4 pointsVisiting an SAM site on Kurils. Does we have SAM trailer trucks somewhere?
-
3 pointsGepard: yes, Zil-157 with an SA-2 on the trailer. IIRC, Kesselbrut built them. I don't know if they're in the SF2 downloads, but should be in SF/Wo* downloads. Look for Zil Truck Pack or something like that. --------------------- Required screenie: 1958: VA-12 gets it's first Skyhawks

3 pointsLet me Google that for you... Ah here it is... The host plane is a Chinese evolution of the An-12, the Shaanxi Y-8. The Chinese have an AWACS variant themselves, the Shaanxi KJ-200, using the same radar as the Swedish Saab Argus and Erieye. This one is a Shaanxi ZDK-03, a KJ-200 variant built for Pakistan with an AESA radar of Chinese origin, supposedly with better performances than the Erieye also operated by Pakistan.

3 pointsI had a Iraqi 4-ship MiG-21bis escort msn a while ago, escorting a 3-ship Tu-22B's. Short-distance msn so flown mostly real-time. Nice join-up with the bombers .. I kept my flight behind and above them. Our whole package ran into a 2-ship F-14 patrol which wasted no time shooting AIM-54 and downed two of the bombers, and perhaps one of my MiGs. We merged and had a dogfight with the F-14 but none of my missile shots (Atolls and Aphids) connected. Wingmen didnt score either, eventually me or one of the others got one F-14 with guns .. cant remember (was Sept '17). Result: my flight disengaged with one lost and perhaps one more to AD on the flight back, one bomber survived. fun fun

2 pointsHi Vons this sim do's provide us with a lot of fun I think I get more fun modding than flying, with regarding flying you look like you will be sighted in a divorce case my wife says I need to come to bed and stop flying but your flight settings and files have transformed this sim for me in a way it is so much challenging I tried the Fokker E1 wow now if one brings down a enemy it is more luck than good flying but I do like it thanks again for all you do for this sim you make a old man happy.

2 pointsFound more info about aircraft guns and synchronizers. Rate of fire for the ground version of the Vickers gun was 450-550 rounds per minute (rpm). Minor adjustments to rpm could be made by tightening or loosening the fusee spring. Early British synchronizers (particularly the Ross gear) slowed the rpm to 350-400 rpm, and the situation was not improved until mid-1917 with the introduction of the Constantinesco gear. By war's end, Britain had manufactured 71,355 Vickers guns (both ground and air) while Colt had built 4,000 Vickers guns for aircraft use. Britain delivered 10,544 Vickers aircraft guns to France by December 1918. Birmingham Small Arms (UK) and Savage Arms Company (US) shipped at least 6,842 Lewis guns to France. Meanwhile, domestic French production ramped up during the war: Regis Darne delivering 3,266 Lewis guns and Milde delivering 1,100 Lewis guns. France used at least four different variants of the basic Lewis design, all differences being minor detail changes. Throughout the entire war, it proved difficult to balance gun production with airframe production. This probably accounts for the confusing variation in gun/synchronizer installations. For example, the Windsock data file for the Breguet 14 clearly shows delivered aircraft mounting overwing Lewis guns, instead of the standard Vickers gun. There simply were not enough aircraft Vickers guns to meet the demand, a situation that worsened in 1917 with the Allied introduction of two-gun fighters.

1 pointThe number of available trees per tile depends also from a entry in the terrain_data.ini. AlphaObjectVertexCount=8192 AlphaObjectIndexCount=12288 As higher the values, as more trees can be "planted"

1 pointHello again gents', Have now tested this interesting issue further (of the complexities of FE2 directory structure ) and can confirm on my rig at least that it makes no difference if the fast/slow prop files are placed in the general aircraft folder, or in the skins folder of the aircraft folder - tried the experiment with the Halb. D.V and the Nieuport 16 Lewis - and got the same results. Removing the fast/slow prop images completely from the aircraft or skin folder (to the desktop for example) removes the spinning prop completely. The stationary prop is still there, but once it spins up it disappears. Hope some of the info. helps out those struggling with file location in FE2. Von S

1 pointAces, don't waste your time -- you're using & showing SF2 parameters. None of that works in SF1 Naval ships pretty much exist only as a joke in 1stGens.

1 pointin order going up this thread: what if project, what if project, would be nice but the Brits would have done it on the cheap so pylon mounted missiles it would have been, and I'd like one too but i dont know if ed will be working on anything anytime soon (i recall veltro posting a pic of one a long time ago, very wip) perhaps a missile or two semirecessed into a fairing sort of like Tomcat/Phoenix. but you gotta figure that a Bombcorde would be primarily to offset orders lost when BA and Air France were the only ones to buy. Plus it would be a hell of a replacement for the Mirage IV....
