RAZBAM Mig-23MLA
MigBuster replied to SilverDragon's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
23-12A is the recent Yefim designation for the original MLA and only shows Cuba as getting those from the early 1980s. They arrived in Angola in 84...............The recent MiG Diaries written by former Cuban MiG-23ML/A pilot and a SAAF pilot is by far the best book on the Angolan air war - but they only refer to the 23 being an ML which doesnt help. There were two new build MLA varients i23-19B (MLAE) for Syria/Libya that had a mix of avionics, and i23-22A (MLAE-2) for Bulgaria which was an MLA airframe with Russian MLD avionics. Both are called export MLDs in other sources. All Russian P/ML/MLA airframes were supposedly converted and upgraded into the dogtooth MLDs from the mid 80s. -
Computer upgrade
MigBuster replied to warthog64's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
What exactly has been upgraded? Do you need to upgrade your graphics drivers also? Any other updated drivers for it you may need to apply? (chipset for example) Anyway to roll back? Does the game run without any mods? -
Not all correct - I have not read it properly. The IAS looks good but the other dial for Mach is not on there (as said above) and it is supposed to be. More surprised that was left off.

You might be a few decades late for TMF The actual F-14A NATOPS from which they probably moddelled it on tells me the airspeed dial goes from 80 to 850 knots Indicated. So as you can see in your the sceen shot the needle is on 850 kts so that looks correct. M2.23 at 29,000 ft msl at standard day is ~M1030KCAS or ~1320KTAS I think the real Timcat was limited to 800KIAS under 30,000ft so that might have been an overspeed. Speed must have been displayed elsewhere - the HUD or the CRT display but not familiar really with F-14s.

What made everyone play SF2
MigBuster replied to TheStig's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
As a kid Flight of the Intruder on the Amiga which was by the same guys that did Falcon probably swayed me towards the Cold War era - thinking it even had inbuilt ROE (?) dont know. Picked up SFP1 about 2004 which had Vietnam era jets so a natural progression - nothing else was like that. -
Tiny Question..

If it needs the source code changing then nope. -

MigBuster replied to omegaeleven's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Yap 1 did allow you to start from taxi and hangars in Wings Over Vietnam iirc - like 18 years ago. TK maybe changed the code so that no longer worked. There were later versions of yap that may have worked but you would have to speak to those guys if they are still about. -
Ripping-off Without Shame

The freeware licensing for CA is here. This has not changed much since about 2008. In the West this is seen as a basic common courtesy and politeness to fellow members. -
Someone it seems might be looking to keep updating the serial nos.

"The Heatblur Simulations F-4E Phantom II is the culmination of over 2 years of intense development, preceded by countless hours of research and built with our next-gen technology that brings many new features, leaning on all the know-how gained from our previous modules. DCS: F-4 represents some of the most immersive cold war fighter jet simulation available. Climb into the cockpit of this beast and announce yourself with thunder, as you experience the thrill of riding a primeval spirit. DCS: F-4 includes, and models, both the DMAS and non-DMAS equipped F-4E Phantom II variants using the powerful J-79 engines. It utilizes our next-gen components based simulation framework - the aircraft is simulated as a connection of thousands of individual components. From an instrument needle to control surfaces, each component influences the state of the aircraft and even comes with its own wear and tear. Enjoy in depth fluids and electric simulations, a dynamic flight model and many new “firsts” in DCS, when flying and fighting in the F-4! With the DCS F-4 we are introducing JESTER 2.0 - a completely rebuilt and redesigned JESTER AI to help you as your WSO, with improved and updated intelligence, a new interface and new immersive features, like pro-actively asking you questions depending on the situation - changing his behavior based on your answers. Teamwork is key in the Phantom. With JESTER 2.0 you will be able to not only enjoy this multiseat fighter in multiplayer with a friend, but also in singleplayer on your own. " There are 4 options to choose from on the Heatblur store only for now - Order at your own risk. https://store.heatblur.com/products/dcs-f-4-phantom

The latest iteration of the Tommo Inc Falcon 4.0 total conversion modification - Benchmark Sims 4.37 U3 - is available for you to enjoy RIGHT NOW with some major changes ( See change log below) BMS 4.37 U3 requires a legit installation of a Falcon 4.0 (all older and newer versions are accepted alike, i.e. Microprose, Hasbro, GOG, Steam, Retroism). The check is performed both at setup time and every time you start BMS. If no valid installation is found, BMS will exit with a corresponding error message. For those of you who are new to Falcon and still need a legacy Falcon 4.0 license, you’re lucky, as there are various season sales going on. Retroism GOG If you have already installed BMS 4.37 Full Installer you will need to launch the “updater.exe” in Falcon BMS root folder (or from the new launcher). Alternatively, you can use the offline incremental installer available on the Falcon BMS Download page. This mod may not be used for any commercial purposes. Any such use may constitute a violation of the intellectual property of Tommo Inc and the non-commercial Terms and Conditions under which Benchmark Sims make this mod available to you. After the update, when starting BMS, the version string in the BMS UI will now read: FALCON BMS 4.37.3 (X64) BUILD 1329 CHANGELOG https://www.falcon-bms.com/changelogs/falcon-bms-4-37-3/ A big THANK YOU to everyone in the BMS development team and to the gents from TOMMO INC who made this release possible! 1 Yes 2. You only purchase the modules you want to fly. All the ED AI planes are included I think. Example I never bought the FW-190D but can put it in missions and campaigns for AI use. 3. Further purchases of single player campaigns, Maps (e.g. Normandy), and probably the WWII asset pack will be needed. There is no historical accuracy in the base game especially with WWII it is mostly a sandbox. WWII is very minor in DCS but there is one good multiplayer (4YA) server at least that do that if you like that sort of thing. There are some good single player campaigns for specific aircraft you can buy. It will be limited to the available maps and very small planeset.

The F-15E, developed in the mid 1980's, is a dual-role fighter designed to perform air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. An array of avionics and electronics systems give the F-15E the capability to fight at low or high altitude, day or night, and in all weather. The F-15E is the USAF's premier strike fighter still in use today. The F-15E delivered fighter aircrew several first-time capabilities. Its APG-70 radar, based on the very capable APG-63 from the F-15A-D, boasted a synthetic mapping capability that literally created pictures of the target based solely on radar imaging. A self-contained, networked electronic warfare suite gave the aircraft self-protection capabilities. Bringing this all together and placing battlespace information at the hands of the crew, a sophisticated, air-to-ground with an ergonomic cockpit layout that was developed to take full advantage of the latest technology and advances in such areas with Multi-Purpose Displays. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/modules/f-15e/

Very sorry to hear that GKABS.

And yet people still get taken in by them - so it is always good to highlight these when possible.

A video on a Mil sim scam that you may have seen last year originally called Track While Scan (TWS)............and is now called Training and Warfare Simulator (TWS)

98% no F-16s had the capability to carry AIM-7 operationally until 1989 despite several sources saying otherwise (looking at you Egyptian F-16Cs) . Those EPAF countries (Belgium etc) would have had to flight test, and pay for the capability and develop new pylons and the radar dev.........either to GD / Westinghouse or some other contractor. They would have been seen carrying AIM-7 and being a non classified thing many pilots and engineers would have stated as such by now. (No evidence of such a thing) No idea if it was even an option for them............but they did have some differences like Penguin (Norway). Would probably need someone that dealt with the negotiations back in the 70s to know. Basically if you look back back to the 1970s/80s they were really holding out for AMRAAM which was started around 1976 and expected in 1985/6 but was delayed with the first LRIP AMRAAMs delivered in 1987. (first separation AMRAAM launch from F-16 was about 1981)

In reality there is a lot of confusion but will try to clear it up. F-16A Block 1 was built from the start to carry Sparrow and had the cooling, space, power and provisions....however due to politics USAF decided not to put it on and dropped it in 1975. So the APG-66(V) did not have the bits to support AIM-7 like the CW module because they were intentionally left off. Long story short AIM-7 was not properly certified on F-16A until 1989 (F-16ADF) that used the APG-66(V)1 (according to Lockheed Martin/GD) It was not certified on F-16C until 1989 either and not ready until 1992. (according to Lockheed Martin/GD) After 1992 Lockheed advertised it as an option on any F-16A or F-16C regardless of the Radar if you wanted it but very few users ever had it. For example the EPAF MLU F-16s with APG-66(V2) probably didn't have the capability to fire AIM-7 they just went with AMRAAM instead. However the Taiwan Block 20s with APG-66(V)3 could fire AIM-7s (they were not allowed AMRAAM at first) Basically the USAF were given costs and a 3 year lead time in 1976 to put Sparrow on the F-16A so it was viable......................so for fantasy world you can just stick it on.
