  1. Avia S-92 "SAQR"

    AVIA S-92 "SAQR"

    HISTORY

    When the Parani Ministry of Defence approached the Avia company to purchase its S-199 and CS-199's, mention of purchasing Jet powered aircraft was made. The Avia Company, had acquired the plans and technical details of the ME-262, and had commenced production of their own version of this aircraft. The Parani MOD realised that this would be a cheap and cheerful way of breaking into jet powered machines, and, so, purchased a batch of the Avia S-92's they however asked for the original 4 gun pack to be replaced as they felt that just the 2 guns as fitted in standard S-92's was inadequate. The aircraft entered service in 1946 , and were in operational service up until the mid 50's with number 4 Squadron I.P.A.F. The Aircraft was given the name SAQR or Falcon, and was held in great admiration by the pilots that flew this aircraft.

    Installation and blah blah

    A repaint of the Avia S-92 no special information is needed for this aircraft, as with all my other uploads hopefully I have included all you need to make the Stormbird fly. ENJOY !!

  2. La-15 "YAMMAM"

    La-15 "YAMAAM"

    HISTORY

    Pending the acquisition of Mig-17 / J-3 aircraft for the Parani air Force. a purchase of La-15's was made ( one of the last purchases from the USSR) the capability of this aircraft was similar to the Mig-15/J2 that was in use by the Army (I.P.A.F.A.) and it was felt that until Mig-17/J3 airframes could be acquired, that this aircraft was ideal as a temporary fighter/interceptor, with the additional idea that when the Mig's were in use that this aircraft would make a good primary jet trainer for pilots converting to Jet powered aircraft, so the front line service life of the YAMAAM ( Dove ) was quite short, and many Parani pilots cut their teeth on this type.

    Installation and blah blah

    Just a quick repaint of the LA-15 originally done by PC-Pilot. As with all my uploads, this is an all in one package, all the bits and bobs are there for you including PilotData ( for the Squadrons) and Nations.ini .So unpack to your saved game folder, it has been tested on a fully merged install. so I assume it will work on any non merged set ups too. So... off you jolly well pop, and go and shoot down some accursed infidel Dhimari !!!

  3. AVIA-CS-199 JANBIYAH

    AVIA-CS-199 "JANBIYAH"

    HISTORY

    When the Parani Ministry of Defence Purchased Avia-S-199 aircraft for the Air force, they also purchased a Squadron of CS-199's to act as a recce/cas aircraft. This was seen as ideal as it was a 2 seater, dual control aircraft, and was also then useful as a trainer for aircrews converting to the "SAIF" Number 2 Squadron was equipped with this aircraft, which was also reverse engineered to replace the nose mounted guns, as the underwing mounts for the original gunpods were needed to fit bomb racks, and it was felt that the pilots needed guns for strafing attacks , and also in the trainer role, for A-A and A-G training, even though there was a recorded issue with the synchronisation gear for these guns ( The Israeli's had a few incidents of shooting off their own props.....never a good idea !! ) As with the S-199 "SAIF" the JANBIYAH or Dagger, was only intended as a stop gap until the arrival of the expected Migs. however as a primary trainer, the aircraft is still in service, ( even though frontline service terminated in 1975) but the airframes are getting rather tired now, and new replacements are being sort after.

    AVIA-S199 "SAIF"

    HISTORY

    The Parani Air Force ( I.P.A.F.) had been using ex lufwaffe BF-109 G10's and the Avia S-99 since the end of the "Western Infidel War" and these airframes were getting tired and worn out, as they were usually second and third hand cast off, and ex "hangar Queens" which had been scavenged from many sources, When the IDF started using the Avia S-199 , the Parani Ministry of Defence liked what they had seen ( even though there were certain issues with this aircraft type) Early in 1947 they approached their Czech Military advisors, and acquired brand new airframes direct from Avia. One Squadron (Huntress Squadron) of the Imperial Air Force was equipped fully with the Avia-S-199 which was given the name of Saif, or Scimitar. intended as a stop gap aircraft, until the MIG-17 or J-3 was available, these aircraft actually remained in service up until the mid 70's.

    Fi156 "LUQLUQ"

    HISTORY

    Paran acquired a lot of Fi-156 Storch aircraft, over the years, and embarked on a programme of refurbishment and restoration, the result was the Fi156 LUQLUQ ( Stork ) this ubiquitous aircraft is in use with all 3 air arms of the Imperial Parani Military, its versatility, excellent STOL capability, and ease of maintenance, ensure its continuing service for the foreseeable future.

    Installation and blah blah

    This is just a basic re paint of the Storch , for all the Parani air power enthusiasts out there, there are 3 skins one for each service. I have included ( I hope) everything needed in one package, ie. the aircraft decals, weapons, pilots, and sounds. I have also included a SQADRONLIST.INI, and a NATIONS.INI to allow these birds to show up as a nation and with the correct markings. I have dropped all the respective files into their correct folders so, all you will need to do is unRAR/ZIP/7Z to your saved game folder, and allow overwrites ( if any) I have tested this on a full merged all bells and whistles SF2 so I assume it will work on unmerged too.as I said everything is there to get her up and running, just drop it all as is into your saved game folder and off you fly.

  6. YAK-23 "QATRAS"

    YAK-23 "QATRAS"

    HISTORY

    As the Navy had been using its YAK-9 NUHAS with much success it was deemed after operational evaluation that seiing as the Army was being equipped with JJ-2 ( Mig-15Bis) that the Navy needed a jet powered interceptor/point defence fighter, after evaluating the YAK-15, it was thought that the upgraded YAK-23 FLORA would be more suitable, with its tricycle undercarriage and slight upgrades to other systems, the aircraft was purchased through the Czech military mission based in Paran, as diplomatic ties with the USSR had broken down as mentioned in another description ( stay with the programme folks, download 'em all !! ) this aircraft was introduced into the First Marine Squadron , and was given the name QUATRAS, or Albatross. the aircraft was found to be ideal for the navy's needs as it introduced pilots to jet powered aircraft, and also secret experimentation with carrier landing and take off drills at a secret location deep in the desert , with a full mock up carrier deck. The aircraft was also much loved by its pilots, and was found to be very manoeuvrable and a good gun platform.

  7. YAK-9 "NUHAS"

    YAK-9 "NUHAS"

    HISTORY

    At the close of the "Western Infidel War" or the 1939-45 war to the west, Paran had become a wealthy nation, due to it's trade with oil and sand ( for sandbags ) to the everyone who wasn't at war with them ( no one) and disturbing sabre rattling from across the border on Dhimar, the Parani Ministry of Defence, embarked upon a programme of modernisation and re equipping of its various military units. The Navy formed Marine aviation units, with the view to eventually acquiring an Aircraft carrier, however as this was not an option at this time due to the trade in sand ( For sandbags) tailing off, but it was certainly a goal of the Imperial Military to procure at least one carrier at some point.
    The I.P.M.N.A. in the meantime needed equipping, the first aircraft purchased was the capable and reliable Yak-9 , named the "NUHAS" or Shrike in Parani service, this aircraft was seen as a dual purpose aircraft filling both the ground attack/CAS capability and also was a capable fighter in its own right, the 2nd Marine Squadron was thus equipped with this aircraft and used them to good effect for many years.

  8. The Other CF-105 (CF-105 Thunderchief)

    This is a what-if mod of the stock F-105D Thunderchief, with Sundowner's new high-resolution skins for the Royal Canadian Air Force/Canadian Armed Forces Air Command.

    Backstory

    During the late 1950s, Canada agreed to take on a nuclear strike role in NATO. The aircraft that took on this role would replace the Canadair Sabre. The RCAF considered several designs including the Grumman F11F Tiger, the Lockheed F-104G Starfighter, the Northrop N-156F, and the Republic F-105 Thunderchief.

    The F-105 variant offered to the RCAF was an F-105D equipped with an Orenda Iroquois engine. Two prototypes were constructed in 1959, using engines that had been constructed for the cancelled Avro Arrow. The marriage of Iroquois to F-105 was not a happy one. The Iroquois was an excellent engine when used operated at high altitude and high speed, the operating environment of an interceptor. When operated at transonic and supersonic speeds at low level, the engine proved unreliable. A catastrophic turbine failure at 400 ft and Mach 0.95 resulted in a fatal crash. This, combined with the escalating cost of developing the Iroquois forced the Government to cancel the Iroquois and opt for a standard F-105D. Canadian content was kept by having Pratt and Whitney Canada built the J75 engines under licence.

    With the Cold War heating up fast, the RCAF received its Thunderchiefs quickly. Five RCAF squadrons were equipped including 421, 422, 427, 439. and 441 Squadrons. For nuclear strike, their standard loadout was a Mark 28 nuclear bomb, two or four Sidewinders, and two drop tanks. The Thuds could also carry out conventional strike missions using a variety of bombs, missiles, and rockets.

    In 1965, the RCAF deployed 427 Squadron to RAAF Ubon in Thailand to operate beside the F-105s of 2 Squadron RAAF. Between 1965 and 1972, the Canadian and Australian Thunderchiefs bombed thousands of targets across North Vietnam.

    Upon their withdrawal from Vietnam, the CF-105 Thunderchiefs returned to Europe. The Trudeau Government removed their nuclear strike mission, leaving them as conventional strike aircraft only. For this reason, all the CF-105s were painted dark green, and given the new "symmetrical" marking scheme. The aircraft were refurbished after Vietnam to give them another ten years of life, and recently retired Thuds from USAF stocks replenished Canadian losses.

    The Thuds remained in Canadian Service until 1984, when they were replaced by the CF-18. The CF-105G Wild Weasel continued until 1987.

    Skins
    RCAF Natural Metal - Initial skin, natural metal with RCAF Markings. RCAF SEA Camo - Introduced in 1966 for Canadian Thuds deployed to Vietnam. Standard RCAF markings. CAF Natural Metal - Used in Europe & Canada after 1968. CAF marking scheme. CAF SEA - Used in Vietnam after 1968, and introduced in Europe during depot maintenance. CAF marking scheme. CAF Green - Dark Green scheme used in Europe after 1973. Symmetrical marking scheme. Remained until retirement.

    The F-105D has only the RCAF skins. All skins are offered for the F-105D_66

    Installation

    Copy the contents of ModFolder into your mod folder. Merge/overwrite when prompted.

    Notes

    This mod contains a Squadronlist.ini file. If you do not wish to alter your own, then you should add the following into your squadronlist.ini:

    [squadron569]
    Name=421CAF
    DisplayName=No. 421 Squadron
    Nation=Canada

    [squadron570]
    Name=422CAF
    DisplayName=No. 422 Squadron
    Nation=Canada

    [squadron571]
    Name=427CAF
    DisplayName=No. 427 Squadron
    Nation=Canada

    [squadron574]
    Name=439CAF
    DisplayName=No. 439 Squadron
    Nation=Canada

    [squadron575]
    Name=441CAF
    DisplayName=No. 441 Squadron
    Nation=Canada

    Should these numbers not correspond with those in your squadronlist.ini, then change the numbers on the file, and the filenames of the SQN decals accordingly.

    In order to get the correct roundel and Canadian flag, you can change the active date for Canada in your nations.ini from 1968 to 1965. This means that in the menus, you will see "Canadian Armed Forces" three years early, but in the sim, you will get the present Canadian flag and the stylised maple leaf roundel used today.

    To access nuclear weapons for Canada, I recommend making nation specific version of the various US nuclear weapons (e.g. Mk43_Canada), rather than making them exportable.

    To make your own F-105 skins, use Sundowner's templates: http://combatace.com/files/file/14427-hi-res-tw-f-105d-templates/

    No apologies for being cheeky with the designation CF-105.

  9. F-39A/B Griffin Blk 1/5 - Gripen NG for the US

    Gripen NG for the United States – F-39A/B Griffin Blk 1/5

    1.0

    Due to a change in US government policy driven by cost overruns, project delays and negative public (aka voter) opinion the USAF F-35A order is halved. To make up the shortfall a cheaper 4.5 generation aircraft is sought to replace the rest of the F-16 fleet.

    New built F-16s are considered but ultimately a license built US specific version of the Gripen NG is chosen. To help offset the loss of the cancelled F-35 order Lockheed Martin is awarded the contract to build the F-39 along with the US specific modifications. The most important of which is full data/ sensor integration and cooperative war fighting with the F-35A fleet.

    The USAF designate the US built Gripen the F-39A/B Griffin. The first Block 1 Griffins off the Lockheed Martin production line are identical to the JAS-39E/F and equip CONUS Air National Guard units to replace the F-16 in the air sovereignty role. At the same time Lockheed Martin produce a handful of developmental airframes to integrate the full USAF arsenal of weapons and apply some of the technology from the F-35 program. The probe air-to-air refuelling system is also replaced with a flying boom receptacle. The end result is the F-39A/B Block 5 which is used to replace the F-16 in those USAF units that are not going to be equipped with the F-35A. The Block 5 Griffin is fully compatible with the F-35 and shares the same data link technology. This means Griffin equipped units can be used cost effectively in the low intensity warfare role but when required can be ‘force multiplied’ by the F-35A in a modern battlefield. All Block 1 aircraft will be upgraded to Block 5 standard.

    Included in this mod are:

    - F-39A Block 1 Griffin

    - F-39B Block 1 Griffin

    - F-39A Block 5 Griffin

    - F-39B Block 5 Griffin

    - F-39A Block 5 Griffin Aggressor

    - F-39B Block 5 Griffin Aggressor

    - 14 different USAF/ANG squadrons

    - 22 different skins

    To Install simply un pack and drop into your mods folder.

    Notes:

    - The Block 1 aircraft have a reduced weapons capability compared the Block 5 as they can only carry the weapons currently cleared on the Jas-39 Gripin (Aim-9M, Aim-120C etc) this is reflected in the loadout.ini.

    - The pilot is a re-skinned JHMCS model to look like the Cobra HMD that is integrated with the Gripin (see last screenshot below).

    - F-39B Block 5 Aggressor has a cannon even though the two seater doesn’t have one. This is for game play so it will engage you as an aggressor aircraft.

  10. AN-2 HESSAN

    AN-2 HESSAN

    HISTORY

    The I.P.A.F.A units needed a STOL capable aircraft, to enable resupply to forward units, and also a limited parachute drop capability. the perfect aircraft for this was deemed to be the AN-2 "Colt" The Parani Ministry of Defence, purchased a large quantity of these aircraft, to equip the army units. A small number of these aircraft were blacked out for use by the Parani Special operations Group. This aircraft has been in service with the I.P.A.F.A. since 1947, and is deemed still capable for use into the near future. As an additional role, the AN-2 has been fitted with bomb/rocket racks, and is capable of executing limited nuisance attacks.
    The Aircraft is much loved by its crews, and carries the name HESSAN which means Horse , its ease of maintenance and reliability, mean it is a very useful and flexible aircraft.

    Installation and blah blah

    This is a quick and dirty repaint of the original AN-2 with marking etc for an aircraft in Parani service, there are 2 different skins for the 2 Army Forward Aviaton Regiments, one of which is a Spec Ops colour scheme, the cargo bay door operates by pressing whichever key you are using for the bombbay doors, I assume you can drop para's out of it, but I have not found anything that does that, so on the load out screen that weapon station is greyed out.

  11. IL-10 "SHAKOSH"

    HISTORY

    As the Imperial Republic of Paran moved into a more prosperous, if uneasy peace with their neighbours in Dhimar, it was decided, that an upgrade of the Armed Forces was of paramount importance, up until 1946 the Parani Army, Air Force, and Navy had been equipped with obsolete cast off aircraft from the "Western Infidel " war of 1939 -1945 mainly equipped with old Soviet, and some Italian and German airframes, it was found that as the Dhimari's had started to upgrade their Air Forces, that the present equipment levels were sadly lacking and not overly capable, plus the cost of maintaining these elderly and war weary airframes was prohibitive in the least !
    The Paran Ministry of Defence, had been keeping a close eye on the activities in Korea, and they noted that the use of the upgraded IL-2's used by the Chinese and Korean Forces were very able and reliable weapons systems, as , also the Parani's had Czech Military advisors, the acquisition of Avia B-33 licence built IL-10 airframes was very viable and affordable. So began the long and successful career of the IL-10 (named SHAKOSH which means hammer In Parani ) in service with the I.P.A.F.A.

    This is a quick and dirty repaint of the original IL-10 Beast with marking etc for an aircraft in Parani service, there are 2 different skins for the 2 Army Forward Aviaton Regiments, the load outs are for a mix of Czech and Soviet weapons, however they are date dependant, so some wont show up at certain dates, but that is not an issue as there are other weapons which are used instead, it helps if you have weapons packs etc in your install, but not 100% needed.

  12. Martin XB-51 Panther

    The Martin XB-51 was an American "tri-jet" ground attack aircraft. It was designed in 1945 and made its maiden flight in 1949. It was originally designed as a bomber for the United States Army Air Forces under specification V-8237-1 and was designated XA-45. The "A" ground attack classification was eliminated the next year, and the XB-51 designation was assigned instead. The requirement was for low-level bombing and close support. The XB-51 lost out in evaluation to the English Electric Canberra which entered service as the B-57.

  13. JJ-2 NIHLA

    JJ-2 "NIHLA"

    History

    In the late 1940's Paran had been a prolific buyer from the USSR, however, in early 1949, the Soviet Ambassador to Paran was caught in a compromising situation, and as it was seen as an insult to both the Emperor, and to his wifes, the offending party was escorted to the borders of Paran, after having an interview without coffee, with the Chief of Internal Security. Unfortunately this led to a cessation of trade between the USSR and Paran, so the Ministry of Defence was forced to look elsewhere for supplies of weapons, to defend against the dread Dhimar Sultanate . Lukilly the Chinese were making Migs under licence , so trade was opened with the Chinese in short order.
    After the initial success with the J-2 Dabur programme, and with the assistance an advice of the Czech military advisors, work was started on Converting the JJ-2 ( Mig-15 UTI) from merely a training airframe, to something a little more flexible. Thus the NIHLA ( BEE) project was started, the basic JJ-2 was fitted with a reconnaissance suite, and also upgraded to be able to carry the larger J-3 ( Mig-17) drop tanks.
    As the I.P.A.F.A. had already received deliveries of the initial J-2 Dabur's. it was decided that the JJ-2 Nihla would be the perfect aircraft to carry out the reconnaissance role for the Army.

    Installation and blah blah

    I have included ( I hope) everything needed in one package, ie. the aircraft ( you will need the Mig-15bis installed already to allow it to work) decals, weapons, pilots, and sounds. I have also included a SQADRONLIST.INI, and a NATIONS.INI to allow these birds to show up as a nation and with the correct markings. I have dropped all the respective files into their correct folders so, all you will need to do is unRAR/ZIP/7Z to your saved game folder, and allow overwrites ( if any) I have tested this on a full merged all bells and whistles SF2 so I assume it will work on unmerged too.as I said everything is there to get her up and running, just drop it all as is into your saved game folder and off you fly.

    the camera is activated by hitting pg up twice ( or whichever key you have assigned to your radar ) the loadout is defaulted to drop tanks only, as this IS A RECCE bird, and not really ideal as an attack aircraft, however, if push come to shove and panic is ensuing, the Nihla CAN me armed with limited ordanance, in lieu of drop tanks ( so beware, VERY short range) and that's about it, please enjoy. I hope to be doing some more Parani/Dhimari stuff so for all you desert warriors, I hope you enjoy 'em as much as I do

  14. J-2 "Dabur"

    J-2 "DABUR"
    History.

    In 1955, the Imperial Parani Defence Ministry placed an order with China to purchase Chinese built Mig15Bis ( J-2 ) At the time they had Czech military advisors, who passed on information about the modification programme to their own S-103 airframes to give more potency, and a better ground attack capability.
    The Parani aerospace bureau, quickly copied the specifications to the new J-2's. The resulting aircraft was designated J-2 " Dabur" (Dabur = Wasp) These aircraft were then passed onto the military for flight evaluation, and the results were mostly positive. It was decided by Parani High Command, that as the Air Force were going to be equipped with the J-3 (Mig 17) in the near future, that the J-2 airframes would be assigned to I.P.A.F.A. (Imperial Parani Army Forward Aviation ) units to supplement their existing fleet of IL-10's .
    These aircraft soldiered on until 1970, when a replacement was being looked into by the Defence Ministry.

    History

    During the 1960s, the Royal Canadian Air Force commenced a search for a more affordable fighter to supplement the CF-101 Voodoo, and the CF-104 Starfighter. The RCAF advised the government to acquire the F-4 Phantom II. The British Government proposed a cooperative project with Canada, involving Canada choosing the F-4M instead of the F-4E (preferred by the RCAF). The British plan offered Canada a higher offset than the F-4E would have. It would also help to maintain Commonwealth economic ties, keeping Britain away from Europe, and mainaining Canadian access to British markets.

    While McDonnell acted as the primary contractor, assembly of all F-4Ms was contracted to Canadair. Production of the engines for Canada's Phantoms was allocated to Orenda (TF41-OEL-2).

    The CF-110M entered service in 1969 with 409 Squadron. Subsequntly aircraft were allocated to NATO units. Initially, they served in the nuclear strike and reconnaissance role in Europe, and in the air defence role in North America. In 1972, their nuclear role was withdrawn and the role of conventional attack was substituted. For this role, the NATO CF-110s were equipped with conventional bombs, cluster bombs, including the British BL755, and the Canadian CRV-7 unguided rocket. SUU-23 gun pods were procured for the Europe-based Phantoms. Later, gun pods were purchased for NORAD Phantoms. Other new weapons for the Canadian Phantoms included the British Skyflash medium range air-to-air missile, and upgraded version of the AIM-9 Sidewinder. Pave Spike was added in 1980 to give the Phantoms the ability to guide their own laser-guided bombs.

    The CF-110M served with the Canadian Armed Forces until 1991, when it was replaced with the CF-18.

    Installation

    Copy the contents of ModFolder into your mod folder. Overwrite where necessary. If you had downloaded the previous CF-110M, you should delete it. A new non-unified version in RCAF markings (rather than CAF markings) is in the works, and should be available soon.

  16. RAAF F-105D Thunderchief

    This is a what-if mod of the stock F-105D Thunderchief, with Sundowner's new high-resolution skins, for the Royal Australian Air Force.

    Backstory

    During the late 1950s, Australia faced a worsening strategic situation to its north. Having helped Indonesia gain its independence in 1949, Australia now faced an increasingly hostile government, led by the nationalist dictator Sukarno. As time went on, Sukarno tempered his nationalism with communism, and considered himself South-East Asia's foremost anti-colonialist. Indonesia's communist party, the PKI, was the third largest communist party in the world, exceeded by only the Communist Party of China and the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

    Sukarno's closer relationship with the USSR had tangible rewards for Indonesia's armed forces, the TNI. Soviet weapons poured into Indonesia. Australian defence leaders doubted that their Avon-Sabres could intercept Indonesia's Il-28 Beagle bombers, and were absolutely certain that they couldn't touch Tu-16 Badgers. Likewise, the ability of the GAF Canberra to survive against an air defence equipped with supersonic MiG fighters was questionable at best.

    To be assured of their ability to attack a target in Indonesia (possibly with a "special weapon"), Australia needed a new strike aircraft. The Menzies Government ordered the F-111C off the drawing board. In the meantime, an interim aircraft was sought. The B-47 Stratojet was offered, but rejected. The B-47 was seen as too unwieldly for the RAAF. The USAF's current tactical strike aircraft, the F-105 Thunderchief, seemed to fit the bill.

    Australia's Thunderchiefs were delivered quickly. Shortly after the F-111 order was placed, Thuds began to arrive in Australia. Three RAAF Squadrons were equipped with the F-105, 1 Squadron, 2 Squadron, 6 Squadron, and 12 Squadron. 2 Squadron was deployed to RAAF Butterworth for forward defence, while 1 and 6 Squadrons were based at RAAF Amberley. As with most RAAF aircraft, it served with the Aircraft Research and Development Unit.

    1965 was a key year in the history of the Australian Thunderchiefs. The Abortive Coup in Indonesia in September removed Australia's primary threat, and Australia committed combat forces to support the government of South Vietnam.

    2 Squadron were moved from RAAF Butterworth to RAAF Ubon in eastern Thailand. 2 Squadron's F-105 Thunderchiefs operated alongside their US equivalents in attacking North Vietnam.

    The RAAF's Thuds remained in Thailand until the withdrawal of Australian forces in Vietnam in 1972. During that time, they operated on both sides of the DMZ, and were the preferred support for the Australian Task Force in Phuoc Tuy province. The Task Force especially appreciated the accuracy of the Australian F-105 pilots. Several RNZAF pilots flew Australian Thunderchiefs on exchange postings.

    As the USAF replaced their Thunderchiefs with Phantoms, the American Thuds were given to the RAAF to replace their losses.

    When 2 Squadron returned to Australia, it was immediately disbanded, and its crews were sent to 1 and 6 Squadrons to train for the F-111C, which was finally to arrive.

    The RAAF's Wild Weasels continued in service until 1983.

    Skins
    Natural metal - This is the scheme in which the aircraft were delivered. In RAAF service, it was used until 1966, when circumstances forced the RAAF to camouflage their aircraft. This skin is provided only for the F-105D, however should you wish to use it with the F-105D_66, then simply copy the RAAFSilver folder into the F-105D_66 folder, and rename the aircraft textures from F-105D_x.bmp to F-105D_66_x.bmp. SEA - This scheme was introduced for the RAAF's Thuds in 1966 for usage in Vietnam. All RAAF F-105D Thunderchiefs eventually wore this scheme. It persisted until the retirement of the Thud. Anti-Flash White - Between 1962 and 1965, ARDU (the RAAF's test flying unit) operated three F-105Ds in a special anti-flash white scheme. The aircraft were used for testing a variety of conentional and nuclear weapons. While ARDU's home base was RAAF Laverton, the White Thuds operated almost exclusively from the secretive Woomera Test Facility.

    Installation

    Copy the contents of ModFolder into your mod folder. Merge/overwrite when prompted. Please see Notes first.

    Notes

    This mod contains a squadronlist.ini file. If you do not wish to alter your own, then you should add the following into your squadronlist.ini:

    [squadron193]
    Name=2RAAF
    DisplayName=No. 2 Squadron
    Nation=Australia

    [squadron716]
    Name=1RAAF
    DisplayName=No. 1 Squadron
    Nation=Australia

    [squadron725]
    Name=ARDU
    DisplayName=Aircraft Research and Development Unit
    Nation=Australia

    [squadron726]
    Name=6RAAF
    DisplayName=No. 6 Squadron
    Nation=Australia

    [squadron727]
    Name=12RAAF
    DisplayName=No. 12 Squadron
    Nation=Australia

    Should these numbers not correspond with those in your squadronlist.ini, then change the numbers on the file, and the filenames of the SQN decals accordingly. Note that there are two decals for ARDU. Both must be renamed.

  17. F-104G - Royal Australian Air Force

    This mod contains a series of RAAF skins for the F-104G Starfighter.

    Backstory

    During the late 1950s, the RAAF considered the question of replacing the CAC Avon-Sabre. From the submissions of most of the West's major manufacturers, a shortlist of two aircraft was put forward. These aircraft were the Dassault Mirage III, and the Lockheed F-104G Starfighter. In the event, the Government selected the Mirage III, which was manufactured in Australia as the Mirage IIIO. Of course, the Government could have gone the other way ...

    Had they done so, there was a chance that the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation would have been chosen to build it (they had been working on this with Lockheed). In real life, the Mirage IIIO was not used in Vietnam due to French restrictions (hence the reason Australia did not replace the Mirage IIIO with the Mirage 2000, and will not replace the F/A-18 with the Rafale), however the F-104G could have been used in Vietnam.

    The natural metal, and green/grey schemes reflect the actual colour schemes of the Mirage IIIO. SEA is included because it is highly appropriate for Australian conditions, and would reflect use of RAAF Starfighters in Vietnam. The "Fanta Can" is included because I'd be stoned to death for not including it. Further schemes may be included in updates.

    Contents

    Natural Metal, European green/grey, SEA camouflage skins for the following units:
    3SQN 75SQN 76SQN 77SQN 79SQN ARDU

    "Fanta Can" scheme for ARDU.

    In the extras folder, there are alternate wings for different roundel configurations:
    Upper and lower, both wings (reflecting most F-104 users) Lower, both wings (reflecting the Mirage IIIO and A-4G) Upper left, lower right (reflecting the F-4E and F-111C)

    Installation

    Copy the contents of ModFolder into your mod folder. Overwrite where necessary. If you have downloaded the previous RAAF F-104G, I suggest deleting it before adding this mod. Materials and instructions for making the F-104G flyable are widely available on this site. You must have the Mirage IIIO DLC to use this mod.

    History

    The idea for this aircraft comes from my Nazi Cold War timeline on my alternate history wikia.

    The RAN proposed the acquisition of Essex class carriers to the Government in 1964 to replace the Majestic class HMAS Melbourne. The aircraft the RAN proposed was the F-4B Phantom.

    Operating an F-4B from the relatively small deck of an Essex class carrier is problematic, to say the least. On the other hand, the F-4K Phantom modifications would enable the operation of a Phantom from such a small deck.

    The F-4K entered service in 1969. Three squadrons operated the Phantom; 805 Squadron, which operated from HMAS Melbourne; 808 Squadron, which operated from HMAS Sydney; and 724 Squadron, which conducted the RAN's Phantom training from HMAS Albatross in Nowra, NSW. Both 805 and 808 Squadrons were homeported at HMAS Albatross. They initially served beside the RAN's A-4E Skyhawks. From 1972, the Phantom's counterpart was the A-7E Corsair II.

    They served in the Vietnam War protecting supply convoys to North Vietnam to aid its fight against the Fascist regime in the South. They subsequently served in the Gulf War of 1995. After the war, the F-4K was replaced by the McDonnell Douglas FV-16C Wraith STOVL fighter.

    The F-4K remained in service until 1995.

    For further on this (including the RAN proposal itself) see the following:

    These skins can be integrated with the British-style F-4K Phantom FG.22 mod which is also available. Note that this aircraft has a different name. The British-style version's name is "F-4K Phantom FG.22 (RAN)", while this mod is named "F-4K Phantom (RAN)"

    History

    The RAN ordered the Phantom to replace the de Havilland Sea Vixen FAW.22 which had served on Australia's Audacious class carrier HMAS Melbourne R21 (ex-HMS Africa). They were delivered in 1969, and served with two squadrons, 805 Squadron, which was the operational squadron embarked on HMAS Melbourne, and 724 Squadron, which served as a training unit. Both were homeported at HMAS Albatross in Nowra, NSW. Where necessary, additional training was provided in RAAF Phantom FGR.22s with 2 OCU at RAAF Williamtown.

    The RAN's Phantom FG.21s served with Commonwealth forces in the Far East and the Indian Ocean for many years, including sporadic skirmishes with Indonesian aircraft and ships. In 1982, HMAS Melbourne was assigned to aid the British effort to liberate the Falklands from Argentine occupation.

    After the Falklands War, the Phantom FG.21 continued to serve. HMAS Melbourne was paid off in 1987. The surviving Phantom FG.21s were turned over to the RAAF to provide spares for the RAAF's Phantom FGR.22 force. The final flight of a Phantom FG.21 in RAN markings was at the Australian Bicentennial Airshow in 1988.

    Notes

    There is also an RAN F-4K available wearing US-style schemes and a camouflage scheme based on that used by the RAN's A-4Gs late in their service. It can be integrated with this mod. Note that this mod has a different aircraft name. The name of this mod is "F-4K Phantom FG.21 (RAN)", while the US-style version is named "F-4K Phantom II (RAN)".

    History

    The idea for this aircraft comes from my alternate history site. It was first operated by this alternate Royal Canadian Navy in 1968.

    The RAAF's primary strike aircraft for the sixties was the F-105 Thunderchief. During the Vietnam War, the RAAF used its Thunderchiefs to strike targets of strategic importance to the Saigon Fascist regime. However, German air defences in South Vietnam had taken their toll on the Thuds. With the F-111C suffering serious delays, the RAAF took what was available, the F-4 Phantom. This aircraft had just been introduced by the Royal Australian Navy. In Vietnam, the Phantom enjoyed a high level of success, and showed its multi-role capacity.

    With the delivery of the F-111s, and their work up to full operational capability, the RAAF needed to find a mission for its Phantoms, or a buyer. The RAAF recommended early replacement of most of its F-104 Starfighters. The Government accepted this option, and the F-4M served as Australia's front line tactical fighter until the mid 1990s.

    The wikia article for the aircraft itself is found here:
    - http://themarshall.wikia.com/wiki/Miscellaneous_Cold_War_technology#McDonnell_Douglas_F-4K.2FM_Phantom

    Installation

    Copy the contents of the ModFolder folder into your mod folder.

    Notes

    There is also a version with RAF style skins. The two can be integrated together, however the RAF style version has a different name, F-4M Phantom II FGR.22.

  21. F-4M Phantom II FGR.22 - Royal Australian Air Force - RAF schemes

    Introduction

    The F-4M Phantom II (Phantom FGR.22) for the Royal Australian Air Force.

    There are three versions of the F-4M in this mod.
    TK's F-4M in RAF camouflage with Type A and Type B roundels. Squadrons represented include 2SQN, 3SQN, 12SQN, 30SQN, 75SQN, 76SQN, 77SQN, and 79SQN. TK's F-4M_75 in RAF camouflage with Type A and Type B roundels. Squadrons represented include 2SQN, 3SQN, 12SQN, 30SQN, 75SQN, 76SQN, 77SQN, and 79SQN. TK's F-4M_80 in RAF camouflage with Type A and Type B roundels and Barley Grey. Squadrons represented in RAF camouflage include 2SQN, 3SQN, 12SQN, 30SQN, 75SQN, 76SQN, 77SQN, and 79SQN. Squadrons represented in Barley Grey include 3SQN, 30SQN, 75SQN, 76SQN, 77SQN, and 79SQN.

    History

    The RAAF purchased the F-4M in order to support a large Commonwealth commitment to Malaysia and Singapore against the aggression of the PKI regime in Indonesia. The F-4M was initially intended to fit the gap between the RAAF's Mirage IIIO and BAC Eagle (TSR.2). In the event, the F-4M replaced the Mirage completely. The F-4Ms remained in service until the mid-1990s, when they were replaced by F/A-18 Hornets.

    Installation

    Copy the contents of ModFolder into your mod folder.

    Notes

    This aircraft can be combined with the US style skins in the another mod. The aircraft names are different. This mod add "FGR.22" to the name (in the British style), while the mod with US style skins is simply named "F-4M Phantom II".

  22. [Fictional] English Electric Canberra B.Mk.53 'IDF'

    English Electric Canberra B.Mk.53 'IDF' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2

    This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire Canberra B.Mk.6 to create a fictional export version in service with the Israeli Air Force during the 1956-1973 timeline.

    The Canberra had an unusual offset cockpit and large frameless canopy and Kesselbrut's cockpit captures this perfectly. If you use the cockpit toggle function you'll effectively see the bomb aimer's point of view and, with a bomb selected, you'll see the IDF's top secret bombsight! You are recommended to try bombing from medium-high altitude (in a shallow descent) using this very accurate bombsight but don't forget to open the bomb bay doors!

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the Canberra53 folder into your Aircraft folder.

    CREDITS

    Thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim (I wish it was still being further developed).

    Special thanks to Kesselbrut for the Canberra cockpit to which I've added a new bombsight tga.

    And thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community.

    Regards

  24. [Fictional] Sukhoi Su-9 'Fishpot-B' North Korea

    Sukhoi Su-9 'Fishpot-B' (North Korea) for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2

    This is a very simple mod of the DLC Third Wire Sukhoi Su-9 to create a fictional export version in service with the Korean People's Army Air Force during the 1961-1999 timeline.

    Obviously, you'll need the Third Wire Su-9 from the AI Plane Pack 2 (a lot of fun $3.99). Stary's excellent Su-9 pit is included as is the AA-2NK missile, a patriotically colourful licence-built export version of the AA-2 'Atoll'.

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the Su-9_NK folder into your Aircraft folder.

    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the Su-9_NK folder into your main Decals folder.

    3. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop the AA-2NK folder into you main Weapons folder.
