finally fixed something that's be bugging the crap out of me for 20 years .... proper serial decals* for the stock NMF B-57B, and an NMF skinned tip tank. Also replaced the idiotic 2-piece "U.S.Air Force" decal with a single one. Be available soon!!! (less than 2 weeks!!) (*=I mean seriously, HOW hard is it to make 24 correct serial and buzz number decals????)

If it's been like that for 20 years it just shows how much the correct serials really matter to most folks...you could put a John Deere tractor number on there & it would make no difference...................but you miss a rivet on a skin...............

While not exactly a "Humpday Heavy', I"m calling this one a "Mid-week Medium" 499th BS, 345th BG B-57B Canberra (all historic excepting the WW2 style nose art)

the important stuff is always simple. the simple stuff is alway hard - some NCO from many moons ago not to mention very few people went to hit the books hard in the past when it came to serials, not to mention the books didnt have as much info tens years ago as they do now. some topics, theyre still kinda sketchy. but ya know i feel that pain

In 1976 the RAF needed a heavy intercepter to defend the UK against modern soviet long range bombers. The idea was born to use Vulcan bombers as basic for such an interceptor. The Vulcan F.1 would have been armed with 12 AIM-54A Phoenix missiles (8 internal, 4 external). Later the idea was canceled in favor for the fighter version of the Tornado.

I believe that is a real image. But there is no way to know when and where that image came from. There were quite a few countries that transitioned from MiG-21s to F-16s and/or that conducted exercises with allies that had F-16s. If it was from actual combat and it led to a kill, why not show the gun cam image of the F-16 getting hit? If you google MiG-21 gun camera film, you can find other examples that are very similar to this one. That is why I accept it as likely being real.
