A work in progress terrain of mine, Midway Atoll + Kure Atoll. Don't ask for any release date, still a lot of work to do with it. Mandatory screenies, scramble mission over Midway Atoll:

Certainly! https://oldbrowser.files.fm/u/yr4jdaqf https://oldbrowser.files.fm/u/35p68kyt On the first link is the English version of the book, on another - the Russian original (for comparison). To date, this is the most complete and informative monograph about the S-16.

The file "decals.ini" in your /Objects/Aircraft/Pfalzd3a/Jasta16b folder tells the game engine where to find decals. Here's an example of one of the entries: [Decal001] MeshName=WingO_L DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=PfalzD3a/Jasta16b/D/BWingL Position=-2.4620,-0.2600 Scale=4.1 DecalMaxLOD=3 The 4th line (FilenameFormat) identifies the particular decal (BWingL) and the path to it. So, your folder structure has to match. For some reason, I have the decals for most of my add-on aircraft in two places - one /D folder in the main texture folder of the aircraft folder, and another instance in a separate /Decals folder (in the \Objects folder), that only contains folders with the aircraft name, squadron/texture, and the /D folder (full of the decals). In other words, matching the pathway in "decals.ini" I believe this is a change from FE1 to FE2, and that I'm only keeping the copies of the decals in the main aircraft folder for "backup storage." I'm sure you only need to use the separate /Decals folder, since I have several aircraft (including the Pfalzd3a JG2 skin) that call decals from a different skin (J15Star). [Incidentally, all these folders are in C:/Users/Owner/Thirdwire/FirstEagles2, NOT in the main FE2 installation folder). There's a whole "Decalling Tutorial" stickied here, if you're interested in finding out more. Hope some of this is helpful. DARoot

There were several types of Sopwich "Schneider / Tabloid". Usually they can be designated as SS.1, SS.2 and SS.3 (SS - Sopwith Scout), designated by the British. Type SS.1 was the direct development of the two-seater Sopwith Type St.B and the racing "Schneider". They had a protruding upper wing and no ailerons. Control of the wing with the steering wheel. Approximately the same were the first military Schneiders on floats ordered by the British fleet, and this type of control (wing warping, or gauchissement) was specifically stipulated in the contract. But by this time there already existed a more advanced airplane Type SS.3, equipped with ailerons and, apparently, the control stick. The upper wing was almost not protruding forward. They were also ordered by seamen in small quantities, one or two were armed. The prototype for the "Lebed" was the SS type, but in Russia, it seems, also got one SS.3. What is characteristic, later, the British upgraded all the remaining aircraft without ailerons to normal controls. By the way, I was prompted, that such "swans" was produced only three copies. V.A. Lebedev suggested to the Ministry of War acquire three "scouts": "I propose to purchase three "Lebed-7" apparatuses of the "Sopvit" type. These apparatuses are distinguished by their compactness, convenient transportation and high speed up to 150 km per hour, so that they can be of great use wherever a quick reconnaissance production is required. The price is 11200 roubles with a "Gnome-80" engine . Without a motor -7200. One we can deliver with a motor, two - without an engine. " But, in spite of the high estimation of the test pilot, these planes did not interest the "chief of Russian aviation" Grand Duke Alexander Mikhailovich.

One of the major differences of the "2" series (FE and SF) is the fact that decals have to be in the /Objects/Decals/*name of plane* folder. From there, for the most part, the pathways should be the same (not always the case, but ya know...) Also, depending on the age of the mod (many predate 2008) the DecalMaxLod= line is missing. That just tells the game engine how many lower level LODs to use the decals on. So, normally, the pathway in the decals ini would be *name of plane*/-name of skin-/D (sub folder)/=name of decal= This little tutorial in the SF2 Knowledge Base might be of some help; I hope it is!

This is not quite true. We cannot call a SSW D.I a direct copy of the Nieuport 17, both aircraft differed quite strongly not only in detail, but also in geometry. The Germans retained the scheme, but the design was changed noticeably. First of all - a large diameter propeller for a low-revolution bi-rotary engine. This forced to increase the length of the landing gear struts, as you correctly point out. In fact, there were much more differences from Nie.17. To save the centering (CG) had to shorten the cabane struts, so the upper wing on the SSW is set much lower than on the French aircraft. The wing/stabilizer surfaces is also slightly reduced according to the new weight distribution. And "other minor differences" (such as steel interplane Vee struts instead of wooden, another tail skid, etc.). ))

Mike Dora just posted some outstanding shots taken at Old Rheinbeck Aerodrome. One more plugs into the theme for the new series of FE2 aircraft.

View File Siemens-Schuckert D.I The German Siemens-Schuckert D.I was a direct copy of captured Nieuport 17s. The most important difference was in the engine. The Siemens Schuckert Werke (SSW) D.I used a geared Siemens-Halske Sh.I engine which produced 1800rpm. The spinner nose and open bottom cowling were necessary to help cool the engine. A bigger prop required a taller landing gear. Problems with engine production delayed the release of the SSW D.I. The Albatros D.III was already available by the time the SSW reached the front. The Albatros was a much superior plane, and was less likely to be mistaken for a French plane. The SSW D.I only served for a short time on the Western Front, they served longer on the Eastern front. My Siemens-Schuckert D.I includes a three color camo skin, a full set of number decals, a fully functional cockpit, and damage nodes for the wings. My skinning templates and a sound file for the engine are included in the download. Historical Notes: I do not have a sound file for the Siemens-Halske Sh.I engine, I am using Nixou's sound for the Le Rhône 110 hp engine instead. Credits: My thanks to Ojcar once again for making the excellent data.ini file for this plane. My thanks to Nixou for making the sound file for the Le Rhône 110 hp engine. Installation instructions: For FE1: Unzip the file and move the folder named "SiemensSchuckertD1" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. If you don't already have it, move the file named "Lerhone110m1" from my Sounds folder into your Sounds folder. For FE2: Unzip the file and move the folder named "SiemensSchuckertD1" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. Then in the FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, create a new folder named "SiemensSchuckertD1". Move the folder named "D" from the Aircraft/SiemensSchuckertD1 folder into the Decals/SiemensSchuckertD1 folder you just made. If you don't already have it, move the file named "Lerhone110m1" from my Sounds folder into your Sounds folder. Submitter Stephen1918 Submitted 06/29/2018 Category Other Central Powers Aircraft

The base problem here is that those guys face no opposition. For combat choppers there's nothing else, NOTHING. For combat aircraft it's a good balance between realism and fun combined with good graphics. For many people SF2 falls short in realistm terms and Falcon 4 is a bit too much (specially cause is a old engine with poor terrain/ground unit graphics, and the hability to fly only one airplane). So, in my point of view imagine a workd where only McDonalds make burguers, with no opposition, they will start to treat customers like shit and do whatever they want. I think is pretty similar to the DCS situation. What a shame TK cannot read the situation and release a 40$ big realism update and start make money.
