    2. WOV Air & Ground War Expansion Pack Gold - Terrain Update

      ------------------------------------------
      WoV A&G Expansion Pack: New Terrain Items
      for Older Expansion Pack Installations
      ------------------------------------------

      This package contains an updated set of terrain files for users of the WoV Expansion Pack who installed the original Expansion Pack distribution from December 2009 and all the subsequent updates through the "Feb. 2010 Refresh." It was created to bring older Expansion Pack installations current with the "updated" Expansion Pack files that were released early March 2010 without forcing users to download the complete set of "updated" installation files.

      - If you downloaded and installed the Dec. 2009 version of the Expansion Pack and also installed the "Feb. 2010 Refresh," then this update package is for you.

      - If you downloaded and installed the Dec. 2009 version of the Expansion Pack but did NOT install the "Feb. 2010 Refresh," then you can upgrade to the most current version of the Expansion Pack *only* by downloading the complete, updated set of installation files. You can find the three part set of updated Expansion Pack installation files here:

      Part 1:
      http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=10281

      Part 2:
      http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=10282

      Part 3:
      http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=10300

      - If you downloaded and installed the WoV Expansion Pack on or after 3 March 2010, then this update package is NOT for you -- the "updated" Expansion Pack files from March 2010 already contain all the files from this update.

      ~~~~~~~~~~~~
      Installation
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~

      To install this update, simply copy the contents of the \To_Install_Dir directory to your WoV Installation Directory. In other words, drag and drop the \Terrain folder to your WoV Installation Directory, overwriting as prompted.

      That's it. You should be good to go.

    4. ****World War Two period music for SF2****

      ****World War Two period music for SF2****

      Ever since I first attempted a WW2 install for SF2 many moons ago, I have strove to make it as much "period" as possible. Of course, the music on each screen was modern and didnt fit in with WW2 in my estimation. I decided to try to locate some music from the era. Well, it wasnt hard at all! My first search located a wonderful plethora of websites and stations that still play and love the era and its music. It was all quite fun and interesting. Out of them all, my favorite has quickly become the VI corps music website located at http://www.6thcorpsmusic.us/. This is only a small part of a website put together by a woman in honor of her father who fought during WW2 in the 6th engineer corps.
      I was able to download a number of songs from this website, my favorite being Glenn Miller, and convert them to .wav format for use in SF2. Install is simple. Just unzip the file into your StrikeFighters2 folder. Let it overwrite your menu folder. For the hangar music, I have included my hangarscreen.ini. As long as you havent extracted yours from your SF2 install for any other purpose, simply do nothing. If you have extrated it for whatever reason, its still simple. Just open the ini in a txt editor and add this...

      BackgroundMusic=HangerMusic.wav

      And there ya have it. Hope you enjoy this music as much as I do. If not, visit the VI corps website and download and convert your own favorites, it was fun! Of course, this is oriented towards U.S. tastes at the time. I'd love to see a German, British, or even Japanese version of menu music come out. The .mpg files can be converted here... http://media.io
      These music files are considered public domain and are released under the CombatAce Freeware Licensing agreement. You are free to modify these files and use them as you wish as long as the files are not used in payware of any kind. If you use them, please remember to give credit. These files are released to a great community of simmers at CombatAce and SimHq. Have fun and God bless.

    5. Infantry_Squads with smoke

      Infantry Squad with Smoke

      First credit goes to Kesselbrut for his Infatry squad files.

      Secondly Papa Goat for his "Pop Smoke" idea.

      I expanded on Papa Goat's idea of using a single soldier with smoke. I basically took the stock US_Squad and Soviet_Squad by modifing the X_Squad_data.ini file to have the smoke deployed.

      These squads will "throw" fire their smoke at any ground object designated "ENEMY". That way the squad still can fire its normal assortment of weapons and still mark enemy targets.

      I have tested this on random generated CAS missions in SFP1 and WOV. Anytime a squad is generated during a mission, each squad will deploy their smoke at the nearest enemy target.

      Mind you, it's not perfect but I think it gives a great effect.

      I've only built one smoke color for the Soviets. The US squad can select from 4 colors Red, Green, Violet (Purple) and Yellow. You have to manually select the color you want them to use by removing the "//" in the data entry line.

      Installation:

      1. Make a back up of the original squads just in case you don't like this mod.
      2. Add the two squads to the GroundObject folder.
      3. Drop the effects into your EFFECTS folder.
      4. Add the bulletobject data to the BULLETOBJECT file.
      5. Add the gundata to the GUNDATA file, open the guneditor and click on one weapon, then click SAVE.

    6. SF2NA Ultimate Carriers Pack

      SF2NA Ultimate Carriers Pack

      This package collects a large number of aircraft carriers available at CombatAce, puts them into one package with semi-standardized data tweaks, numerous error corrections, complete SF2NA conversions, and touched up or overhauled skins. Also included are several new carriers based on existing models. This package is thus designed as an ultimate one-stop shop for all carriers available at CombatAce, exclcuding USN and Soviet carriers.

      Please note that there are no new models in this package. All models included here have been released before on CombatAce. Indeed, most (but not all) of carriers included here have been released previously with rudimentary SF2NA conversions applied.

      So, why re-release these carriers in this package? This package brings several new things to the table, including:

      - corrected DATA.INIs (basic ship data, catapult data, angled deck configuation, etc.)
      - several tweaked or significantly overhauled skins
      - indexed decal sets to represent various carrier classes
      - several newly created individual ships (usually to represent particular carriers
      at specific stages of their service lives)

      The majority of the ships here are Royal Navy carriers, though you will also find carriers from Canada, Australia, India, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and France.

      Please read the remainder of this ReadMe carefully, as important instructions regarding installation and use are included below.

      What's Included
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      This package includes 34 different carriers, which are organized by carrier class or by nation (in the case of France, Italy, & Spain). Some of these carriers are set up to represent entire classes or partial classes, with decals indexed by ship number.
      Please note that you may find several different versions of the same carrier, each configured to represent the same ship at a different stage of its service life.
      There are also several fictional or "faux" carriers.
      Installation Requirements
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

      All of the carriers included in this package are configured for use with "Strike Fighters 2: North Atlantic" (SF2NA). Thus, for any particular install you plan to use one of these carriers in...

      - SF2NA must be part of the install base (even if other SF2 titles
      such as SF2V or SF2E are also merged into the install)
      - the game .EXE you use must be either the main SF2NA executable
      (StrikeFighters2 NorthAtlantic.EXE) or a re-named copy of it in
      the case of custom mod installs.

      If you try to use these carriers in an install that does not conform to the above requirements, you will likely find your aircraft sinking into or falling through the carrier deck.

      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      Installation
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

      All of the files to be installed can be found in \To_Mods_Folder. The task of installing the various bits included here is fairly straightforward. For any particular install that you want to install carriers to, do the following:

      1. Install the supporting files

      Supporting files include all the files found in the following folders, which should be copied or moved to the corresponding folders in your Mods folder:

      \Effects
      \Flight
      \Objects\Guns
      \Objects\Weapons
      \Sounds

      Please note that the \Flight folder does include a new SOUNDLIST.INI. If your destination Mods folder already has a customized SOUNDLIST.INI, you can simply add the new entries from For_SOUNDLIST.txt (found in the root of this package) instead of overwriting your entire custom SOUNDLIST.INI.

      2. Add the carriers

      The carriers themselves can be found in the numbered directories (which are organized by class or nation). The carriers should be installed to \Objects\GroundObject in your Mods folder.

      DO NOT simply grab all the numbered directories and drop them in the GroundObject folder, as they won't show up in game. Instead, you will need to drag and drop the particular carrier folders from within the numbered directories.

      3. Add the decals

      For any carriers that you install you should also install the corresponding decals, found in \Objects\Decals. Decals go to the same location in your Mods folder (\Objects\Decals). The decals folders for carriers are named the same as the corresponding carrier that uses them. Please note that there are a few carriers that do not have decals.

      4. Install the LODs for Hermes & Viraat

      We were not able to include the LOD files needed for the HMS Hermes ('80s) and the INS Viraat (which uses the same model as the Hermes). You will need to download the "Falklands '82 for SF2" package from CombatAce, which includes the necessary LODs:

      http://combatace.com/files/file/13296-sf2-falklands-mod-redux/

      When the download is unpacked, you can find the ncessary LOD files in this location:

      \_For_SF2NA\Objects\GroundObject\Hermes

      Copy the .LOD files to the folders for the the Hermes and Viraat, which are included in the \1c_Centaur_Class directory of this carrier pack.

      Once the LODs are installed, make a COPY of the R12-R2b.LOD in each folder and rename it to R12-R2b_COL.LOD (this is the collision LOD for the ship).

      * * *

      That's it. You should be good to go.

      If any carriers are not showing up properly in the game, that's because you didn't install them correctly. My advice will always be to review the steps above, consult the Knowlede Base at CombatAce.com for the relevant articles on installing mods to Mod folders, and try again.

      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      Notes
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

      A few notes about the carriers included in this pack.

      1. Decal problems: many of the models included in this pack suffer from decal problems -- decal bleeding, mirroring, doubling, and occasional distortion. Although I have tried to minimize these problems as much as possible, you might see decals being inappropriately mirrored, often in a distorted fashion, in odd locations on some of these boats. Also, to minimize problems, I have occasionally positioned decals slightly forward or aft (or above or below) where they ideally ought to be.

      2. Texture mapping problems: some of these models also suffer from texture mapping issues, which means that sometimes things just quite don't line up properly or aren't perfectly mirrored from one side of the boat to the other (because the texture map is effectively wrapped around the model in an odd fashion).

      3. BPC Mistral: included in this package is an alternate skin for the BPC Mistral named FNGrey. I would have liked to make it the default, but discovered that the bridge area of this carrier is simply not mapped -- meaning that part of the island will always remain the default light blue. Also, decals will not show up properly on large parts of the hull, which means that I haven't been able to use them for the hull numbers of the three ships in this class. Thus, we're stuck the painted-on hull numbers for the lead ship of the class.

      4. R91 de Gaulle: the model for this carrier is very poly heavy (I'm guessing because of the static aircraft and deck crew included). On some PCs game performance and frame rates might lag severely. As with the Mistral (from the same author), some parts of the model simply aren't mapped, which has limited what I've been able to do with the skin.

      Finally, it's worth pointing out that many of the models included in this package date from 2004-2006. The oldest are seven or eight years old -- created during the first few years of the ThirdWire series. Although they still stand up fairly well, they are showing their age. Carriers (and ships more generally) seem to be some of their more difficult jobs that modelers can tackle in the ThirdWire series (along with cockpits), so we should be thankful that we have the models we do.

    10. SF2V Air & Ground War Expansion Pack v2.0 - Terrain Update

      ------------------------------------------
      SF2V A&G Expansion Pack: New Terrain Items
      for Older Expansion Pack Installations
      ------------------------------------------

      This package contains an updated set of terrain files for users of the SF2V Expansion Pack who installed the original Expansion Pack distribution from November 2009 and all the subsequent updates through the "Feb. 2010 Refresh." It was created to bring older Expansion Pack installations current with the "updated" Expansion Pack files that were released early March 2010 without forcing users to download the complete set of "updated" installation files.

      - If you downloaded and installed the Nov. 2009 version of the Expansion Pack and installed the "Terrain Tiles Update" as well as the "Feb. 2010 Refresh," then this update package is for you.

      - If you downloaded and installed the Nov. 2009 version of the Expansion Pack but did NOT install both the "Terrain Tiles Update" and "Feb. 2010 Refresh," then you can upgrade to the most current version of the Expansion Pack *only* by downloading the complete, updated set of installation files. You can find the four part set of updated Expansion Pack installation files here:

      Part 1:
      http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=10189

      Part 2:
      http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=10190

      Part 3:
      http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=10192

      Part 4:
      http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=10193

      - If you downloaded and installed the SF2V Expansion Pack on or after 3 March 2010, then this update package is NOT for you -- the "updated" Expansion Pack files from March 2010 already contain all the files from this update.

      ~~~~~~~~~~~~
      Installation
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~

      To install this update, simply copy the contents of the \To_Mod_Folder directory to your SF2V Mod Folder. In other words, drag and drop the \Terrains folder to your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted.

      That's it. You should be good to go.

    11. CV-22

      CV-22B for SFP1, WoE, WoI. '08 Patch level

      This is my modification of Zurawski's MV-22B into the USAF's CV-22.

      The CV-22 is the Special Operation Forces variant of the U.S. Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey. The first two test aircraft were delivered to Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., in September 2000. The 58th Special Operations Wing at Kirtland AFB, N.M., began CV-22 aircrew training with the first two production aircraft in August 2006.

      The first operational CV-22 was delivered to Air Force Special Operations Command's 1st Special Operations Wing at Hurlburt Field, Fla., in January 2007. Initial operational capability was achieved in 2009. The 27th Special Operations Wing, Cannon Air Force Base, NM, received its first CV-22 in May 2010.

    12. SF2 KAW Era F4U/AU-1 Corsair Pak by TMF

      SF2 Korean War Era F4U/AU-1 Corsair Pak by TMF

      = For SF2, Full-5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) =

      This package contains theTMF Corsairs for use during the Korean War. There are 4 complete aircraft in this pak, with a ship-load of skins/decal sets.

      Skins/Decal sets are included for the following units:

      F4U-4:
      VF-24 "Renegades" (USS Boxer, 7/50-11/50)
      VF-63 "Fighting Redcocks" (same as above)
      VF-64 "Freelancers" (same as above)
      VF-113 "Stingers"(USS Philippine Sea, 7/50-3/51)
      VF-114 "Excutioners" (same as above)
      VMF-312 "Checkboards" (Shore based, various fields in Korea)

      F4U-4B:
      VF-53 (USS Essex 1/51-3/52)
      VF-54 (same as above)
      VF-192 (USS Princeton, 11/51-5/52)
      VF-791 "Fighting Rebels" (USS Boxer, 3/51-10/51)
      VMA-323 "Deathrattlers" (shore based, various fields in Korea)
      VMA-332 "Polka Dots" (USS ??? -flew off CVE)
      VMF-214 "Black Sheep" (shore based)

      F4U-5NL:
      VC-3 (various Dets aboard ship)
      VMF-513 "Flying Nightmares" (shore based, various fields)

      AU-1:
      VMA-212 "Devil Cats" (land based until 1951, transfered to USS Bataan)
      VMA-323 (used F4U from USS Badoeng Strait, 1950; shore based after?)

      *Please note, many Corsair squadrons flew both the -4 and -4B at the same time. As the aircraft are mapped identically, it's an easy job to swap out skins/decal sets, for those so inclined. There is also one 'Easter Egg' squadron, as you all know how I hate wasting good skins/decal sets!! *

      The aircraft is fully carrier-capable, with all the SF2NA coding for deck 'parking'.
      Skins are in jpg format, so you MUST be at (minimum) Nov 2011, or the Latest July 2012 patch level (HIGHLY suggested!!!). All markings are decals and are Randomized. BuNums are accurate for the aircraft variant depicted, but not for the actual ones used by the squadrons; consider them 'generic' for that purpose.
      Standard Animations keystrokes are used for the canopy (Shift/0) and wingfold (shift/9) *Note the -4/-4B wingfold no longer works for some inexplicable reason*.

      As always, fairly easy to follow, highly detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too.

    13. SF2 WW2 Focke Wulf FW-190A4, JG2, MTO

      SF2 WW2 Focke Wulf FW-190A4, JG2, MTO

      -- Something for the WW2 MTO players --
      = For SF2, Full-4/5 Merged ( Full-5 Reccomended/Preferred) =

      *Note: this mod is designed for use =ONLY= in the MTO envrionment.*
      **This mod is designed to REPLACE any 1stGen variant you may have in your WW2 MTO intalls. It is reccomended you delete the skin and decals folders of the originals, as to NOT cause any conflicts with THIS mod.**

      Reskin/Redecaling for the recently released FW-190A4 recreates JG2 'Richthofen' as seen in North Africa/Tunisia region during late 1942 (early 43??) and onward.

      The aircraft is finished in a 'solid' desert tan, with white ID bands. Skins are in jpg format, decal randomization is set to TRUE. This set contains the markings for the various gruppe officers (<, <<, etc). With luck, they're pretty close.

      If you don't have the aircraft yet, you can get it here:
      http://combatace.com/files/file/13688-sf2-ww2-focke-wulf-fw-190a-4-eto/

      However, you WILL be doing some light ini editing BEFORE adding this skin. See "To Install Notes" for more details.
      Remember, this is for a WW2 MTO-centric mods folder ONLY!!!

      As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!!! Also, the "Notes" section for other important stuff of interest.

      Re-release of Veltro's F-12A Interceptor. This is the FULL aircraft, with pretty much everything needed. If you have the original release, it's advised you delete it and use ONLY the items supplied herein (been some changes, doncha know!).

      This package also includes all the various 'tweeks' from my 2011 modification pak.
      The skin has been converted to jpg, and decal randomization is set to TRUE.
      Weapons, sounds, pilot figures, etc, from the Tweeks Pak are included. And a NEW SF2-style hangar screen.

      Mods, rebuilds, reskining/redecaling for Wolf's FW-190. This is the second of a series of FW-

      This package represents FW-190A-5s as deployed in Western Europe. Skins/Decals in this pak are:

      2/JG2 (with partial fues Eagle marking)
      JG26 (once again, the slightly generic FW-190, this time with a slightly mottled fues camo)

      Both represent aircraft from late 1942 onwards.
      Skins are in jpg format, and decal randomization is set to TRUE.
      A (semi) compliant SF2 FM was cobbled together from various sources. As always, while it works
      quite well, further fine tuning is required by Experten.
      Sounds, pilot figures and weapons are included, as well a new SF2 version of my "box art"
      Hangar and/or Loading screens.

      Please note, the engine sound in this one has been changed to the AVHistory BMW 801 sound. It's

      simple text edit.

      them!!! Also, the "Notes" section for other important stuff of interest. When discoverable,
      Wolf's original readme is included for historical purposes.

    17. Fictional Saab/BAE Gripen FGR1

      Saab/BAE Gripen FGR1 For Strike Fighters 2.

      Simple mod of the Gripen Team's Saab Gripen to represent a fictional angloised RAF version of the Gripen.

      Small changes made such as Eurojet2000 engine instead of Volvo unit. Slightly up rated pylon weights and RAF spec loadouts.

      3 new skins to represent 6, 25 & 74 Squadrons.

      Installation.

      Drop all folders into your desired mod folder.(let it over write)

      Run and save both weapons and guns editors.(I think this is necessary for new weapons to show up)

      That should be it.

      Best used with the SF2 Weapons Pack by 331Killerbee.

      Thanks to:-

      *Note: this mod is designed for use =ONLY= in the ETO envrionment.

      Some small fiddling-with for Geo's Volksjager. Ini work includes a 'cobbled' together SF2 (semi) compliant FM, randomization of the decals, and some (very slight!!) reclaibration of some cockpit insturments. Skin is still in it's original bmp format. Decal randomization is set to "TRUE" for the 15 decals we have. A NEW SF2 'box art' Hangar screen was created for this mod.

      All bits are included: sounds, pilot figure, the gun, etc. Operational years (ok, months!) are set semi-historical, with the correct 'In Service' StartDate (end of service date is conjectural; ie: end of 45)

      As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!!! Geo's original readme is included for historical purposes.

      Canberra B(I) mk8 for the "Strike Fighters 2" Series
      by Ahmed Junaid Raza

      Special thanks to "Spinners" for tweaking the 3D model to be more like the real Canberra - didn't realise they were so out!

      Updated for SF 2 series by MigBuster and Spinners (July 2009)

      Temp Gunpack by Wrench (July 2009)

      The B(I) mk8 was derived from the B(I)mk6 and retains the same Engines, fuel load and loadout. The main change was a redesigned nose and offset fighter style canopy - which was put in place due to the targetting difficulties of the B.mk2 fishbowl style canopy.

      The B.1 Mk8 Interdictor came into service in 1956 with around 69 being built. Other Later variants also used the offset Fighter style canopy.

      Special thanks to "Spinners" for tweaking the 3D model to be more like the real Canberra - didn't realise they were so out!

      Updated for SF 2 series by MigBuster and Spinners (July 2009)

      The B.mk20 was licence built B.mk2 by the Government Aircraft Factories, Melbourne, Australia. It featured an increased fuel capacity thanks to wing fuel tanks and outer wing pylons were also added.

      The B.mk20 was used by the Australian RAAF between around 1966 and 1971 in conflict during the Vietnam war as part of the US 35th TFW.

      The version in this pack is the later model with the Avon 109 engines and has outer wing pylons according to pictures ive seen. It is also mentioned that the RAAF could use wingtip racks for extra bombs though not too sure on that.
