I hate the current EU too, but I am not that sure that leaving would be the solution, and it could mean severe consequences both for the UK and the rest of Europe. That's interesting. I do experience numerous CTD in my huge mod folder. It seems you finally managed to track down some of the culprits. My first guess is that there must be something wrong or missing in the _DATA.ini of said ground objects.

I say option 1. I guess loadouts could be a problem, but I noticed that some stock SF2 aircraft do use different loadouts according to the nation and/or the year, thanks to some parameters that must be added in the _loadout.ini. So maybe there is no need to create nationalized aircraft folders.

Resuming my terrain modding, I decided to to have a look at the various terrains in my mod folder and decided to tweak things here and there. I wanted to see if I could use hi-res First Eagles tilesets in SF terrains. Tiles are no problem obviously, but TODs are, since they do not scale properly, they are like 1:8 or more of what they should be. I think this might have to do with the fact that First Eagles' TFD resolution is 500, while in SF it is 2000. I discovered this old thread (http://combatace.com/topic/21873-resizing-terrains-thread/), it explains how stock SF terrains can be resized to RL scale thanks to Hex editing and doubling of values in the .inis. But TOD files are always a problem, they do not scale. I am wondering if the same idea (Hex editing) could be applied to TODs as well.

Just convert them yourself with a software like XnView, it's damn fast, it finds all image files inside a folder, so you must remove all .tga files before converting, and you can set the .jpg quality too, default value is not great, I always set it a 100% so the .jpg will look like a .bmp

Good thinking, Do335. Yakarov, check if you have a FORMATION.ini file inside the Flight folder, remove it and try again. Or just select a Formation Type in the mission editor. Indeed, very strange bug.

Hmm, IMHO I don't think that the statement's position is the problem. Have you checked if the _target.ini is saved in Unicode or ANSI? IIRC the TFDtool can't read Unicode. Most likely Mue's Target Editor saves it in Unicode, so just open the _target.ini with Notepad ---> save as ---> choose ANSI instead of Unicode.

Thanks, dare2, but quoting me as if I were an idiot (and I am an experienced PC user, amateur programmer and modder, and student of IT engineering) and telling us what to do, by bumping a thread almost forgotten by everyone, doesn't seem to be the most polite way to show off. First, we users at CombatACE have already posted countless threads about most of the possible fixes and things that should be disabled in Win10. Second, when I referred to Microsoft Edge in that post of mine you quoted, I was simply saying that due to a cleaning software that at the time was not compatible with Win10, Edge and the whole Win10 GUI (graphical user interface) got corrupted. I was not inviting users to use Edge (which clearly is not the best browser), in fact I use Chrome. If I were you, I'd avoid writing unuseful complaints about Win10. I upgraded from Win7 to Win10 due to a series of reasons (unless it is for job, Win7 users should stick with it, Win7 is still the best), but IMHO Win8/Win8.1 users have a quadrillion of reasons to move to Win10. Much needs to be done in regards to privacy settings, disabling of services and all, but we already wrote much about it in other threads. And as far I know, you're one of the few to find Win10 slower, my 5-year old PC loads Win10 faster than Win7 (and Win10 takes less space in the HD, maybe even taking into account the included apps). That being said, peace.

IIRC Spudknocker made a thread about a similar issue with Win10 regarding unexpected crashes with terrains, it had to do with the files, now everything seems case sensitive. I'm wondering though, has anyone tried running SF2 with compatibility modes? And with administrator rights? I am on Win10, but I can't check atm.
