2 pointsVultee P-66D Vanguard - Royal Dhimari Air Force, 1944 The British dependence on oil from the middle-east, and especially from the Kingdom of Dhimar, during World War 2 made the sporadic Parani attacks on the Mazadran Oil Fields a deep concern to Britain during the summer of 1941. In late September 1941, to support the Dhimari armed forces defending Mazadran and the Al'Samara region, the British Government donated 30 of the 100 Vultee P-66 Vanguard fighter aircraft it had itself inherited from an embargoed Sweden order. Delivered during November 1941 the Dhimari Vanguards were more than a match for the Italian Fiat CR. 42 Falco aircraft that formed the backbone of the Parani Air force but were later outclassed when Germany began to supply Bf 109E-7's to Paran during the Spring of 1942. Please note that the DCS World Steam Edition Free for All Sale continues until the 27th of May. This week we launched an update to DCS World Open Beta. The update has been optimised to take advantage of the latest graphic drivers and processor performance as we work towards an efficient CPU load management system. With over 200 bug fixes and upgrades, this is one of our biggest updates. Most importantly, we are delighted to announce the release of DCS: Supercarrier into Early Access. Please take another look at Supercarrier: Quick Start and Supercarrier: Mission Generation and make sure you hit the ground running. Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, The Eagle Dynamics Team Open Beta DCS World 2.5.6 The new Open Beta encompasses a large number of updates to the environment. A number of Campaigns have also been revised to ensure that they are compatible and accessible. The F/A-18C Hornet and F-16C Viper have both received major updates. We have done what we can to include many of the community's requests, especially in regards to the Hornet’s litening pod. Our third-party partners have also been hard at work with updates to the M-2000 Mirage and the AV-8B Night Attack by RAZBAM. Notably, Heatblur Simulations have released substantial updates to the F-14B Tomcat and the ASJ37 Viggen. Read the Full Change log Magnitude 3 have also released a large update, read about it on their website:leathernecksimulations.com Supercarrier Development Report DCS: Supercarrier is the most detailed and realistic simulation of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier ever created. In total, the US Navy manufactured 10 Nimitz class ships. Our product will include all 5 vessels of the Theodore Roosevelt sub-class: CVN-71 Theodore Roosevelt, CVN-72 Abraham Lincoln, CVN-73 George Washington, CVN-74 John C Stennis, CVN-75 Harry S. Truman. 1 pointRepublic F-7A Thunderstorm - Thunderstorm Test & Evaluation Flight, Tactical Air Command, United States Air Force, 1965 During late 1958 the Langley Laboratory made the breakthrough that led to the realisation of a valid variable-sweep wing and by early 1959 Tactical Air Command (TAC) could see that this massive technological breakthrough could be the key to help them in their search for a tactical strike fighter to replace both the F-100 Super Sabre andthe F-105 Thunderchief. Pretty soon however the numerical values for unrefuelled range and payload that TAC had attached to their mission requirements had the effect of turning all the paper studies from F-105 sized machines to much larger tactical bombers with a corresponding increase in cost and price and this reduced affordability was of great concern to TAC. In the Autumn of 1959 TAC wisely decided to split their requirement into a smaller tactical fighter to replace the F-100 and a larger tactical bomber to replace the F-105, B-57 and B-66. The larger aircraft would evolve into Specific Operational RequirementNo.183 that would launch the important TFX (tactical fighter experimental) programme and eventually lead (via a tortuous route) to the outstanding but highly compromised F-111 family whilst the smaller aircraft would lead to Specific Operational Requirement No.182 or TAX (tactical aircraft experimental). Issued in March 1960 SOR182 called for a single-seat tactical fighter aircraft with “reduced dependence of paved runways” and with “the ability to carry a nuclear bomb at supersonic speed at tree-top height”. Requests for Proposals were immediately sent out to industry and Republic Aviation’s proposal soon gained the support of TAC by virtue of its use of a variable-sweep wing but also by the use of the existing J75 turbojet and F-105 avionics. With the end of F-105 production on the horizon Republic Aviation pushed hard for SOR182/TAX and in February 1961 they were rewarded with a contract for 24 prototype and pre-production YF-110 aircraft and 400 production F-110A machines and Republic wasted no time in bestowing the name of ‘Thunderstorm’ to the latest of their long line of fighter aircraft. Republic Aviation were fortunate in being awarded the contract before Secretary of Defence Robert S. McNamara had got into his stride and the programme largely escaped McNamara and his whiz-kids. Development moved swiftly and during 1962 the programme was re-designated F-7 under the new tri-service designation scheme and the first prototype took to the air on December 22nd 1962 a full year ahead of the F-111A. Entering service in June 1965 the F-7A was followed by the F-7B two-seat trainer version and the more advanced F-7C version that first deployed to Vietnam in March 1968 when a two-squadron wing transferred to Takhli Royal Thia AFB, Thailand in a deployment called ‘Combat Lancer’.

1 pointView File F-101B VooDoo. SF.2 2019 Redux. Reworked pack of F-101B/F VooDoo. Generally old good VooDoo in new dresses. There are some small changes in data.ini files mostly in weapon stations section - so Backup your original file. You might not like it. Pack contains three versions - In reality, IR sensor was applied to different airframes different block build - not really possible to cover in this game engine limits. To make it easier in this game it will be. This is mostly to cover in some right way decals I've made and units. VooDoo '59 without IR sensor - block build 65-96. VooDoo '65 with IR sensor - block build - 100-120. VooDoo '69 ANG - same as 65 - just different set of skins. (I have an additional nation in my install: USA Air National Guard - that's why I have it as a separate model - but in this pack, it is set as USAF bird). All new skins in 3072x3072 resolution. New bump maps and specular maps. also in 3072.. plus more than 1000 decals so the set is again huge after unpacking. Pack contains 17 skins for Air Defense Command - all squadrons that ever used F-101B (from different time periods to cover years of usage). and 7 skin sets for Air National Guard from different time periods. All new decals consisting 451 serial numbers for blocks 65-120. Plus some buzz numbers decals - not all - as Buzzes disappeared in mid 60's. Serial numbers cover B and F models. Backup your original F-101 Folders. Also Decals! Some time ago (long ago) I started to use specific AIR-2 Genie for Voodoo - to accommodate it in weapons bay it is moded as specific stationcode=AIM4 - so to appear this Genie in a game you have to copy weapon AIR-2_Genie_101 also. Genie has new skin. Credits: Original models ErikGen yakarov - skins / decals / some small ini tweak Plane Number (airbrake decal) for 132FIS ANG from original VooDoo pack by Dave. Have Fun. May the VooDoo be with you. Jarek Hereda Submitter yakarov79 Submitted 01/06/2019 Category F-101

1 pointView File F-101 Voodoo Escort Fighter, as it was meant to be. F-101 Voodoo Escort Fighter, as it was meant to be. Before the F-101 Voodoo suffered from 'mission creep and bloat' turning it into a (failed) nuclear strike fighter it was meant to purely be an escort fighter to protect Strategic Air Command's bombers. Before the name change to F-101 it was designated the F-88K Voodoo. Those original F-88K specifications made no mention of any air-to-ground role ("not a pound for air-to-ground!") and included an armament of three AIM-4 Falcon air-to-air missiles employed by the MA-7 fire control system with APG-37 air-to air-radar, full 7.3 G capability and K-19 gunsight (as on the F-105). Features: F-101A Voodoo Escort Fighter: - Full 7.33 G. - Reduced the effect/ impact of the stall/ spin when you pull up suddenly in the FM. - MA-7 FCS with AN/APG-37 Radar, 30nm range. - LABS/ bombing control system removed from cockpit and replaced with MA-7/ Missile control system. - K-19 Gunsight system (as on F-105). - 3x Semi-recessed AIM-4 Falcon Missile stations. - “Not a pound for air-to-ground!” - 1957 Service entry. F-101C Voodoo Escort Fighter: - As above plus: - Upgraded Pratt & Whitney J57-P-413 engines delivering 11,628 lb dry and 17,100 lb afterburning. - Upgraded AN/APG-125 Radar, 60nm range - (X)AIM-4H Falcon missiles with proximity fuse and enhanced manoeuvrability (1971). - 1966 Service entry. The stock TW AIM-4D Falcon has had its performance data dumbed down in order (I presume) to represent its poor performance when used by the F-4D Phantom in the game. However the reason the Falcon missile performed so badly when used by the F-4D was more to do with it being used outside its engagement parameters and the complex/ lengthy manual firing process the F-4D could only used. When used as designed by the fire control computer (FCS) of the F-102A/ F-106A and fired within its parameters (the FCS assisted the pilot with this) the Falcon was as effective as any other missile system of the era. In fact the IR seeker of the AIM-4D/ AIM-4G was the best on any IR missile until the AIM-9L was developed. As such I have corrected the data for all the Falcon missiles.
