3 pointsHmmm yeah, something weird is going on with my inbox, I think it needed a little clean up, I deleted a few things in there... Well, not only do I fly F-16s, but I've been trying to finish a "simple" mod based on the Chilean Air Force for a long time... I say simple in quotes because over time I found details and solutions. of the same in the excellent viper team model... I actually thought of working on the YAP vipers, but although they are very precise the viper team work has more animations and covers the wide variety of blocks and variants... Here are some improvements... * Relocated (and slightly scaled) IFF and RWR antennas * Canopy frames with their respective black borders (in blocks D and B I managed to thicken the frame that divides the cabins) * The section of the engine shown between the fuselage and the nozzle on the B models had a mapping problem that only showed a narrow ring, now also fixed... Some corrections in the drawing of the panel lines (not of the number of rivets type) but something better was achieved. I did a lot of this with added 3D with fake pilot and hiding/overlaying things...also did some work on the canopy TGAs...so far I think it meets my expectations. Later I will try to show new images

2 pointsHello everyone! There is one more thing I want to discuss about; My plan for SFCE and SFCE Avionics overhaul As you can see, add-on cockpits have unique radar scope texture. I am going to use that for SFCE Avionics overhaul. For now, I intend to keep SFCE using TW style radar with black background: The reason for this decision is that many other TW aircraft use radar scope with background too. It preserves your familiarity with the usage of the radar in any aircraft in SFCE. However, in the SFCE Avionics overhaul, it is planned for all aircraft to have historical radar scope colors and textures. This includes having Su-9 radar scope texture restored too: However, due to the hardcoded SF2 limitation, for now, we can not change the specific radar symbols or changing the colors. This is why I believe in balancing the readability and immersive. To do this, I will darken the radar scope texture, so there will be more contrast between green radar symbols and background color whie keeping the radar scope texture/color as possible. You will see this in SFCE - Avionics overhaul after SFCE is completed. Eagle114th

Minimum Requirements Required products from ThirdWire: Strike Fighters 2, July 2013 patch Strike Fighters 2: Israel, July 2013 patch Strike Fighters 2: North Atlantic, July 2013 patch Full support for: Mission Editor DLC Campaign Customizer DLC System specs: OS: Windows 7 x86 Processor: Dual Core 2.7 GHz Memory: 4.0 GB RAM Hard Drive: 17.0 GB Free Space Video Card: 1024 MB DirectX 10 Sneak Peek Disclaimer CombatACE.com shall at all times retain ownership of the Software as originally downloaded by you and all subsequent downloads of the Software by you. In no event, unless required by applicable law or agreed to in writing, shall CombatACE.com, or any person be liable for any loss, expense or damage, of any type or nature arising out of the use of, or inability to use this installer or program, including, but not limited to, claims, suits or causes of action involving alleged infringement of copyrights, patents, trademarks, trade secrets, or unfair competition. Various contents of this modification are exclusive, as such you are NOT allowed to share, redistribute and/or make use of the mod and/or its contents for other purposes, without the consent of the mod's developers. Contents of the modification are the copyright of their respective authors. Notes about the installer Beware, the mod is available only in the ISO format. You can either mount it on a virtual drive, burn it on a DVD like in the good old days, or unzip it with 7-Zip or equivalent software. The installer will automatically detect your installation of the required Strike Fighters 2 games by reading through the registry keys. Game folders that are copied from or manually moved from where they were originally installed are not supported. You need all three aforementioned Strike Fighters 2 games and they must be installed with ThirdWire's original installers, not manually copied from other sources nor moved elsewhere after installation to other folders or drives. If you do not meet any of these requirements, installation cannot proceed and you are on your own. If you install all required games properly, the installation of the mod will proceed correctly as intended. The installer then lets you choose where to install the mod folder; you can even install the mod on a different drive or partition than the one where Strike Fighters 2 is installed. No further user input nor manual edits after installation are ever required; the installer takes care of creating all proper links to your desired path for the mod folder. After installation is over, simply run the mod by using the created Desktop and/or Start Menu links. If you have a previous version of the mod installed, please use the uninstaller to remove it completely. Clean installation is mandatory. You might want to make a backup of the Controls folder, so that you can easily restore your controller settings afterwards. Suggestions on common issues Make sure that you are using your dedicated GPU. By default, Strike Fighters 2 usually selects the integrated GPU you may have on your CPU, which is much weaker in terms of VRAM. In case you have frequent crashes or black/missing textures, I highly suggest you download and install the DXVK graphics wrapper (x86 DLLs) into your Strike Fighters 2 game folder: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk. You need a Vulkan-compatible GPU. The wrapper can greatly improve the experience with the mod. With DXVK I can play the mod on a mere Intel UHD 710, whereas without it the mod would always crash to desktop. Go to Sound and set Sound Channels to 32. We got reports that 16 is not enough and will cause crashes on some systems, due to the higher quality sounds included within the mod. The mod is pretty heavy for the game engine despite huge optimizations. Strike Fighters 2's engine is 32bit only and apparently does not manage VRAM properly; consecutive campaign missions might show black/missing textures on objects or cause crashes to desktop because the game does not release the occupied VRAM from the previous mission you played, thus the more missions are loaded consecutively, the more easily you may run out of memory. Set Ground Objects to Medium or Low, Horizon Distance to Near, and Shadows to Medium or Low. These are the most troubling settings. Avoid Unlimited settings as much as possible. If the mod used to work and suddenly crashes to desktop, updating or reinstalling video drivers should help. Make sure that DirectX June 2010 Redistributables are also installed, they are included inside the ISO disk image of the mod. Inside the mod folder, you'll find some extra text files. "(Coalition Order of Battle)" should be of your interest; the mod's terrain covers the entirety of Iraq, at the cost of not having all of Saudi Arabia; this means that a number of important units are based on airbases that are beyond the in-game playable area. With those units you always spawn near the target area, you'll never get to start from a runway nor to land on the assigned runway beyond the invisible wall. You have an entire list of the affected units in the aforementioned text file. By pressing ALT+N, the plane returns to base automatically. The mod is fully compatible with the Campaign Customizer and Mission Editor DLCs by ThirdWire. The Campaign Customizer might be an alternative way to experience those off map units I mentioned previously, since it assigns you to a random airbase of the in-game flyable area. Escort missions are often broken, this is not an issue of the mod, but a bug of the stock game; sometimes the AI flight you escort does not engage its target and keeps flying in a straight line instead of following waypoints, thus the trigger for mission success will never happen. Abandon the mission or retry it if the issue happens, sometimes it works. Pray for ThirdWire AKA Tsuyoshi Kawahito to work on a 64bit version of Strike Fighters 2, maybe even with support for DirectX 12. With that done, any out of memory issues should become an old memory. 1 pointReport for today: Su-9 is almost completed. It also come with Stary excellent Su-9 cockpit. Here is screenshots: Eagle114th

1 pointYes, you're absolutely correct, Cliff 7600. It's the RPM entries in the cockpit .ini [RPM] Type=TACHOMETER NodeName=needle_rpm MovementType=ROTATION_Y Set[01].Position=0.0 Set[01].Value=0.0 Set[02].Position=2880.0 Set[02].Value=1.0 [RPM2] Type=TACHOMETER NodeName=needle_rpm_2 MovementType=ROTATION_Y Set[01].Position=0.0 Set[01].Value=0.0 Set[02].Position=360.0 ------------------------------------[I changed this to 500, and the Needles read 8000 RPM at max throttle, as per Flight Manual] Set[02].Value=1.75 I should have know better than adjusting the engine settings in the Data.ini. I have a note on how to adjust the handover point between Mil Power and afterburner to suit your physical throttle detent. So naturally that has nothing to do with RPM settings. Thank you for your immense help

1 pointVersion 10.6 Mini Addon (Limited RPM Control on the Sop. 1B1 Variants), June 19, 2022 - A very small package that includes two alternative data inis for the Sop. 1B1 types included previously in the Ver. 10.5 FM package, and which allows for limited RPM control of the rotary engine. I will consider implementing such a change across many rotary-engine types included in my big FM pack (Ver. 10.0) in the future, time-permitting and if practical of course. A link to the mini addon pack is located below the pic. that follows. Cheers all, Von S EDIT: removed download package - now included in the ver. 11.0 FM/realism package.

1 pointTake a look at that picture: You will notice that the Matra Magic missile is loaded on an angled rail. As far as I know the anlgled rail was for French IRMs and the straight one was for AIM-9s. Probably the Magic missile needed bigger separatiion from the inner pylon stores. I am thinking of those bomb-carrying fuel tanks, that had bombs hanging on the sides, designation RPK-10.

1 pointVersion 10.5 Addon (Stock Strutters Overhaul), June 10, 2022 - New types added are overhauled stock Strutters in FE2, as well as a Sop. 1B1 that is a lovely aircraft for sightseeing, recon., as well as light fighting duties (when it has no bomb load). Also added to all Strutters now are functioning and animated air brakes. As always, check over the included, main READ ME file for more info. and details. A link to the addon FM pack is available under the pic. below. For the big, ver. 10.0 FM pack, see the main download page of this series of posts (instead of these support threads). Cheers all and happy flying, Von S EDIT: removed download package - now included in the ver. 11.0 FM/realism package.

1 pointIt is not. This is about the stock TW IcelandNA terrain, and both Reykjavík Airport and Keflavík Naval Air Station reference their own airfield data.ini file, like all of the other airports recreated specifically by TW for this terrain. Simply put, this may well be a bug with the airport's data.ini file referenced in the terrain's targets.ini. This is what the stock terrain includes and uses for Keflavík Naval Air Station, extracted from the latest July 2013 version: ICELAND_AIRFIELD7.INI Same for Reykjavík Airport, it uses this: ICELAND_AIRFIELD6.INI

1 pointHello everyone, Just to let everyone know, I am discontinuing the Dhimar vs. Paran project. Instead, I am working on an entirely new project that creates two new fictional nations from an alternative world. That way, I can write the new story afresh instead of expanding an existing nations. It does not feel right replacing everything that an author of SF2 has written initially about Dhimar and Paran. UPDATE: The information is posted at the 2nd page.

1 pointFollowing initial trials in the early 1960's the US Army purchased 10 Fiat G-91R1's for evaluation in Vietnam, much to the annoyance of the USAF ...After completion of the trials the US Army requested delivery of a new planned G-91YS variant in the planning stages at that time. The USAF strongly objected fearing a rival to the F-5A and intrusion on their own missions sets. This was further exacerbated when the small, powerful, nimble, gun and missile-armed jets achieved some air-to-air kills. South Vietnam also trialed the aircraft but took the F-5 instead after pressure from the USAF and US politicians. The remaining airframes were shipped back to the states for disposal.
