    View File Kurilen.7z Kuril Islands 1.0 ***************************************************** This terrain is written for SF2. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I. Short description: This terrain covers the Kurils islands, a small group of islands which were conquered by the soviets in September 1945 from Japan. There is also a small part of the japanese island of Hokkaido. This terrain is made for carrier ops in primary. You may fly ground based planes too. There are two small japanese airfields and 3 soviet airfields. The soviets deployed an aray of SAM sites over the islands of Kunashir and Iturup. To run this terrain you need SF2NA and one of these: SF2I or SF2E. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ II. INSTALLATION: Unzip all files into your saved game folder ...ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2NorthAtlantic /terrain folder. Because IcelandNA terrain does not include all neccessary objects to run this terrain properly you need to link it to an other terrains CAT file. From stock the terrain is prepared to link with SF2 Israel If you dont have SF2I you must open the file kurilen.ini with Windows notepad editor. Look for the lines: CatFile=..\IsraelME\IsraelME.cat //CatFile=..\GermanyCE\GermanyCE.cat //CatFile=..\VIETNAMSEA\VietnamSEA.cat //CatFile=..\Desert\Desert.cat Add // in front of CatFile=..\IsraelME\IsraelME.cat to switch ot off. Then remove // at one of the other lines. Which you should remove depends on which SF2 game you still have installed side by side with SF2 North Atlantic. Save it. Thats it. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ III. Credits. The TOD's, what means the trees and autogenerated houses on the map, are mostly taken from various tilesets made by Stary. The SAM protection walls are taken from Pureblues AirfieldDevKit. They were originaly made by Sundowner. The basic files for the taxiways, parking areas and quais are made by ErikGen. I hope i have not forgotten someone. . ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ IV. This Terrain is Freeware.     In aircraft.ini you have list of LODS with distance of their visibility. [LOD0001] Filename=GR1B.lod Distance=35 .... [LOD0003] Filename=GR1B_lod2.lod Distance=2000 This is just max LOD that decal is visible.

    [Decal001] MeshName=Fuselage ---------------- actual node it goes on. limit 3 tga per (your viewer make this sooooo much easier for the likes of me to find this out) DecalLevel=2 ---------------------------- 4 different levels. O ties to nation, 1 ties to unit, 2 is serialized and unique to each aircraft, 4 is kills iirc. 2 is normally used for serial numbers but can be used for individual schemes/camoflage or nose arts DecalFacing=RIGHT ----------------- self explanitory. all basic directions included TOP, FRONT, LEFT etc FilenameFormat=B-52G_89/DiegoGarcia/D/FuseR naming convention. game starts looking where guruu pointed out and does not need included in this line. the D folder in this is not really needed, but a habit amongst the senior modders that i picked up Position=-2.75,0.0 Rotation=0.0 Scale=48.00 ----------------------------------------------- not usually this big. can be either side of the decimal point, mine are often huge due to a tga covering the whole fuselage side or wing. but one could make a bigger tga with high detail and scale below 1.0 to place on model DecalMaxLOD=3 --------------------- Wrench can explain better than me, but iirc has to do with distance visible biggest issue often encountered is typo's in the fileformat and position being off model. DecalMaxLOD can cause some issues too, again not THE expert on that. I usually default to =3 on most of my work. the ini can be huge. the displayed project is already at 130+ entries and I am going to add two more showing the EVS in better detail personally i prefer tga for many markings to on skin. it seems to show detail better in some instances than skins (esp when the original skin is smaller; 512 rather than 2048 or 4096) one other trick that can be done with 2 level decals is to have a base decal and then one or two specials. example thisDecal as a base then thisDecal000 as a CAG bird. the other however many will just use that default. HOWEVER, i found with the tankers i did that more than two individuals caused issues. i wound up having to create a tga for every single one and even then there were oddities past 10 aircraft loaded. hope this is useful information. just some observations from a guy that plays quite a bit with the tga file.

    one skin, many camo's? who does such madness? US insignia and squadron tail markings on the F-102 were one of the things that moved my opinion towards tga. but yes if you have a larger scaled skin insignia (and not a whole lot of varied camo tgas) it can work just fine on skin.

Not sure where the base pilot I modded came from, I think I got the pilot from a different mod. If anyone knows, please drop me a line so I can properly credit the creator of the LOD file. To use the pilots, please add them to your "Pilots" folder and update your "<plane>DATA.INI" file's "Crew" section to display them in your planes.     View File Cockpit for the DFW C.V This cockpit will replace Fokker D7 cockpit used until now to make the stock DFW C.V into a flyable plane. I can't find out who first converted the stock DFW into a flyable plane by using the cockpit from the Fokker D7. It seems to have been done several times over the years. I found a mod to convert the DFW C.V into a C.I uploaded by Christian59 in 2007 which used the Fokker cockpit, and it seems to have already been done before. The most recent version I could find was by JacksonM in 2017 and was included with his Hangar Screen pack. I have used parts of the cockpits I made for other German planes to make a completely new cockpit for the DFW C.V which fits the fuselage better and has the correct placement for the gun. The new cockpit features fully functional gauges, throttle, rudder control, and stick. This cockpit should work with the DFW in both FE1 and FE2. NOTE - There is a typo in the stock FM for DFW C.V which causes the Fuselage to disappear in the cockpit view. I have included instructions to correct the typo. If you are using one of the modded FMs, you may need to correct the typo there too, check to be sure. Instructions to fix the Data.ini are included in the download in a separate text file. Installation Instructions for both FE1 and FE2 If you have already have a flyable DFW C.V using the FokkerD7 cockpit, delete the "cockpit" folder if it exists, and delete the DFWC5_cockpit.ini file. Then open my "DFWC5" folder and place all the files - 1 folder and 1 ini file - into your DFWC5 folder. You will also need to change one word in the DFWC5_data.ini. See the file named "ChangeForDFWC5DataIni" If you still have the stock version, Open my "DFWC5" folder and place all the files - 1 folder and 1 ini file - into your DFWC5 folder. You will also have to add the following line to the plane's ini file. CockpitDataFile=DFWC5_cockpit.ini You will also need to change one word in the DFWC5_data.ini. See the file named "ChangeForDFWC5DataIni" NOTE - If the DFWC5_data.ini is not in the folder, you may need to extract it from the ObjectData.cat file using one of the utilities found here at CombatAce. (copy/paste, mod folder structure etc.) Older Skins available at CA are not compatible with this mod!!! Install: drop the Objects Folder into your mod folder - Fuel tanks- not to be afraid. Overwrite - Seats- not to be afraid. Overwrite Tanks are just ini files. Mod uses tanks that are part of aircraft lod. This is modified ErikGen model uploaded on CA by Wrench on April 12th 2014. Some time ago I decided to rework this pretty aircraft. So, first of all, thank you Enrico. Although. I changed mapping a bit, did some ini dance, only left the fletcher tank selectable, organiezed folders new and made new skins. 9 Skins are in: 1 AdA, 3 AMI, 2 KlU, 2 PAF & 1 USAf skins All skins are in 4096x4096 format. You can easily resize to needed resolution. better to downsize than rescale to higher res. Credits.
