6 pointsNo need to apologize. I'm sure there are faults and errors in. Sometimes there is very little information available, sometimes it's typos, sometimes it's bad references. Even in the pictures above are 2 or 3 errors (I already fixed those). But I try to be precise. Here's another case for "very little information" and therefor maybe faulty. Seem like the paintjob for the next deployment of VA-112 (18. Nov. '67 to 28. Jun. '68) is exactly the same, but I also have a photo with a bright yellow stripe, which doesn't make any sense and where the color is probably not changed from the former deployment (with Modex 2xx = bright yellow). 2 pointsI started writing during my studies at the University. There we had to write longer texts and i found out, that i liked it. During this time i visited the ILA airshow in Berlin and i came in contact with some exhibitors. I asked them questions over questions and someone asked back, wheter i'm a journalist. I denied. But an idea was born. I wrote a short article about the modernisation of the MiG-23 and sent it to an Air Magazin. Then i forgot the whole thing. But some weeks later the Air Magazing answered and published my article. Others followed. Then, some years later the german publishing house Motorbuchverlag Stuttgart started with a seria of small books called "Typenkompass". I liked this small dictionaries and so i wrote one about the combat aircrafts of the east german air force. Then i sent it to Stuttgart, with no much hope. But i was lucky, the lector who was responsible for aviation, read an article of me in the Air Magazin Fliegerrevue, when he got my proposal for a manuscript. So my name was not new for him and he saw my style to write. And he liked what he saw. The publishing house was interessted in this book and it was printed and published. Some books later the lector asked me, wheter i would like to write bigger books. And here we are! My ideas for you are: -start small. Write articles or small books in the way you want to read them. And send them to publishing houses. - Then pray and hope. But to be honest even if you has already a name in the branche, like me, you will have no certainty that the article or book will be published. I have written a lot of articles and some books which ended in the waste paper bin. Shit happens. It it happens more often that when you have success. - Never make the mistake of "self publishing"! There are publishing houses who offers "self publishing". What means you have to pay for that they print the book. They make no attempt to sell your book, this is your job. And selling a book is a very hard job. I dont know how it is in the country frome where you are, but in Germany "self publishers" are seen as "losers". No real publishing house will touch anything of them. Self publishing is like burn yourself.

You can either mount it on a virtual drive, burn it on a DVD like in the good old days, or unzip it with 7-Zip or equivalent software. The installer will automatically detect your installation of the required Strike Fighters 2 games by reading through the registry keys. Game folders that are copied from or manually moved from where they were originally installed are not supported. You need all three aforementioned Strike Fighters 2 games and they must be installed with ThirdWire's original installers, not manually copied from other sources nor moved elsewhere after installation to other folders or drives. If you do not meet any of these requirements, installation cannot proceed and you are on your own. If you install all required games properly, the installation of the mod will proceed correctly as intended. The installer then lets you choose where to install the mod folder; you can even install the mod on a different drive or partition than the one where Strike Fighters 2 is installed. No further user input nor manual edits after installation are ever required; the installer takes care of creating all proper links to your desired path for the mod folder. After installation is over, simply run the mod by using the created Desktop and/or Start Menu links. If you have a previous version of the mod installed, please use the uninstaller to remove it completely. Clean installation is mandatory. You might want to make a backup of the Controls folder, so that you can easily restore your controller settings afterwards. Suggestions on common issues Make sure that you are using your dedicated GPU. By default, Strike Fighters 2 usually selects the integrated GPU you may have on your CPU, which is much weaker in terms of VRAM. In case you have frequent crashes or black/missing textures, I highly suggest you download and install the DXVK graphics wrapper (x86 DLLs) into your Strike Fighters 2 game folder: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk. You need a Vulkan-compatible GPU. The wrapper can greatly improve the experience with the mod. With DXVK I can play the mod on a mere Intel UHD 710, whereas without it the mod would always crash to desktop. Go to Sound and set Sound Channels to 32. We got reports that 16 is not enough and will cause crashes on some systems, due to the higher quality sounds included within the mod. The mod is pretty heavy for the game engine despite huge optimizations. Strike Fighters 2's engine is 32bit only and apparently does not manage VRAM properly; consecutive campaign missions might show black/missing textures on objects or cause crashes to desktop because the game does not release the occupied VRAM from the previous mission you played, thus the more missions are loaded consecutively, the more easily you may run out of memory. Set Ground Objects to Medium or Low, Horizon Distance to Near, and Shadows to Medium or Low. These are the most troubling settings. Avoid Unlimited settings as much as possible. If the mod used to work and suddenly crashes to desktop, updating or reinstalling video drivers should help. Make sure that DirectX June 2010 Redistributables are also installed, they are included inside the ISO disk image of the mod. Inside the mod folder, you'll find some extra text files. "(Coalition Order of Battle)" should be of your interest; the mod's terrain covers the entirety of Iraq, at the cost of not having all of Saudi Arabia; this means that a number of important units are based on airbases that are beyond the in-game playable area. With those units you always spawn near the target area, you'll never get to start from a runway nor to land on the assigned runway beyond the invisible wall. You have an entire list of the affected units in the aforementioned text file. By pressing ALT+N, the plane returns to base automatically. The mod is fully compatible with the Campaign Customizer and Mission Editor DLCs by ThirdWire. The Campaign Customizer might be an alternative way to experience those off map units I mentioned previously, since it assigns you to a random airbase of the in-game flyable area. Escort missions are often broken, this is not an issue of the mod, but a bug of the stock game; sometimes the AI flight you escort does not engage its target and keeps flying in a straight line instead of following waypoints, thus the trigger for mission success will never happen. Abandon the mission or retry it if the issue happens, sometimes it works. Pray for ThirdWire AKA Tsuyoshi Kawahito to work on a 64bit version of Strike Fighters 2, maybe even with support for DirectX 12. With that done, any out of memory issues should become an old memory. -

It also combines the work of many other modders, in order to provide a realistic, better looking sky. Here below a quick summary of the changes: -Tweaked sky colours, something in between Cellinsky's widesky and the stock SF2 colours. -More realistic Night colours, sky and ambient are much darker. -More atmospheric, reddish transition from Twilight to Night. -New "dark blue" High Altitude colours (fly near space with a NF-104). -Moon produces a yellowish light instead of the default purple. -Sky is "wider" much like Cellinsky's widesky mod (background horizon clouds are bigger and more noticeable). -Added beautiful cloud graphics made by Cellinsky and ShrikeHawk, tweaked for each weather type. -Added a low number of stray clouds to Clear weather. -Added noticeable clouds to Overcast weather and Inclement weather, "fixing" a known SF2 "bug". -Combined various mods to produce a more interesting Rain Effect under Inclement weather. -Added Stary's lens flare effects from the SARCASM 2 mod, in place of Cellinsky's widesky effects. -Added Cloud Layer graphics by Stary, Fubar512 and Brain32. -Reworked secondary atmospheric effects, such as contrails and wingtip vortexes. In addition, the package includes alternative environment configuration files in the Alternative Weather folder; they enable different effects for the Inclement weather. You can choose between thunderstorm (default, adapt for most terrains), snowstorm (for cold, icy terrains) and sandstorm (for hot, desert terrains). For those who wish not to change the effect globally, I highly suggest to try the included terrain-specific environment example provided for stock SF2 terrains; the default global effect is thunderstorm, while terrains with their own environment file either use sandstorm or snowstorm as appropriate. Use this as a basis to customize other terrains. By setting the Effects to Unlimited, the game makes use of a DirectX 10 post processing effect; the stock game's post processing shader generates a pointless and horrible bloom effect which excessively blinds the player during twilight transitions. By default, realSKY includes a reworked post processing shader (TWPOSTPROCESS.FX) which provides more contrast, more vignetting, minor color correction and a daytime-only bloom effect, so it's miles better than what the stock game offers. Alternative post processing tweaks are included in the Alternative Shaders folder; choose the one you wish to try (check the included screenshots for fast comparisons) and overwrite the default one in your mod's Flight folder. 1 pointWritten in advance for I won't have time tomorrow 02/10/1915 Feldwebel Ailbe Blaz Dziarzowitz Haubourdin, Flanders. France FA 5 Lb 0 confirmed kills I took the past week to work on the ground and with testing my machine. I took my chance of putting my town's colours on the machine. Everything's too pale here in my opinion. We were supposed to take off over our lines yesterday, but the day was terrible. So we took a chance today. We're mostly equipped with Aviatiks, both B and C variants (I was lucky enough to get a C!), and Rittmeister Johann Marach (classy chap, by the way) has the luck to fly one of those amazing new Eindeckers. I took off at 11:15pm with him, although we went on our separate ways. I was assigned Oberleutnant Findeisen. The flight was smooth as the butter I spread on the bread in the morning, and we were able to see some good pictures. We were even able to capture some hostile machinery moving towards our lines on one of the roads that were not destroyed. I've even managed to snatch a couple compliments from the Rittmeister.

Good luck to him. Sergeant Kenneth Hardie 6 Squadron RFC Abeele airfield 30/09/1915 The lorry came to a halt near to the main buildings of Abeele airfield. Kenneth climbed out and twisted his hips and neck. It had been a horrendously bobbly journey and he was pleased to be here. The troop ship across the channel had been a pleasure, the journey to the airfield anything but. The Corporal driving tipped a wink to Kenneth and drove off. Kenneth stepped upto what looked like the main building and entered. There, an adjutant was busy with papers as Kenneth approached his desk. After what seemed an age he absently looked up towards Kenneth, "Yes Sergeant? Can I help you?" said the Staff Sergeant. Kenneth passed the senior NCO his papers, "I've been assigned here Staff Sergeant". The adjutant rather irritably put his own papers down and took Kenneth's. "Ah Sergeant Hardie. Yes of course. Wait here please and I'll see if the Major can see you now". He went to the door opposite, knocked and entered, before reappearing, "Major Shephard will see you now", stated the adjutant. Kenneth entered the Major's office and came sharply to attention. The adjutant shut the door and left them to it. "Ah Sergeant Hardie, at ease. Welcome to number 6. How was your journey?" said the Major. "Thank you sir, it was alright, the lorry here was a bit...... hard going sir" said Kenneth with a rueful smile. The Major smiled too "Yes the roads around here can hardly be called roads at all". The Major looked over Kenneth's papers. "So you were a gunner? Mons, La Cateux, Ypres. You've certainly put your hours in on the ground Sergeant." said the Major respectfully. "Thank you sir, yes it's been quite a couple of years hasn't it." replied Kenneth. "How many hours do you have Sergeant?" asked the Major. He had the answer in front of him but he always liked to hear it from the pilot. "Twelve in BE's sir and three in FE2's" replied Kenneth. "Three in FE2's eh? How did you manage that back in Blighty? asked Major Shephard. "I was lucky to spend a few days in Gosport before embarking sir and they had some Fees there. I was able to take a few of them up" replied Kenneth. "Do you like flying then?" asked the Major. "I love machines sir, being an engineer, the idea that something can use its own power to climb away from the ground and fly around has always interested me. Then when I'm up there....it's a great feeling" replied Kenneth, giving more away than he had planned for, but it was always a question that got him going. "Hmm interesting, it's good you find it all so enjoyable Sergeant, just remember there's a war on. There's men and machines out there who are intent on your death and destruction." said the Major in a hard but friendly manner. "Oh I fully appreciate what we're up against sir and I can only hope I get the chance to pay the beggars back tenfold" replied Kenneth with that sly grin again. The Major smiled, "That's good to hear Sergeant. Well go and find your billet and grab some food. The adjutant will show you both. Not to mention where the Sergeant's mess is. Although after last night's party, it might not be so busy tonight." said the Major. "There was a party last night sir?" asked Kenneth. "Yes, for your predecessor, Major Lanoe Hawker. It was quite a send off. He's off back to Blighty on a new assignment. That's why you're here." replied the Major. "Well, i'll do my best sir" said Kenneth. "Good. In fact once you've unpacked and eaten I'll introduce you to the rest of the Sergeants and then the Officers. One of whom will be your Observer." finished the Major. "Very good sir" said Kenneth who saluted and left Sure enough the adjutant showed Kenneth his billet, which consisted of a decent sized tent and a single camp bed. Having dumped his gear he then went over to the mess and was able to grab some soup and bread rolls which were left over from dinner. The Major then did indeed show Kenneth around. In the Sergeant's Mess were Sergeants Randy Wimund from Vancouver and Jem (short for Jeremy) Barnes, who was a fellow Scot from Muchalls in Aberdeenshire. The adjutant, Staff Sergeant James Reid was also in there. Kenneth was then taken to the officer's Mess and met a few. Captain Wallace O'Bannon was first to come greet Kenneth. He was from Penryn in Cornwall and already had 3 confirmed victories flying the Bristol Scout. Kenneth was finally introduced to Captain Charles Barnard, who was to be Kenneth's observer. Barnard, from Princes Risborough was 27 and had been in the cavalry before and during the war. He transferred to the RFC as an Observer in late 1914. Captain Barnard and Kenneth talked for a little while and Major Shephard confirmed that the pair would be airborne tomorrow.....weather permitting. After a drink with the Captain, Kenneth headed back to the Sergeant's Mess. He stayed for a hour or so and then retired back to his tent, excited for tomorrow. 01/10/1915 Kenneth woke, nervous and excited.....he walked over to the entrance of his tent and opened the flap.....the sky was a dark and sinister grey and the rain was tippling down. After breakfast, Major Shephard came around the two Mess rooms and confirmed that the flying was cancelled for the day. Silence fell across the room.......... "A see ye broucht our weather ower wi ye" said Sergeant Barnes in his broad Scottish accent. Even Major Shephard enjoyed that one. Kenneth spent some of the day in conversation with Captain Barnard. "What do I do in a BE2 if we run into an Eindecker?" asked Kenneth. "One thing you don't do is panic Sergeant. If he's on our tail kick your rudder around and try and give me a shot, listen to my shouts. If he's elsewhere, use your imagination dear boy", replied the Captain. Kenneth smiled, "Have you met any of them?" he asked. "Twice now, and the first time my pilot tried to dive away, presenting his arse to the German who filled it with bullets. We barely made it down." replied the Captain. "What are our missions generally?" asked Kenneth. "Spotting, reconnaissance, bombing. A good mix to he honest. We'll always carry bombs, even on recon jaunts. In case a target presents itself and it generally does. That's something your predecessor drilled into us." replied the Captain. The rest of the day passed in a similar vein. As the day drew to a close the weather seemed to clear. Too late for flying today but bode well for tomorrow.

1 pointA amazing piece of pure art, only possible due to the love of the modders in develop something fun, historical correct and at high level. I just want to say thank you guys, its a pleasure to fly, to see, to listen...again, thank you. (Sometimes I got crashes/ctd´s at loading, even with my hardwire being powerfull and quite above the minimum specs,I dont blame the team, I totally understand the engine issues, age and etc.)
