I finally decided to push this mod forward, and it's pretty much complete, now. Only some little eye-candy elements need to be reworked. Here below a screenshot of the Mission Editor screen. The original SF1/WOX games never had such a screen so, in keeping the same style of the other menu screens, I have used bits from the original SF1 planning screen, made the green area larger, etc. Everything fits nicely I think. I expect this menu mod to be released in early 2019. It supports the Mission Editor DLC, but no support for the Campaign Customizer DLC, sorry.

Being a bit of a stick-in-the-mud - not an entirely inappropriate condition, for a player of WW1 air combat sims - all the recent modding activity for the Italian front hasn't yet lured me away from my Biggles-based but still dominant affection for the Western Front (all quiet or not). My Jasta 4 Cambrai campaign came to a nasty end when I collided with a comrade attacking the same enemy; first time that has happened in a while. So for a change of pace, I started off an Armchair Aces campaign with KEK Douai in August 1915, flying the Fokker E.I. I'm staying alive and racking up a surprising number of kills, including several on a single sortie. This is all the more surprising because the E.I is a truly awful fighting aeroplane. Rate of climb is nearly non-existent, while turn rate and radius are nearly as bad, with a tendency to judder on the point of a stall at the drop of a hat and to fall into a wild spin if you don't ease back or push the nose down when duly warned. Recovery is do-able but only after a lot of height is lost, so tight turns at low level are right out. Still, the varied and smaller-scale air fights are a lot of fun and modded FE2 brings all its inherent virtues to the party, including the ability to 'warp' and avoid transit flights, the rarity of uneventful, contact-free missions, the reliability of flak in indicating enemies, and the unequalled variety of aircraft types. Here are some scenes from recent missions. Illustrating the continued superiority of FE's pilot animations over all comers, I look down soon after take-off, despairing at why the earth is taking so very long to drop away below me. After finally managing to get above a few hundred meters and reach my patrol area, a more agile French-made and flown Morane 'Bullet' goes down, after I eventually managed to put enough rounds into him. Bringing on your flight-mates is a strong point of FE/FE2, so I am happy to keep watch above, as a comrade knocks down a Vickers two-seater. Not to be left out, on a later flight, I knock down a BE myself... ...and on another mission, I too clobber another hapless Vickers... Sadly, no pics were taken of Nieuport 10s doing what they do best, namely, bursting into flames after a few hits. I think I will edit the campaign files for that period as I am seeing too many of these (the British didn't use them apart from the RNAS near the coast, not where I'm flying, and a handful briefly loaned to the RFC 'for special duties'). And we must by now have shot down an entirely disproportionate number of the forty-nine Morane Bullets produced. The Morane Type L 'Parasol' would probably be a decent substitute for one or both, and I have seen none of these so far. Anyhow, for the sake of historical accuracy, I'm resisting any temptation to put more than two or three Fokkers into the air at once. Thankfully, the equally small enemy flights make this no particular risk, although we have lost one pilot due I think to a mid-air collision. Despite the pretty hopeless performance of our machines, we are usually well able to beat up one enemy flight before moving on to the next. So life with Kampfeinsitzerkommando Douai is pretty sweet...at the moment. And I'm reminded why I still reckon modded First Eagles/FE2 is at least as good, if not better, than any other WW1 air combat sim.

This is my first time with WWII planes, but I was little boried to fly over the A.O.I. (fantastic having this forgotten campaign to fly!) with US Amarillo serials. So here we are: Capitano Mario Visintini 16 vittorie, medaglia d'oro al valor militare alla memoria 412^ Squadriglia autonoma ... col suo gregario

I first posted this two years ago and I'm re-gifting this to all of you this year. A completely flyable Santa Claus for FE (both FE1 and FE2,) including a cockpit view. He's probably the most well known pilot of all time, but never shot down another plane. He may wear different uniforms and be known by many names but he is always remembered for his message of peace and goodwill. Installation Instructions Download and open the attached Zip file (below). Put the folder named "Santa" into your First Eagles "Aircraft" folder. Notes: Start in the air - Santa does not take off and land very well, (too many hooves) so it is best to begin your mission in the air. Easy mode only - I didn't spend a lot of time on the FM. The center of gravity is too close to the back, so he doesn't fly well in "Normal" or "Hard" modes. Extra aircraft - By default, First Eagles assigns two planes to a recon flight. You can remove one of them in the Loadout screen. Avoid AA - He's neutral and unarmed, but ground-based AA will still open fire when he gets close. Remember to set the mission date to a Winter month. Now, go spread some Holiday Cheer. SantaForFE.zip

Okay, we need some ordinance here. Santa should drop gift packages to the troops below. Happy Holidays, to one and all at CombatAce.

unfortunately not. you'd have to start with a fresh DEM, and import the sections that contain Iberia, the Atlantic and the Camay's. There's not real way to expand it.

SARCASM 2 BETA 2 release Try this, it's Sarcasm 2 BETA 2 release, has alot of new stuff and goodies and testwork in it, mostly revolving around new fog colour/shading, clouds fading distances and neat new horizon clouds using "pushed up" horizon band around the sky scene. Ohh you'll understand when you try it: Sarcasm 2 beta 2 release.7z I highly recommend you back up your current SARCASM 2 beta files listed below: CLOUD1.tga CLOUDS_BROKEN.tga CLOUDS_CLEAR.tga CLOUDS_OVERCAST.tga CLOUDS_SCATTERED.tga ENVIRONMENTSYSTEM.INI Lensflare_blob.tga LENSFLARE_DIAMOND.TGA Lensflare_drops.tga Lensflare_drops2.tga Lensflare_scratches.tga LENSFLARE_STAR.tga STAR.tga SUN.TGA TWPOSTPROCESS.FX this new installment is quite a ..specific... release in therms of general looks and feel to it if I may call it as such. The included TWPOSTPROCESS.FX is toned down (decreased) full-screen bloom, fainter than the beta 1 release. Looks better I think, not overdone bloomfiesta. The new 512^ horizon clouds for all weather states (clear, scattered, broken, overcast, inclement) are a neat addition I think BUT there is slight issue with their colours transition vs the particle-based clouds lighting at certain sky conditions/time of day. Something I need to still adjust. Also as this was on-and-off project in the past few months I lost track of some of values adjustments but there is sudden spike of brightness between dawn/dusk twilight and early day/late evening sky colours, something I have had problems with in the past too IIRC. Ohh well, crap happens. Some clouds graphics got well-deserved updates in highres so now scattered clouds look less "buildt up" than broken ones, while clear ones are fluffy little errr... floaters anyway I upload this as is as the eventual updates I forsee would be more ini-related which is simpler for me than re-uploading some 360 megabytes (slow upload for me here) Overall this edition gives more of old classic CFS1 feel to the scenes and is worth experimenting with further, to which you are as allways encouraged. All sky textures based on my own sky photography as usual. Shame we can't have much more clouds shapes variations (the 4-piece bottom rows) the TileFactor= value doesn't seem to work now and I can't say if it worked before (in theory this variablre could determine if you use texture atlas of say 4x4 or 8x8 etc tiles) And again, this isn't new "widesky" or "better widesky", or any similar "full realism of looks" mod, it is and allways been Slightly Artistic Representation (of) Clouds And Sky Mod have fun

Hello and merry x-mas. My pc just died, it was old and slow anyway.. and a new one is on the way. So my question: is thirdwire still open for business? Do they still sell the game? If not.. where can I get it? Thanx.. - Tommy.
