's standard short range air-to-air missile at the time, the AIM-9L Sidewinder, was integrated with the Grifo M3 radar.

Mirage IIIO Rose I Pakistan Air Force
Install - Need Update July 2012 and DLC Mirage IIIO
Project ROSE (Retrofit Of Strike Element) was an upgrade programme launched by the Pakistan Air Force to upgrade old Dassault Mirage III and Mirage 5 aircraft with modern avionics. In the early 1990s the PAF procured 50 ex-Australian Mirage III fighters, 33 of which were selected after an inspection to undergo upgrades. In the first phases of Project ROSE the ex-Australian Mirage III fighters were fitted with new defensive systems and cockpits, which included new HUDs, MFDs, RWRs, HOTAS controls, radar altimeters and navigation/attack systems. They were also fitted with the FIAR Grifo M3 multi-mode radar and designated ROSE I. Around 34 Mirage 5 attack fighters also underwent upgrades designated ROSE II and ROSE III before Project ROSE was completed. The Mirage III/5 ROSE fighters are expected to remain in service with the PAF until replacement in the mid-2010s.

Mirage 5BR Belgian Air Force
Install - Need Update July 2012, DLC Mirage IIIO and DLC Mirage IIIBA
(Includes two versions)
The Dassault Mirage 5BR is the Belgian licence-built version of the 5R (reconnaissance) Mirage variant. The 5R is broadly similar to the older IIIR from which it is derived, and conversion of the aircraft to an attack reconnaissance role proved equally straightforward. One notable difference is the chisel nose, which contains cameras instead of radar. The optional twin cannon pack is usually carried, and other options for armed reconnaissance included a reflector sight and low altitude bombing system. Most of the aircraft in Belgian service were retired during the mid-1990s

Mirage IIIRS Swiss Air Force
Mirage IIIRS Swiss Air Force
Install - Need Update July 2012 and DLC Mirage IIIO
The Swiss Mirages are equipped with RWS, chaff & flare dispensers. Avionics differed as well, with the most prominent difference being that the Thomson-CSF Cyrano II radar was replaced by Hughes TARAN-18 system, giving the Mirage IIIS compatibility with the Hughes AIM-4 Falcon AAM. Also the Mirage IIIS had the wiring to carry a Swiss-built nuclear bomb or French nuclear bomb. The Swiss nuclear bomb was stopped in the preproduction stage and Switzerland did not purchase the French-made bomb. The Mirage IIIS had an integral fuel tank under the aft belly; this fuel tank could be removed and replaced with an adapter of the same shape. This adapter housed a SEPR rocket engine with its liquid fuel tanks. With the SEPR rocket, the Mirage IIIS easily reached altitudes of 20,000 m. The rocket fuel was very hazardous and highly toxic, so the SEPR rocket was not used very often. The Mirage IIIRS could also carry a photo-reconnaissance centerline pod and an integral fuel tank under the aft belly; this carried a smaller fuel load but allowed a back looking film camera to be added. In the early 1990s, the 30 surviving Swiss Mirage IIIS interceptors were put through an upgrade program, which included fitting them with fixed canards and updated avionics. The Mirage IIIS were phased out of service in 1999. The remaining Mirage IIIRS, BS and DS were taken out of service in 2003

Mirage IIIS Swiss Air Force
Mirage IIIS Swiss Air Force
(two versions)
Install - Need Update July 2012 and DLC Mirage IIIO
In 1961, Switzerland bought a single Mirage IIIC from France. This Mirage IIIC was used as development aircraft. The Swiss Mirages were built in Switzerland by F+W Emmen (today RUAG ) (the federal government aircraft factory in Emmen) as the Mirage IIIS. Australia too, bought, one French-made in preparation for licensed production. Cost overruns during the Swiss production led to the so-called "Mirage affair". In all, 36 Mirage IIIS interceptors were built with strengthened wings, airframe, and undercarriage. The Swiss Air Force required performance comparable to those of carrier based planes; the airframes were reinforced so the aircraft could be moved by lifting them over other aircraft with a crane, as in the Aircraft cavern in the mountains that Swiss Air Force uses as bunkers, offer very little space to maneuver parked aircraft. Also, the strengthened frames allowed for JATO assisted takeoffs. The main differences to the standard Mirage III were as follows:
New wiring of avionics with U.S. electronics
Changed cockpit design with gray instead of black panels
New U.S. radar, TARAN-18 from Hughes
Use of HM-55S "Falcon" (Swiss designation of the from SAAB in Licence built Robot 27 (Rb27) which is similar to the Hughes AIM-26 "Falcon")
Radar warning receiver (RWR) on both wingtips and on the back of the rudder
Strengthened structure for use of JATO-Rockets
Retractable nosecone and lengthened nosewhlle leg for storing in underground air base
Four lifting points for moving aircraft in underground caverns with a crane
Bay at the fin with a SEPR rocket engine to double the velocity for short time or climb to 20 000 m (60 000 ft)
US TRACOR AN/ALE-40 chaff/flare dispenser at the back under the end of the engine (fitted with the upgrade 1988)
Canards designed and produced by RUAG Aerospace(fitted with the upgrade 1988)
New Martin-Baker ejection-seat (fitted with the upgrade 1988)
The Swiss Mirages are equipped with RWS, chaff & flare dispensers. The remaining Mirage IIIRS, BS and DS were taken out of service in 2003.

F-103 Mirage IIIEBR Brazilian Air Force V.2.0
F-103 Mirage IIIEBR Brazilian Air Force
Version 2
Install - Need Update July 2012 and DLC Mirage IIIO
The F-103 Mirage IIIEBR represented a tremendous leap to the Brazilian Air Force, being over thirty years of service and more than 65,000 flying hours.
The versions of Mirage III acquired by FAB were developed primarily for air defense missions, but keep some capacity to act as platforms for ground attack.
The engine was a SNECMA ATAR 09C, whose maximum thrust with afterburning reached 13,900 pounds (6305 kg), leading the aircraft a maximum speed of Mach 2.2 (2,350 km / h).
The fire control system was based on radar Thomson-CSF Cyrano II, which originally operated the integrated air-to-air missile infrared Matra R530, later replaced by Israeli missile Python III.
As arms fixed, the aircraft was equipped with two 30 mm DEFA. For navigation, the Mirage III FAB type Doppler systems used. In the early '90s, the FAB joined the Squadron's missions Jaguar air-ground attack, starting to use free-fall bombs and rocket launchers.
