F-101 Voodoo Escort Fighter, as it was meant to be. Before the F-101 Voodoo suffered from 'mission creep and bloat' turning it into a (failed) nuclear strike fighter it was meant to purely be an escort fighter to protect Strategic Air Command's bombers. Before the name change to F-101 it was designated the F-88K Voodoo. Those original F-88K specifications made no mention of any air-to-ground role ("not a pound for air-to-ground!") and included an armament of three AIM-4 Falcon air-to-air missiles employed by the MA-7 fire control system with APG-37 air-to air-radar, full 7.3 G capability and K-19 gunsight (as on the F-105). Features: F-101A Voodoo Escort Fighter: - Full 7.33 G. - Reduced the effect/ impact of the stall/ spin when you pull up suddenly in the FM. - MA-7 FCS with AN/APG-37 Radar, 30nm range. - LABS/ bombing control system removed from cockpit and replaced with MA-7/ Missile control system. - K-19 Gunsight system (as on F-105). - 3x Semi-recessed AIM-4 Falcon Missile stations. - “Not a pound for air-to-ground!” - 1957 Service entry. F-101C Voodoo Escort Fighter: - As above plus: - Upgraded Pratt & Whitney J57-P-413 engines delivering 11,628 lb dry and 17,100 lb afterburning. - Upgraded AN/APG-125 Radar, 60nm range - (X)AIM-4H Falcon missiles with proximity fuse and enhanced manoeuvrability (1971). - 1966 Service entry. The stock TW AIM-4D Falcon has had its performance data dumbed down in order (I presume) to represent its poor performance when used by the F-4D Phantom in the game. However the reason the Falcon missile performed so badly when used by the F-4D was more to do with it being used outside its engagement parameters and the complex/ lengthy manual firing process the F-4D could only used. When used as designed by the fire control computer (FCS) of the F-102A/ F-106A and fired within its parameters (the FCS assisted the pilot with this) the Falcon was as effective as any other missile system of the era. In fact the IR seeker of the AIM-4D/ AIM-4G was the best on any IR missile until the AIM-9L was developed. As such I have corrected the data for all the Falcon missiles. we shall spend hours scratch making graphics for obscure airlines from the 1980s, with complex curves across several different scaled tga. yes, this is how we will have fun but it is cool to seem em out on the apron like this

McDonnell YF-4K (Phantom F.1) 1963 The successful first flight of the McDonnell XF4H-1 (Phantom II) on May 27th, 1958 certainly piqued the interest of both the RAF and the Royal Navy and by 1959 both were granted official 'observer status' on the project. The realisation that only two of the Royal Navy's five aircraft carriers could operate an aircraft of the XF4H-1's size (and that only after extensive modernisation) soon cooled the interest of the Senior Service but the RAF could see a promising aircraft of obvious potential across many roles and not just in their search for a Hunter replacement. By 1960 McDonnell were scheming various tactical fighter versions of the F4H-1 Phantom II with J79 engines including a minimum change version of the baseline USN F-4B to replace the Hunter and Javelin in RAF service and supplement the Lightning. The RAF had already bore the brunt of the 1957 Defence White Paper and had then suffered the ignominy of losing the UK's nuclear deterent in the planned switch from V-Force to Polaris. Following this heavy perceived loss of status the Air Staff were so determined to get the TSR.2 that in March 1961 they volunteered to forsake the supersonic V/STOL P.1154 strike fighter and STOL AW.681 tactical transport and replace both with off the shelf purchases of American aircraft. Both projects were declared as "too technically challenging to succeed in the current fiscal situation" but the early cashing-in of both projects did ultimately save the TSR.2 which went onto survive the 1964 Budget Review and enter RAF service at the end of the 1960's. Meanwhile, back in August 1961 the UK Government became the first export customer for McDonnell's XF4H-1 with an order for 350 aircraft consisting of 150 interceptor-fighters for RAF Fighter Command and 200 tactical fighters for RAF Germany and No.38 Group. Designated by McDonnell as the F-4K and by the RAF as Phantom F.1 and Phantom FGA.2 the first F-4K rolled off the St. Louis production line in February 1963 with a ceremonial first flight on April 1st, 1963 to coincide with the RAF's 45th birthday celebrations. These early RAF Phantoms retained the AAA-4 infrared search and tracking sensor fitted to a prominent bulge underneath the radome housing the powerful AN/APQ-72 radar and were powered by two General Electric J79-GE-8A engines each rated at 10,000lbs dry thrust and 17,000 lbs thrust with afterburner. The Phantom F.1 entered service with No.19 squadron at RAF Leconfield in March 1964 and eventually equipped no less than ten RAF squadrons at home and abroad with the last squadron (an expanded No. 1435 Flight) disbanding at RAF Mount Pleasant, Falkland Isles in 1992.

there are whole hog packs at DAT site, but you must have all prerequisites filled to download from them, and even then only download once or twice a day, 1/4 that on days that have d or y in them (yeah they dont have the greatest rep, check my signature). for here, pretty much go the franken mod route although there are less restrictions on acquisition/usage. Not everything is available at either site, so there will be some holes in what you seek unfortuneatly

Improved (X)AIM-4H Falcon missile with proximity fuse and enhanced maneuverability. A hand full of these were test fired in 1971ish and solved all the shortcomings of the AIM-4D but the USAF ultimately went with the AIM-9 as its IR missile system. Semi-recessed missile slots. Replacement had SAC continued with escort fighters?.....
