                               --------------------------------------
                                        Strike Fighters 2:
                                           RED EDITION
                               --------------------------------------

      This is "expansion pack" for "Strike Fighters 2: North Atlantic" (SF2NA) adds new aircraft, ground objects, guns, weapons, and effects to standard installs of SF2NA. It also supplies an upgraded version of the IcelandNA terrain, an expanded version of the default "Northern Sabre" campaign, as well as five additional campaigns set in various years from 1969 to 1986.

      There are x4 new RED Campaigns (Playable with Soviet, China, USN, USAF,  FrenchNavy, RoyalNavy, RAF):
      1. Northern Sabre (2031)  - [Iceland theater]
      2. RED Northern Sabre (1986) - [Iceland theater]
      3. Battle for Kuril islands (1986) - [Far East theater]
      4. Battle for Kuril islands (2031) - [Far East theater]
      This mod came with upgraded SAM systems (Ground Objects) and ability to actively play with some SAM systems.

      To use this mod, you must have SF2NA installed in a merged install that also includes "Strike Fighters 2" (SF2), "Strike Fighters 2: Europe" (SF2E), and "Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam" (SF2V).
      Note that this is a COMPLETE mod package and should be installed to its own dedicated Mod Folder. Please do not attempt to combine it with any other major mod such as "NATO Fighters," as you could end up with a non-working install.

      This mod needs almost 40 of space on your PC HDD and contain 203 aircrafts (with all decals & skins) also have wide range of all available weapons
      for Strike Fighters 2 aircrafts.
      Also contains 6 terrains (IcelandNA, Kurilen, Kosovo, Donbass, DS, Est_Med) and 11 Campaigns.
      ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      >>> IMPORTANT <<<
      p.s
      >>> Please DO NOT INSTALL THIS MOD into the "Operation Desert Storm: 30th Anniversary" pack. That pack already has these aircrafts, customized for the ODS30 theater <<<
      >>> Start game in LOW Graphic settings (choose in Option, 640x480 resolution) and than gradualy increase performance ! (Unlimited Graphic settings on WINDOWS 10PRO & 11 are known that can cause "Black screen" in game) <<<
      >>> It is known that Strike fighters 2 have All sort of problems starting on WINDOWS 10 PRO, WINDOWS 11  operating systems, especially equiped with INTEL hardware <<<
      >>> IF YOU CAN, PREFER WINDOWS 7 operating system for SF2 <<<

      -----------------------------------
      * STEP 1: PREPARE THE MOD FOLDER  *
      -----------------------------------
      This mod requires a separate Mod Folder. Please do not attempt to install this mod over or combine it with any other mods package such as "NATO Fighters" or the SF2V Expansion Pack.
      - Open your SF2 Installation directory and make a copy of StrikeFighters2 NorthAtlantic.exe. Rename the copied .EXE file to StrikeFighters2 RED EDITION.exe
      - Run the newly copied and renamed .EXE file, then exit back out to the Windows desktop after navigating through a few menus. A custom Mod Folder for your "SF2NA Expansion Pack"
      install will have been created in one of these locations:
         Windows XP:    \Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\ThirdWire\[YourModFolder]
         Windows Vista: \Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\[YourModFolder]
         Windows 7:     \Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\[YourModFolder]
      ...where [YourModFolder] matches the name of the copied .EXE file that you created. You will install the "Expansion Pack" mod files to your Mod Folder.
      - Open your Mod Folder and delete the \Objects sub-directory (including everything in it).
      Now you're ready to install the "Expansion Pack" mod proper.
      -------------------------------------------------
      * STEP 2: INSTALL MAIN COMPONENTS TO MOD FOLDER *
      -------------------------------------------------
      This is the easiest step.
      - Unpack the three "Expansion Pack" archive packages that you downloaded to a temporary location on your hard drive.
      - Move the *contents* of the \To_Mod_Folder directory from each package to your Mod Folder (created in Step 1 above). (Note: do not simply drag and drop the folder named "To_Mod_Folder" or you will end up with a non-working install.)
      If you've moved everything correctly, you should have a new \Objects sub-directory in your Mod Folder, along with a few new other sub-directories.
      ----------------------------
      * STEP 3: EDIT OPTIONS.INI *
      ----------------------------
      This last step involves a bit of text editing, so please pay attention.
      Open the Options.INI file in your Mod Folder. Locate the "Single Mission" section. I recommend setting the StartYear= and EndYear= as follows:
      StartYear=1948
      EndYear=2099
      Finally, a little further down you should find the "Campaign" section. Replace it with the following:
      [Campaign]
      CampaignName=Battle for Kuril islands (1986)
      PlayerService=Soviet
      PlayerUnit=MiG FACTORY TEST SQUADRON 2
      AircraftType=MiG-19SKM
      Difficulty=NORMAL
      Length=NORMAL
      AircraftSupply=NORMAL
      WeaponSupply=NORMAL
      LoadCampaign=FALSE
      CampaignSavename=odzadze's Campaign 1.SAV
      Save your changes and close the Options.INI file.
                                              * * * * *
      THAT'S IT. Your "StrikeFighters2 RED EDITION" mod should now be ready to use. You may consider installing some of the "optional" items as described in the next section.

    2. Falklands Mod HMS Ark Royal ‘what if’ campaign

      SF2 Falklands Mod HMS Ark Royal ‘what if’ campaign 1.1

      This package contains everything you need for an Operation Corporate campaign that uses the HMS Ark Royal with her F-4K Phantom FG.1 and Buccaneer S.2D airwing as if they were all still in service for the 1982 Falklands war.
      It works solely with the updated version of Kesselbrut's "Falklands '82" (Operation Corporate) mod package for Strike Fighters 2 (SF2) uploaded by Dave https://combatace.com/files/file/11627-sf2-falklands-mod/
      In this ‘what if’ scenario the Royal Navy Invincible class carriers have been delayed entering service requiring the HMS Ark Royal to remain active along with her FAA aircraft into the early 1980’s. As such the HMS Ark Royal leads the Royal Navy Task Force to recapture the Falkland Islands. The HMS Hermes serves as her sister carrier in the Task Force operating Sea Harriers and RAF Harriers. However the size and role of her Sea Harrier airwing is more reflective of the ships role as an ASW/ Commando Carrier as it was when the HMS Ark Royal was still active in real life. Meaning the bulk of the air war will be fought by the Phantoms and Buccaneers from the Ark Royal.
      The F-4K Phantom (75) are as they were at the end of Royal Navy service but with the addition of Skyflash and G model Sidewinder missiles (RN Phantoms only ever carried the D). One would assume they would have received these alongside the RAF FG.1/ FGR.2 Phantoms had they remained in service with the Navy after 1978. AIM-9L Sidewinders are also available for the Operation as they were for the Sea Harriers in real life. I have also made the SUU-23/A available but it is not used in any loadouts as it was only integrated onto the FG.1 after they were handed over to the RAF and upgraded with lead computing gunsights. The HEI rounds do not have tracers.
      The Buccaneer S.2D is also as it was at the end of Royal Navy service but with the ECM pods carried by the RAF Buccaneer force in 1982 and the ability to carry the Pave Spike pod. As I imagine these capabilities would have been transferred over from the RAF Buccaneers if this ‘what if’ had scenario had occurred. As well as using the G model Sidewinders of the Phantoms.
      Both aircraft have a big single shot of Chaff simulating how they loaded it inside the airbrakes of aircraft without dispensers in that era.

      Installation:

      In addition to the requirements for SF2 Falklands Mod 2.0 you will need Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam (SF2V) for the F-4K cockpit as the F-4J cockpit is more accurate for a Royal Navy F-4K than the Third Wire DLC F-4K cockpit or Third Wire F-4M cockpit.

      STEP 1:

      If you don’t already have a working version of the SF2 Falklands Mod 2.0 download and install it by following the instructions here

      This mod requires a separate Mod Folder from the StrikeFighters2_Falklands Mod Folder you already have or created in step 1.

      - Open your SF2 Installation directory and make a copy of the StrikeFighters2_Falklands.exe you already have, Rename the copy to StrikeFighters2_Falklands_ArkRoyal.exe

      - Run the newly copied and renamed StrikeFighters2_Falklands_ArkRoyal.exe file, then exit back out to the Windows desktop after navigating through a few menus. A custom Mod Folder for your Falklands'82 Ark Royal mod install will have been created in the same location as your StrikeFighters2_Falklands Mod Folder you already have.

      - Open your Mod Folder named StrikeFighters2_Falklands_ArkRoyal and delete the \Objects sub-directory (including everything in it).

      STEP 3: INSTALL MAIN COMPONENTS TO MOD FOLDER

      - Copy and paste everything from your StrikeFighters2_Falklands Mod Folder you already had into the StrikeFighters2_Falklands_ArkRoyal Mod Folder you just created in step 2 EXCEPT the Options.INI file and the Version.INI file.

      - Unpack the SF2_Falklands82ArkRoyal.7z archive package to a location on your hard drive.

      - Move the contents of the \To_Mod_Folder directory to your StrikeFighters2_Falklands_ArkRoyal Mod Folder (created in Step 2 above) YOU MUST OVERIDE WHEN ASKED!

      STEP 4: EDIT OPTIONS.INI

      Open the Options.INI in your StrikeFighters2_Falklands_ArkRoyal Mod Folder. Locate the "Instant Action" section and replace it with the following:

      [instantAction]
      AircraftType=F-4K_75
      MissionMap=Malvinas
      StartTime=15:15:00
      StartDate=05/21/1982
      StartTimeDeviation=10
      TextureSet=0
      NationalMarking=0
      SquadronMarking=0
      AircraftNumber=0
      KillMarking=0

      Just below the "Instant Action" section is the "Single Mission" section. At minimum you should change the EndYear= statement to 1983 or higher. I recommend setting the StartYear= and EndYear= as follows:

      StartYear=1982
      EndYear=1983

      Save your changes and close the Options.INI file.

      THAT'S IT. Your "Falklands'82 Ark Royal for SF2" mod should now be ready to use.

    3. Wings Over Ogaden

      Hello! Thank you for downloading my mod!

      This mod is based of the Ogaden War, an obscure conflict not really known or told about today. So I decided to make a campaign based off of it! Be warned, this mod probably won't be super historically accurate, please bear with me as this is my first ever mod and there will most likely be bugs. Thank you!

      It is July 13th, 1977, and Somalia has invaded the Ogaden, an area in the Horn of Africa claimed to be held by both Somalia and Ethiopia. Claiming that the Ogaden belonged to "Greater Somalia", combined with both deteriorated relations with the USSR and superpower intervention in Africa, Somali Dictator Siad Barre orders for troops to enter and recapture Somali inhabited territories in the Horn of Africa, with the Ogaden being first. The Ethiopians desperately fight back but being completely caught off guard and with their military being weak thanks to the Derg's overthrowing the Emperor of Ethiopia three years earlier, the Somalis captured up to 90% of the region, and their Air Force prowls the skies above the fight on the ground. Despite the odds, with the United States aircraft and the Soviet Union's support and supplies, it is up to the Ethiopian Air Force's Tigers, Frescos, Canberras, transports, sorties around the clock, and the Ethiopian Ground Forces to recapture the region and push the Somalis out of the region. Scramble immediately, and take back the skies of the Ogaden!

      Notes about the installer
      Beware, the mod is available only in the ISO format. You can either mount it on a virtual drive, burn it on a DVD like in the good old days, or unzip it with 7-Zip or equivalent software.
      The installer will automatically detect your installation of the required Strike Fighters 2 games by reading through the registry keys. Game folders that are copied from or manually moved from where they were originally installed are not supported. You need all three aforementioned Strike Fighters 2 games and they must be installed with ThirdWire's original installers, not manually copied from other sources nor moved elsewhere after installation to other folders or drives. If you do not meet any of these requirements, installation cannot proceed and you are on your own. If you install all required games properly, the installation of the mod will proceed correctly as intended. The installer then lets you choose where to install the mod folder; you can even install the mod on a different drive or partition than the one where Strike Fighters 2 is installed. No further user input nor manual edits after installation are ever required; the installer takes care of creating all proper links to your desired path for the mod folder. After installation is over, simply run the mod by using the created Desktop and/or Start Menu links.
      If you have a previous version of the mod installed, please use the uninstaller to remove it completely. Clean installation is mandatory. You might want to make a backup of the Controls folder, so that you can easily restore your controller settings afterwards.

      Suggestions on common issues
      Make sure that you are using your dedicated GPU. By default, Strike Fighters 2 usually selects the integrated GPU you may have on your CPU, which is much weaker in terms of VRAM. In case you have frequent crashes or black/missing textures, I highly suggest you download and install the DXVK graphics wrapper (x86 DLLs) into your Strike Fighters 2 game folder: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk. You need a Vulkan-compatible GPU. The wrapper can greatly improve the experience with the mod. With DXVK I can play the mod on a mere Intel UHD 710, whereas without it the mod would always crash to desktop. Go to Sound and set Sound Channels to 32. We got reports that 16 is not enough and will cause crashes on some systems, due to the higher quality sounds included within the mod. The mod is pretty heavy for the game engine despite huge optimizations. Strike Fighters 2's engine is 32bit only and apparently does not manage VRAM properly; consecutive campaign missions might show black/missing textures on objects or cause crashes to desktop because the game does not release the occupied VRAM from the previous mission you played, thus the more missions are loaded consecutively, the more easily you may run out of memory. Set Ground Objects to Medium or Low, Horizon Distance to Near, and Shadows to Medium or Low. These are the most troubling settings. Avoid Unlimited settings as much as possible. If the mod used to work and suddenly crashes to desktop, updating or reinstalling video drivers should help. Make sure that DirectX June 2010 Redistributables are also installed, they are included inside the ISO disk image of the mod. Inside the mod folder, you'll find some extra text files. "(Coalition Order of Battle)" should be of your interest; the mod's terrain covers the entirety of Iraq, at the cost of not having all of Saudi Arabia; this means that a number of important units are based on airbases that are beyond the in-game playable area. With those units you always spawn near the target area, you'll never get to start from a runway nor to land on the assigned runway beyond the invisible wall. You have an entire list of the affected units in the aforementioned text file. By pressing ALT+N, the plane returns to base automatically. The mod is fully compatible with the Campaign Customizer and Mission Editor DLCs by ThirdWire. The Campaign Customizer might be an alternative way to experience those off map units I mentioned previously, since it assigns you to a random airbase of the in-game flyable area. Escort missions are often broken, this is not an issue of the mod, but a bug of the stock game; sometimes the AI flight you escort does not engage its target and keeps flying in a straight line instead of following waypoints, thus the trigger for mission success will never happen. Abandon the mission or retry it if the issue happens, sometimes it works. Pray for ThirdWire AKA Tsuyoshi Kawahito to work on a 64bit version of Strike Fighters 2, maybe even with support for DirectX 12. With that done, any out of memory issues should become an old memory.

    5. Phillipines Campaign

      Update from "Partial Phillipines44" campaign, posted 7 27 21.  It's working now - don't know why but when I deleted the A6M7, it seems to have fixed the issue.  Hope you like it.

      After reading 'Race of Aces' (great book - get it) I wanted to fly and fight many types of aircraft on that terrain.
      This is my first try at a campaign, and it uses a lot of gutting and reverse engineering from:
      Regula50's https://combatace.com/files/file/16491-tainan-kokutai-new-guinea-1942-campaignpart-1/ and -2
      Pcpilot's   https://combatace.com/files/file/13709-solomons-campaign/
      Hope you guys don't mind - it's how I learn.  Also much thanks to all the various aircraft downloads from this site I've used.   This is a great community.
      If you don't have the various aircraft, just edit the ini's to ones you do have.

    6. Partial Phillipines44 campaign - help!

      Help!  This has been an attempt to make a fictional 1944 campaign around Wrench's very nice Phillipines terrain. https://combatace.com/files/file/14171-phillipines-islands-1944-ww2-pto-terrain-for-sf2/

      If you don't have the various aircraft, just edit the ini's
      I tossed various planes around on the bases.  Again, no attempt at historical accuracy.
      Problem:  The US aircraft all seem there and working, but only two groups of Japanese are working.  A6M7/Lahug Field and J2M1/La Carlotta Field.
      I can't get the rest of the Japanese aircraft to appear.  No idea what's wrong....
      -I've tried moving aircraft around on the various airbases
      -lengthened the runways in the terrain folder in case the planes needed longer ones
      -increased the max number of squadrons allowed on the airbases in the terrain folder
      -various other hail mary attempts I've forgotten about.
      There are a lot of values and parameters I still don't understand in the ini's.  If anyone wants to try to fix this and repost it I'd appreciate it.

    7. NF-104 'X Plane" Mission

      After reading about the flight research done around Edwards in the 50s, 60s, and 70s, I wanted to make a similar mission.   This is an entirely fictional scenario, as I don't have any actual X-plane ad-ons to use for the sim, and I wanted to fly over Hawaii.  The terrain is incredible.
      You'll need:
      Spillone104's terrific NF-104: https://combatace.com/files/file/11594-lockheed-nf-104a-for-sf2/
      Menrva's beautiful Hawaii terrain: https://combatace.com/files/file/17485-hawaii-central-pacific-1959-2028/
      Menrva's RealSky makes it great: https://combatace.com/files/file/16901-realsky-environment/
      You MUST have the 'Start On Ground' setting selected on the Options page or you go BOOM.
      The scenario starts with you dropping out from under a B52.  Full throttle and light the rocket off and have fun.  After burnout, try and glide to one of the runways for a deadstick landing.  For more challenge, simulate the high drag lifting body (M2-F2/3, HL-10, X-24A/B) vehicles by popping your boards at the top of the descent.
      I suggest maintaining 350+KIAS until beginning your flare.
      If you go over 115,000', the sim gets goofy and you're out of the cockpit.  As far as I can tell the aircraft continues on a ballistic trajectory.  Sometimes you'll come down in an upright or inverted spin, and it's fun to try to recover and still be able to glide to a runway.

      For a more complete accounting of the changes and additions in this version of the "Air and Ground Expansion Pack" see the "Version 2.1 Change Log" below.

      Note: this "updated" version of the Expansion Pack is a roll-up package that includes all the updates and fixes previously available in separately released updates (the "Terrain Tiles Update," the "January 2010 Update," and the "February 2010 Update").

      -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      2. Installation:

      A. PRELIMINARY NOTES

      We strongly recommend installing this expansion pack to an unmodded SF2V Mod Folder. Installing to a Mod Folder that contains other mods (e.g., new aircraft, weapons, ground objects, etc.) could result in a partially or completely broken installation.

      The SF2V Air & Ground Expansion Pack can be installed to a standalone install of SF2V or a "merged" install that includes the original SF2 and/or one of the other SF2 titles, SF2 Europe (SF2E) and SF2 Israel (SF2I). Depending on what other SF2 games your "merged" install includes and what patch level you are running, you may have an additional installation step.

      - Dec2009 & later installs: If you are installing the Expansion Pack to an SF2V installation that has been patched to the Dec2009 level (which includes the "Combo Pack") or later (e.g., the Feb2010 level), then you will have an extra intallation step (see below).

      - SF2I installs: If you are installing the expansion pack to a "merged" install that includes SF2 Israel (SF2I) but is NOT patched to Dec2009 level or later, then you will have an extra intallation step (see below). At minimum you will need to be at the Nov 2009 Update patch for SF2I available from ThirdWire.

      All ThirdWire patches and updates should be applied BEFORE installing the Expansion Pack.

      B. THE MAIN INSTALLATION

      To install this expansion pack properly:

      a) Ensure that "Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam" is already installed and patched to the latest level.

      b) If you have a prior installation of SF2V, rename your existing SF2V Mod Folder.

      Note: for more guidance on managing "Strike Fighters 2" installations and your Mod
      Folder, see this discussion at CombatAce:

      http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=40588&st=0&p=289170&&do=findComment&comment=289170

      c) Run the game once. The game will generate a fresh Mod Folder with default contents.

      d) Unpack all four .7z files (SF2V_AG-XP_v2_Part1.7z, SF2V_AG-XP_v2_Part2.7z, SF2V_AG-XP_v2_Part3.7z, SF2V_AG-XP_v2_Part4.7z) to a safe location on your drive.

      e) Simply drop the contents of the "To_Mod_Folder" into your Strike Fighters 2 Vietnam Mod Folder (NOT the folder that the game installs to). By default your Mod Folder should be located here:

      Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Vietnam\
      Windows Vista: \Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Vietnam\
      Windows 7: \Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Vietnam\

      If you have defined a custom Mod Folder, then drop the contents of "To_Mod_Folder" in that location.

      f) Download the FOTI A-6A from here:

      Copy the "cockpit" folder from the .RAR file and drop it into the following sub-directories of the \Aircraft directory in your SF2Vietnam Mod Folder (objects/aircraft):

      A-6A
      A-6B
      EA-6A
      EA-6B
      EB-66C
      KA-6D
      RB-66C

      If you are running SF2V are any patch level earlier than Dec2009 and your "merged" install does NOT include SF2I, then your installation process is finished.

      If you are running at the Dec2009 patch level (which includes the "Combo Pack") or later (e.g., the Feb2010 level), or your "merged" install DOES include SF2I, then you have one last step.

      g) SF2I & Dec2009 or later patch level users: this is your additional installation step.

      - If you are running the Dec2009 patch level (including the "Combo Pack") or later (e.g., the Feb2010 level), then open the \For_Dec2009_Patch directory. Drag and drop all the files and folders from within the \To_Mod_Folder to your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted.

      - If your "merged" install includes SF2I but is NOT patched to the Dec2009 patch level or later, then open the \For_SF2I directory. Drag and drop all the files and folders from within the \To_Mod_Folder to your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted.

      That's it. You should be good to go.

      C. OPTIONAL INSTALLATIONS

      Optionally, install the items included in the \Optional directory (see the "Optional Installs" section below for more information).

      You may also install the extra items and other bonus mods included in the \Extras folder. Please see the ReadMes included in those directories for more information.

      -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      3. Optional Installs

      Depending on what Series 2 games you have installed and whether you performed a "merged" install (creating a single Mod Folder for all your Series 2 games), you may need the items included in the \Optional directory.

      A. M60A1 tank

      If your SF2V Mod Folder has an \M60A1 directory in \GroundObject, then copy the M60A1_DATA.INI to that directory. If your Mod Folder doesn't have an \M60A1 directory in \GroundObject, then skip this item.

      B. A-4Bs

      Not all SF2 games ship with the A-4B and A-4B_65 Skyhawk. (Standalone SF2V installs, for example, will not have either A-4B version.) If you are applying the Expansion Pack to a "merged install" that does include the A-4Bs, you will want to also apply the customized A-4B files from the \Optional directory.

      First, verify that your SF2V install includes A-4Bs by checking the \Objects\Aircraft directory in your SF2V Mod Folder. If it does include A-4Bs, then copy the two folders from within the \Optional\A-4Bs directory to your the \Objects\Aircraft directory in your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted.

      C. Alternate MiG-17A

      If you have installed the Expansion Pack to a stand-alone installation of SF2V -- either because you don't have the other SF2 titles or elected not to perform a "merged" install -- then you will need to install the alternate MiG-17A included in the \Optional directory. To install it, simply drag and drop the \MiG-17 folder to the \Objects\Aircraft directory in your SF2V Mod Folder.

      D. ThirdWire MiG-17PF

      If you have "Strike Fighters 2: Europe" (SF2E) or "Strike Fighters 2: Israel" (SF2I) installed and you performed a "merged" install (meaning that all your SF2 games share a single Mod Folder), then you may use the ThirdWire MiG-17PF instead of the third-party MiG-17PF that ships with the expansion pack. If you have SF2E and wish to use the ThirdWire model, then do the following:

      - Remove the existing \MiG-17PF folder from your \Aircraft directory.

      - Copy the entire \MiG-17PF folder from \Optional to your Aircraft directory.

      At this point the game should start using the ThirdWire model.

      Hint: you always can tell what version of the MiG-17PF is currently installed by checking the name of the aircraft. The version shipped with the original Expansion Pack Beta will be identified as the "MiG-17PF Fresco-E." The ThirdWire model is identified as the "MiG-17PF Fresco-D."

      E. Dec2009 Cockpits

      In the Dec2009 patch for SF2 ThirdWire changed the way that cockpit poitions are calculated. This change affected the A-6A/B as well as the F-5B. In later patches (starting with the Feb2010 patch) ThirdWire reverted to the old method for determining cockpit positions.

      If you are running at the Dec2009 patch level (but NOT the Feb2010 or later level), then you should copy the three folders from the \Optional\Dec2009_Cockpits directory to the \Optional\Aircraft in your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted.

      F. Alternate Exhaust Emitters

      On some systems the custom exhaust emitters used on for the B-52s, F-4s, and the F-104C may cause slowdowns. If you experience severe frame rate drops whenever these aircraft are visible, you might consider switching to versions of the aircraft that use the standard DirtyExhaustEmitter.

      To install aircraft versions that use the DirtyExhaustEmitter in lieu of custom exhaust emitters, simply copy the folders from the \DirtyExhaust folder (excluding \_CustomExhaust) to the \Objects\Aircraft directory of your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted.

      A copy of the original DATA.INIs with the custom exhaust effects is included in the \_CustomExhaust sub-directory, in case you wish to revert back to the originals.

      G. Mobile SAM Launchers

      If you wish to increase the SAM threat in North Vietnam, you can use mobile SAM launchers to boost the number of active SAMs. To install the mobile SAM launchers, simply copy all folders from the \Mobile_SAMs folder to the \Objects\GroundObject directory of your SF2V Mod Folder.

      Note any mobile SAMs that exist in \Objects\GroundObject will show up in CAS missions in the "Easter Offensive" Campaign.

      H. Alternate Flak

      One of our main goals for this expansion pack was to make North Vietnamese air defenses more varied and deadly. We think we've succeeded. If you make it a habit to fly straight and level over Pack 6, you will be walking home.

      Included in the \Optional\Flak directory are three sets of files that you can use to change the effectiveness of the flak guns (37mm, 40mm, 57mm, 85mm, 100mm, & 130mm):

      1_Insane: only those with a masochistic streak should use this flak. Expect to see
      entire flights blown from the sky. Any campaigns you start are almost
      guaranteed to be very brief and extremely violent.

      2_Deadly: significantly deadlier than the default "Normal" flak (see below). Take
      care to plot flight paths around flak-infested areas and get out of the
      target area as quickly as possible. Despite your efforts, chances are high
      that at least one of your wingmen will not make it home.

      3_Normal: the least effective and the default installed with the Expansion Pack.
      Flak guns are still many times deadlier than in the stock ThirdWire game.
      Best practices are not to fly straight and level through flak-infested
      areas and not linger over targets.

      We recommend sticking with the default "Normal" flak, though you're welcome to test your nerve with the deadlier flak varieties. To change to a different flak level, simply copy the five sub-folders from flak directory you'd like to use to the \Objects\Guns directory of your SF2V Mod Dir, overwriting as prompted.

      I. Alternate Flak Effects

      On some lower-end systems the custom flak effects used in this expansion pack may cause severe slowdowns, esp. in large strikes with lots of flak guns opening up on multiple flights of aircraft. If you see large drop in frame rate performance during intense flak bursts, then you may want to use the alternate flak effects available in the \Flak_Effects directory.

      To install, simply drag and drop the four .INI files from the \LOW sub-directory of \Flak_Effects to the \Effects directory in your SF2V Mod Dir, overwriting as prompted. If you wish to restore the original flak effects, copy over the .INI files from the \HIGH sub-drectory to the \Effects directory in your SF2V Mod Dir.

      Note that using the alternate flak effects does NOT reduce the effectiveness of flak guns.

      J. Smoke-Marking Infantry Squads

      By default most friendly infantry squads (but not individual soldiers) will have their positions marked by red smoke. (The smoke-marking is performed by ENEMY squads -- a key point to remember.) There are several ways to customize this effect:

      1) If you would prefer not to have friendly squads's positions marked with red smoke, then you can turn that effect off. Copy the \NVA_Squad & \VC_Squad folders from \Optional\PopSmoke\Non-Smokers to the Objects\GroundObject directory in your SF2V Mod Folder, over-writing as prompted.

      2) If you would prefer to change the color of the smoke used to mark friendly squads, then drill down to the \Objects\GroundObject directory in your SF2V Mod Folder. You need to edit the VC_Squad_DATA.INI and NVA_Squad_DATA.INI. At the bottom of each file you will find the data for GunBarrel5:

      [GunBarrel5]
      SystemType=GUN
      GunTypeName=M18_Red_Smoke
      // GunTypeName=M18_Green_Smoke
      // GunTypeName=M18_Yellow_Smoke
      // GunTypeName=M18_Violet_Smoke

      The commented ( // ) GunTypeNames are disabled. Simply comment out the M18_Red_Smoke line and un-comment the line for the color you'd prefer to use.

      3) If you would like friendly squads to mark enemy squads with smoke, then drill down to the \Objects\GroundObject directory in your SF2V Mod Folder. You will need to edit the following files:

      ARVN_Squad_DATA.INI
      US_Squad_early_DATA.INI
      US_Squad_DATA.INI
      VNMC_Squad_DATA.INI

      At the bottom of each file you will find the data for GunBarrel5:

      [GunBarrel5]
      SystemType=GUN
      GunTypeName=DUMMY_GUN
      // GunTypeName=M18_Yellow_Smoke
      // GunTypeName=M18_Red_Smoke
      // GunTypeName=M18_Green_Smoke
      // GunTypeName=M18_Violet_Smoke

      By default GunBarrel5 for friendly squads uses the "Dummy_Gun," which does not pop smoke. Comment out the Dummy_Gun line and un-comment the line for the color of smoke you'd prefer friendly sqauds to mark enemy troops with.

      K. BUFF-less Campaigns

      On some systems B-52 strikes can degrade performance to the point where the game is almost unplayable. If you would like to fly campaigns that include no strikes by B-52s, copy the DATA.INIs included in the \NoBUFFs folder to the appropriate sub-directory in the \Campaigns directory of yur SF2V Mod Folder. For example, CAMPAIGNV1_DATA.INI would go to \Campaigns\CampaignV1, and so on.

      L. Alternate Terrain Tiles

      By default this mod package installs Pappa Goat's re-painted versions of the Brain32/Green Hell 2 tiles. If you would prefer to revert to the original tiles by Brain32 and CA_Stary (Green Hell 2) -- which are characterized by a lighter, more blue-ish tint -- you can install those original tiles from the \Optional\GH2_Alt directory.

      To install, simply copy all the .BMP and .TGA files from top level of the \Optional\GH2_Alt directory to the following locations in your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting files as prompted:

      [sF2V Mod Folder]\Terrains\VietnamSEA
      [sF2V Mod Folder]\Terrains\SouthVietnam

      The sub-directories of \Optional\GH2_Alt contain alternate air base tiles and differently sized trees that you can also use to tweak the terrains' appearance to your liking. The \_config sub-dir contain an alternate terrain DATA.INI that is designed for use with these alternate tiles.

      M. Old Diego's Optional Items

      Old Diego has generously allowed us to use a number of his terrain and ground object models. Most of these are installed by default with the expansion pack. A few ground object items, however, have been left as "optional" installs.

      Most of these "optional" are additional soldiers. We made them "optional" because we thought not all users would like the way the game will use them for Single Missions (esp. Armed Recon and CAS missions). For example, if you install the USArmyMortar item, you could see entire squads consisting only of mortar-equipped soldiers slugging it out with NVA regulars in CAS missions.

      These "optional" items from Old Diego could be useful for those building single missions for use with this expansion pack. If you would like to install these other items from Old Diego, simply copy all the folders from the \OldDiego directory to the \Objects\GroundObject directory in your SF2V Mod Dir.

      Please note that none of Old Diego's items may be re-used or re-distributed outside of this expansion pack without Old Diego's explicit permission. For a complete listing of the items from Old Diego included in this mod, see the section titled "Note on Old Diego's Items" towards the end of this ReadMe.

      -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      4. Known Issues

      A. General Notes

      - Default CAS loadout for A-1's should include CBU-25's on the outer wing stations, but the AI doesn't know how to use that weapon. So, load them onto your own aircraft, but don't load them on AI! The same holds true for CBU-14's, which are similar to the CBU-25's.

      - The A-1H/J Attack loadout (used for CAS and Armed Recon missions) specifies LAU-32 rocket pods on the outer wing stations. These will not show in the Loadout screen even though they will be loaded for the mission.

      - Similarly, in the Loadout screen some USAF F-4 loadouts may show either nothing loaded on the forward AIM-7 Sparrow missile wells or two ECM pods. In the mission itself those weapon stations will carry an ECM pod and a Sparrow respectively.

      - Due to a bug in the Single Mission engine for SF2 versions patched only to the May2009b level, the game will always choose the SAME ship/boat type to attack for Anti-Ship missions. The type is determined alphabetically -- whatever "Cargo_Ship" type comes first alphabetically in the GroundObject directory will be selected without variation. This bug appears to have been fixed at the June2009b patch level.

      - The model used for the RA-5C does not have a visible tailhook, though one is present on the aircraft. Thus, you can deploy the tailhook, and it will work -- it just won't be visible in external views. The same holds true for the P-2H Neptune.

      - The model used for the F-102A does have a visible tailhook, however, it is non-functional.

      - The F-100D Wild Weasel aircraft is not historically accurate. The first Wild Weasels actually used two-seater F-100F Super Sabres fitted out with special electronic equipment to locate and track the radars associated with the SA-2 Guideline. In mid-1966 they began upgrading to F-105Ds. As there is no F-100F model that we are allowed to re-distribute, we elected to cobble together a single-seat F-100D Wild Weasel to stand in its place.

      B. A Note on the Dec2009 & Later Patch Levels

      This updated package includes fixes for problems introduced by the Dec2009 patch for Strike Fighters 2 released by ThirdWire. These problems continue to affect subsequent patch levels, incuding the Feb2010 patch. If you have the "Combo Pack" (available from ThirdWire for a short period of time at the end of 2009) then you are affected.

      Although we have been able to address most issues introduced by the Dec2009 patch, in at least one case we have been able to offer only a work-around of sorts. The Dec2009 patch changes the way that terrain TGAs with "alpha layers" are rendered, causing weird display issues when viewing 3D trees through clouds at certain distances.

      We have no real fix for this bit of ugliness (which you'll immediately recognize if and when you see it). The best solution we've been able to come up with is to "disappear" the 3D trees with clear TGAs on the Dec2009 patch level. The terrain itself still looks fantastic, primarily because the terrain tiles created by Brain32 and CA_Stary (and modded by Pappa Goat) are so excellently detailed.

      We are hoping that ThirdWire will issue a follow-on patch to fix the trees/clouds issue. Until then, we think players will notice the missing 3D trees a lot less than the glaring eyesore of the oddish trees/clouds rendering caused by the Dec2009 patch.

      -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      We also spent some time working on the dock areas at Vinh, Hong Gai, and Haiphong, adding cranes, ships, and other structures to give the sense of an active port bristling with activity. We do plan to add still more target areas to the two terrains after the Gold release of this Expansion Pack, however, those will be released as separate terrain update packages.

      -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      6. New Terrain Items

      To support and populate all the new target areas, we have added several dozen new terrain objects. These new objects have been drawn mainly from the following third-party add-on terrains for the Strike Fighters series:

      - DRV Terrain (by Gepard)
      - Black Sea Terrain (by PFunkWorks)
      - Libya Terrain (by Wrench)
      - Norway Terrain (by S.Ansons)

      Templates for some Target Areas have been adapted from:

      - Operation Desert Storm (by ODS Group)

      The new terrain objects that we've added should be familiar to those who have used other third-party add-on terrains, as these objects tend to show up in many different terrains. The majority of objects were originally drawn from these sources:

      - CA_Stary's Forests & Farms Mod
      - Polak's Hi-Rise Mod & ObjectsPak1
      - JSF_Aggie's Enhanced Runways
      - RadarDome by Grumpapotamus
      - HeadQuarters, Control Center, Gas station, & Factory Area by Wingwiner
      - RailwayStation by Armourdave

      If you are a modder and we've used one of your terrain items but neglected to give you credit here, please let us know. We would be more than happy to add you to the credits list.

      -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      7. Terrain Notes

      This expansion pack splits the standard VietnamSEA terrain into two different terrains: North Vietnam and South Vietnam. We decided to go with a split North/South scheme in order to impose more control over the different operations in North and South Vietnam. To that end, there are some key differences between the terrains:

      A. North Vietnam

      The North Vietnam terrain includes all the target areas that you are familiar with in the stock SF2V terrain. This terrain is designed primarily for Strike missions and the several mission types that support Strikes: Escort, Fighter Sweep (aka MiG CAP or MiG Sweep), and SEAD (Air Defense Suppression) -- in other words, the core mission types for the several air campaigns conducted against North Vietnam. You can also fly Armed Recon and Anti-Ship missions.

      B. South Vietnam

      The South Vietnam terrain includes new target areas and target items in South Vietnam, eastern Laos, eastern Cambodia, and the DMZ area. It also includes target areas in North Vietnam up through Route Pack II -- roughly speaking, the Vinh area. This terrain is primarily designed for CAS, Armed Recon, and Anti-Ship missions, though you can also fly Strike and SEAD missions in the lower Route Packs. If you are unfamiliar with the Route Package system used during the air war in Vietnam, see these discussions:

      http://www.airbattle.co.uk/d_history.html
      http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/factsheets/factsheet.asp?id=1394

      Put simply, where the focus in the North terrain is air operations against North Vietnam, the focus in the South terrain is air operations in support of the ground war against the NLF (Viet Cong, or VC) and PAVN (North Vietnamese Army, or NVA) units.

      Here's another way to think of the differences between the two terrains when you're flying Single Missions:

      1. If you want to fly Strike missions against the big targets in North Vietnam, select the North Vietnam terrain in the Single Mission screen.

      2. If you want to tangle with MiGs as part of Escort or Sweep missions, select the North Vietnam terrain.

      3. If you want to do battle against North Vietnam's formidable air defense network, fly Air Defense Suppression missions with the North Vietnam terrain.

      4. If you want to fly CAS missions, choose the South Vietnam terrain. You will be tasked with supporting friendly forces throughout South Vietnam right up to the DMZ area.

      5. If you want to fly Armed Recon missions, you can go with either the North or South terrain. With the North terrain, you get armed recon missions along the Northeast and Northwest rail lines down through the lower Route Packs as well as the northern third of the Ho Chi Minh Trail in eastern Laos. The South terrain will give you armed recon missions in the lower Route Packs and the complete length of the Ho Chi Minh Trail from the Mu Gia Pass in the north all the way down through southeast Laos and northeast Cambodia.

      6. Anti-Ship missions are similar: you can fly them in both terrains. Northern shipping routes extend from Haiphong down to Dong Hoi; Southern shipping routes extend from Dong Hoi in North Vietnam down to the Go Cong area near the Mekong Delta in South Vietnam.

      Also, for historical accuracy, we have also imposed limits on the MiG bases that are operational and available to host VPAF squadrons.

      Early on in Operation Rolling Thunder, MiGs operated from a small handful of bases: Noi Bai, Kep, Gia Lam, Bac Mai, and Hoa Loc, though other airfields in the Haiphong area and the northwest existed. After the end of Rolling Thunder the North Vietnamese began building or renovating other airfields, including those in the southern panhandle of the country. These included: Ben Loi, Bai Thuong, Dong Hoi, Dong Suong, Khe Phat, Quang To, Quon Lang, Vinh.

      Both terrains impose start dates on this list of airfields that became operational only after Rolling Thunder. Until the start date for each airfield, the runways will not appear. All the other buildings in those target areas, however, will appear, being labeled "barracks areas."

      -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      8. Environment Notes

      For this expansion pack we have implemented several well known terrain and environment mods:

      - Brain32's SEA Tile Repaint
      - CA_Stary's Green Hell 2
      - Better WideSky (based on Cellinsky's original WideSky)

      Given that players may have different needs and preferences, depending on their systems and aesthetic inclinations, we have have included a number of files that can be used to tweak the look and performance of these mods.

      A. Terrains - Trees

      You will notice several sub-directories in each of the main terrain directories in your SF2V Mod Folder. These contain alternate files that can be used to control the size and complexity of the trees used in the terrains.

      Tree Complexity/Detail

      The three "Detail" folders contain files to control the complexity and detail level of the trees. From the ReadMe for "Green Hell 2":

      Now you'll notice three folders: High Detail, Medium detail and Low Detail. These
      contain, well, three versions of the mod. Level of detail corresponds to "tree cluster"
      mesh complexity, NOT the number of trees!

      - High detail are the "X-type with base" and "X-type" trees, which look
      best from high angles,
      - Medium detail are the "X-type" trees, more cartoonish from top view
      - Low detail are the "fence-type" trees, less buildings in cities

      Generally try the Medium first, if you have low framerates, try Low, if you have decent
      system go ahead and try High, there isn't much difference between high and medium in
      performance hit. And read the section 5 about tips to control draw distance!

      By default both terrains use "High Detail." To switch to a lower level of detail, simply copy of the files from the appropriate "Detail" sub-directory to the main terrain directory that you wish to modify, overwriting as prompted.

      Tree Size

      By default both terrains use the standard "Green Hell 2" trees. Some users may prefer to use Bananimal's "Re-scaled Trees for Green Hell 2," which are smaller and more realistically sized than the original, larger trees, however.

      You can find copies of both tree sets (large and small) in the last two sub-directories in each terrain. Again, to install, simply copy the files from the appropriate sub-directory to the main terrain directory that you wish to change, overwriting as prompted.

      B. Terrains - Air Bases

      We were dissatisfied with the default air base tiles used by SF2V -- those neat, nicely mown squares of green -- not only because they stood out like sore thumbs on the terrain, but also because they took up so much real estate (a precious commodity around Hanoi, which is surround by five air bases). So we developed alternate air base tiles by tweaking several of the default tiles from Brain32 and CA_Stary. These tiles are installed by default with the Expansion Pack.

      Although we think the new air base tiles look much better (and more realistic), we understand that some users may prefer the original air base tiles from Brain32 and CA_Stary. If you would like to restore the "old" air base tiles, copy the two .BMP files from the \ABs_Old sub-directory in each terrain folder to the main terrain folder for North and South Vietnam, overwriting as prompted. To restore the "new" air base tiles, simply copy the .BMP files from the \ABs_New sub-directory in each terrain to the main terrain folder.

      C. Environment - Sun & Stars

      Cellinsky's original "WideSky" included several files to cange the appearance of the sun and stars, especially at sunset. By default, this expansion pack uses the original ThirdWire sun images and Cellinsky's stars.

      If you wish to change to Cellinsky's sun images, you can find them in the \Widesky sub-directory in the \Flight directory of your SF2V Mod Folder. Simply copy the four "Sun" TGAs from the \Widesky sub-directory to the main \Flight directory. To revert to the original ThirdWire sun and star images, remove the "Sun" and "Star" TGAs from the \Flight directory.

      D. Alternate Terrain Tiles

      By default this Expansion Pack installs Pappa Goat's re-painted versions of the Brain32/Green Hell 2 tiles.

      -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      9. Colors of AAA/Flak Tracers

      This mod package makes changes to the colors of tracers used with AAA/flak guns. As the new default colors may not suit some players, the table below can be used to adjust the colored tracers to personal preferences:

      Gun TGA File Color
      --- -------- -----
      12MM_DSHK tracer6.tga orange
      14MM_KPV tracer6.tga orange
      23MM_ZU23/T tracer2.tga green
      23MM_AZP23 tracer2.tga green
      37MM_ZP39T tracer4.tga red (solid)
      57MM_S68T tracer7.tga purple (solid)
      n/a tracer.tga orange/yellow
      n/a tracer3.tga yellow
      n/a tracer5.tga green (solid)
      n/a tracer6.tga orange/red

      The easiest way to adjust the color of tracers for AAA/flak guns is to modify the tracer TGAs in the \Objects directory of your SF2V Mod Folder (as opposed to editing the guns themselves). To change the color of particular tracer, simply rename the existing TGA file to something else, then copy the tracer TGA for the color you want and rename the copy to match the original name of the tracer TGA that you renamed.

      For example, if you wanted to change the color of the purple tracer used with the 57MM_S68T gun to red, you would:

      1. Rename TRACER7.TGA to TRACER7-OLD.TGA

      2. Make a copy of TRACER4.TGA

      3. Rename the copy of TRACER4.TGA to TRACER7.TGA

      It's that simple. Note that in some cases two guns use the same tracer TGA, so changing the tracer color using the method outlined above will affect both guns that use that TGA.

      -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      10. Legal Stuff

      We have signed onto the freeware "list" on combatace.com. As such, the work here can be included or used in other mods as along as they aren't payware and credit is given to the creator(s).

      12. A Note on the KC-135A Tanker

      Dave at CombatAce.com has generously allowed us to include bpao's KC-135A Stratotanker, which originally appeared in the NATO Fighters 4+ mod package for SF2. Bpao was the heart of The Mirage Factory, and we are very fortunate to have been given permission to ship this high quality aircraft as part of the Expansion Pack. Needless to say, bpao's KC-135A may not be re-distributed outside of NF4+ or the SF2V/WOV Expansion Pack without Dave's explicit permission. The NF4+ all-inclusive mod for SF2V may be downloaded at CombatAce:

      I. History (fiction)
      What if the USA would never had sold planes and tanks to Israel? What if only french made planes and british made tanks would be used by the Israeli Defence Force (ZAHAL)?
      Would Israel survive the arab surprise attack?
      Its your turn to find it out!

    10. Training Missions

      Training missions

      Just a trifle ...
      Simple landing missions - one for landing practice on a carrier, the other for landing on AB.

      To install, unzip the zip file and copy the uncompressed  .MSN files to the "Mission" folder in SF2 NA or, after editing, to any Strike Fighter2 saved mode.

      In the game settings, editor, loading or in mission files (.MSN) it is possible to change practically all parameters as needed.

      Maybe they will come in handy ...

    11. SF2E/NF5 Italian Campaign AddOn

      This is a tribute to Aeronautica Militare Italiana (A.M.) and Italy, as member of NATO since its foundation.
      I simply added Italian Air Force F-104S and Tornado to two “Nato Fighters 5” mod campaigns (“Red Lightning” set in 1979 and “Red Storm Raising, Phase 2” set in 1986).

      Installation
      ——————————————————————————————

      F-104S CI and CB Campaign (Red Lightning):
      Simply drop the “campaigne2_DATA.INI” and “campaigne2.ini” in the “/Campaigns/campaigne2” folder, in the SF2E/NF5 modded folder (usually located in C:\Users\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Europe NF5 - or whatever you called it) and overwrite as prompted (Backup the original files, first).

      Tornado Campaign (Red Storm Raising, Phase 2):
      Simply drop the “campaigne5rsr_DATA.INI” and “campaigne5rsr.ini” in the “/Campaigns/campaigne5rsr” folder, in the SF2E/NF5 modded folder (usually located in C:\Users\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Europe NF5 - or whatever you called it) and overwrite as prompted (Backup the original files, first).

      You MUST have the Spillone104’s “F-104S pack for SF2” and the X RAY’s “SF-2E/NF-4+ Tornado A.M.I.”:

      F-104: http://combatace.com/files/file/12632-f-104s-pack-for-sf2/
      and the F-104 Quick Fix: http://combatace.com/files/file/12635-f-104s-quick-fix/

      Tornado: http://combatace.com/files/file/10374-sf-2enf-4-tornado-ami/

      Tested in a SF2 full merged install (SF2, SF2V, SF2E, SF2I, SF2NA, Exp. Pack 1, Exp. Pack 2) with “Nato Fighters 5” mod, by eburger68: http://combatace.com/topic/74754-nato-fighters-5-part-1-of-8/

      Credits
      ——————————————————————————————

      Thanks to:
      - Spillone104 for the beautiful F-104 Pack;
      - X RAY for the Tornado Pack;
      - MigBuster for his useful tutorial: http://combatace.com/topic/44798-adding-aircraft-to-campaigns-in-sf2/
      - eburger68 and all the people who spent blood, sweat and tears working on the amazing “Nato Fighters 5” mod;

      I hope you enjoy

    12. Beat the Clock! Anti-Runway Strike vs. Scramble

      It's May 1977 and Israeli Forces are flying in support of Dhimar. You are commanding CRAB flight, a two-ship element tasked with destroying Parani airfield P11 but beware! A two-ship flight of Parani MiG-21PFM's from P12 are already in the air and a four-ship flight of Parani Mig-21bis are desperately trying to scramble from the very same P11 airfield whose runway you are trying to bomb!
      It's a race against time. Will you get there before the MiG's get airborne?
      Simply add this game generated mission to your Missions folder. A quad-merged install is required.
      [MissionHeader]
      AircraftType=KfirC2
      MissionMap=DESERT
      MissionType=STRIKE
      StartTime=12:19:44
      StartDate=05/14/1977
      The game generated this mission and I just love those missions when MiG's are trying to get off the ground just as you get there so I saved it. i hope it works for you.

      Operation_Salazar:

      From 1966 onward, the pro-independence guerrilla movement MPLA expend their previously-limited insurgency operations to the East of Angola.
      The UNITA, a smaller pro-independence guerrilla organisation established in the East, support the MPLA.
      The FAP start counter-insurgency military campaign, called Operation Salazar, to expel the guerrilla movements operating in the East to beyond the frontiers of Angola.
      The Government of South Afrika supports the efforts of the FAP.

      PLEASE BE AWARE: This release of Operation_Salazar is unpolished and is to be considered a Beta version. In short, there will be bugs and not all of them have been found.

    17. SF2_Norway_1986_v2.0

      (Excerpt from README file)
      This mission pack is designed to coincide with / complement Eburger68’s North Cape campaign. It is essentially the same scenario as the ‘Fighting Withdrawal’ campaign, told a slightly different way, with a twist and a new pack of single player missions designed to have some ‘story continuity’ to them.
      Part I is an eight-mission pack in which you are assigned to VF-84 as an F-14A (82) pilot in Carrier Air Wing EIGHT, in September of 1986. When the war begins and the Nimitz battle group begins its fighting withdrawal, you are going to have your hands full fighting off hordes of Soviet bombers and aiding your Norwegian allies every way you can.
       Part II is a ten-mission pack in which you are assigned to VA-86 as an A-7E pilot in Carrier Air Wing EIGHT. When the war begins and the Nimitz battle group begins its fighting withdrawal, the two A-7E squadrons are detached temporarily to land bases in Norway to press the fight against the Soviet invaders in the north. Two of the missions are transits, with eight combat missions in between.
      Disclaimer: the weather in these missions isn't nearly as good as in the screenshots. ;)

      Excerpt from README File:
      Setting
      In this ten-mission pack, you are assigned to VA-86 as an A-7E pilot in Carrier Air Wing EIGHT, in September of 1986. When WWIII begins and the Nimitz battle group begins its fighting withdrawal from Norwegian waters, the two A-7E squadrons are detached temporarily to land bases in Norway to press the fight against the Soviet invaders in the north.
      This mission set is designed to coincide with / complement Eburger86’s North Cape campaign. It is essentially the same scenario as the ‘Fighting Withdrawal’ campaign, told a slightly different way, with a twist and a new pack of single player missions designed to have some ‘story continuity’ to them.
      Requires Eburger86's North Cape user made campaign mod.
      This is actually Part II of a two part release. Like the SW movies, they are being made out of order. :p

      ********************************
      This mod includes three TopGun campaigns for the following years:
      1970, 1974, and 1978.
      - 1970: F-4B & F-4J vs. A-4E Super Echo
      - 1974: F-4J & F-4N vs. A-4E Super Echo
      - 1978: F-14A vs. A-4F Mongoose
      Read the README.
      This is based off of Dave's (USAFMTL) original TopGun campaign from
      2003.
      This is for a flight/air combat simulation. SF2 is not a simulation
      for simulated air combat.  So this was made as best I could, within
      the limits of the game.
      Primary goal: make it through the 20 missions alive, keep as many
      of your wingman alive as possible, down as many A-4's as possible.

    22. The Scandinavian Front 2: Final Release

      PLEASE BE AWARE; This release of TSF 2 is unpolished and is to be considered a Beta version. In short, there will be bugs and not all of them have been found. Unless things change significantly, there will not be more releases.
      Please read the letter below to understand why.

      If you just want the SK 60 or the Saab 37 Viggen - look in the Aircraft section. If not posted there, they will be posted there shortly.

      A letter from the Project Leader:
      My name is Jonathan and I am the project leader of The Scandinavian Front. I want to apologize that I will not be living up to the vision I had for The Scandinavian Front. The reason for this is because between my new full time job and all my other projects, TSF 2 fell by the wayside. This is not fair to TSF nor is it fair to you.

      This is to be considered a Beta release. It has bugs. The Campaigns have not been fully balanced. But it is a playground that you can play around with - just like always. But this will be the Final Release of TSF 2. I sat down one too many times trying to make it perfect and I will have to accept that TSF 2 may never be. Maybe some day I will sit down and release a patch to bring it up to speed. But today is not that day.

      I want to thank all the fans of TSF 2 for their support during this time. It has been invaluble. I also want to thank AngelP, Stary, Ravenclaw and my mate Paulopanz who have been there for me to make this mod what it is today. Without them, I could never have made this dream. Do not blame them for the unpolished state of this release, they gave me their all and I am very grateful.

      FEATURES

      Fly and fight with Aircraft from the Scandinavian Air Forces, including the legendary Saab lineup of aircraft in combat against the Soviet Union in multiple scenarios from 1950 to 2014.

      Campaigns include several intensive conflicts, training missions and a virtual museum allowing you to follow a Swedish Flottilj for most of its history!

      Now at last - Saab SK60 and Saab 37 Viggen are avalible to fly in TSF 2 alongside - for the first time - Soviet Aircraft in service of the fictionalFinno-Soviet Republic!

      More AI Aircraft to fly with or against!

      Updated Terrain Tiles, Weapons and Menu Screens.

      Optimized code; unused and outdated assets removed.

      Installation:
      This mod requires SF2: Europe.
      SF2 North Atlantic, Expansion Pack 1 and DLC 008 J 34 Hawker Hunter is highly recommended.
      Please be aware that without SF2 North Atlantic, at least two Campaigns will be unavalible.
      First of all, make sure you are using SF2: Europe and that it is patched to the latest version. This is _vital_.
      Check Thirdwire.com if you are unsure what the latest patch is, but the game should notify you if there is new patches out.
      Delete ANY PRIOR TSF MOD INSTALLATION! This is vital as items has been renamed, moved or otherwise changed.
      If you are using a mod, or plan to use one, TSF will mess around with settings other mods may be using. As such, creating a seperate mod folder for TSF is a good idea. If you only plan to use TSF, then this step can be bypassed.
      Go to your installation folder (Usually C:\Program Files\Thirdwire\Strike Fighters 2). Make a copy of Strike Fighters 2.exe / Strike Fighters 2 Europe.exe depending on what you prefer and got installed. Name the Copy Strike Fighters 2 TSF.exe . Start your new .exe once, then close the game.
      Now go to your Mod Folders. For Windows 7/Vista, this is located in C:\Users\Name\Saved Games\Thirdwire. For Windows XP Users, it is usually in My Documents.

      Download ALL THE FILES into THE SAME FOLDER and Unzip TSF2_Final from TSF2_FinalPack.7z.001. You need 7z or Winrar to do this.

      Unzip the contents of the 7zip files "TSF2_Final" into the mod folder of your choice.
      If you do not own Strike Fighters 2: North Atlantic, then unzip "Unzip if you do not have SF NA.7z". Read the Readme included and follow it to the letter.
      If you own Strike Figthers 2 Expansion Pack 1, unzip "Install if you do not have SF NA.7z". Allow any overwrites.
      If you own DLC 008 J 34 Hawker Hunter, unzip "Install if you have DLC 008 J 34 Hawker Hunter.7z". Allow any overwrites.
      If you own DLC 028, unzip "Install_if_you_have_DLC28.7z". Allow any overwrites.
      (Please read the included Credits file. I could not do what I do without the lovely people who helped me by allowing me to use their work!)

    24. RJAF No.1 Sqn Hunter 6 Six Days War

      Campaign RJAF No.1 Sqn Six Days war(Hunter 6)
      For Wings over Israel.
      This campaign with 11 missions for the RJAF No.1 Sqn with Hunter 6 cover the periode from Jun 5 to Jun 10, 1967.
      Historical accurate with the main units, number of aircrafts and RJAF deployment by Jun 5, 1967.
      Added to the campaign and included textures for IrAF No.17 MiG-21FL, No.10 Sqn detachment with Tu-16 and SyAAF No.19 Sqn IL-28s.
      Revised ground forces and add AMX-13,  Su-100,  BTR-50PK,  M16Quad,  M113,  PZKW-IVA,  37InchAA, and two Bofors type AAA.
      RJAF and Hunter 6
      The RJAF introduced the Hunter 6 in service in Nov 1958.
      With the 11 jets delivered arrived also a group of British instructors led by Wg Cdr Bennet, RAF, to support the RJAF through the process of introducting this type into service.
      Introduction process faced a number of problems, resulting in heavy attrition of the Hunter fleet and even pilot losses. Lt Marwan Jamil Zakaria was killed in the crash of a Junter F.6 on Oct 7, 1959,  and another Hunter was lost in a crash on Jul 1, 1960, although its pilot ejected safely. Only two months later, on Sep 10, 1960, Lt Ali Saleem al-Omari was killed in another crash.
      This series of incidents prompted the RJAF to order three newly builded Hunter T.66B for almost immediately delivery, in order to ease the process of converting its young pilots to the type.
      The same year were acquired two Hunters equipped for reconnaissance purposes, two ex-RAF FR.10s.
      In 1961, following acquisition of MiGs by Iraq, King Hussein decided to replace the Vampires flown by No.2 Sqn and ordered another batch of 12 ex RAF F.6s.
      Deliveries of these aircrafts began in April 1962, and resulted in the retirement of Jordan remaning Vampires on Apr 17, 1962.
      In November 1962, the RJAF lost six pilots for defection to Egypt.. Same month, RJAF Hunters were re-deployed to Arabia Saudita for 10 days.
      By 1963, the RJAF had 20 Hawker Hunter F.6 on strenght, two FR.10 reconnaissance type and three training type T.66B. No.2 Sqn was disbanded, its personnal and equipment being amalgamated into No.1 Sqn.
      During the same year was created a display team, named Hashemite Diamond.
      Two Hunters were lost in separate accidents in 1964-1965, including T.66B with serial number 714 written off in a crash that killed both of its pilots, on Aug 15, 1965. This same year, the former F.6s of No.2 Sqn were returned to the UK for conversion to FGA.9 standard and designated FGA.73.
      By May 1967, work of eight Hunters was complete and six of the aircraft returned to Jordan.
      At the eve of the Six Days War, Jun 5, 1967, RJAF No.1 Sqn had only 21 Hunters on hand, with 18 combat ready. The unit was based at Mafraq AB, with 14 pilots and his mission was interception and close support duties
      The units was also in reorganisation for conversion in F-104 Starfighter and most of the pilots were in USA and only 14 pilots were availables.
      Two Pakistanies instructors were added to the roster of pilots.
      No.1 Squadron RJAF was among the first Jordanian military units to be alerted for action, at 05.00 local time on the morning of Jun 5, 1967, and its pilots expected to take off as soon as the new came that the war had started.
      Maj Firas Ajlouni, CO No.1 Squadron, gathered his pilots for a briefing, instruction seven of them to prepare for air defense sorties, while he was to lead the others into an attack on Israeli airfields.
      RJAF Hunters were launched between 11.50 and 11.55 to strike“Netanya Air Base“ a small airfield east of Haifa used by civilians only. The three Hunters formation dont finded the target and after Israeli reports attack with HSI rockets ABIC Pharmaceutics factory. On the way back towards Mafraq AB their formations was nearly intercepted by a pair of Mirages from No.117 Squadrons, scrambled from Ramat David and vectored to intercept Iraqi Hunters.
      The GCI give a vector to intercept the three RJAF Hunters and near Ramleh the Mirages sighted the Jordanians. However, the only Shafrir 1 missile the Israelis managed to fire missed its low-flying target, and the pilots were then vectored to intercept another target. The three RJAF Hunters returned to Mafraq undisturbed.
      Other RJAF four Hunters patrol near the border was not so lucky. Four IDF/AF Mirages of the No.117 Sqn sighted the Jordanians and went to intercept. No.1 Sqn Hunters dive to the ground and take the heading to Mafraq, but
      Capt Wasfi Ammari was pursued by O.Sagee flying Mirage IIICJ No.44.  Sagee launched a Shafrir 1 but this one dropped downwards, below the enemy engine; he switch to cannon and at 200m shot down the Hunter after crossing the Jordan river. Wasfi Ammari ejected, was wounded and recovered.
      At 13.48 hours(Jordanian time)four Super Mystere B2 from No.109 Sqn destroyed the main Jordan radar at Ajloun. The alert was gived at Amman but was too late.
      One of the two Pakistani instructors took off from Mafraq AB with a Jordanian pilot, Lt Ishan Chourdom, for interception of No.109th Sqn Super Mysteres and one minute later, Mafraq was under attack by eight Mystere IVA of the 116th Sqn.
      Two Hunters in preparation for take off were quickly engaged. Both fighters were destroyed at ground and one pilot, Maj Firass al-Journi was KIA. The Israelians damaged the runway and claims the destruction of three Hunters on the ground.
      One Mystere IVA was damaged by AAA.
      The Pakistani instructors, Lt Saif-oul-Azam , engaged a formation of four Mystere and hit the No.4. The Mystere loss sobre debris and Azam engaged then two other Mystere. A 200m a burst of his cannon hit one of the Mystere and the Israelian fighter start to descend. Azam was credited with one victory. IDF/AF admitted the loss of Mystere IVA No.94 of the 116th Sqn, flown by Lt. H.Bola(KIA).
      The Israelians claims 24 Hawker Hunter destroyed on the ground at Mafraq AB, but actually were destroyed or badly damaged 13 Jordanian fighters.
      Azam and Chourdom returned to Mafraq AB but with the rwy damaged, were forced to divert and land at Amman AB.
      At 14.00 hours Mafraq was again attacked, this time by four Ouragans of No.113th Sqn. They encountered no opposition other than AAA fire and flew three attack patterns to claim the destruction of two Hunters on the ground.
      Two Ouragan were damaged by the AAA and the No.4, failed to respond to calls from other formation members and enter striaght into the “no-fly zone“ over the Dimona complex. He was finally shot down by one Israelian missile Hawk when his fly too near of Dimona nuclear plant.
      At 14.07 Mafraq receive a third strike by the Mystere IVA of 116th Sqn . The base was again attacked by Ouragans at 14.22 and 14.30 and eight Vampire and at least two helicopters were destroyed.
      One Ouragan was hit by AAA and his pilot ejected safely over the Mediterranean Sea.
      At 14.39 Amman AB was attacked by four Mirages from No.119 Sqn. The Mirages first bombed the runway then returned to strafe aircrafts on ground,  destroying the last Hunters,  the UN C-47, one RJAF Westland Widgeon,  the DH Dove of the British Attaché and one Beech Bonanza. One RJAF DH Dove was also damaged.
      Four Hunters(including Azam and Chourdom fighters)were destroyed at the ground and the runway was damaged.
      By the end of the journey, 17 of the 21 RJAF Hawker Hunters were destroyed. Only four, but damaged, survived the Israelian attacks. Two pilots were KIA.
      Without fighters to fly, Lt Saif-oul-Azam and Lt Ishan Chourdom quit Jordan and travel by ground to Habbaniya AB in Iraq arriving there in the last hours of Jun 6, 1967.
      Tired after so a long travel, were again combat ready by 04.00 hours and were instructed to prepare a cover protection mission for H-3 Al-Walid.
      Four Hunters 59 took-off from Habbaniya(formation included also IrAF pilots Lt Samir Yousif Zainal and Galeb al-Hamid al-Qaysi)and in route were vectored to intercept the 3th IDF/AF strike underway to attack H-3 Al-Wallid.
      (The Israelian make the mistake of use the same path used in his failed 2th attack and were easily spotted by observers deployed in the desert).
      If the 2th strike againt H-3 Al-walid was a failure for the IDF/AF, the third was a disaster.
      The IDF/AF formation was composed with 4 Vautour of the No.110th Sqn with the escort of 4 Mirage IIICJ of the 117th Sqn. The Mirage were armed with bombs to destroy H-3 rwy.
      At 11.30 the Israelian began the attack on H-3 but were intercepted some two minutes later by the IrAF Hunters. One Hunter was shot down by Capt G.Dror in Mirage IIICJ No.60(pilot Galeb al-Hamid al-Qaysi was KIA).
      But Dror had not time to celebrate his victory, some second after his Mirage was hit by the 30mm rounds of Saif-oul-Azam and was forced to eject and became POW.
      After shot down Dror, Saif-oul-Azam, manouevre, evaded a burst of Ezra Dothan and hit the Vautour fly by Cne Glant-Golan. He eject also to became POW. That was Azam´s 3th victory in the Six Days War.
      Near at the same time, Azam´s No.3, Lt Zainal, evaded another burst of Ezra Dothan and hit another Vautour. The Jet start to smoke and the two crew eject but the Vautour exploded flamming the two parachutes.
      By this moment the CO of the IDF/AF Somech ordered to disengaged but Zainal continued his attack and went behind the two last two Vautours. He hit again another and the jet start to smoke and finally was forced to broke the contact  over Jordania, short of fuel and land at H-3. Azam and Chourdom succeded in return with the last drops of fuel to Habbaniya AB. Zainal, after refuelling at H-3, returned to Habbaniya one hour after.
      In the returning flight the surviving Israelians were taked in chase by two SyAAF MiG-21FL of No.67 Sqn. The Syrians launched four R-3S but only one find the target and hit the Mirage flown by Maj E.Dothan(No.29).
      Dothan succeded in return and safely land his damaged Mirage at Megido AB.
