  1. as the commercial says, thats not how this works (TW games and main game folder that is ) pretty much leave whats in teh main game folder alone. the options ini and versions ini need to stay in the folder in teh Saved Games area. the rest can go about anywhere you please, so long as its called out within the options ini as above.
  2. thats why we posted the steps. easier to type it out than hunt it down might wanna sticky it up top though. its becoming a common question
  3. Crawford is most of the way there, so instead of posting the link on the topic, i'll tell the rest of the story fire your game up for the first time generating the mod folder adjust the settings in the options ini (theyll be towards the bottom) [Mods] ModsEnabled=TRUE Directory=(whatever folder you want):\Users\Kevin\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 test Editors=StrikeFighters2 [ScreenShots] Directory=(whatever folder you want):\Users\Kevin\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 test\ScreenShots Format=JPG then save the options.ini and version.ini within the mod folder. cut the folders, make a new mod folder wherever youre putting them, and paste them in. run the game, take a screenshot. when done, you should have the sceenshot in the drive you wanted it in. that will tell you if you did it right
  4. i understand on the RL commitments (lawdy do i ever). but hey it would get it there faster than sittin on the shelf.
  5. you going to have the early aggressor Scooters too? that had dark spots on teh wingtops to make it look like a MiG-17 (ish)
  6. he models folks, and he can make an ini dance a tune or two
  7. i'll call you out, want to get back to modding and volunteer? bit too busy to tackle it myself, but willing to advise and give assets where i can ( i got a whole slew of SAC unit badges from the last couple years work)
  8. looking good. will suggest turning the layer (whether on skin or if its a decal) opacity on the common markings like the "NAVY" and hte insignia down to at least 70%. its usually slighlty darker than the above tail is in most photos i say at least 70%, most of the markings on USAF birds i do get dialed down to 55%. but go whats right to your eyeball
  9. pics taken while figuring out employment procedures.. as noted with partner in crime, same company built this hangar that built the g*****nevilcommbuilding...... (note: weapon by the guy that posted above me)
  10. you two know we could use some more modders round here. provided their past work shows them to be tolerably qualified
  11. US civilian spelling may be saber but every military usage i've ever encountered (going back to my dad's time in the 80s) i remember it being spelled sabre. and Wrench, are you forgetting its the Le Sabre? i drove one for damn near ten years, until a fender bender and the insurance company totaled it because it was over 180000 miles
  12. no im a one trick pony modder, SF2 only. Blender is to try to learn to make some of my own models (at least simpler stuff, dont think i'll have the time for a decade to get as complex as an aircraft) the others were Christmas presents. i get to them now and again but am barely to the point of takeing off and setting down in one piece the entire screen and game collection. beach and forest games are simple shooters in Unreal from a QA class i took years ago. Civilization V is both the game equilvilent of Pringles and the devil. "one more turn" at 6 pm turns into "shit i gotta go to work in 3 hours" at 4am background is artwork from my oldest, a birthday present from a few years back
  13. Thats good, i misunderstood things as to be that a version was free for a month around Christmas. being a contributor (and not getting it through the public venues), i had not been paying as close of attention as i could have to the cost. comment above has been edited back at piecemeal; so go and get it dude!
  14. i hear you although i will probably fail the space saving race. got a new system last year, so doing a whole new install philosophy. catch is im going from about 6 fat folders to skinnier, just what i need for that region/era folders. but about 17 of them.........
  15. ooooor, you could just slap a J65 into a SabreDog. K model has your 20mm cannon, Winder capable, and with the added thrust (almost as much as a J47 with afterburner) probably no slouch manuevering (double down if one were to mod an afterburning J65)
  16. go look at eburger's Med Crisis mod. naval based and several differrent skins for the stock Cats. if you can, check out the ODS mod. yes it costs money (a subscription although i think even 1 month gets it for you) and yes its TMF. but they are some pretty good skins, and decal based marking system (not mine this time) so you can change up to the squadron you want EDIT: now available for free but for completely free option, go with Crisis in the Med or NF5 good to see you back in actively again btw
  17. no they sometimes still go on land, game issue as Gepard said. that and interservice politics. to stay relevant the Navy did go and make the early Arleigh Burkes amphibious. but got stuck with them when the Marines said "how dumb do you think we are" when BuShips tried to pass them off as really large tanks (yes, that last was a joke)
  18. check the mega installs . NATO Fighters 5 would be a good start point i think.
  19. that will do it welcome to the wonderful world of ini editing......
  20. well damn. Guess the Soviet Union finally got their wish of the late 1940s( no German rearmament). about 75 years later , but still
  21. noticed it on a seperate question some time ago. typing this directly into the forum strikes through all the words that follow. found that out since i was posting a question and my examples were and [Strike_61] see what i did there?
  22. the funniest thing to me is how mission creep is going to make the F-15EX look bad. it was first proposed for one thing its original purpose was to replace the Eagles in Air National Guard units. all of those units have an air soveriegnty mission : they are the first called when someone gets highjacked, an airliner is in distress, someone is purposefully (or even accidentally) violating a no go zone, and when Russia (and one day China) wants to fly some large aircraft at the edge of our airspace. you dont need stealth to be the night watchman of your own airspace. and for anyone misbehaving, yellow bands visible off pylons are a greater incentive to get your act straight than a closed weapons bay. but it would defeat alot of arguements previously made on many topics by the brass to Congress and the public. so the optionally two seated Eagle will give the ANG units new missions to cover down on plus the fastest way to do it was to base off the latest model currently in production, which was the QA iirc. there hasnt been a single seater Eagle built probably since the Obama administration. my final take on it, is not replacing an F-4 with a P-40. its realizing you dont need to daily drive your 68 Camaro anymore, and getting a 22 Camaro. more bells and whistles, less time under the hood to keep it running (plus under warranty) and realistically about the same performance as when the original came off the line. yeah it will be more expensive (direct cost or converting 1968 dollars to 2022 dollars) but everything is over time. and while not an F-35 (or22) hater, you do need different tools for some jobs.
  23. sorry, at this time Charlie Chaplin has not been imported into the game dunno why my mind went there first, but it did and couldnt resist. now back to gepard for the real answer
  24. theres a reason why the modder of all disciplines sing songs of praise on that. check your model, check a skin, check placement of a decal, hitboxes, animations. almost all able to view after saving the relevant ini or image file (a new skin folder you have to start then quit the game, but then any alterations within can be viewed in LODViewer
