Hello FE/FE2 flyers, Inspired by Stephen1918's fine-looking cabin for the AEG G.IV, I've now tweaked its FM to include proper, subtle over-compression of the Mercedes IVa engine that would have been installed on it. Historical stats. for the IVa engine are as follows: - typical output of about 252-260 hp at 1400 rpm - if full-throttle with over-compression, about 268 hp, to be used above an alt of about 1200 m Stats. for the tweaked data ini are now as follows: - 168 kph near sea-level at full-throttle with over-compression - 146-7 kph cruise speed near sea-level at about 80% throttle - 80% throttle gives a steady climb rate of about 2 m/s in the 120s kph, and can be held that way to about 1000 meters - open throttle to full beyond about 1000 m alt., to give: 1000 m: 162 kph @ 100% throttle (close to historical top speed for the type) 3000 m: 146 kph @ 100% throttle 4000 m: 140 kph @ 100% throttle 4500 m: 128 kph @ 100% throttle (noticeable drop off in top speed since this is its historical ceiling) 4580 m: 103 kph @ 100% throttle (anything higher in alt and it begins to drop into the 90s kph, stalling and shuddering) (a stable climb rate of about 2 m/s @ 100% throttle can be maintained in the 120s kph above 1000 m alt and to about 3000 m) - type holds its power well to about 4000 m alt. as indicated above; rudder and elevator are adequate; ailerons are numb, as typical of this big crate - also tweaked some of its inertia settings and stall/climb numbers for the airfoils (for more realistic stall speeds...performs best above 100 kph; also can attain dive speeds of close to 400 kph in the type but I wouldn't recommend it...see pics. below...had an engine fire and broke up when trying to exit a fast dive with engines full on) Happy flying, Von S [Files included in ver. 9.0 and later of my FM updates pack.]

Now a short revisit to one of the seminal Mods for the Strike Fighters series. Strike Fighters 2: ODS Redux is a very impressive modification of the basic game series and included new aircraft / ground objects over the original. As the title suggests the mod will have you flying over the Middle East battleground where Operation Desert Storm was actually set, so mostly Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait of course: New aircraft for Redux included the amazing Buccaneer by Ravenclaw: Install As ever the mod works best at the game version it was tested and built for, and if you install onto a later version or one merged with North Atlantic there will be a bit more work to do. However if you can copy & paste files and edit word documents you shouldn’t have any problems. The instructions are pretty good – however you must insure you follow the first and second rules of modding: 1. Make sure you stick the files in the correct place! 2. Make sure you stick the files in the correct place! If you get stuck there is a few years worth of information and a knowledge base on here to help. Gameplay The variety of aircraft you can choose along with the different squadrons is vast as you can imagine, and should be historically accurate. For this I am going to be in VFA-81, - that’s right I can literally walk into any Navy squadron I am that good! The campaign starts with a bit of background about the situation and the strategic error Saddam Hussain perhaps may have made: For day one I can rejoice in the fact that mod campaigns include targets other than the beeping Comms building! Default loadout looks good enough so no changes for me: And flying with my good buddy Ens Mike Erwin, who is not the highest in flying skill but is good with the ladies!: Into the sky we go, the Hornet is a third party mod but includes a very good pit complete enough for us to get by with navigation etc: Flying over Kuwait Mike seems to think keeping his lights on is more challenging! Plenty of Bandits are being called out, like this MiG-23: They are being kept busy by F-14s on the way in though luckily: We find and hit the scud rather easily, although Mike doesn’t think it is fun without flying low and getting shot at by every gun in theatre: Coming off target, a MiG is within 10 miles at 9 o’clock, so I turn and lock it up. Not being certain who or what it is I close to visual just to see a cheeky F-14 blast it out of the sky with guns (that's the guy locked in the circle). Typical, I am off to the tanker, or Alt + N as it is more commonly known here: Success is ours…in your face Saddam! And of course, hats off to the many that contributed to make SF2:ODS possible!

Working well for me also. I was using an old driver [347.88] due to cockpit jaggies and texture issues but this latest one [385.69] doesn't seem to have those issues and the anti-aliasing appears better as well. System: Win7-64bit, 4GB ram, GTX750.

Internet forums are a way of getting the word out there, and keeping it out there. Personally, I write to my Congressional Representatives and Senators all the time, and I express my opinions in the voting booth. I write the Orange One on twitter every day, expressing my opinions, although, I'm sure, he doesn't read them, or care, although other people read them, and that's the point. He chose twitter as a presidential forum, so I use it to talk at him (like I said, I'm sure he doesn't listen). When it comes to people's reactions, or opinions on prayer, I sincerely don't give a shit. At least the common people who do it are attempting to show empathy for the victims, I value them for that, even if it's not my way of doing so.

Stephen, why for you compel me to fly furniture vans... The cockpit is so good you have to fly it.

Posting sympathies in internet-forums doesn't do anything good unless a member is affected. Prayers don't achieve anything either. Better gun laws do. Sems like about 80% of the american populace want stricter gun-laws based on common sense, as opposed to giveaways to the gun-lobby. Silencers - seriously? Politicians "praying" and talking of "better times for that kind of discussion" (when exactly would that be ?) are insincere, morally wrong and weak. "If only we could do something". Yeah, if only you could.

Yusha Thomas is funny as hell! The comedy skits and all the shorts made by post-9/11 vets are on occasion just too real. But it's great. I swear I saw all my 1SGs do this at some point: I was the "I hate my life guy" I never drank more than two beers on work days.

If the skins are made with .bmp art, it should work in all editions of FE.
