Elch's Vought F-119 Project
daddyairplanes replied to CheckSixCharlie's topic in Mods & Skinning Discussion
If Blender, look up Mues exporter, in the SF2 download section. Would link it, but on the phone in hospital wait room ATM ( no worries, planned procedure but still in a wait room) Also, Blender 2.79 is the version that works with the exporter iirc -

do you have a copy of the Thirdwire exporter? also important, are you working in 3ds MAX 2009 or Blender 2.79 (in which case you would need Mues exporter)? it does look pretty good if not a little unusual (most what ifs do tho so not a bad thing). few practical observations; for a naval interceptor (production version not paper proposal) i would think the wings a little longer and stabs abit bigger for better control and lower speed coming on the boat. look at the F-35C in real life, it has the biggest wings of the three and its directly because of needing a lower landing speed. but.... if youre carrying Phoenix internally, you got hella internal space. enought tocbe a very viable alternative to hte real F-111. and as shown it would do well dashing down low i think (high wing loading, doesnt buffet as much in the weeds). well and ditching the navy colors! not trying to be a rivet counter, its your bird do as you want. just my observations on how programs that went on to full careers went (both in what worked and in how they looked in the beginning) welcome the party, im one of many thats watching with interest -
Kamov ka-50 for strike fighters 2

no. 3ds Max 2009 (if you use TKs exporter) or Blender (if you use Mues) only -
as part of my contrary nature and counter to everyone saying theres edited ones in the big mods extract the one from stock. keep a copy stuck somewhere not in your mod folder. then play with it and add your desired nations. if you mess something up, then you can always drop that saved copy in and start over. in time you'll get to know it (and the other inis) well enough to catch cool stuff (or mistakes) in the other modded ones. not entirely the path i took learning it, but it does mix you up when learning and something is way different in what say, the two Kevins put out vs what TK put out (like my habit of every damn thing in a decal.ini being DecalLevel=2)

before scrolling down, i thought to myself "streakeagle must be jumping up and down right about now" will be one watching from the sidelines at first. but if they have European based squadrons, and Euro 1 skins (as well as Hill 2) out of the box, might have to scrape up some funds....

by all accounts from the operators (not testers, politicians, keyboard warriors or anyone else that doesnt actually fly the thing operationally) it is a massive game changer. pretty much all the promises of the last 50 years actually come true. especially in the BVR, and precision strike games. not to mention already being the most mass produced and distributed stealth platform ever at barely a quarter of the planned production run complete. say i drank the kool aid or whatever, but folks trash talked pretty much every tactical aircraft since the F-111. most have gone on to be legends, and those retired revered by many. the Panther is at the start of its career, and if Israeli use so far is anything to go by it will be a bright one. pretty sure we cant fully represent it in SF2. might be a stretch for DCS even

abit but not the longest out there by a long shot

no worries on that, RL is picking up abit for me and the time for modding will be cut down (even if the "ooh i wanna do this" doesnt) i was actually more worried you'd say "looks simple" and try to tackle it now

going with the google search, given how many posts (including DoD) use Russian equipment as photos in posts about American military im more amused than mad. at least this guy said "wow, A-10s and Desert Storm logos!" when selecting pics. the text of the post was about a DFC awarded mission providing cover for a pilot rescue attempt

long term request (several months away, not now I mean it! ) AGM-28 Hound Dog. the current one's mapping wont allow for the camo that was present from early 70s to retirement in 1978 (although not actively deployed past mid 1975) but i mean it when i say please consider adding to the bottom of the list for now

well rivets and panel lines are generally speaking geometric shapes and easy to upscale to a degree. always best to get a library of very large source pics on stencils and unit markings. TV lies when it claims the computer expert can blow up something tiny and make it presentable what ever the software

Weapons Loadout start dates... is it possible?
daddyairplanes replied to daddyairplanes's topic in General Discussion
didnt even realize that, although makes sense. the capability had to be there to get realized in mods. again, i did a search of what i could think of that might have it and came up dry before asking did look in the knowledge base first, did not see mention in either thread on custom loadouts about dates. added a post bringing it up. waiting on moderator approval (nudge nudge other Kevin ) -
in defense spending, common sense is 20 places below the lowest consideration. whatever the brass and pols may say

Custom loadouts
daddyairplanes replied to Brain32's topic in Basic Aircraft Modding (INI, Skins, Weapon Hardpoints)
so to add (since i couldnt find this in here earlier) you can also set default start dates for the loadouts. say for when different weapons were used. example below Strike<-------------------------------------------------------------- original Loadout[01].WeaponType=Mk15 Loadout[01].Quantity=1 Strike_61 <-------------------------------------------------------------- original StartDefaultDate=1961 <----------------------------------------- the first line in red sets the starting date DefaultFor=STRIKE <--------------------------------------------- the second line in red will make this loadout the default for what ever stock mission you need. in this case STRIKE Loadout[01].WeaponType=MK39_3M Loadout[01].Quantity=1 also remember to add square brackets to your mission types, Strike and Strike_61 in this example. adding in the post seems to strike out the text after adding like so -
Weapons Loadout start dates... is it possible?
daddyairplanes replied to daddyairplanes's topic in General Discussion
thank you. that post did point me back out to the exact phrasing i need. you know i thought i had done that. but looked up my copy (G_89), not the one in ODS (G_90). just getting older and have a bit on plate is all and i know about the search bar. i've ignored it for years . but seriously, did look in knowledge base and a couple mods i thought had it before posting. knowledge base doesnt have this entry, will see if i can get it added -
ok, so i know you can create seperate entries to represent different years like Strike_61 vs but can we put a default start date in like with the skins. something that might look like Strike Loadout[01].WeaponType=MK15 Loadout[01].Quantity=1 [Strike_61] SetDefaultStartDate=1961<--------------------------------------- this or something similar Loadout[01].WeaponType=MK39_3M Loadout[01].Quantity=1 am i in the right ball park, or thinking of something left field enough to not work?
-
yes. options and version ini's stay in a mod folder within the SavedGames/Thirdwire folder. in the options ini, type in the file path you want the actual mods to go to. do not put the above mentioned ini's in the folder that you actually keep the mods in

ok everyone, i have spoken with Ravenclaw on 2000lb AN-M66's. no joy there for now, is there anything else newer out there (would hope there is since we do have multiple WW2 bombers on hand)
-
great work, looking forward to this and i thought i was the only one so obsessed i had to have spreadsheets when working a mod
-
thank you all for the call out on Ravenclaws thread. i didnt think he did the older unguided stuff too. no joy within the released packs, but a hit on the 1000 pounder 3 pages in the thread (and still looking). its amazing how long this has been in the works RustyKurnass, thats an impressive collection there. this is for the B-47 project tho, so me thinks plain jane bombs will do
-
we have the 500 lb (AN-M64), 1000 lb (AN-M65) and 2000 lb (AN-M66) bombs in Gunnys weapons pack do we have any newer ones, and do we have a 4000 lb bomb (AN-M56)?

i knew it at first from mentions in lots of cold war fiction/games. then ran into some cats that have been there. generally in winter. suck place, cool people from what i've heard (again, everyone claimed to be there in winter)
