Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien - 2nd Fighter Regiment, Parani Army Air Force, 1943 Signed in September 1940 the Tripartite Pact between Germany, Italy and Japan was soon expanded to include Hungary and Romania before the end of the year with Bulgaria, Yugoslavia and Paran joining during the following Spring. Whilst Paran expected some immediate material support from Germany and Italy, both were fully commited to the North African campaign and Hitler had blocked any non-urgent exports due to his build-up of forces ready to unleash upon the Soviet Union. However, Hitler did still want to play a disruptive role in the Middle-East so he cannily persuaded Japan to supply weapons to Paran to use against Dhimar in the ongoing border disputes centered on the Mazadran Desert. The first aircraft to reach Paran were 18 Nakajima B5N attack aircraft, 12 Mitsubishi G3M bombers and 30 Kawasaki Ki-45 heavy fighters all arriving during June 1941 and entering service during July and August with Japanese engineering teams working alongside the Parani ground crew. In early skirmishes against the Royal Dhimari Air Force the twin-engined Ki-45's proved to be inferior to the Dhimari Vultee P-66D Vanguard fighters and in February 1942 General Ahmed Wajai, the Commander of the Parani Army Air Force, demanded a superior fighter to allow the Ki-45's to assume a ground-attack role. Whilst General Wajai hoped that Paran would receive the Mitsubishi A6M he was disappointed when told that this would not happen due to high demand by the Imperial Japanese Naval Air Service but he was promised the Kawasaki Ki-61 fighter for delivery during 1943 allowing him to plan an all-out attack on the Valley of Kerman. An initial batch of 20 Ki-61's entered service with the Parani Army Air Force in May 1943 with several experienced Imperial Japanese Army Air Force pilots from the 23rd Chutai serving alongside the Parani pilots until the 2nd Fighter Regiment was declared fully operational in late July 1943. When Paran's senior Commander, Brigadier General Abolqasem Mossadegh, launched Operation Whirlwind in September 1943 the Ki-61's came as an unwelcome shock to the fighter pilots of the Royal Dhimari Air Force as it totally outclassed their P-66D's and Hurricane IIC's. With Paran gaining air superiority over the Valley of Kerman it's land forces pushed onwards towards the industrial oil center at Al'Qatan in an audacious attack on the wider Mazadran oil fields. The F-100 isn't the only thing that is better! Many people that had SFP1 failed to see the value in buying SF2, because in theory SFP1 with mods was almost equal to SF2... so why buy the same game twice? Wings Over Israel was a glimpse of what was coming in SF2. It foreshadowed some of the graphics, AI dogfighting behavior, and electronics improvements. Ultimately, SF2 was a step up in almost every area except one: the loss of any multiplayer capability. But only a handful of people ever played SFP1/WoX online, I know because I hosted for years. SF2 had improvements to the available variants: look at how many different F-4s, A-4, F-100s, etc. you can fly. Most of the have realistically unique external 3d models and cockpits, adding things like RWRs, jammers, etc. that early versions didn't have. The electronic systems were made more realistic, most notably the RWRs. The flight model aerodynamic co-efficient tables were re-done at a higher resolution, which makes the flight models much more accurate, especially as you approach the sound barrier. And it kept on evolving with the addition of the mission editor and ultimately the North Atlantic brought the F-14 and much improved support for naval assets, including the functionality of aircraft carriers, which now had parked aircraft. But most people didn't see it that way and wouldn't pay for it. They either stuck with SFP1, pirated SF2, or moved on to other flight sims like LOMAC/Flaming Cliffs. Between the mission editor and North Atlantic, SF2 development costs made Third Wire go into the red and forced TK to switch to free-to-play android games. They are great for what they are supposed to be, but they don't interest me at all. I would have rather seen SF2 keep expanding/improving. It is great that TK is trying to get the ball rolling again, but the failure of the crowdfunding effort for the Windows 10 patch to even come close to the goal tells me how this ends: we only get this patch, which only has one purpose, not to add anything new or patch any long existing bugs, but simply to maximize Windows 10 compatibility because a good number of people have had problems with running SF2 on Win10. After the patch, I expect TK to go back to the apparently much more stable/profitable android apps. If only everyone who ever bought an SFP1/WoX game or pirated SF2 would come back and buy an SF2 game, or better yet this complete collection. That just might generate enough demand/profitability to get TK to spend some more time patching/improving SF2, maybe adding proper VR support.

Aircraft Carrier "Kuznetsov" ex Kremlin Class ***************************************************** This mod is made for SF2. ---------------------------------------------------------- I. History Since the 50th the Soviet Navy tried to get aircraft carriers. But the political leadership denied all attempts to build such vessels. So the Admirality tried to get carriers through the back door. They declared such ships would be neccessary to hunt down american submarines. So the big ASW ships Moskva and Leningrad were built. But the design was terrible. Thatswhy the project 1143 was developed, better known as Kiev class. The Kiev class was to small to operate conventional fix wing jets. So the ships were equipped with VTOL planes, the Yak-38. But this plane was no match for american or west european carrierbased planes. Thatswhy the flightdeck of project 1143.4 was made longer. The ship was named Baku. It was built for the supersonic Yak-41. A plan-B was to use the MiG-29K in the air group of the Baku. The next step was to make the project 1143 ships bigger and longer. 1143.5 was launched in 1982. First named as Riga, then Breshnev, then Tblissi and in 1990 renamed into Kuznetsov. When the USSR broke into parts the Kuznetsov was transfered to the russian North Fleet. The sister ship 1143.6, Riga was renamed in 1990 into Varjag (Viking). It was not operational when it was was given to the Ukraine. The Ukraine had not had enough money to finish the ship. Thatswhy it was sold to China. China finished the ship, modified it and named it Liaonang. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- II. CREDITS: This is a mod of the ship "Admiral Flota Sovetskogo Soyuza Kuznetsov", made by rokieborhgunder, which you can find here: https://combatace.com/files/file/17091-admiral-flota-sovetskogo-soyuza-kuznetsov/ ---------------------------------------------------------- III. INSTALLATION: -Unzip the folders into your SF2 mod folder ------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Known Problems: The mod is not perfect. Eight gun turrets are not of the correct type. The gun barrels looking always in the wrong direction. The SA-9N missiles does not start from the silos, but from mid of the ship. The Ship to Ship missiles also start from mid of the ship. ---------------------------------------------------------- V. For remarks, comments, bugs, etc please use the forum or send me a PM. ------------------------------------------------------------- VI. The Kuznetsov and all other files are FREEWARE. COMMERCIAL USE IS NOT ALLOWED! ------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ Hope you enjoy it. I wish now I had asked about a template for this plane a couple of years back. I've been working on one I built from Suhsjake's old SF1 template for over a year as I found time. I would love to have a copy of yours if you are willing to share. Also, I've been working on one for Wolf's B/C Mustang. Still needs work but not bad considering how old these models are.

it's really just a ported static from FE, for one of their "oceanic" mods, as FE doesn't support naval units of any kind. I think the meshes just extruded that way BECAUSE it had no functionality as a 'naval unit'. But it IS nice docked in-port.

I took a cargoship type I liked from a terrain I downloaded and tried to integrate into another terrain. The ship has just the LOD , the bitmaps and the ini file, no data.ini file. I tried to replace its lack of data.ini with the stock cargoship data.ini. I know that structure is different a bit., I looked to each ship nodes in the ship's LOD. The only problem is that the ship goes...backwards. LOL Which parameters are responsable for the direction of the movement of a ship ? Could be the 3D LOD settings itself ? I ask that because I notice that all 3D ships models, when you open them in LOD viewer, they have the bow to the right. In fact all 3D ship models I saw are like this. The one in cause it has it the bow to the left. I need guiding. Thank you.

yes. it's to increase the chance of them being tasked as a target in strike mission. You'll be assigned more warehouses than parked boats, which the game really doesn't support (as in port targets). These are fixed targets, what will always appear within the years specficed by their data inis, start date in the _types ini, and even specificly listed dates in the _targets.ini. Think of this logically ... a cargo ship in port is full of what???? thats, "goods and wares". Therefore, it's a floating storage building for ware, ie: a warehouse. Tankers in port are full of what???? petrochemicals, most usually oil (crude or refined). Therefore it's a floating oil tank, ie: fuel_storage. So, in the end, these have nothing to do with what your trying to do -- increase shipping traffic in the sea lanes

I read on the net that TK said that the game will be just updated to Win 10/Direct X 12 and have NO other improvements at all. That means that just the game's engine will be updated with some extentions to support directly/officialy Windows 10 (and the Direct X12 API) and nothing else. If the game doesn't have any DirectX 12 effects in it, being just the same old SF2 (with all series) and a guaranteed no bugs Win 10 interface and nothing else, why would I buy it ? I already ran it fine on Win 10, with no crashes or other bugs. NONE! I'm disappointed, I would've been expected more for an Win 10/Direct X 12 upgrade.

i think he means the retool of our current for Win10 @ jack33, likely but not necessarily. it's supposed to be a retool for Third Wire to do what Windows already does to make the old Win7 game work in Win10(compatability) , plus take advantage of DirectX updates since the older versions were released but anytime TK looks sideways at the PC SF2 it seems something the modders incorporated into the game breaks. it was business as usual a long time ago but the stability had been nice since Jul2013 (the last patch to the game) back at yakarov79, it might not be a bad thing. it could bring in new blood on the game itself, and for every say 100 new players you might get 2-3 new modders. especially if the new version is not too different and can take our old abandoned mods

Not really, if you add ANY nation in Nations.ini it works, plus changing the plane's "country" where is needed (in plane's data.ini file, in plane's ini file, in textureset.ini for each skin you have and adding the line EnemyNationXXX=SOVIETNAVY in [LimitedNationList], in terrains ini file ). I don't use Menrva mode, I just added the nation SOVIETNAVY and all the others I mentioned, that's all. Trust me, it's just as simple. Kamchatka terrain is already set to allow single missions FROM a carrier, the Russian one. Maybe , there it's the real...mystery, how he made that possible. The other maps, I noticed , don't have these settings, you have to add , manually, in editor , the carrier, and then to set your plane to take off from the carrier. But the funny thing is that if you do that, you get NO deck planes at all! I told you I am a fast lerner LOL // Oman 77-83 [Nation210] Name=Oman_OLD77 ActiveDate=1977 AlternateDecal=Oman_OLD70 // Oman 70-77 [Nation211] Name=Oman_OLD70 ActiveDate=1970 AlternateDecal=Oman_OLD63 // Oman 65-70 [Nation212] Name=Oman_OLD65 [Nation213] Name=SovietNavy DisplayName=Soviet Navy Air Force Alignment=ENEMY PilotNameList=NamesRussian.lst RankList=RanksRussian.lst CallsignList=CallsignsUS.lst Formation.Fighter=SovietFighter Formation.Attack=SovietFighter Formation.Bomber=SovietBomber Formation.Transport=SovietBomber Formation.Tank=SovietTank Formation.MobileAD=SovietAD PilotTrainingStandard=EXCELLENT GenderRatio=0 DebriefSuccessMusic=DebriefSuccess.wav DebriefFailMusic=DebriefFail.wav DebriefKilledMusic=DebriefKilled.wav SpeechFile=USAFSpeech.cat SpeechTextFile=USAFSpeechText.str You won't have, in the menu, Service markings and Unit Markings (I added myself in decals of course, which is easy) because they don't exist, but it will still work. You even can make all your plane's skins to appears, using the startdefaultdate trick, in loadout.ini and they will appear changed on the carrier's deck accordingly.

CVN Ulyanovsk by Julhelm This model represents the Soviet Project 1143.7 CVN Ulyanovsk, as it probably would have appeared had the project had been carried through to completion. I won't go into the actual history of the ship, as it's just as easy for anyone so inclined to perform an online search and dig up all the relevant details on the vessel. This model was designed and optimized for SF2:NA, and that means Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8. At the very least it requires the latest SF2 series patch for its systems and DX10 visual effects to work properly. To install this package, simply place the folders located inside the .RAR archive into the mod folder of whichever SF2 title you desire the ship to appear in. Additional work may be required on your part to ensure that the ship's TEWS RWR symbol (SkyWatch) is added to the RWR list of any aircraft so equipped. Instructions on how to do this, can be found on the SF2 knowledge base, courtesy of EricJ: http://combatace.com/topic/44441-making-a-custom-tga-for-tews-radar-warning-recievers/ Sound effects will also require editing of the soundlist.ini file in order to work. I’ve included a modified soundlist.ini file, for those who do not have it extracted. Warning: Be careful if you already have an existing custom soundlist.ini file, as it will be overwritten. In that case, simply add the following lines (shown below), taking care to follow the existing numbering sequence (the soundlist.ini will reside in your flight folder). Use the supplied soundlist.ini as a guide. SoundFileXXX=Underway SoundFileXXX=ReductionGear SoundFileXXX=CIWS [underway] Priority=Normal 3DSound=TRUE DopplerEffect=TRUE Looped=TRUE NumBuffers=2 MaxDist=250.000000 MinDist=10.000000 InsideConeAngle=360 OutsideConeAngle=360 ConeOutsideVolume=100 [ReductionGear] Priority=NORMAL 3DSound=TRUE DopplerEffect=TRUE Looped=TRUE NumBuffers=4 MaxDist=2000.000000 MinDist=10.000000 InsideConeAngle=360 OutsideConeAngle=360 ConeOutsideVolume=100 [CIWS] Priority= Normal Looped=TRUE NumBuffers=2 3DSound=TRUE DopplerEffect=FALSE MaxDist=2000.000000 MinDist=50.000000 InsideConeAngle=360 OutsideConeAngle=360 ConeOutsideVolume=100 Known issues: 1) The supplied SA-N-11 Kortik SAMs are not precisely scaled, so they were placed in the center of each Kashtan's missile tube cluster. They also do not have a defined booster stage in their model file, so don't expect booster separation. Also, the actual SA-N-11 is guided by an optical tracking system in real life. Again, this is not supported by the series, so they were given high counter-measure rejection and probability of intercept values, to compensate. 2) As of the present date (October 7 2012) Third Wire does not support a PROPER VLS system on a vessel that's also equipped with mutiple SAM types, on slewable mounts. To put it simply, one can have a working VLS system and nothing else, or one can have working Kashtans. I chose the latter option, though the nodes and missiles are supplied if this situation were to change in the future. 3) Third Wire has not made provisions for a working "ski-jump", so virtual bow catapults are used instead, and aircraft thus launched will appear to fly through the bow ramp. File Name: Carrier Deck Illumination File Submitter: Fubar512 File Submitted: 12 February 2014 File Category: Aircraft Carriers Carrier Deck Illumination Beta 1.0 Effects and .ini work: MiGbuster and Fubar512 Placement: MiGbuster Technical Consultant: SidDogg This mod DOES NOT contain the carrier models. It requires that you have Sf2V and/or SF2NA, and preferably both, installed on your system. The SCB-125 and CVA-63 models are native to SF2V. They are also included in SF2NA, which adds the CVN-68. We have included files for all three types. To install: Simply drag the contents of the zip file, which are the two folders, "effects and groundobject", into the mod (saved games) folder of the desired title. For example, using SF2NA, the default path would be "YOUR NAME/Saved Games/Thirdwire/StrikeFighters2NorthAtlantic" Note that this is a Beta, a work in progress, and as such, it is not perfect. Deck illumination is on all the time. The Optical Landing System is not-functional. These are currently due to the limitations of the series. Click here to download this file
