- added new skins (Green or Tan) to objects that lacked one or the other
- added missing Freq data to a number of radars
- implemented numerous tweaks to launchers & radars to standardize data and improve performance
- overhauled weapons to standardize data (w/ 3rdWire weapons as baselines) & improve performance
- added RadarFamily data w/ associated TEWs entries and TGAs
Please review the following section for notes on what's included in this package and how to install the various components.

In the root of whatever folder you unpack this mod to, you will find the following standalone files, which include data to be added to various config files:
- MISSILEOBJECT_ADDITIONS.TXT: additions to MissileObject.INI, which should be unpacked from the ObjectData001.CAT in your SF2 installation directory and placed in \Objects in your Mods Folder.
- SOUNDLIST_ADDITIONS.TXT: additions to SoundList.INI, which should be unpacked from the FlightData.CAT in your SF2 installation directory and placed in \Flight in your Mods Folder.
- RWR-LST_ADDITIONS.TXT: additions to individual aircraft RWR.LSTs (these reference the new TGAs included in \Flight)
NOTE: to unpack files from CATs, you will need the ThirdWire CAT Extractor tool, which can be found at ThirdWire's web site:

\SOUNDS: sounds for the various weapons and ground objects; to be placed in \Sounds in your Mods Folder.
\OBJECTS\GROUNDOBJECT_BLUE: "friendly" (mostly NATO) SAM launchers and radars; to be placed in \Objects\GroundObject in your Mods Folder.

Artillery Firebase Ver 1 February 2011
This is my second attempt at creating good ground targets. My first is the Infantry Outpost.
The Artillery Firebase is friendly but can be easily converted to an enemy firebase.
What's included in this file:
1. Arty_Firebase.LOD - a converted groundplatte LOD from Mitch's original Factory Place. Drop it into the terrain of your choice.
2. ground_plateFB.TGA - my attempt on a artillery battery. Drop it into the terrain of your choice.
3. Add-ons needed to make this mod work. Drop these into the terrain folder.
The following items were borrowed from:

Lockheed P-38J, 20th FG, 8th AF, ETO

Lockheed P-38J, 20th FG, 8th AF, ETO
= For SF2, Any and All (Full-5 Merged Prefered/Reccomended) =
- Something for the European Theatre
*Note: due to certain changes in the data ini, it may NOT be usable in any 1stGen game install at any patch level. End Users who choose to do so can expect no support if/when issues arise.*
This pack is a revamp of the 1stGen (SF/Wo*) WW2 ETO 20th FG pak originally released in 2009. It now incorporates the changes seen on the Recently Released PTO P-38 Pak. This is the complete aircraft, with all the "little fiddly bits" included.
The 3 squadrons of the Group represented are:
55th FS
77th FS (both in OD/Grey)
79th FS (in Natural Metal)
All skins are in jpg format. Included are sounds, pilot figue, and weapons (excepting the standard WW2 AN series bombs, readly available all over the place!). Decal randomization is set to TRUE. The Squadron Name display on the Loadout Screen has been activated via my "fake" SqTail decal, so their modern names will show.
As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. Please READ them! The original readme from my SF/Wo* release is included, as it contains further explainations and historical notations. Wolf's original release readme is also included

Combat Outpost
By krfrge
Combat Outpost Ver 1 October 2011
This is my fourth attempt at creating good ground targets. The others have been: Infantry Outpost, Artillery Firebase and Allied Base Camp.
This basically a friendly combat outpost that should fit in well on the Afghanistan terrain but can be easily used on any terrain.
See the READ_ME for instructions.
Suggestions / problems please contact me at Combat Ace.
Dedicated to those currently serving!

SF2 WW2 PTO P-38 Lightning Pak

SF2 WW2 PTO P-38 Lightning Pak
- More P-38 Lightnings in the Pacific -
-- Something for the PTO players --
= For SF2, Full-4/5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) =
*There is a distinct possibility that this mod will =NOT= work in SF/Wo* 1stGen game installs, due to the excessive modifications made to fit them into the SF2 environment.*
Mods/reskins/redecaling for Wolf257's WW2 aircaft. This package contains, broken down by aircraft and skins:
P-38H
9th FS, 49th FG "Flying Knights"
39th FS, 35th FG "Flying Cobras"
P-38J
431st FS, 475th FG "Satan's Angles"
7th FS, 49th FG "Screaming Demons"
P-38L
80th FS, 8th FG "Headhunters"
433rd FS, 475th FG "Blue Devils"
P-38M* (NightLightning -radar equiped 2-seat nightfighter)
6th NFS
(*Note: M's never reached operational, squadron status before war's end. This one is more for fun)
All skins are in jpg format, Decal Randomization is TRUE. All get new SF2 versions of the original 'box art' hangar screens. Damage textures are the old tga versions.
All have semi-compliant SF2 Flight Models, but they do need further fine tuning by experts. All lighting is 100% historically correct.
As always, fairly easy to follow, highly detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too. Remember -- these are very old models, so they "are as they is". All original readmes, when discoverable, are included.

P-51C Mustang, ETO
By Wrench
P-51C Mustang, ETO by Wolf257
= For SF2, Any and All* =
*Note: reccomended to have at least SF2 Expansion Pak 1, and be at the latest patch level, as the decals referenced on the Generic NM skin call to several stock 3W decals. If not at that level, you'll have to find alternative serial numbers and period-correct USAAF national insignia decals to use*
Some slight modifications and tweeks to Wolf's P-51C "Malcolm Hood" USAAF Mustang bring it closer in line for SF2 usage.
Included are 3 skins:
356th FS, with 99.9% hisorically accurate codes, serials and nose arts
'Generic' Olive Drab
'Generic' Natural Metal.
All skins are in jpg format, and decal randomization is set to TRUE.
2 Data inis are suppliled; one is the original from way back when, and the one being used now has some of the SF2 statements. It's not perfect; it seems works well enough, but does need further adjustments and fine-tuning by an expert.
A new SF2 version of the original 'box art' Hangar screen is included, as are the needed weapons (ie: the drop tank), sounds and the pilot figure.

Mustang III, RAF, 112 Squadron, MTO
By Wrench
Mustang III, Royal Air Force, MTO by Wolf257
= For SF2, Any and All =
*Specifically designed for a SF2, MTO-Centric based mods folder*
This is a modifcation of Wolf257's P-51B Mustang into the earlier Mk.III version (non Malcom Hood), as used the RAF in the MTO (and elsewhere, too!)
This pak, a complete aircraft with all the trimmings, represents aircraft from 112 Squadron 'Sharkmouths', circa 1944/45.
All skins are in jpg format, and decal randomization is set to TRUE.
A new SF2-compliant Hangar screen is included, as are the needed weapons (ie: the drop tank), sounds and the pilot figure.
FM is similiar to the recently (re)release USAAF P-51C (ok, it's really the same one, nationalized)
As always, fairly easy to follow, highly detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them.
Wolf's original (P-51B) release readme, and my RAF Mustang III readme are included for historical purposes

SF2V Air & Ground War Expansion Pack v2.0 - VPAF Add-on
By eburger68
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
SF2V Air & Ground Expansion Pack v. 2.1 - VPAF Add-On
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is an add-on package for the "Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam Air & Ground Expansion Pack v. 2.1" available at CombatAce. This add-on makes most major aircraft of the Vietnamese People's Air Force (VPAF) flyable with custom third-party cockpits and avionics. It also contains "Red" versions of the three main SF2V campaigns, allowing you to fly VPAF MiGs against opposing USAF, USN, & USMC aircraft.
This add-on package is designed to be applied over the top of an existing installation of version 2.1 of the Expansion Pack with the latest update package applied. You can download the four main Expansion Pack files here:
Part 1:
http://combatace.com/files/file/10189-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-gold-part-1/
Part 2:
http://combatace.com/files/file/10190-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-gold-part-2/
Part 3:
http://combatace.com/files/file/10192-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-gold-part-3/
Part 4:
http://combatace.com/files/file/10193-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-gold-part-4/
The latest update package for the Expansion Pack can be found here:
Jan. 2012 Update:
http://combatace.com/files/file/10466-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-jan-2012-update/
You should have the latest updates for the Expansion Pack before applying this add-on package.
Please take a look over the remainder of this ReadMe before installing the update.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Installation
~~~~~~~~~~~~
The installation process has two phases: one for the main add-on files; a second for optional aircraft.
Here's how to apply this update package:
1. Ensure that SF2V is properly installed & updated.
2. Ensure that the Expansion Pack v. 2.1 (Mar. 2010) is installed to your SF2V Mod Folder
and that the latest update package for the Expansion Pack is applied.
3. Unpack SF2V_AG-XP_v2_VPAF.7z to a safe place on your drive.
4. Drag and drop all the files and folders from within the \To_Mod_Folder to your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted.
5. Now open the \Optional directory, which contains different versions of the MiG-17 and MiG-17PF. Note that what you install from the \Optional directory is determined by whether or not your SF2V installation also includes Strike Fighters 2: Europe (SF2E) as part of a "merged install."
- MiG-17PF
The original Expansion Pack supplies two different versions of the MiG-17PF. By default a third-party "mod" version was installed. Optionally, users with installations that included SF2E could replace the "mod" version with the stock 3rdWire version.
The \Optional directory in this add-on package contains updated files for both versions. (Hint: the third-party "mod" version is identified in-game as the MiG-17PF Fresco-E; the stock 3rdWire verison is identified as the MiG-17PF Fresco-D.)
Choose the version that you have installed, and apply the updated files for that version to the \Objects\Aircraft directory in your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted.
- MiG-17
The original Expansion Pack supplies a substitute, optional version of the MiG-17 for those using installations that do not include SF2E.
If you installed this optional/substitute version of the MiG-17 (because your install lacks SF2E), then apply the updated files for that version to the \Objects\Aircraft directory in your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted.
(If your install includes SF2E, then you do not need to install the updates for the substitute version of the MiG-17, as you're using the original 3rdWire version available in SF2E.)
That's it. You should be good to go.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What's Included
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This add-on package supplies the following updates for your SF2V Expansion Pack install:
- cockpits and related files to make most VPAF fighters flyable
- new engine sounds for VPAF MiGs
- new Hangar & Loading screens for flyable MiGs
- "Red" versions of the three main SF2V campaigns:
1. The American War (Rolling Thunder)
2. The Mad Man Nixon (Linebacker I)
3. Dien Bien Phu of the Air (Linebacker II)
~~~~~~~
SF2 WW2 Mustangs of the CBI
By Wrench
SF2 WW2 CBI Mustangs
-- Something for the CBI players --
= For SF2, Full-4/5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) =
*There is a possibility that this mod will =NOT= work in SF/Wo* 1stGen game installs, due to the excessive modifications made to fit them into the SF2 environment.*
**Notex2: These aircraft should ONLY be used in a seperate CBI-centric mods folder to prevent them from showing up where, historically, they shouldn't. The Aircraft/GroundObject sets for CBI are substantially different from Central or SouthWest Pacific areas. You'll need the Burma and China WW2 terrains from the 1stGen Terrains Downloads. Be advised, that even though I reworked both terrains some years ago, they need yet another going over to correct many faults; but they ARE perfecly playable as is, with the needed SF2 terrain conversion tweeks that is :)**
This pack contains 3 aircraft, by or modded from those build by Wolf257, for use in the China-Burma-India Theatre by the USAAF. They are:
A-36 Apache
P-51A Mustang
P-51B Mustang
All aircraft are from the 311th FBG, and represent the various squadrons. These are the ONLY early model Mustangs to see service in the Pacifc Theatre (well, ok, actually CBI!), and no where else. The D model's didn't start to make their appearences until US Forces landed in the Phillipines. Hence, again, the need for a seperate CBI-centric install.
New (semi)compliant SF2 FMs were cobbled together. As has become expected, the FM is NOT perfect, and needs further fine-tuning by Experts. New hangar screens, theatre specific weapons (except the WW2 bombs -you should have them already), a pilot figure and engine sounds are included. All skins are in jpg format, and decal randomization is set to TRUE. As is usual, all lighting is 100% historically correct. Remember, too, the A-36 and P-51A are the Allison engined versions, and therefore not as 'quick' as the Merlin powered models.
As always, fairly easy to follow, highly detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too. All original readmes are included for historical purposes (when discoveralbe from the archives)
This is the recon variant of the Mustang, the RF-51D. Like all other Mustangs, it is fully capable of most other operational Missions (CAS,STRIKE,Armed_Recon, but not auntie-ship or Air-To-Air). The primairy use was the photo-recon role; all other ground-attack roles are secondary.
This skin represents aircraft from the 45th TRS "Polka Dots" during the late 1940s and 50s, with special focus on the Korean War.
The skin is in DDS format, and decal randomization is set to TURE. 18 new serial and BuzzNumber decals are supplied.
No weapons are included excepting the drop tank data; all others can be found in the GunnyPak or the KAW Weapons Pak, both available at here at CA. The pilot figure and engine sounds are included, as in an SF2-style hangar screen.
The Standard Keystrokes operate the canopy (Shift/0)
SF2 RAF WW2 ETO Mustang Pak
SF2 RAF WW2 ETO Mustang Pak
= For SF2, Any and All (Full-5 Merged Prefered/Reccomended) =
- Something for the European Theatre -
*Note: due to certain changes in the data ini, it may NOT be usable in any 1stGen game install at any patch level. End Users who choose to do so can expect no support if/when issues arise. Also, for those unwilling to patch SF2 to the latest level, the jpg skins may cause visual issues.*
This pack is a revamp of the 1stGen (SF/Wo*) WW2 ETO RAF Mustangs originally released in 2007, now bundled into a single package. It now incorporates the changes seen on the Recently Released PTO Mustangs Pak. This is the complete aircraft, with all the "little fiddly bits" included.
There are 3 complete aircraft in this pak:
Mustang 1, 26 Squadron
Mustang 1A, 170 Squadron
Mustang III (Malcom Hood), 315 Squadron "City of Deblin", Polish
All skins are in jpg format. Decal randomization is TRUE. Included are sounds, pilot figure, and weapons. The Squadron Name display on the Loadout Screen has been activated via my "fake" SqTail decal, so their modern names will show (if listed in the stock SquadronList.ini, which 170 & 315 are not).
A (semi)compliant SF2 level FM has been cobbled together, and while not 100% perfect, flys exeeding nicely! Basiclly, the same one as used on the CBI USAAF Mustangs.
The 'box art' style hanger screens have been updated to fit SF2 styling; they and any loading screens are also in jpg format.
A Userlist.ini was NOT created, as these are 'nationalized' aircraft, non-exported, with a single user.
As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. Please READ them! The original readmes from the SF/Wo* releases are included, as it contains further explainations and historical notations. Wolf's original release readme is also included.
SF2 WW2 Spitfire Mk.1A by Mod Mafia/TMF
SF2 WW2 Spitfire Mk.1A by Mod Mafia/TMF
= For SF2, Full-4/5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) =
*Note: There is a distinct possibility that this mod may not work in SF/Wo* 1stGen game installs at any patch level, due to the excessive modifications made to fit them into the SF2 environment. End Users that attempt to do so, do so at their own risk.*
A brand "new" model that was never completed when Bpao passed away a few year back. I've been fortunate enough to be allowed to complete his work, as a member of the Mod Mafia.
This is the Vickers/Supermarine Spitfire Mk.1A. This pak contains skins/decal sets for the following RAF Squadrons:
No. 41
No. 54
No. 92
No. 610
in their 'Battle of Britain' livery. National markings are painted on, and all the aircraft use a 'pool' of indvidual call letters (A,B,C, etc) and serial numbers (all historiclly Mk.1s). Each has the Squadron letters (DW, EB, QJ, etc) also as decals. This will make it easier for other squadrons to be created by simply making new 2-digit Squadron letters. There is a blank bmp called "DW" in the 41 Squadron decals folder that can be resued for this. Those that know how, can duplicate my work quite easily.
All skins are in jpg format, Decal Randomization is TRUE. A new SF2 version of the original 'box art' hangar and loading screens are included. Damage textures are dds format. A 'destroyed.lod' is included, taken from the WW2 terrains (its used for destroyed statics). Those with SF2I Expansion Pak1 can easliy switch to the 3W destroyed Spit lod.
The canopy/entry door open with the Standard Animation Keystroke , Shift/0. For those RAF Squadron listed in the game's SquadronList.ini, my 'fake sqtail' decal will activate their "Displayed Name" on the LoadoutScreen.
When 'in game', you'll see "Spitfire Mk.1A (TMF)" on the aircraft drop-down selection window. This will differentiate it from any other Mk.1s you may have. The Official Squadron Crest is used for the 'paint chip' for each skin.
As always, fairly easy to follow, detailed install instructions are included. So, please READ them. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too for futher explinations, clarifactions, illuminations and so forth.
-For WW2 MTO Usage-
*Note: There is a distinct possibility that this mod MAY work in SF/Wo* 1stGen game installs
However, some data ini statements will not be in effect in 1stGen SF/Wo* at any patch level
(with the possible exception of WoI plus it's ExpansionPak -this has not been tested, as I
ONLY mod for SF2). It is designed for use in SF2, at the most current patch level. Your
milage will vary!*
A brand "new" model that was never completed when Bpao passed away a few year back. I've
been fortunate enough to be allowed to complete his work, as a member of the Mod Mafia.
Skin/Decals set included are for:
31st FG, USAAF:
307th FS
308th FS
309th FS
Royal Air Force:
92 Squadron
417 Squadron
All the units served in the MTO.
All skins are in jpg format, Decal Randomization is TRUE. A "new" SF2 version of the
original 'box art' hangar screen and loading screens are included.
All markings are decals (excepting National Markings, that are painted on); making it
supremely easy to recreate other squadron users.
A user list is included; operational service dates have been rounded to the closest whole
Year. All weapons, sounds, pilot figure(s) (including the 'fake pilot') are included. For
those squadrons listed in the stock SquadronList.ini, my 'fake SqTail' decal will activate
the Displayed Name on the Loaodut Screen.
The Canopy opens with the Standard Animation Keystroke , Shift/0
Damage textures are set for DDS; tga versions are supplied for 1stGen users that attempt to
use it in SF/Wo*.
When 'in game', you'll see "Spitfire Mk.VIII (TMF)" in the aircraft selection drop-down
window. This will diferentiate it from any other Mk.VIIIs you may (or may not) have .
SF2 Republic F-105G Thunderchief Wild Weasel by ArmorDave
By Wrench
SF2 Republic F-105G Thunderchief Wild Weasel by ArmorDave
= For SF2, Full-4/5 Merged (Full-5 Reccomended/Preferred) =
*Note: the destroyed model referenced herein 'looks' for the stock destroyed F-105D lod. So, at the very least you MUST have either SF2E, or SF2V to gain access to said destroyed model. Hence the Full 4/5 Merged reccomendation*
Some major upgrades to ArmorDave F-105G "Wild Weasel" Thunderchief, bring it in line with SF2 at the Full-5 Merged/Latest Patch level (as of July 2012).
This mod is desinged to REPLACE any eariler SF2 update/upgrade versions of AD's aircraft that may be availalbe.
Skins remain in bmp format (as they're not excpetionally large in size), and Decal Randomization is TRUE. Damage textures are the older tga versions.
The data ini has all new FM parameters, loadouts have been 'adjusted' for Game usage (and may not reflect Real World situations, but =WILL= reflect Game World situations). New engine sound, and some other small tweeks. A new SF2 version of my 'box art' Hangar screen is included.
No weapons are included, other than the drop tanks, as I've referenced all stock 3W items.
See the "Notes" section for more info on the changes.
When 'in game', you'll see on the Aircraft Selection Drop-Down Menu
F-105G Thunderchief WW (AD)
This will differentiate this aircraft from any others you may (or may not) have.
As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. So, please -READ- them. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too for futher explinations, clarifactions, illuminations and so forth. And notes about any SF2V campaign that may use this aircraft; some slight editing of the campaign ini WILL be necessary due to the 'name change'.
A full listing of credits, as always, is below the Install Instructions.
Full-Scale Iceland Terrain
By Baltika
***********************************
Iceland 02 Full-Scale Terrain v2.0
by Baltika
***********************************
This is a major upgrade to my little Iceland terrain.
New features:-
Forest tiles and trees - yup, there are now some forests on Iceland, just as in reality.
Extensive targetisation upgrade, with many newly targetised areas.
Several new terrain tile types.
Network of NATO radar stations, with accurate operational dates.
Re-tiling of some coastal areas to fix tsunamis.
Some terrain HFD work for greater accuracy.
Custom environment file to create snowstorm conditions for inclement weather. Cheers to Stary for that one ;-)
No substitute for SF2:NA, I know, but Merry Christmas everybody ;-)
This will likely be the final version of this terrain. But, if anybody spots any show-stopping bugs, please drop me a line at Combatace and I'll try to sort them out.
Slainthe!
Baltika
21 December 2011
***********************************
Thanks to:-
Gepard for his terrain tutorials, which started this adventure off all those years ago. Also for his WoE European style runways which are included here.
JSFAggie for his Highway runway Mod, which has been altered and modded for use as glacier-based FARPs.
Brain32 for sound advice on creating terrain tiles. Cheers mate;-) Your hi-res lava tile has not been used here, but may see the light of day if I ever manage a hi-res set for this little terrain.
CA_Stary for being terrain guru extraordinaire. Also, thanks to Stary for his Heavy Snowfall mod for WoX series. I have included this for Iceland terrain and updated it for SF2 shaders, so you will get near-whiteout blizzard conditions for inclement weather setting. Happy flying ;-)
Thanks also to Brain32 and CA_Stary for their forest tiles and trees, which I have adapted for use as Iceland's sparse forests. Cheers guys ;-)
GrimViper, for pointing out that Iceland does actually have trees and forests. . . Cheers mate, hope you like it ;-)
Wrench, Dave & all the gang at CA for invaluable advice on how to make things work, garnered over the years and hopefully put to good effect here.
MajorLee, Deuces, Edward and anyone else who made a terrain mod and posted about how to do it. Thanks!
TK for making the whole bag of bolts hang together.
***********************************
Installation instructions:-
Delete your old "ICELAND02" folder. This version is a complete replacement for any previous version.
Unzip the package to your desktop, or wherever is convenient.
Drop the "ICELAND02" folder into your Username\Saved Games\Thirdwire\StrikeFighters2\Terrains folder.
If there is no terrains folder in your mod folder, create one and drop the ICELAND02 folder into it.
Drop the "Effects" folder into your Username\Saved Games\Thirdwire\StrikeFighters2\ folder.
That's it! Go fly, and fight for the liberation of Iceland.
This terrain has been completed using SF2 November 2011 patch. It is not supported on WoX series or earlier patch levels. But, if you really must try, use the files included in the "Use_in_WoX" folder for SF1 series. Your mileage may vary.
If you use a custom environmental mod, bear in mind that any changes must be made to the ICELAND02_ENVIRONMENTSYSTEM.INI file included here. Just make sure your new file includes the following line:-
InclementEffect=BlizzardEffect
Or else, you will lose the snowfall weather conditions. It is set up this way so as not to interfere with any other environmental mod you may use.
Curtiss P-40B Tomahawk, USAAC, Early WW2
By Wrench
Curtiss P-40B Tomahawk, USAAC Early War
-- Something for the PTO players --
= For SF2, Full-4/5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) =
*There is a distinct possibility that this mod will =NOT= work in SF/Wo* 1stGen game installs, due to the excessive modifications made to fit them into the SF2 environment. You try so at your own risk; no support is/will be available for such attempts*
This is a compliation pak of several of my 1stGen USAAC/AAF P-40B mods, recreating USAAC P-40Bs at the beginning of WW2. Based off Wolf's original RAF Tomahawk, now nationalized for American usege. This package contains 3 skin and decal sets:
47th Pursuit Squadron, Bellow Field, Hawaii;
"Pearl Harbor Defender" -with Historical Markings.
"USAAC";
representing the 24th Purusit Group in the Phillipines, Dec 8, 1941. Marking are 98% accurate - those units "closest" to the expected War Zone had slightly different markings they US Mainland units. There are 100 "plane-in-group' numbers, represening the 24th's 4 Squadrons.
"The Sky Legion";
a fanciful skin based on the film "Sky Captain and the World of Tommorrow". Just for fun! If you don't want it showing up, simply rename the textureset.ini, and delete the entry from the P-40B.ini.
The markings on BOTH the 47th PS and 24th PG are correct for the period. All skins are in jpg format, Decal Randomization is TRUE. A new SF2 version of the original 'box art' hangar screen is included . New DDS damage textures. A destroyed model is included, as is the in-line 'CRSPRP' engine sound (very Allison like!) "Time in Service" has been limited to 1940 start year, and a 'guesstimated' end service date of May, 1941. They were all pretty much used up by then, and replaced by D,E,and F models in the SoWesPac. All running lights are 100% correct for this aircraft.
A semi-SF2 compliant Flight Model was "fiddled into being", but it does needs further fine tuning, as always, by experts. Even though THIS version is a non-exported aircraft, a Userlist.ini was created for it. Allowed Mission statements now more reflect the actual usage philosophy of the time frame. (no Strike, Anti-ship, or Sweep) The aircraft was designed more for a 'point defence interceptor', and has no provisions for external stores of any kind.
As always, fairly easy to follow, highly detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too. Original readmes, when discoverable, have been included for historical purposes.
Mikoyan Gurevych MiG-29EJ Fulcrum
By ValAstur
I modded the MiG-29 from The Mirage Factory to make it look like a fictional fighter and recon plane for the japanese air self defense force.
BACKGROUND
The change in the government of North Korea (KJI jr. substituting his father) led to a fear from a neighbour who was continuing his nuclear weapon program and becoming an unstable factor in the surroundings of Japan. China, the big brother to NK, kept influencing KJI not to try anything that could lead to a greater war in the far east. Although Pyongyang assures not to threaten peace in Eastern Asia, the ministry of defense of Japan decided to act. The ministry of defense created a new squadron, the 65th Hikotai, stationed in Miho. The squadron badge was composed by a classic origami figure.
The decision on which plane to choose for this new squadron did not take long. Two russian MiG-29 were forced to land in Japan because one of them suffered engine problems. The JASDF used this opportunity to take a closer look on this plane. It's easy maintenance and the low demand of time needed to get the plane ready were the main reasons for choosing the plane.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Drop the folders into your MODS Folder. If asked to overwrite, click yes.
CREDITS
Big thanks go to Crusader for allowing me to release this plane.
All credit belongs to ALL the members of The Mirage Factory for their fantastic work they did with this model.
Special credit goes to Oliver Anguille for his effort and hard work. May he rest in peace.
Also big thanks to dast24 for porting the plane to SF2-Standards.
Old readme from the original SFP1-Model is included.
For any further questions don't hesitate to contact me.
Kindest regards
The Six Million Meter Map (fix TextureList)
By Lexx_Luthor
Currrently correct Texturlist file. Download includes only the tiles needed for "simple" version without complications of the Alpine biome attempted earlier.
6000km in size and purely experimental, this map is the beginning of a long term terrain project that hopefully may generate some interest in classical era strategic air warfare.
USE REQUIREMENT: Be complete Master of the Terrain Editor (TE)....well the map could be used in the game as-is to experiment with, and a few example SAC and PVO airfields are located in interesting locations although some (x > 2400km) don't show up correctly in KMD which was not made for this type of oversize map.
As far as I know, TE by itself can generate a maximum size map of 4800km with four GTOPO30 DEM files. This map is made of several pasted smaller maps, thus allowing a larger size. The included terrain tiles (4km size) are development blanks -- solid colours -- which are required for visibility at full zoomed out views in Terrain Editor. Included are a working Texturelist file and only the needed 71 tile blanks.
Both Texturelist and the CityList filenames begin with "0" -- a zero -- so they appear first in the tiny TE open file box.
A 6000 pixel import map is included. But most simple is to just "open" the HFD file (called "Baikal"), or one may import the 6000 pixel bmp file.
If importing, use this in TE ini file...
[bitmapImport]
HeightScale=41.5
MinLandHeight=1
Before importing, in the TE choose File-New and use the following values...
Terrain Map Size 6000
Texture Tile Resolution 4000
Height Field Resolution 1000
MANY thanks to Gepard for sharing this tip in the Brain Base terrain tutorials ~> http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showforum=191
The 6000 pixel bmp was developed by importing many GTOPO30 DEM files at 25% height scale, then exporting them each at the TE default's 10, then importing the final cut-n-pasted 6000 pixel bmp at height scale of 41.5. This results in 456m height for Lake Baikal which is my reference, and allows a few Himalaya peaks nearing 8800m.
The 4km textures and 1km height field scale are double SF standard, resulting in some loss of terrain detail but the great advantage is a reasonable map size on hard disk and in game loading. A standard detailed map is easily possible, but at four times the size -- a whopping 275MB HFD file. Also, a vastly higher horizon distance can be used without performance loss. I'm currently running 250km horizon distance with an old ATI-9200 video card.
Ideas for terrain tileage came from World Biomes website ~> http://www.blueplanetbiomes.org/world_biomes.htm
