Phinal Photos: RF-4C in USAF Service After Desert Storm A TMF Rebuilt project This mod represents the phinal years of the Photo Phantom n USAF service. It includes a new RF-4C_91 model that features Sidewinder missile capability. While only a couple dozen RF-4Cs were wired for AIM-9 carriage, they served in the Alabama and Nevada Air National Guards while they did. Therefore, I placed the skins for those units in the _91 model's folder Required a functional copy of any Strike Fighters 2 game except for SF2 North Atlantic (the only one without a native F-4 destroyed model) The aircraft from the TMF Rebuilt RF-4C Late set, available here: https://combatace.com/files/file/18263-late-model-rf-4cs-photo-phantoms-after-vietnam/ (if you already downloaded this then you dont need to do it again) Included 3 RF-4C aircraft folders - RF-4C_85: skins only (12th RS, 173rd RS Nebraska ANG) - RF-4C_91: new aircraft with several Nevada and Alabama skins, and Sidewinder capability. Photo flash bays restricted to one or the other to make room for this capability, but photo flashes were not used as much in the phinal years. - RF-4C_ARN_101: skin (12th RS) and data_ini adjustment (extends years to 1992 from original 1990) 2 decal folders NOTE: most weapons, pilots, effects and sounds are already included in the original Rebuilt set. only AIM-9s for the _91 are included here Credits -The Mirage Factory the very original aircraft (see TMF Readme) -ravenclaw_007 original model, RF-4 pit -Sundowner further modifications to model and pit, effects for new photoflash bombs -daddyairplanes skins, tgas, multiple ini edits, creation of 4 distinct aircraft from one model -guruu sounds -NightshadeP/R testing. Nightshade often shows me my errors in screenshots he's just sharing for fun, while Menrva helps me with the more technical aspects -Sundowner, ravenclaw_007, yakarov79 and daddyairplanes templates are a mix of layers as contributed by these four. compiled in current form by daddyairplanes Special Thanks * to Sundowner for supporting this project. He was kind enough to hand me this ball and let me run with it and even make additional features as I requested them * to ET Brown, Gary Chambers and other members of the 106th Tac Recon Squadron page on Facebook. These Alabama Air Guardsmen veterans helped greatly and the "106th RS 94" skin features the crew chiefs on the nose just as the real aircraft had in the final 6 months. About The Mirage Factory Rebuilt Back in the early days of Wings Over series modding The Mirage Factory, lead by bpao was the peak of modding excellence. Many of their models are still heavily in use today, 15 years later and still amongst the very best. This despite the team not creating any new mods since the passing of Oliver Anguille in 2009. But time does move on, and the next generation of modders have ideas, techniques and tools not available back then. With the help of some of the original modellers (who have copies of the original max files) we can update these fine aircraft for the 2020s. Rebuilt for new terrains and campaigns that were just hopeful wishes over a decade ago. The Mirage in the logo is camoflaged, much like the real aircraft in later service. The "HD" has been replaced with "Rebuilt" as what was HD in the 2010s is jsut standard today. Finally, the new logo thanks Oli, both for the aircraft that are still relevant today and for the inspiration he's given to the modders that followed him. On behalf of The Mirage Factory (original and rebuilt) I thank you for downloading this mod, and hope you enjoy it. thank you for downloading this mod, i hope you enjoy phlying it as much as i did creating it Kevin Unruh aka daddyairplanes 4 Oct 2024 ************************************************************* This is freeware; it CANNOT be distributed unless permissions are granted by myself. The Strikemaster is essentially an armed version of the Jet Provost T Mk 5. Various improvements and alterations were made to the aircraft, including an uprated Armstrong Siddeley Viper turbojet engine, wing hardpoints capable of carrying a wide variety of munitions, a pair of machine guns under the intakes, uprated flap system with two jacks, enlarged airbrake jacks, new communication and navigation gear, different electrical system, canopy breakers on the ejection seats, and a revised fuel system including tip tanks on the wing tips. First flown in 1967, the aircraft was typically marketed as a light attack or counter-insurgency aircraft, however, the majority of customers were air forces seeking an advanced trainer. The Strikemaster did see combat on multiple occasions in the service of Ecuador, Oman and Yemen. A total of 146 aircraft were produced prior to the end of production in 1983. The type remaining flying into the 2020s, albeit with increasing difficulty due to a decreasing supply of spare parts over time. WHAT'S IN: - Strikemaster Mk80 Saudi Arabia (47 planes) 3 skins - Strikemaster Mk81 South Yemen ( 4 planes) 1 skin - Strikemaster Mk82 Oman (25 planes) 2 skins - Strikemaster Mk83 Kuwait (12 planes) 1 skin - Strikemaster Mk88 New Zealand (16 planes) 2 skins CREDITS: - russouk2004: original model - pappychksix: all skins - paulopanz: decals, hangars, screens, drop tanks paint, skins little editings, ini dance, packaging etc etc. TO INSTALL: - put all in your main mod folder and overwrite NOTE: TW simulations allow us to add proper historical serials, numbers, letters and nose arts to each plane. Best models with serials, numbers and letters painted on textures for me are a real waste. All planes (as black cats at night ...) are the same ... So our friend Pete allowed me to make decals (I have a real decals factory yet ...) for his great skins and this is the final product. I think that outstanding Russo's plane really needed this work to shine. I hope you like this pack, as I liked to buid this up. If Pete will skin Mk84, Mk89 and Mk90 (with his own super templates) too I'll be glad to add them. If someone'll tweak a better flight model I'll add too. Any improve'll be welcome. Aren't we a community? Enjoy! paulopanz@ -

4 pointsThe phinal chapter is awaiting approval there one more story to tell for the Photo Phantom, but it is part of a whole wings tale, not just the Phantom. Huge, huge thanks to @Sundowner, i merely asked if teh old aircraft had been updated from Gen 1 to 2 a few months back. instead he let me run wild with a wholly revamped model and many more features than a simple ini edit of the Gen 1 birds would entail.

3 pointsThis, and the owners of the original payware YAP site died years ago. I understand Gepard is hurt by the fact they monetized upon his free work, I'd also be furious about it in his place, but they're no longer with us, so it's pointless to beat a dead horse now. IIRC the old site is still up just for history, the store shouldn't be working anymore, the RW team should have removed links to the store. The RW team is comprised of end users who had bought YAP products in the past and now are updating them to SF2 for free. So when YAP monetized upon stuff that shouldn't have been monetized in the first place, the end-users also got screwed for paying for contents coming from freeware sources. I keep repeating myself, I think I explained several times that RW is unrelated to whatever wrongdoing YAP did in the past. I think it's time to move on. If people refer to the old SF1 version of YAP, Gepard has all the reasons to be angry at what they did. If it's about RW, Gepard can ask them to remove his works if he doesn't want them to be reshared outside of CombatACE. I see RW is pretty cautious about crediting like @daddyairplanes explained.
-
3 pointsas has been mentioned elsewheres, the current crew of YAP_RW isnt charging, tries hard to give credit where due and will remove stuff if you should ask them to do so the current YAP site (not RW) does mention several prominent modders from here (including you Gepard) and also has a cute little blurb on the bottom about "many files form the internet" and "credit to those that made it, apologies if we missed you". But the RW team works hard to play by the civilized rules of the modding game, despite their original material

2 pointscheck ODS30AE if you havent already. it would be the top end for how this sim can be modded using practically all the tricks discovered to date (and invented a couple in the process iirc) beyond that, enjoy the variety. theres biplanes to Chinese stealth and most of whats in between here, an many parts of the globe to fly em in

1 pointseveral of them can already, Draken got in trouble with incidents with live round French AAMs in Florida a couple years back i'm aiming to practice KISS with this, so basic weapons on air to ground. older Winders and AMRAAMs (as thats what we're giving Ukraine anyhow). no gun (to long to reinstall and certify). IAI may or may not help with the mission computers to convert back from aggressor to full combat aircraft but most importantly, experienced pilots. the loss they had so far is widely believed to be a a case of reverting to Soviet style flying in a Western jet. the contractors wouldnt have that issue, and would most likely have several thousand hours each in the jet with only a basic course on teh specifics of this Viper and as i found out the tail says, experience matters
-
1 pointAhh I see where you're going with it. Maybe, but I doubt that they would be able to carry weapons. I mean we are talking about a PMC with air-to-air ordnance. And while I'm sure they'd get the approval, that to me at least seems a bit far fetched. They'd probably have to retrofit the birds first though.
-
1 pointPlausible, but I doubt they'd be in UkrAF colors though.
-
1 pointi know that. but they recieved around 6, and already lost one with pilot. and the pipeline wont shoot more in very quickly but what if Top Aces had their DoD and NATO aggressor contracts cancelled, but were immediately awarded contracts to provide training "and other services" to UkAF?

1 pointThanks Allen, you're right. I was mislead by the fact they apparently did split the 2 websites this year. I was not aware till now
-
1 pointYes, as everyone has said before, many people here have been working on it for ten or even twenty years, but this is all we have available at this point. There is also a thread there looking into changing the cloud height, again with no luck. This is just one of the areas where this community were explore. God, I really want to say something about the HUD effect in the video (I mean that holographic sight? Sorry I don't know what these old-school things are called),the crosshair will only appear in the glass, if SF2 also had such a thing, not only would the visual effects be much better, it would even be possible to make something like an HMD in theory, but all of this is just pure fantasy. At this point (mid-2020s) there is almost no hope of getting any further TK source code, and even the game itself is in an abandoned state, so the best we can do is look the present(make the best use of).

-
1 pointWell, the word-for-word translation to "experience is important" is correct. A rather loose translation could be "experience makes difference". In other words a newer and more modern aircraft does not guarantee victory over an old F-16A, if the latter is flown by an experienced pilot and instructor. Pictures from Top Gun with Skyhawk against Tomcat come to mind So, it makes some sence to me, could be totally wrong of course.

Gunfighters! 366th Wing, Mountain Home's Mini Air Force in the 1990s In the 1990s, CSAF General Merril McPeak had a concept to test; expeditionary wings that had the entire range of capabilities to wage an air campaign. This lead to change for the 366th Fighter Wing, "Gunfighters", as they transitioned from a F-11 fighter unit to a composite wing, with bomber aircraft, tankers, and fighters specializing in air to air, SEAD and interdiction roles. The wing participated in several exercises and combat operations throughout the 1990s to validate the composite wing concept. Ultimately, economics of operating so many different aircraft types in one wing and base led to the consolodation of the Wing as a F-15E Strike Eagle unit. But, for about a decade, the Gunfighters hosted an entire mini air force, ready for its' nation's call to action. This mod is a tribute to that experiment. Installation This package includes everything you need to get into action. Unzip the mod, ope the "2. Mod Folder", and place contents into your chosen mod folder. Allow overwrites as necessary.
