my friend...... you dont remember 2012-2013 in TW land TK would release patches. lets say at noon on a monday by 8pm, CA would be full o posts breaking down whats in the new patch and singing songs of praise. by 8am the next morning those songs of praise would turn to screams of anguish as somebody discovered that this mod was porked. or that feature disappeared. or something that was ridicously hard was now ridicously easy. and so on my recurring joke is funny because its true. we've seen us do it...........

Really like the RealSky mod ,give us an excellent screenshot background. This bird is almost ready,as the J-20.It's just that there are still a few little problems bugging me, I think they'll be released at the same time once everthing done.

If you read through the old TW forums archive you can see the pattern of the patch release, from the first few hours of elation from new features and "fixes" then like DA said it was all doom and despair soon after. I think TK's biggest regret was ever making the game with the intention of allowing the end user to "customise" it. He as a game developer already should have known that what ever you give the customer it would never be enough, the more folks you get screwing with stuff the more they'll want and the more they'll break.

Honestly. What are you expecting? If it was me creating a game and then a bunch of players started to mess with it, trying to change everything that I achieved, trying to work around things that were not supposed to work, building new models where the polycount of one model is bigger than the whole objects pool from the original game. Building new terrains and fancy campaigns that bring too much to the game... hell screw players then. He made a game and you are screwing with it...instead playing.

What a funny and lively party you have! And I was late for it. And I want to ask TW to just give us the game engine tools and compiler, and we will do everything ourselves. The game will obviously never be updated, and it would be possible to simply give it to us as a gift, to the players. This ask is to nowhere, sure.

well hits a recurring joke of mine: the day TK actually updates SF2 again, everyone will cheer that evening. then complain the next morning about how their mods are broken
  9. 4 points
Exactly right, at least in SF2 we can have almost all aircraft assets spanning centuries, it's just that they can't all do professional simulations

or, as with even SF2 let alone a 3.... a huge modding community that has created the largest catalog of player flyable aircraft and skins for said aircraft of any Win7 through 11 flight sim. i mean seriously, theres over 2000 aircraft mods, over 100 terrain mods and over 1400 aircraft skin mods. and looking at teh history from Gen 1 to Gen 2, a Gen 3 would get alot of stuff ported over, and alot of new stuff you want super high fidelity on a few things, Eagle Dynamics is great. if you want wide variety on damn near everything, talk to the fan community for Thirdwire

One thing, which i had forgotten, when i released Battle of Britain 2 Operation Sealion terrain some years ago, was to make correct TOD files for some farm tiles. That caused trees and buildings at the wrong position. Now i made new TOD files for that farm files and it looks better now. I think i should release a small patch for BoB2 terrain.

Me-109E-8. I dont know why it is called Bf-109 today. During wartime the pilots called it always "Me-109", never Bf-109.

not saying your wrong there.... if were me, would put a statement in the EULA that im not responsible for any effects my release has on any third party content. screenshot and post as the reply anytime someone complained. hell, that statement might be in there. only reason anyone might read the EULA is to dispute a post like this

Hello. I'm a game developer and aviation lover. I loved Strike Fighters from the first day I saw it. I would like to know how to make models of aircraft and terrain for campaigns. I have several model ideas and I wish I could make them to share with you. It's also the least I can do for you to allow you to download models and enjoy hours of fun in this realistic simulator. Also, it will help me to develop techniques to make simulators. Thanks.

Exactly. With Arma 3 you can do a lot with the game code and make a plethora of mods, just by looking at it and figuring out what to do. I can say that the devs are more friendly though, and of course encourage a lot of modders to make stuff for the game. Of course, you get those who come up with some bizarre requests and you're stuck with "I can't do that because the game simply won't allow it."

Douglas A-24 Banshee - 9 Squadron, Royal Dhimari Air Force, 1941 Skin Credit: Charles Wow! I've just read that USAAF A-24's survived long enough to be transferred over to the USAF in 1947 who abandoned the 'A' for Attack designation so they became F-24 Banshees!

Those are the actual pivot point locations, these only visible when you work on the model in blender. We link the meshes to each other (parent/child), and animate the required meshes (strouts, airbrakes, canopy, etc), - not rigging like for a movie or such - and we place the pivots of the mesh to the rotation point we want/need. Or I misunderstood something.

If you look at the Mirage4000 pits there is a simple variant of that kind of displaying, could show the basics. I got more sophisticated ones also, but those aren't released yet with their birds. There are various ways to show things and also depend on the weapon stations too, if they have single or multiple munition type load abilities.

In the meantime...Some more flight tests going on... Same FM problem with the J-20, after passing about Mach 1 the birds will automatically raise their heads...Need more adjustments... And still, the cockpit thing in the past 2 weeks I still could not make those...WEAPON_QUANTITY , WEAPON_STATION_SELECTOR or Weapon_Type_ID thins to work,I would have liked them to at least display my loaded weapons correctly in SMS,but... I still need more time to seek reference and learn more.

In Blender you select the mesh on the right side in the sceene tree, and in the upper bar would show up the different counts, tris, faces, etc. (marked them with blue on the pic)
  38. 1 point
There are limitations for sure that will cause issues and to a degree I would go with depend on the shape. I have mesh that has only 2.1k faces and had issue with its shadow showing up properly or at all. Also the TW exporter has issue with meshes over 5k poly, it will either crash or might make the export (depend on how much it is over that number). If made the lod, in game most likely the mesh will not be visible. The blender exporter will make the lod but, if I good remember will not show in game.

There could be several factors. Also you exporting it from 3dsmax or blender? First things to look at: - correct lod name call-out in AC.ini file - if any or more mesh has more than 5k vertices themselves (not combined count, individual meshes)

21 August 1961, Edwards AFB The first intentional supersonice flight by an airliner. A DC-8-43 flown by Douglas test pilot Bill MacGruder dives from 50000 ft and breaks the sound barrier for approximately 16 seconds at around 41000 ft. Mainly to demonstrate that the DC-8 was in fact strong enough to do so. The aircraft was pending delivery to Canadian Pacific airlines, but still on the Doouglas books at teh time of the flight.

For the Battle of Britain 2 1960th terrain i will make two nations.ini. One for the usual Soviet vs NATO setting and a second one for an UK vs France and allies scenario. I love the blue vs blue or red vs red scenarios. No advantage by superior weapons, only the skill of the pilots decide the outcome of an battle.
