    Might be time for you to jump into modding. I have no idea if it can be done but you could try replacing the TMF instrument with the Thirdwire instrument.

    I have meant for a long time to say how much I appreciate your work on EAW. It has always been one of my favorite sims and to have it be playable in this day and age is just amazing. One of my prized possessions is the original printed manual for the game. They don't make them like that anymore. Keep up the good work!

    I liked it's equivalence to European Air War in terms of being able to jump in and fly a quick mission or dig into a campaign. I know people say it's "lite" compared to something like DCS but I think as a COMBAT sim it really excels at delivering that experience. I really don't like DCS for a lot of reasons I won't go into here. Let's just say it is not my go-to sim. If I want a FLIGHT simulator I will go with MSFS or X-Plane. Easy to play, easy to mod, great community, great mods. What is not to like from a easy to access COMBAT simulator?

    My only complaint is Steam distribution. That's just a personal opinion and is not a reflection on the quality of the game in any way. Steel Beasts really needed some competition as well IMHO. I have been waiting for years for a Steel Beasts "non-pro". GHPC really fits that bill. And I STILL play M-1 Tank Platoon 2!!

    GOG always gives you an options screen that allows you to specify the install folder.

    Always GOG, at least to start with. I hate Steam DRM. I do know people complain that GOG does not keep stuff updated as well as Steam. I'm not sure that would be true with EAW as much as other games. My 2 cents.

    I've often wondered if thrust vectoring could be used to simulate a chopper. I can't believe I'm the first one to think of this. I just don't know enough about SF2 flight models to say for sure. Might be a retirement project for next year. :) It does feel like some choppers I've downloaded seem to do better than others. People make it sound like the YAP team or the A Team might have some secrets used for their helos.

    I'm going to make sure my latest version of BMS is backed up somewhere. If they try to improve the sim in the spirit of the original Falcon, more power to them. If they go the TW route and go all arcadey on me I will probably pass.

    I have the same issue with Win10 and SF1. It must be a directx issue. I don't have a good answer for you but I share your pain. SF2 runs like a bat outta hell as does FE2.

    See screenshot. What do you have the various graphics options set to? "Unlimited" is an option but it takes some really beefy hardware to run that way. Like Migbuster said, try setting everything to LOW and see what happens.

    Age of the laptop? Is it overheating? You mention resolution. Are you running any graphic options at UNLIMITED? It sounds a lot like a card issue. IMHO.

    No special software just Windows Boot Manager. Here is an article that can get you started. https://www.techadvisor.com/article/728246/how-to-dual-boot-windows.html There are plenty more examples out there in internet land.

    Interesting project. I don't remember the preferred graphics driver for this? D3D? Glide? You may need to google around for a graphics wrapper depending on what graphics settings can be selected. For games like this I have a multiboot rig so I can run Win XP and Win 7 native rather than under a VM. Not sure if you have that option. Sorry I can't be more help at the moment.
