5 pointsAs intimated by Trotski from Elbonia, a reasonably accurate representation of photo recon and arty spotting is a must. I know most players want to be romantic and glamorous (which it wasn't) fighter pilots but the fact is the MOST important function aerial services on both sides performed was photo recon/arty spotting. The PBI feared these guys more than anything else for it could result in thousands being shelled out of existence. The single seat fighters were more of a sideshow for amusement as viewed from the trenches. The real unsung heroes were the two-seaters plodding along day after day in horrendous and extremely dangerous conditions. My dream is that successful photo recon or artillery directing actually has a direct bearing on the ground war with all its consequences. This is a difficult proposition of course and probably not the direction OBD want to take, if possible at all? But one can dream ... In the meantime I fly the Be2c under the hypnotic and slightly made gaze of Capt. Triggers preparing to do my duty. When duty calls. I accidently got into the backwash of a sparrow and found myself out of control and on the verge of a spin. And I thought that was impossible in the quirk! I have much to learn.

1 pointDear Friends! Work on our next update, which is version 4.6 continues as planned and should be released before the end of this month. This update will be a pretty big one with new content, some new features and lots of small tweaks as usual. We also continue to make new airplanes and other models that will be incorporated into the sim this year and beyond. Work never slows down for us as you know. Today I’d like to share some screens of ongoing work that you’ll enjoy as we finalize the next update. Here are some images that help demonstrate our DVD system for our tanks and AAA vehicles along with our Tactical Codes technology. DVD definitely adds another interesting layer to our damage modeling. Work on the Normandy map is going strong and here you can see some towns that are taking shape. The terrain textures are not final and borrowed from the Rhineland map at the moment. And here’s the terrible vengeance weapon that terrorized Great Britain for many months during the war - the Fieseler Fi 103 or simply the V-1 “Buzz Bomb”. The British sarcastically nicknamed it the “Doodlebug”, but there was nothing cute about them in reality. It was the world’s first jet powered cruise missile, and it was a deadly, dangerous weapon that fell from the sky at seemingly random locations with little or no warning. About 8,000 V-1s were launched against Britain with about 2,400 of them getting through the defenses. Over 6,000 people were killed and many thousands more wounded by them. Over 44,000 Allied sorties were flown to try and intercept them along with the flak batteries that tried desperately to knock them down. Truly a flying terror. You’ll be able to simulate intercepting them before they are able to strike their targets along the southern coast of England when the BON map is ready. They were also used against targets in France and Belgium in smaller numbers as the Allies advanced. We also have added more railyards to BOBP cities and here is the current list that has increased to a total of 19. We apologize for not having pictures of them, but COVID has decided to interfere with this operation. Just a reminder that we are not totally out of the woods yet with the pandemic. Antwerp Liege Mainz Frankfurt Bonn Cologne Disburg Brussels Charleroi Dusseldorf Munster Koblenz Eindhoven Tillburg Nijmegen Essen Enschede Hengelo Osnabruck And before we end this DD, here are three new posters Jason has created featuring all three Spitfire variants found in Great Battles including the new Spitfire Mk. XIV. We hope you enjoy this artwork. Spitfire Mk.VB Poster Spitfire Mk. IXe Poster Spitfire Mk.XIV Poster And of course, here are a few pics of the upcoming Spitfire Mk.XIV and Nieuport 28. Enjoy your weekend everyone and stay safe! The Sturmovik Team

1 pointWell, for me it allows me to edit the mission or claim narrative. For example, instead of the generic mission description of Patrol Behind Friendly Lines, I changed to read something more descriptive. And I edited the narrative to describe in a bit more detail.

1 pointThought I'd just share this link (from Kings College) https://defenceindepth.co/2015/04/29/towards-systematic-bombing-the-royal-flying-corps-and-experience-on-the-western-front-1915/

1 pointNo bomb-sight mod back in OFF so I used the TLAR (That Looks About Right) targeting method for dumb bombs. Fly enough sorties at a specific altitude band and you get used to the visuals, then compensate for variables such as winds, airspeed, bank angle etc., one last check to make sure doors are open, steady on...press button..."Bombs gone". Jink a bit to wiggle the tail at the AckAck. If no defenders then you can watch the fall and oftentimes follow the impacts. I can say without hesitation there were many times I put the bombs into a field a mile or more off target, but that odd time you managed to at least bracket a target or land most of the ordinance on target well that felt pretty good. Kind regards, Dave

1 pointView File AGM-158C LRASM AGM-158C LRASM by @JosefK This is a data + skin mod of the AGM-158 for the C model, the Long Range Anti-Ship Missile or LRASM. All based on @FastCargo's AGM-158 JASSM for the anti-ship missile variant. It's worth noting has a service start year of 2018 and is assumed to stop serving in 2050. Also the LRASM has a range of over 600 km/300 nm. In Real-Life/RL, the LRASM has only been integrated with the B-1B and the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet but the intention is to make her work with the F-35 and vertically launch from ships. US Navy (USN) and Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) only customers so far, but Sweden, Australia, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Canada and Japan are likely customers also. To read more, go here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AGM-158C_LRASM Feel free to report any bugs. This is my first serious weapons mod effort. 1 pointThat's all I'm doing for now. Letting my observer score the occasional airplane victory while I put bombs on target and once in a blue moon flame a balloon.

1 pointView File SF2 UH-19/HO4S/HRS Chickasaw Upgrade Pack SF2 UH-19/HO4S/HRS Chickasaw Upgrade Pack 4/12/2021 -For SF2 =ONLY= (Full 4/5 Merged Reccomended) **NOTE: this is for the American/non-British versions -0NLY-!! Upgrades for the Whirlwind will follow** This is major upgrade of the UH-19/HO4S/HRS as released by Strahi. Please be advised, if you have the original download, you will unfortunately have to delete it from your mods folder(s). THIS version is highly modified, with many additional items. If left as "drag & drop" over the original, there will be conflicts that might be unresolvable. Thus, the need for complete removal of the original. This has been approved by Strahi, to whom I extend great thanks!! For those interested, the following services/units are covered: US Air Force: 41st Air Rescue Squadron, Hamilton AFB (early/mid 1950s) US Navy: HU-1 "Pacific Fleet Angles" (c.1952, Korea) US Marines: HMR-161 "Greyhawks" (c.1952, Korea) US Army: 6th Transportation Co. (H), (Korea) Generic Olive Drab overall Royal Canadian Navy: VH-21 (c.mid 1950s) Many painted on insignia and service markings remain as such. This is due to the minimal amount of meshes used to build the aircraft. All new serial number decals have been made for all included versions (up to 26 each). As is to be expected, while all are correct for the aircraft & services depicted, they are 'generic' in nature. When a unit's or service's serials HAVE been found, you'll see the star (*) in the number list dropdown. Decal randomization is TRUE. You will also be adding a new nation, "US ARMY", unless you have the Expanded Nations Mod by Menrva. Full instructions will be found in the INstall section below. If you do not wish to, you'll have to edit the texture set inis for the 2 Army skins back to "USAF". Game-wise, it won't matter either way. On the aircraft selection drop down list, you'll see: H-19 Chickasaw (st) The (st) is for Strahi, and will diferentiate this H-19 for any others that may or may not exist. In reality, it should read "H-19/HRS/HO4S", but what the hey! We all know what it is! As is always reccomended, unzip to a temp folder or your desktop to give easy access to the rest of this readme for it's install instructions. PLEASE read them, before installing!!! You can expect the same treatment is being given to his Whirlwind pack, as well. It will be relased when finished. Good Hunting & Happy Landings!
