RAF Kestrel GR1 & GR3 Pack by Cocas - V2.0
By ianh755
************************ Royal Air Force Kestrel GR1/3 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2 V2.0 ************************
Due to technical internet issues Cocas has asked me to release this for him as he's unable - This is the V2.0 update of Cocas and Spinners fantastic "Sea Kestrel" pack and is a fairly comprehensive overhaul of the original pack with almost everything either new or improved! This pack includes all the Effects, Weapons and Sounds required to run on a standalone setup but it has only been tested on an Full 5 Merged setup.
Installation
-------------
Unzip then copy and paste the Effects/Flight/Objects/Sounds folders into your Mod folder (usually C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 **or whatever yours is called**).
AIRCRAFT
------------
Aircraft Specific Info -
----------------------
Kestrel GR1 ('87 - '05) - Designed for the RAF as a purely ground attack aircraft alongside the the Royal Navy's Sea Kestrel FRS.1 it had the Radar removed and had the new Angle Rate Bombing System (ARBS) fitted instead but was otherwise virtually identical in performance. The 4 RAF Squadrons equipped with the GR1 were given different paint jobs to reflect their different areas of speciality with 1F & 20R Sqns painted Green for Central Europe, 3F Sqn painted in White/Green winter camo for Northern Europe and 4F Sqn in Desert sand for the middle East.
Kestrel GR3 ('06 - '20) - This massive upgrade saw everything from the engine to weapons to the avionics all hugely upgraded, especially the weapons. It included a new Nose mounted FLIR camera with RWR and the ability to carry the more advanced weapons that the RAF had developed. All 4 Sqns returned to a Grey paint job for the GR3.
OTHER INFO
-----------
Issues -
------
ARBS - I've tried to be tricky here and made the ARBS system a laser designator but with no range. You'll need to fit some LGB's to see it working but if you want to actually drop LGB's then you'll need to add a separate Laser Pod to do the guiding. It does look pretty cool though!
Hovering is quite difficult at 1st. With a fuel weight of under 25% and no weapons you can hover at around 55% thrust but without a working Nozzle gauge it's difficult to tell where your nozzles are pointing, especially as the 3D model nozzles stop moving at only 40' visually! My recommendation is to apply fully forward nozzles (98.5') and then slowly move it backwards until the engine exhaust dirt looks like it's pointing at 90' but it's not ideal (see Alternate Cockpit below).
The mapping is "interesting" in some places with stretching, especially on the 2 Booms. The 3F skin (winter Camo) was really tricky, so much so that I wanted to punch a thousand cute kittens by the end after spending hours/days trying to get the edges to match up! So sadly it's not as good as I'd like but the PS templates are out to so hopefully you can improve on my skin.
*******If you find any issues or find that I've got something wrong please contact me on CombatAce - http://combatace.com/user/64030-ianh755/ *******************
-------------------------------------------------
Alternate Cockpit Usage (for Advanced Users only) -
-------------------------------------------------
Included in this pack is Bobrocks fantastic Harrier AV-8B cockpit which, as it includes important Nozzle info, makes hovering much easier. However the Cockpit is more limited in comparison to the Kestrel (F-23/29) version so, if you're not bothered about trying to hover that much, I'd stick to the original Cockpit. Installation is simply dropping the Cockpit folder with it's 2 ini's into your A/C and altering the aircraftname.ini to point to the 2 new ini's. I'd make a backup before you though just to be safe! Please use at your own risk, if you don't know how to alter ini files then please don't attempt to install the new cockpit in case you break something!
THANKS
--------
Massive thanks to Cocas for creating the 3D model and patiently modifying it everytime I asked for any/every crazy little thing!
Spinner for his fantastic work with the original Pack.
Dels for creating his superb F-23/F-29 cockpit used here with his kind permission.
Bobrock for creating his amazing AV-8B cockpit used here with kind permission.
Ravenclaw007 for the stunning weapons he makes and I continue to enjoy using.
Spillone104 for his Improved Afterburner Effects.
The Various Modders who've made the Pilots and Seats which I used from my install but sadly I can't find out who you are to give full credit (please PM me and I'll update this with your name) but I think its' EBurger68, ChrisBV, Ravenclaw007 and EricJ

Sea Kestrel FRS.1 ('88 - '05) - Designed for the Royal Navy as a Fleet Defence Fighter with a secondary ground attack role. The Sea Kestrel's hovering ability allowed the Royal Navy to keep it's carriers smaller and therefore cheaper. All 3 Sqns were painted in Extra Dark Sea Grey with High Viz roundels.
Sea Kestrel FRS.2 ('06 - '20) - This massive upgrade saw everything from the engine to weapons to the avionics all hugely upgraded, especially the weapons. Cirrus clouds for SF/WoV maps (beta) SP4 update
By Lexx_Luthor
Original cirrus clouds, replaced by these newer effects here...
~> combatace.com/files/file/6567-siberian-sky-cirrus-clouds-for-missions-and-terrains/
----
original description...
:
:
*Beta* test, updated for SP3 and SP4 generation of Patches, of very large layers of high altitude cirrus clouds that can move across SF/WoV maps and can be set to any desired altitude (you can fly through these clouds). Cloud effects are created by a type of "ship" object that follows a waypoint across a map. Read the Install file, it describes what's going on here.
The website is a thread on this at the ThirdWire SF/WoV forums.
Thanks to TK/ThirdWire and all the modders who made this Aw-Sim possible. Thanks to Polak for encouraging me in this.

Operation Crusader 1941, a campaign for WoA
On mid-November 1941, six months had passed since Rommel's Afrika Korps and the Italian Army of Libya had driven back the Western Desert Force to Marmarica, secured positions at Sollum and Halfaya, surrounded and besieged the port of Tobruk. All of the Allied ill-planned counter-attacks against Rommel's strong positions so far had failed. Yet, though scarcely and expensively supplied by sea, the Tobruk Fortress still stood fast, fixing enemy forces and denying this strategic supply port to the Axis. Now Rommel was ready to deliver a heavy and, he hoped, decisive blow against Tobruk by November 20. Therefore, he had ordered his subordinates to ignore all of the deceptive maneuvers the British could attempt against his Eastern positions in order to disorganize the assault.
Unfortunately for Rommel, it was a major offensive that Cunningham's Eighth Army was actually planning, named 'Crusader' after the new cruiser tank model just delivered on the Desert front - both the tank and the offensive crystallizing great hopes. While the XIII Corps was to threaten and locally outflank the main enemy positions at Sollum and Halfaya, the XXX Corps, with 7th Armoured Division as a spearhead, was to advance deeply into Rommel's rear lines and seek a decisive battle in the open against the outnumbered Panzers. The flanking maneuver began on November 16, and when the 7th Armoured Division stroke the Italian division 'Ariete' on November 18 at Bir-el-Gubi, Rommel didn't understand at once that he was to lead a major and decisive battle.

Welcome to the first of my first two campaigns designed for TK games – actually, for a marvellous free add-on for TK games. A 'Gazala 1942' campaign shall indeed be uploaded very soon. So please forgive some possible mistakes and omissions, due to sometimes scarce or conflicting sources. I need your indulgence, and possibly, if wanting to share, your informations and sources to amend my database for my other projects.
Almost all of the required planes and objects are provided already in the excellent Wings over Africa mod, except an Italian skin for Stuka. Fortunately, Wrench has designed an adequate model which is available for downloading at Combatace. Also, my own Soft targets for WoA will be required. All of the links are included in the ReadMe file. Some modified files are provided, allowing some Italian units to fly the Fiat G-50 in campaign with adequate markings, and giving higher hosting allowance to several airfields in order for them to manage the large number of units posted as historically as possible on the start line of the offensive (accurate details in the ReadMe file). A French translation of the campaign texts, as well as a handful of new counters are also included. Now time to take off and fight for Tobruk!

[Fictional] North American C-4 (P-51D) Cimarrón for SF2
By ValAstur
Fictional Mod of the stock P-51D modifying it to a former fighter plane from the spanish air force.
YOU WILL NEED SF2:I with Exp.1 AT LEAST TO GET THIS PLANE RUNNING!
BACKGROUND
After the end of WWII, Spain needed to build up an air force to protect itself from foreign aggressors.
The spanish aircraft manufacturer Hispano Aviación, who possessed the license for the Messerschmitt Me-109, was forced to sell the license to the US or otherwise, among other reasons, Spain would have suffered from an embargo, which the country could have never survived. Since Spain was a former ally of Nazi Germany, the US was interested in all kinds of technology Spain gathered from the Third Reich.
Spain, as a kind of compensation, received former planes from the USAF stationed in Germany. Among them were 48 P-51D Mustangs. The planes arrived by train, most of them in rather bad condition. Most of the planes got repaired, but 10 of them had to be scrapped, taking out still usable parts, and 14 more were stored as replacements for potential losses. 24 entered service in the Ala 7 and did service from 1948 until 1955.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Drop the folders into your Objects folder. If asked to overwrite, click yes.
CREDITS
Big Thanks to Thirdwire for the games and the superb models they have.
Big thanks to Atila from the virtual squadron "Ala 7" for the permission to use their badge as squadron badge.
Kindest regards

Gazala 1942, a campaign for WoA
May 1942. Rommel's successful counter-offensive, following the retreat of Autumn 1941, had regained most of Cyrenaica by February. But since, the Axis forces had been blocked before the Gazala Line: a deep minefield running through the desert from Gazala to Bir Hacheim, stippled with fortified "boxes", and supported by mobile armoured reserves. Having received enough supplies, Rommel now planned to brutally unfreeze the situation. 'Operation Venezia' implied a daring flanking move South: while the Italian X and XXI Corps were tasked to fix the Allied attention North, around Gazala, the Afrika Korps and the Italian XX mobile Corps would outflank the fortified "box" of Bir Hacheim, and face the British tank reserves in the open, far away from the minefields cover, where the supposed superior range of German guns should give a decisive advantage to the Axis forces.
The frontal attack on Gazala was launched in the afternoon of May 26. The flanking move began that same night. In the morning of May 27, the Axis tanks overran one brigade, surprised while isolated in the open, and drove back two others. The Afrika Korps kept the momentum, heading Northeast, while behind it, the Italian armoured division 'Ariete' was tasked to capture Bir Hacheim and secure the supply lines.

Here is my second campaign for Wings over Africa, the free add-on by The Dev A-Team re-enacting the War over the most legendary battlefields of North Africa. All of the required planes and objects are provided already, except my own Soft targets for WoA whose download will be required (link included in the ReadMe file). One single modified file is provided additionally, giving higher hosting allowance to several airfields in order for them to manage the large number of units crowded as historically as possible on both parts of the Gazala Line (accurate details in the ReadMe file). This file is actually the same that the one enclosed with my former campaign Crusader 1941, so is compatible with both campaigns, and doesn't spoil the other campaigns by The Dev A-Team. A French translation of the campaign texts, as well as a handful of new counters are also included. Now choose your side, and protect or break open the gate to Egypt!

1962 the germans at Red Thunder
By Gepard
This campaign is made for a tutorial with the title:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What i must do to to bring a new Air Force in a stock campaign?
===========================================
Lets say i want to mod the WOE stock campaign Red Thunder 1962 and want to include the westgerman and the east german airforces.
First we need the files
woeCamp1.ini
and
WOECAMP1_DATA.ini
both files you find in the folder Campaigns/woeCamp1
if not, then you must extract them with an extraction tool like SFP1E extractor
Make following steps:
1.) open files woeCamp1.ini with windows notepad editor
2.) look for the lines
[CampaignData]
CampaignName=1962
DataFile=1962_data.ini
CampaignMap=GermanyCE
Service001=USAF
Service002=RAF
Service003=France
3.) add now
Service004=EGermany
Service005=WGermany
4.) save the file.
Now we have included the Luftwaffe and the LSK/LV as new airforces which can deploy units in the campaign.
Our next step is to bring 2 east german and 3 west german units in the campaign. The east germans we place at Holzdorf AB and Peenemünde while the west germans we place at Wittmundhafen, Neuburg and Büchel.
5.) open file WOECAMP1_DATA.ini with notepad editor
scroll to the last airunit entry which is
[AirUnit078]
UnitName=305 BFAP
ForceID=2
Nation=SOVIET
8.) save the file.
BE CAREFULL: you must place the units at existing airfields. Which AB are existant you find in the GermanyCE_targets.ini.
Make sure that the names of the baseses are the same in Targets.ini and campaign_data.ini.
For instance if you write
BaseArea=Wittmundhaven Airbase
instead
BaseArea=Wittmundhafen Airbase
the unit will not exist in game.
After this we must include the new created air units into the woeCamp1.ini file, if we want to fly the birds of this units. If not, then we have nothing to do anymore. But i want to fly the MiG's for the LSK and the Starfighters for the Luftwaffe, so we continue:
9.) open file woeCamp1.ini
10.) scroll to the end and include following lines:
//LSK units
[EGermanyUnit001]
UnitName=JG-8
ForceID=2
UnitID=34
StartDate=1962
DescFile=woe1Start.txt
StartText=woe1Start1.txt
AircraftType=MiG-17F
[EGermanyUnit002]
UnitName=JG-2
ForceID=2
UnitID=35
StartDate=1962
DescFile=woe1Start.txt
StartText=woe1Start1.txt
AircraftType=MiG-21F
//Bundesluftwaffe units
[WGermanyUnit001]
UnitName=JG 71
ForceID=1
UnitID=46
StartDate=1962
DescFile=woe1Start.txt
StartText=woe1Start1.txt
AircraftType=F-104G
[WGermanyUnit002]
UnitName=JG 74
ForceID=1
UnitID=47
StartDate=1962
DescFile=woe1Start.txt
StartText=woe1Start1.txt
AircraftType=F-104G
[WGermanyUnit003]
UnitName=JBG 33
ForceID=1
UnitID=48
StartDate=1962
DescFile=woe1Start.txt
StartText=woe1Start1.txt
AircraftType=F-104G
The most problematic part is the UnitID= number
you must count which number the single unit has. For the blue side and for the red side.
For instance, the JG-71 is the 46th blue unit. To get this number is relativly simple. You must look in the WOECAMP_DATA.ini and look for the last "blue" air unit. If you look right it is the 42nd TRS which has in the campaign the air unit number 045 [AirUnit045].
Thatywhy the next blue air unit has the UnitID=46, then comes 47 and so on.
With the red air units it is a little bit mor difficult, because the first red air unit has in the data.ini the number [AirUnit046]. But in the woecamp.ini it is not designated as UnitID=46, because it is the first "red" air unit and thatswhy would get the designation UnitID=1 (only if the unit would be flyable)
To get the correct UnitID= number of the 2 east german units we must count all red air units. If you do it you will see that we have in the stock campaign 33 soviet (red) air units. Thatswhy the first east german unit get the number UnitID=34 and the other UnitID=35
11.) Save the file.
12.) Finally comes the testing of the campaign.
Thats it.
[Fictional] Mirage 2000BE (CB.27) "Espada" (Sword)
By ValAstur
A Mod of the Mirage 2000B from Amokfloo and JAT81500 to make it look like a fictional fighter for the spanish air force.
BACKGROUND
According to EESP (European Economic Stability Protocol) signed in the middle of 2012 in Brussels by the 27 partners of the EU, the countries with a high rate of debt (Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal etc.) had to execute all measures necessary in order to reduce their debts. In article 12 "About the defense of the homeland", the countries of the EU constituted that all redundant units had to be dissolved and the equipment to be sold.
Furthermore, the armies of the affected countries had to change their "non-european" equipment for european equipment. Spain had therefore to sell their US fighterplanes and replace them by european ones. In exchange, the equipment will be cheaper than for standard customers from outside the EU.
The F-18Cs got sold back to the US. The mayor manufacturers of fighters in Europe were Dassault, Saab and the Eurofighter Corporation. The spanish air force decided to order the Mirage 2000 for the Ala 46, stationed on the Canary Islands. Two wings were equipped with the Mirage 2000-5F, renamed E (local designation: C-27) and one wing received the Mirage 2000B, renamed BE (local designation: CB-27)
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Drop the folders into your MODS Folder. If asked to overwrite, click yes.
This is a mod of the JAS-39C from the Gripen Team to make it look like a fighterplane from the greek hellenic air force.
BACKGROUND:
The F-16s got sold to Israel and Turkey. The mayor manufacturers of fighters in Europe were Dassault, Saab and the Eurofighter Corporation. The hellenic air force decided to order the Typhoon for two of their Squadrons and the Gripen for another three squadrons. For the remaining squadrons, the ministry of defense had not declared a decision if either buy more Mirage 2000 or get some Rafales.
The first Gripens arrived at the end of 2012 and did directly enter service in the 330th, 341st and 347th Moira. All planes display the new SGD-Camo (Spartan Ghost Digital)
[Fictional] SAAB/IAI JAS39I Kherev (Sword)
By ValAstur
This is a mod of the JAS-39C from the Gripen Team to make it look like fighterplane for the israeli air force.
BACKGROUND:
Israel, although not being part of the european community (not even being on the european continent) was almost always treated like being an european country. After the EESP-signment, Israel offered Italy and Greece to replace their Vipers with Barak- and Sufa-Versions from IAI. In exchange and tying in with the cooperation concerning the Chez (israeli Draken), the IDF wanted the Gripen as a replacement for their aged Ahit.
The EU was ok with that treaty and allowed Italy to exchange their planes. Greece refused and decided in favor of the Gripen and the EF-2000 Typhoon. At the end of 2012, Israeli received their ordered planes and named them 'Kherev' (Sword). From the 72 ordered planes, 16 were two-seaters.
The Kherev was the first plane in the IDF to receive a digital camo.
F-7ME IRAN (Fiction)
*****************
----------------------------------------------------------
I.
In the 1980th the F-7M was a modernized export version of the chinese J-7II.
With the help of US american and british companies the Chinese put new avionics into the old airframe. Mainly the british Skyranger rangefinder radar and a HUD, but also an improved engine and 4 instead 2 wing hardpoints increased the combat capabilities of this bird. The F-7M was exported to Iraq, Egypt, Iran and other 3. world contries.
The F-7ME is fiction. It is a iranian F-7M updated to J-7E level.
[Fictional] Boeing/Mitsubishi F/A-18M & F/A-18M2 Super Hornet for the JMSDF
By ValAstur
This is a mod of the Super Hornets E & F from EricJ to make them look like fighter planes from the japanese maritime self defense force.
BACKGROUND:
The JMSDFs new carrier, the Shinano, which does service in the surroundings of the japanese homeland, was equipped with F-14EJs. In 1999, the 81st Hikotai stationed on the carrier was reinforced with two additional hikotais, the 23rd and the 31st. The JMSDF obtained the Hornet at the same time as the JASDF. Under the designation F/A-18M and F/A-18M2, the F/A-18M2 replaced the F-14EJs of the 23rd and 31st Hikotai while the F/A-18M got designated to two new hikotais, the 3rd and 14th. At the same time, the JMSDF started introducing a new system of serial numbers adjusted to the new ship type.
Instead of the standard four-digit serial number system, the planes and helos of the carrier received a new system consisting of the jap. abbreviation for aircraft carrier (kubo), the hikotai number and finally the plane number.
Also, as a part of the new system, the fuselage wears the designation and the name of the vessel the plane is stationed on; just like in the US Navy.
The Shinano was declared DCV (defender carrier vessel) because the aircraft carrier was an offensive weapon according to the japanese constitution. Using the word "defender" allowed the possession of an aircraft carrier.
INSTALLATION:
Simply drop the Folders into your Strike Fighters Mods Folder.
