2 pointsthis week on StrikeTankers2, obscure units lost to history (or at least the 70s) just moved to Beale AFB after a long stint at Wright Patterson is the 17th Bomb Wing and out of Kinchloe AFB we have the 449th Bomb Wing two last minute additions to SAC decals for the 70s. nice thing is i could just add them and the 301st BW at the tag end of the 80s decals rather than copying a folder to the tune of a few hundred more tga in the pack

2 pointsI'm going to resume this thread with some recent test shots over gterl's revision of Gepard's Vosges map. In regard to the SF fanboyz who posted earlier, I point out two things: 1) It is a FACT that FE objects are 63% of actual size because TK designed the sim that way. Gterl - a superb FE map maker - and I have discussed this. He uses whatever objects he can find, and laments that many of them are NOT the required 63%. 2) True professionals don't ignore facts. Interpret them, yes. Ignore them, no.

1 pointView File Lebed 7 The Lebed 7 was a Russian copy of the British Sopwith Tabloid. It was produced in 1915 and was intended to be used as a fighter. But with an 80hp Gnome engine and wing warping controls, it was quickly outclassed and was used primarily for recon and later for training. The Lebed 7 was shipped from the factory unarmed. The British plane had a machine gun mounted on the upper wing, so it isn't unreasonable to think that a Russian pilot might have tried mounting a gun on his plane. I have made a (possibly fictitious) version of the plane with a Lewis gun mounted on the top wing. My Lebed 7 has a fully functional cockpit, three skins - a grey paint and two clear doped linen, and a full set of number decals. My skinning templates are included. The plane comes with a helmeted Russian pilot; instructions for installing the pilot are included. Or you can change the data.ini to use one of the stock FE pilots. Many years ago Nixou recorded a a large number of sounds for First Eagles. I have included the sound file for the 80 hp Gnome Monosoupape engine, but you may already have it. Credits Thanks to Ojcar for making the data file for the Lebed 7. Thanks to Nixou for making the sound file for the Gnome 80 hp engine. Installation Instructions For FE1 - Unzip the file. Move the folder named "Lebed7" into your FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. For FE2 - Unzip the file. Move the folder named "Lebed7" into your FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. Then in the FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, create a new folder named "Lebed7". Move the folder named "D" from your Aircraft/Lebed7 folder into the Decals/Lebed7 folder you just made. In case you don't already have it, I have included the sound file for the 80 hp Gnome engine. Move the file named "gnome80m4.wav" from my Sounds folder into your Sounds folder. You may not need to install the pilot with helmet, it has been available for download for some time and has been included with other planes. In case you don't already have it, I have included the pilot and instructions for installing it in a separate folder included in this download. 1 pointI've been reading some postings on the forum where people were searching for a Strike Fighter editing document that was written some time back but the website for it has become unreachable. So here is that document for those who need it : ) StrikeFightersEditingInfo.doc

1 pointYeah I know. Happened to me once and I promised myself, that it won't happen again... and here it is! At least I created all necessary decals for the "remake". Now comes the more difficult part: finding the accurate positions

1 pointInspired by Geary's great Sea Falcon skin available here at Combatace, I decided to create my own version (hope you don't mind, Geary ) Mitsubishi F-2N Sea Viper, VF-103 "Jolly Rogers", May 2000 I know that the starbar normally is placed at the nose of the plane, but in this case the nose was too overloaded with decals, so I placed where the USAF wears it... (please don't hurt )

1 pointVery nice Beach, been a while since I did that the F-100 is a bit of a challenge. The Hunter (to Fmk4) is a bit like a MiG-17 in turn ability, whereas the Fmk6 is like the MiG-17F despite no afterburner still has a comparable T/W (on paper) so is no slouch. Against Ace AI your best bet is keeping speed and going vertical.....................................I don't recommend doing so again a MiG-19S however............ bad idea there are smarter ways.

1 pointFor those enjoying the new fire and smoke effects with the ver. 9.5 FM update pack, you will notice that sometimes balloon explosions give no smoke or fire, sometimes a small trail of smoke, fire, etc., and sometimes a bigger fiery explosion (as historical...balloons would sometimes not even light up when punctured and destroyed, although not frequently). If you prefer the larger, more consistent explosions for balloon fire of previous FM version packs, they can be found in the large, consolidated ver. 8.9 folder - but I am also including them below for convenience. Happy flying, Von S

1 pointquestion 1: could some of those either consolidated into one or been put on the skin? statement two: its your world, put it where you like. observation 3: make the 000 and 001 Modexs (nose numbers) colorful, they are usually the CAG and squadron commander birds and the ones that are fancy. do the rest subdued.if you make the squadron markings level 2 decals, and have the main unnumbered decal subdued, then you only have to make two more that are colorful (same with insignia) otherwise very nice!

1 pointVonS' latest release includes revisions to the FLIGHT folder that further enhance immersion. If this interests you, an additional mod will improve appearance even more. Stary's HDR shader tweak, for DX10 or higher, will add shaders that deepen the colors a bit making them appear a little more realistic. Its subtle, but noticeable if you look for it. HDR Mod 1.01A.7z
