Bell UH-1H Iroquois This is a third party add-on of Bell helicopter model UH-1H used by US Army Aviation and many many countries around the world. It is designed for and works only in SF2 series. And will never work in SF1. ************************************************************* This is FREEWARE-DONATIONWARE and it CANNOT be distrubuted unless permissions are granted by myself. The original readmes, if any, and all other pieces of the package MUST remain intact. The names of all contributors, modders, suppliers, etc =MUST= be listed in any new readmes. This package and any part of it may NOT in any way, shape or form be used in any payware additions. Bribes and donations are accepted; ************************************************************* ************************************************************* THIS AIRCRAFT MOD OR ANY PART OF IT MUST NOT BE HOSTED OR POSTED FOR DOWNLOAD ON ANY OTHER WEB SITE WITHOUT MY EXPRESS PERMISSION, OR USED FOR ANY OTHER PURPOSE THAN THIRDWIRE FLIGHT SIMULATORS, AND MUST NOT BE SOLD OR OFFERED FOR SALE BY ITSELF OR WITH ANY OTHER FILES OR MODS. ************************************************************* Jarek Hereda --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copy all files to specific folders in your game mod directory. ANIMATION 1 & 2 - cockpit doors. open bomb bay - open cargo doors - you will figure out why/how etc. This is beta file. Some small ini edits might be needed. I was planning to make it bigger but I've lost 'thing' for it..but of course you can play with it. For now and in near future I will not work on it - so honestly, I am abandoning it. Better to share than keep it on a hard drive. Aircraft include my generic Bell Huey cockpit. Pack includes one helicopter with 1 very generic skin and PSD templates so anyone can create any skin desired. Flying. As with all my previous helos flying is quite easy. With little practice, you can even hoover. Without fake flaps and airbrakes. Important here to control is using rudder and vector thrust control. Normally throttle vector control on 88-89 degree increase power 55% wait little and then increase to 100% and helo will take off nicely. Have fun. Hope you will enjoy it same as me when working on it. Edit and report bugs. Jarek Hereda. -

"Operation Desert Storm" for Strike Fighters 2 This package contains an updated, "Strike Fighters 2" compatible version of the "Operation Desert Storm" mod package originally released for "Strike Fighters Project 1" (SFP1). In addition to making the original mod compatible with "Strike Fighters 2: Europe" (SF2E), this updated version also adds a number of other mods that were released in the years subsequent to the original release of this mod for SFP1. This mod package should be installed to "Strike Fighters 2: Europe" (SF2E) installations (or merged installs incorporating SF2E) that are patched to the Mar2012 or later patch level. If you are running SF2E at an earlier patch level and do NOT intend to update to one of the later patch levels mentioned above, you should NOT install this mod package. Note that this is a COMPLETE mod package. There is no need to install the original "Operation Desert Storm" mod for SFP1. If you have installed the previous SF2 version of ODS, it is recommended that you NOT install this refreshed and updated version over that earlier version. Create a new install. NOTE: this mod is distributed as set of THREE 7zip archive files. If you did not download all three 7zip packages from CombatAce.com, then this mod will not work properly. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Minimum Requirements ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To install and play this mod, you must have the following installed: SF2 VERSION: Strike Fighters 2: Europe (SF2E) PATCH LEVEL: Mar2012 or higher This mod does support installations that include "Strike Fighters 2: North Atlantic" (SF2NA), however, SF2NA is not required. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Update Notes ~~~~~~~~~~~~ This mod package is a refreshed and updated version of the original version that was released in April 2012 on CombatAce. It incorporates all the updates included in the "Update 1" package released on CombatAce in January 2013. It also includes further updates, fixes, and additions beyond what was included in the "Update 1" package. All told this refreshed version of the mod includes the following major additions to the "Operation Darius" mod package: - new aircraft: H-6D, Mi-8 Hip, IL-76, IL-76B2, NimrodMR1, SH-3D - new SF2NA aircraft: EA-6B_86, A-6E_90, E-2C - new optional aircraft: A-10A_87, Mirage5AD, Mirage5EAD - new aircraft models: F-1CR, F-7B, F-7M, F-16C_B30, F-16C_B40, F-117A, JaguarA3_DS, Mirage2000EAD, Su-25 - new ships: USNTransport ...plus numerous other fixes, updates, and skin additions to dozens of aircraft and ground objects. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Installation ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Before installing this mod package, please ensure the installation of Strike Fighters 2 that you intend to use is updated to at least the Mar2012 patch level. The latest patches for Strike Fighters 2 can be downloaded from ThirdWire: http://thirdwire.com/downloads.htm Also, please be aware that the mod requires "Strike Fighters 2: Europe" (SF2E). This mod can be installed to SF2E installations that incorporate "Strike Fighters 2: North Atlantic" (SF2NA). If SF2NA is part of your target install base, there are some additional items for you to install. The main installation process consists of three main steps -- or, four if your target install base incorporates SF2NA. Please read the following instructions carefully and follow them religiously. If you wind up with a non-working mod install, then you likely failed to follow the instructions properly. ----------------------------------- * STEP 1: PREPARE THE MOD FOLDER * ----------------------------------- This mod requires a separate mod folder. Please do not attempt to install this mod over or combine it with other mods such as NATO Fighter 4+ or the SF2V Expansion Pack. - Open your SF2 Installation directory and make a copy of StrikeFighters2 Europe.exe or StrikeFighters2 NorthAtlantic.exe (if your target install base includes SF2NA). Rename the copied .EXE file to StrikeFighters2_ODS.exe (or whatever unique name you prefer). - Run the newly copied and renamed .EXE file, then exit back out to the Windows desktop after navigating through a few menus. A custom Mod Folder for your "Operation Desert Storm" mod install will have been created in one of these locations: Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\ThirdWire\[YourModFolder] Windows Vista: \Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\[YourModFolder] Windows 7: \Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\[YourModFolder] ...where [YourModFolder] matches the name of the copied .EXE file that you created. You will install the "Operation Desert Storm" mod files to your Mod Folder. - Open your Mod Folder and delete the \Objects sub-directory (including everything in it). Now you're ready to install the "Operation Desert Storm" mod proper. ------------------------------------------------- * STEP 2: INSTALL MAIN COMPONENTS TO MOD FOLDER * ------------------------------------------------- This is the easiest step. - Unpack the three "SF2 ODS" archive packages to a temporary location on your hard drive. - Move the contents of the \To_Mod_Folder directory from all three unzipped packages to your Mod Folder (created in Step 1 above). (Note: do not simply drag and drop the folder named "To_Mod_Folder" or you will end up with a non-working install.) If you've moved everything correctly, you should have a new \Objects sub-directory in your Mod Folder, along with a few new other sub-directories. ---------------------------- * STEP 3: EDIT OPTIONS.INI * ---------------------------- This last step involves a bit of text editing, so please pay attention. Open the Options.INI in your Mod Folder. Locate the "Instant Action" section and replace it with the following: [instantAction] AircraftType=F-15C MissionMap=DS StartTime=05:30:00 StartDate=01/19/1991 StartTimeDeviation=120 TextureSet=0 NationalMarking=0 SquadronMarking=0 AircraftNumber=0 KillMarking=0 Just below the "Instant Action" section is the "Single Mission" section. At minimum you should change the EndYear= statement to 1992 or higher. I recommend setting the StartYear= and EndYear= as follows: StartYear=1990 EndYear=1992 Finally, a little further down you should find the "Campaign" section. Replace it with the following: [Campaign] CampaignName=19910117 Desert Storm PlayerService=USAF PlayerUnit=336th TFS AircraftType=F-15E Difficulty=NORMAL Length=NORMAL AircraftSupply=NORMAL WeaponSupply=NORMAL LoadCampaign=FALSE CampaignSavename=DefaultCampaignSave Save your changes and close the Options.INI file. -------------------------------------- * STEP 4: Extra Step for SF2NA Users * -------------------------------------- This last step is for those whose install base include "Strike Fighters 2: North Atlantic" (SF2NA). Included with this mod are a number of custom files that allow SF2NA users to enjoy some of the new functionality included with SF2NA, including: - Updated F-14 cockpits and avionics that use the new AvionicsF14A.dll included with SF2NA; - Carrier battle groups in campaigns - SF2NA US Navy ships that are restricted to actual vessels that participated in Operation Desert Storm. - New mission types in campaigns, including Escort_Jamming missions for the EA-6B and EF-111A (AI only) as well as Early_Warning missions for the E-2C and E-3A. TO INSTALL: drag and drop the contents of the \_For_SF2NA folder into your Mod Folder, allowing Windows to merge and overwrite any folders and files it prompts to. * * * * * THAT'S IT. Your ""Operation Desert Storm" for SF2" mod should now be ready to use. You may consider installing some of the "optional" items as described in the next section. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Optional Installs ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This mod includes a number of optional files that you can add to your Desert Storm installation. Note that some of the following optional installs require you to have other ThirdWire products beyond those listed in the minimum requirements. A. SF2NA Tomcat Updates Included in the \Optional\3W_F-14s folder are some optional items that you may consider installing, if your installation base includes SF2NA. Included are: - DATA.INI files for the F-14 Tomcats that use the ThirdWire flight model - COCKPIT.INI and AVOINICS.INI files for the Tomcats that use the ThirdWire cockpit To use these files simply drop them in the appropriate F-14 folders in \Objects\Aircraft. (Note: the *.TMF versions of these files are copies of the files you replace when using these optional files.) B. Optional Aircraft 1. A-10A_87 Included in the \Optional\Aircraft directory is an optional A-10A Warthog, using a new model and released by Spectre8750. To install it, simply copy the \A-10A_87 folder to the \Objects\Aircraft folder in your Desert Storm Mods folder. Once installed this A-10A version will be used in campaigns in lieu of the stock A-10A_78. 2. Mirage 5AD & 5EAD Also included in the \Optional\Aircraft directory are two aircraft used by the UAE -- the Mirage 5AD and Mirage 5EAD. Please note that these aircraft require you to have the following additional products from ThirdWire installed as part of your base installation: - Mirage 5AD: Mirage 5D from Strike Fighters 2 Israel (SF2I) - Mirage 5EAD: Mirage IIIO from DLC #17 To install these aircraft, simply copy the \Mirage5AD and \Mirage5EAD folders to the \Objects\Aircraft folder in your Desert Storm Mods folder. These aircraft are not used in campaigns but will be available for single missions. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Note on Anti-Ship Missiles ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For this mod most third-party (i.e., non-stock) anti-ship missiles have been converted to use the ASM/cruise missile functionality introduced w/ SF2NA. At the same time, the older versions of these missiles have been preserved, as the new ASM cruise missiles can be used by AI only against ships. So, for many anti-ship missiles you will now find two versions: 1) "Standard" guided version These versions are the "old" style missiles setwith WeaponDataType=1. They can be used by AI against land and sea targets. These missiles retain their familiar names (e.g., AGM-84D Harpoon, Kh-59M Ovod, etc.). 2) ASM/cruise missile version These versions utilitize the new cruise missile functionality set by WeaponDataType=7. They can be used by AI only against ships. These versions can be distinguished by their names: - U.S./NATO missiles have the ASM tag (e.g., AGM-84D Harpoon ASM). - Soviet/WP missiles follow the naming convention used by ThirdWire's Soviet cruise missiles (e.g., Kh-59M AS-13 Kingbolt). At the same time aircraft that typically carry these missiles have been updated to accommodate the ASM versions. Loadouts for these aircraft have been updated to use ASM versions by default for Anti-Ship, Naval_Attack, and Cruise_Missile loadouts. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Note on Laser-Guided Bombs (LGBs) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ AI pilots in Strike Fighters have long had problems employing LGBs. AI pilots in the player's flight can drop LGBs, but will treat them as dumb bombs. AI pilots in flights not controlled by the player (i.e., AI-only flights) cannot use LGBs at all, and will typically get stuck circling the target. To address this problem I have created EOGB versions of all LGBs for AI pilots to use (AI pilots have no problems with EOGBs for some reason). These AI versions are identical in all respects to the LGB versions save for the Guidance Type, which is set to "Electro-Optical Guided" instead of "Laser-Guided." By default aircraft that use LGBs for certain loadouts (usually Stike, Attack, SEAD, or Anti-Ship) are loaded with these AI (EOGB) versions instead of the LGB versions. You should make it a habit to check the Loadout screen and switch the bomb version on your own aircraft to the LGB version. You can distinguish between the AI (EOGB) and LGB (Player) versions by the weapon name -- for example: LGB version: GBU-12D/B Paveway II LGB AI version: GBU-12D/B Paveway II (AI) While this solution introduces an extra step for the player in the preparation to start a mission, it allows AI pilots and AI-only flights to use these weapons. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Note on the Water Shader Effect ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This updated version of ODS for SF2 implements a different water shader effect from Fubar512, replacing the water shader effect from the original release that caused costal tiles to have an odd, shimmering appearance. If you run into problems with this replacement water shader, do the following: 1) Remove the following files from the \Terrains\DS folder: DiffuseMap.tga WATEREFFECT.FX WaterNormal.tga Water.dds WNormal16.tga TERWATEREFFECT2.FX At this point, the game will revert to using the stock SF2 watershader and WaterNormal.BMP. If you wish to restore the water shader used in the original release of this mod, proceed to the next step. 2) Restore the water shader effect from the original release by unpacking WaterEffect_Fubar512.zip (found in \Terrains\DS\_Water) to the main DS terrain folder (\Terrains\DS). If you later decide you prefer the new water shader effect included in this updated version of the mod, simply unpack WaterEffect_V1.zip (found in \Terrains\DS\_Water) to the main DS terrain folder (\Terrains\DS). If you do encounter problems with this replacement water shader effect, please report them to the forums at CombatAce.com. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Changes, Fixes, & Additions ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This mod is a conversion and upgrade of the original "Operation Desert Storm" mod released for SFP1. This version incorporates the following major updates and additions over the original: New Aircraft ------------ A-6E_90 F-15D MiG-23BN_IRQ A-10A_87 F-16C_B40 MiG-23MF_IRQ AC-130U F-16C_B40_RBAF MiG-23MLAE_IRQ AH-64A F-1CK MiG-23MS_IRQ Buccaneer-S2B F-1CR Mirage5AD C-130E F-1EDA Mirage5EAD C-130H FA-18C Mirage2000C C-130K H-6D Mirage2000EAD C-130K-30 Hawk65 NimrodMR1 E-2C IL-76/B2 SH-3D EA-6B JaguarA3_DS Su-20B EA-6B_86 KA-6D Su-22 EC-130H KC-130F Su-22M F-7B/M KC-135A Su-22M3 F-14A+ KC-135E Su-22M4 F-15C_RSAF Mi-8 Su-25 Upgraded Aircraft * ----------------- A-10A_78 F-14A F-117A A-4KU F-15C JaguarGR1A_DS B-52G F-15E MiG-25PDS EF-111A F-16C_B30 Tornado_GR1_DS F-4E_86 F-111E Tornado_GR1_RSAF F-7A F-111F Tornado_IDS_IT * The above are aircraft that were either converted to newer models or that received major upgrades of some kind. All aircraft from the original version of this mod were updated or tweaked in some way -- at the very least for SF2 compatibility. New Ground Objects ------------------ AH-64 CG-59 M167-VADS AMX-30 CG-60 Iowa80s AMX-30B2 CGN-25 M1939 Arab_DSHK Chieftain2 M1939_G Arab_DSHK_G Chieftain5 PAC2_AMG Avenger Chieftain11 PAC2_LS CG-16 CVN68 PAC2_RS CG-47 Humvee RolandRad CG-52 Humvee_M1025 USNTransport CG-53 Humvee_M1046 ZPU-1 In addition to the above updates and additions, the following major changes were made: - All aircraft brought up to SF2 standards - All naval aircraft made SF2NA compatible - All ground SAM & radar ground objects brought up to SF2 standards - All ships made SF2NA-compatible - All weapons & guns converted to SF2 format - All major modded INIs made SF2 compatible - All effects made SF2 compatible - DS terrain made SF2 or SF2NA compatible - Overhauled "Desert Storm" campaign - Added Red-side "Mother of All Battles" campaign Please note that the above list does not constitute an exhaustive change log, as this update incorporates too many minor fixes and tweaks to list or account for here. Suffice it to say that this version of "Operation Desert Storm" for SF2E represents a major overhaul of the original mod for SFP1. ~~~~~~~ Credits ~~~~~~~ This release adds a number of new items to the "Operation Desert Storm" mod package. 1 pointHiya all, I've been loving playing around with Dan's A-4Ks, so here are some .ini edits for custom rocket loadouts that people might enjoy: These custom 'rocket' TERs are fake electronic pods. I've used fake fuel tanks in the past, but read in a thread recently that the fake tanks may increase the vulnerability of the model to enemy ordnance, so to be on the safe side, I've converted to fake EPs (which work just as well): Triple centre station RPs and mixed-twin wing station RPs all selectable from the loadout menu: These were all authentic RNZAF loadouts back in the day - at least for public displays and firepower demonstrations. With these custom weapon stations, all nine RPs are filled with a full complement of munitions, and are selectable all-at-once from the cockpit (unlike 'left-and-right' multi-pods). This setup sacrifices LAU-7 rails for the 'winders (which some of my other custom stations include) due to the game limit of 6 StationGroupIDs; I don't mind so much since this is the A-4K (70) and the RNZAF didn't get AIM-9s until July 1975 (Don Simms) so I don't normally use them with this model -- AIM 9s are still selectable for the outboard wing stations of course, just minus the LAU-7s which is the same as stock TW, so no harm, no foul. This Mixed RP and Fuel loadout is a bit more practical(!); selectable from the loadout menu for any mission, but a really nice loadout for SEAD missions with a mix of artillery and armoured targets: Here's the code for anyone who is interested: // --------------------------------------------------------- [LeftPylonRack] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=6 StationGroupID=2 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=-1.91,0.10,-1.00 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 EjectVelocity=0.0,0.0,-2.0 LoadLimit=200 AllowedWeaponClass=EP AttachmentType=NATO,USN ModelNodeName= PylonMass=31.75 PylonDragArea=0.03 SpecificStationCode=A4RNZAF_TER [RightPylonRack] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=7 StationGroupID=2 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=1.91,0.10,-1.00 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 EjectVelocity=0.0,0.0,-2.0 LoadLimit=200 AllowedWeaponClass=EP AttachmentType=NATO,USN ModelNodeName= PylonMass=31.75 PylonDragArea=0.03 SpecificStationCode=A4RNZAF_TER [LeftWingStationTwin1] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=8 StationGroupID=4 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=-1.91,0.10,-1.24 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 EjectVelocity=0.0,0.0,-2.0 LoadLimit=360.0 DiameterLimit=0.44 AllowedWeaponClass=RP AttachmentType=NATO,USN PylonMass=0.00 PylonDragArea=0.00 [LeftWingStationTwin2] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=9 StationGroupID=3 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=-2.05,0.10,-1.01 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,45.0 EjectVelocity=0.0,0.0,-2.0 LoadLimit=360.0 DiameterLimit=0.44 AllowedWeaponClass=RP AttachmentType=NATO,USN PylonMass=0.00 PylonDragArea=0.00 [RightWingStationTwin1] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=10 StationGroupID=4 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=1.91,0.10,-1.24 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 EjectVelocity=0.0,0.0,-2.0 LoadLimit=360.0 DiameterLimit=0.44 AllowedWeaponClass=RP AttachmentType=NATO,USN PylonMass=0.00 PylonDragArea=0.00 [RightWingStationTwin2] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=11 StationGroupID=3 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=2.05,0.10,-1.01 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,-45.0 EjectVelocity=0.0,0.0,-2.0 LoadLimit=360.0 DiameterLimit=0.44 AllowedWeaponClass=RP AttachmentType=NATO,USN PylonMass=0.00 PylonDragArea=0.00 [CentrePylonRack] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=13 StationGroupID=5 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=0.00,0.27,-1.04 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 EjectVelocity=0.0,0.0,-2.0 LoadLimit=200 AllowedWeaponClass=EP AttachmentType=NATO,USN ModelNodeName= PylonMass=31.75 PylonDragArea=0.03 SpecificStationCode=A4RNZAF_TER [CentreStationTriple1] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=14 StationGroupID=6 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=0.13,0.10,-1.04 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,-45.0 EjectVelocity=0.0,0.0,-2.0 LoadLimit=360.0 DiameterLimit=0.44 AllowedWeaponClass=RP AttachmentType=NATO,USN PylonMass=0.00 PylonDragArea=0.00 [CentreStationTriple2] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=15 StationGroupID=6 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=-0.13,0.10,-1.04 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,45.0 EjectVelocity=0.0,0.0,-2.0 LoadLimit=360.0 DiameterLimit=0.44 AllowedWeaponClass=RP AttachmentType=NATO,USN PylonMass=0.00 PylonDragArea=0.00 [CentreStationTriple3] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=16 StationGroupID=6 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=0.0,0.27,-1.28 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 EjectVelocity=0.0,0.0,-2.0 LoadLimit=360.0 DiameterLimit=0.44 AllowedWeaponClass=RP AttachmentType=NATO,USN PylonMass=0.00 PylonDragArea=0.00 All the best, KB

1 pointNinth DiD Mission for Ltn. Fritz Müller, Palestine theater, following the 20 Rules for DiD --- October 6, 1918 "We were bogged down by inclement weather for two days north of Damascus at our makeshift camp and only made our escape to Aleppo, by air, on the 29th of September. On the first of October Damascus had fallen to the English. The aerodrome slightly south of Aleppo, where we are presently situated, is a pleasant one. There are several Albatroses of the D.III variant here, with Ottoman markings. Some are in disrepair but it is a fairly busy place nonetheless. The local flight officer, Hauptmann Hans Brüker, is a jovial fellow and gets along well with Von Wincklermann. I and Nowotny had not been assigned a mission for several days and usually we would spend our free time doing acrobatics over the aerodrome in the improved Albatroses brought over from Jenin. Von Wincklermann and Logan-Ritzer in the meanwhile have been doing a few reconnaissance flights further south, to keep track of the movement of British troops that are now located 30 kilometers or so north of Damascus.* Today I was finally able to fly a mission, an early morning defensive patrol in good weather, to be accompanied by my flight officer and Logan-Ritzer in their Rumpler. We ascended to about 1300 meters, engaged in a wide turn south of the aerodrome, and already spotted a Voisan, lumbering Martinsyde, and stub-nosed scout approaching from the west, on the level. A melee immediately developed and lasted nearly 15 minutes I would say. Our Rumpler initially managed to get some shots into the Martinsyde but then the lumbering type turned the tables and began chasing the Rumpler, putting some shots into his tail. I was too busy with the Scout Experimental now and could not come to the Rumpler's aid. My opponent was a seasoned airman and specialist at the slashing attack, often accelerating away and doing wide turns to come back at me. Using the better maneuverability of my mount, I eventually got into a position to disable his rudder, whereupon his turns became rather sloppy. A few minutes later his engine began to emit smoke, to my delight, but the fire was put out in a prolonged dive. We then went at it several more times before I sent another few well-placed rounds in his direction. Most likely the pilot had been wounded or killed, for I next saw him side-slipping into the ground, to break into several pieces. While the Voisan had taken advantage of the commotion to float further south over its own lines (for it was nowhere to be seen), the Martinsyde and our Rumpler were still in a fight a couple of kilometers east of me. I quickly caught up using my 170-horse engine, hit the lumbering type's fuselage with several rounds, and then observed its propeller spin down and a small fire erupt from the engine. The lumberer, in this incapacitated state, glided off to the southwest but I did not bother to pursue it. The Rumpler and I rejoined and we proceeded to our aerodrome. The short hop back was uneventful. I landed first, rolled to a stop, and was still in my cockpit unfastening my harness when I saw the Rumpler approach our base. Its elevator was vibrating slightly and it landed roughly, with a slight thud, upon which its engine began to rumble and emit gray smoke. It came to a halt rather quickly but at that moment - how horrible to relate - the engine fire engulfed the entire length of the fuselage of the old Rumpler, and it exploded! Wings and struts flew in several directions, thus marking the end of our flight officer from Jenin and the honorable Carl Logan-Ritzer of tavern poem fame. Nowotny, after hearing the noise, ran out of his tent, as did I clamber down from my cockpit, but our efforts to help were useless. Several hours later only a charred indentation remained and some pieces of the Rumpler's engine, marking the spot where it was engulfed by fire. That evening the flight officer at Aleppo, Brüker, attempted to console us - but our nerves were frayed, with everyone sulking about during dinner and staring at the two empty chairs that were next to the table. 'Most likely,' uttered Nowotny, 'the Rumpler's elevator was weakened by rounds from the Martinsyde; this accounts for the rough landing, and perhaps the fire and explosion. Take consolation in the fact that you did not return empty-handed and have levelled the score, Fritz.' I pondered over Nowotny's words that night in bed. Victories 21 and 22 I would dedicate to the memories of Logan-Ritzer and Wincklermann. But who would inform Steinmann, still at the field hospital, of the sad turn of events? He had telephoned yesterday and requested oranges. I thought about the oranges, to block the explosion of the Rumpler from my mind - and this way fell asleep amid visions of a fruit grove." --- * Aleppo fell to the British on October 25 of 1918, unofficially marking the end of the war in this obscure theater. A formal truce would follow on October 29. While there was hardly any flying from the Germans in the second half of October, the 20 Rules for DiD require, should he stay alive, another three missions from Ltn. Müller. The author of these field reports eagerly awaits those missions, which will bring us up to the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

Sikorsky RH-53D of Iran Navy Ver 3.0 for SF2 This is a third party add-on of late models Sikorsky helicopter RH-53D. It is designed for and works only in SF2 series. And will never work in SF1. ************************************************************* This is FREEWARE-DONATIONWARE and it CANNOT be distributed unless permissions are granted by myself. The original readmes, if any, and all other pieces of the package MUST remain intact. The names of all contributors, modders, suppliers, etc =MUST= be listed in any new readmes. This package and any part of it may NOT in any way, shape or form be used in any payware additions. See the original readme documentation, if any, for further allowances and restrictions Any persons wishing to make further modifications, contact me first. Any persons wishing to make further modifications, MUST remember to put everyone's name in it. ************************************************************* Jarek Hereda ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This mod represents Sikorsky model of RH-53D. 12 aircrafts were ordered by Imperial Iranian Navy. Only six delivered before revolution. Add then all six remained in newly formed Islamic Republic of Iran Navy Aviation. CHANGES: I highly recommend to overwrite previous files decals/weapons/guns- or best is delete the old one and put new files. YOU NEED TO DELETE OLD AIRCRAFT FOLDERS CH-53A and CH-53D_70. Many things were changed and as tested Overwriting may caouse some problems...So delete old ones put new ones. The rest (except Aircraft folders) are same can be overwritten without fear... Small changes in ini files, corrections on fuel loadout, changes in cockpit ini. Small changes in skins. Also No longer fake weapon "no gun" is needed - thanks to The Trooper. He pointed small fix in data.ini. Added simple bump and specular maps. Also added damage tgas. Some changes and rearrangements in the cockpit ******************IMPORTANT****************** FaAkePilot mod neede to run this mod. As always. This addon works with my CargoPACK (included in rar file). All of the weapon stations are made as specific station code and will work only with this cargo pack. Of course, you can edit and use any other weapons available. Standard commands: LANDING GEAR - Nose light deploy/retract at any speed. ANIMATION 1 - right side door. ANIMATION 2 - left hatch cabin windows ANIMATION 3 - wipers outside/inside ANIMATION 10 - Winch Parking animations. Two parking animations included one for 'on land base' and other for 'on board' parking. You can fold tail and rotor by enabling animation in data.ini file. But it looks silly. And my intention for this animation was eye candy on board vessel. With little practice, you can even hoover. Without fake flaps and airbrakes. Important here to control is using rudder and vector thrust control. With heavy cargo load probably you need little run on A model as engines on A are little underpowered. Normaly throtle vector control on 88-89 degree increase power 70% then slowly more and more, wait and it will take off. Cockpits. Newly upgraded cockpit based on NATOPS manual. Mirrors working now and showing correct image. Fuel usage is not super perfect but compared to all previous H-53 models released here fuel gauges are working. Skins. All serial numbers are based on available photos, are historically correct. Weapons. This addon works with my CargoPACK (included in rar file). All of weapon stations are made as specific station code and will work only with this cargo pack. Of course you can edit and use any other weapons available. Here is experimental Mk105 minesweeper sled different than in previous CH-53D pack. This one is only for RH-53D. To see Mk105 open cargo bay. Cargo loads. I am releasing this cargo load in the current condition. So maybe some skins needs to be adjusted. Cargo loads includes few cargo crates for cargo bay and hook, howitzer, MUTTs. Skins for MUTTS - Thank yo The Trooper. IMPORTANT - Due to construction of this mod it is better to use collision and landing on NORMAL setting. On hard, you may have some complications on the airfield - especially with underslung cargo load. Skins. 1977 Imperial Iranian Navy Islamic Republic of Iran Navy Aviation with 3 skins 1979 paint inherited from IINavy, Grey paint introduced somewhere in 90's and late current azure blue salamander camo. Good to add nations ini entry regarding new "nation" created - Islamic Republic of Iran Navy /Imperial Iranian Navy. otherwise, you will have to change nation name to Iran. Pilots - best to use is OldDiego's pilots. Have fun. Edit and report bugs. Jarek Hereda. Thanks. Thanks to everyone who helped me with this. daddyairplanes,331Killerbee,76.IAP-Blackbird. MiG-21bisD german updateprogram (What if) *********************************** ---------------------------------------------------------- I. This mod is written for WoX (a SF2 version will follow later) +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ II. History: In January 1991 the Bundesverteidigungsministerium (ministery of defence of the Federal Republic Germany) decided to phase out all MiG-21 which were handed over after the reunification of Germany and scrap them. Two mounth later ingenieurs of the german DASA company (became later part of EADS) wrote a letter of memorandum to the chairmen of their company. In their memo they stated, that an updateprogram for the MiG-21 would be a profitable cashcow for the DASA company. As reasons for their statement they gave some points: 1. Repair and updatefacilities are already existing with the Flugzeugwerft Dresden 2. Skilled personal is available 3. Good connections to eastern Europe contries are given, because a lot of WP MiG's were repaired and overhauled in Dresden in the past. 4. The eastern european states are attempting to leave the zone of influence of the Sovietunion and will try to become closer to the western alliance. 5. The economic situation of the former WP states is so weak, that it is unlikely, that they will be able to purchase modern western equipment in the next decade. What means, that they will use the weapons they already have for a while. 6. The backbone of the fighter fleet of states like Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Romania is still the MiG-21. Its an easy and cheap to operate plane and it is believed, that this plane will held in operational status till the year 2000. Conclusion: For states which are willing to become members of the NATO and still operating the MiG-21 is an offer of a german made MiG-21 update program a welcome gift. It brings the MiG-21 to NATO standard and helps the economic weak states to operate a significant fighter fleet. To support our selling attempts is is neccessary, that the Luftwaffe must operate the updated MiG-21 in significant numbers over a periode of 5 years minimum. In March 1991 the chairmen of the DASA decided to start a MiG-21 update program. Close informal connections to the Bundeskanzleramt and the MOD changed the fate of the MiG-21 in german service. The former east german Jagdgeschwader 8, based in Preschen, was relaunched under the new name "Erprobungsgeschwader 8". As operating aircraft only the MiG-21bis was choosen. In April 1991, the DASA offered 3 update levels for the MiG-21 with the task to improve the combat capabilities of the plane by minimal changes in original design. The project name was MiG-21bisD. The D stands for Deutschland, the german name for Germany. MiG-21bisD1, electronic update. It consist of the replacement of the RP-22 radar with the italian Grifo-7M, the implementation of an avionics container at the tailfin root, which contains an internal jammer SPS-142, a chaff - flare dispenser and parts of the NATO compatible radio equipment. The weapon system was modified to operate Sidewinder missiles, side by side with soviet made weapons. Only the R-3R missile was withdrawn, because the radar was unable to guide this weapon. The first MiG-21bisD1 was ready in November 1991 and entered the german service in spring 1992. In August 1992 the first MiG-21bisD1 was sold to Poland. MiG-21bisD2, agility update. With this update the MiG-21bis got a pair of canards to improve the agility of the plane, an inflight refuel probe, new NATO compatible radio and a new french made IFF system. The radar RP-22 was slightly improved by better computers, so that the range was increased by 10% and the target quisition time reduced by 50%. The weapon system changes consist only of the Sidewinder implementation. The first D2 was completed in December 1991 and entered german service in summer 1992. First costumer was the Czech Republic in spring 1993, followed by Hungary in summer 1993. MiG-21bisD3, full NATO compatibility. This modification included the MiG-21bisD1 avionic update and the D2 agility update. Additionally the plane plane got a new engine. The old R-25-300 was replaced by the RB-199 Mk.105 which was developed for the Tornado ECR. It was ~ 5% stronger than the R-25 and a good piece shorter. The now existing space was used for a bigger internal fuel volume. In Spring 1992 the first MiG-21bisD3 started for maiden flight, but the program came to a temporary stop, when the british company GEC Marconi Avionics offered their Blue Hawk and Blue Vixen radars to the program. In summer 1992 the implementation of the Blue Vixen was finished and in spring 1993 the plane became able to operate the new american AIM-120A AMRAAM missile. The first MiG-21bisD3 entered the german service in November 1993. It proofed as a reliable, capable and cheap to operate aircraft. In 1993 the "Erprobungsgeschwader 8" was renamed in JG75 "Erich Hartmann". It operated the MiG-21bisD3 and a later D4 update till it was replaced by the first Eurofighter Typhoon in 2004. Poland got the D3 in 1995, Romania in 1996. India showed an increased interesse for a licence production of the D3, but when the USA denied the AMRAAM capability India retreated from program and purchased the MiG-21BISON from Russia. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ III. MiG-19PF *************************************************** I .Credits *************************************************** The basic of my MiG-19PF is the J-6A of Fallout3, which you can find in the Combatace.com downloadsection Modern Era Aircraft/Aircraft of the PLAAF. Fallout3 made a new LOD file, so that an additionally nose section (as in the other MiG-19PF mods) is not longer neccessary. I renamed Fallout3s J-6A.lod file into MiG-19PF.lod and hexedited a little bit. The cockpit is the great MiG-21PFM cockpit made by MAGO & BADGER the BAD. My share of this new bird are modified ini files and a new skin. I made new data.ini on the basic of TK's stock MiG-19S, so the handling of the PF is similar to the S. I also made a new radar by using the datas i have found in the book "Flugzeuge und Hubschrauber der NVA von 1956 bis 1970". Thanks to all whos files i have used to make this MiG-19PF. *************************************************** II. MiG-19 genesis *************************************************** MiG-19 and MiG-19S had no radar. It were pure day fighters. The first MiG-19 with radar was the MiG-19P. It had the same radar (Isumrud1) like the MiG-17PF. In my books i found different descriptions of the armament of this bird. Some sources said it had 3 NR-30 guns, others told me it were only 2 NR-30 and finally i found one source who said it were 3 NR-23. What was correct? I dont know. Because the J-6A-lod file had 3 guns, so i decided to choose 3 NR-30. Maybe it is right, maybe it it wrong. You may change it at free will. My books told me, that the first PF had the same armament like the P, plus 4 rails for AA-1 Alkali (RS-2US) missiles. Later PFs had no guns. Then the PM came with better radar Isumrud 2 and was built in bigger numbers. The last version PN came only in few numbers to the squadrons, because the first MiG-21 entered the service. Widely exported were the MiG-19S and MiG-19PM. As far as i know all other MiG-19 versions were only in soviet service. This plane is a early MiG-19PF with Isumrud1 radar, 3 NR-30 guns and 4 rails for missiles. ********************************************** III. INSTALLATION ********************************************** 1. unzip into your aircraft folder subfolders will be automatically created Thats it! Enjoy flying. ************************************************ IV. THIS MOD IS FREEWARE. COMMERCIAL USE IS NOT ALLOWED. ************************************************* V. MiG-19PM Farmer-E upgrade Ver.2 for SF/SFG/WoV/WoE/WoI and maybe SF2/SF2-V UPDATED to Version 2.0 5/5/09 This is a simple upgrade that will bring this aircraft to the latest patch standards (08 Level) This is ALL the other bits from before complied into a complete package, all inclusive, and is designed to TOTALLY replace any earlier upgrades. The changes implimented herein are mostly in the switching of the Izumrud nose bubbles to a 'pilot seat', ala FastCargo's trick. This will allow it to show on aircraft parked on the line. Included is Mago/Paladrain's cockpit from the Mig-21PFM. While not a perfect match, it's the 'bestest closest fit', and works REALLY nicely!! Other data ini edits remove all 3 gun barrels and the xtra weapons pylon. A new skin, based off my 1024 templates is also included, with the ejection ports and fusleage gun-blast shielding removed. Decal ini edits move the bort numbers aft and make them slightly smaller; meaning they're not -quite- correct, but at least now something will show up on the nose. For those wishing to resking for Czech or Hungarian usage, you'll have to plot the new postions yourselves, as they placed them on the aft fuesleage. The avionics ini has been updated to include an audio-only RWR; not sure of what type, probably some kind of a Serina, but it does work. The cockpit ini has also been modified to use the original style radar and radar display that Pasko created. No other changes have been made to it. So the instructions given in the original 'readme' still apply for target aquisition, tracking and firing. The is the 'Interception Procedures.txt' included in the main folder. You'll also find an updated data ini to 08 standards. I've split the Alkali stations, to allow for a "mixed" loadout of either/or the IR or SAH versions of the AA-1, even though I've turned up nothing that says that a mix could be used. It's part of my gaming belief system "playbility & fun sometimes takes precedence over historicality" (and everyone knows what a stickler I am for historical correctness!!) The original 'box-art' style hangar screen is included, along with a new WoE 'on the runway' version, so you can choose which you like best. It is designed for use with any/all weapons paks, or none. I've incuded the Alkali A & B missiles from the 06 Bunyap Pak; still in their RS-2US and RS-2U naming conventions, in the 'seperate folder' format now usable in all post patch games. For those with SF2 and SF2:V, the weapons data ini for each missile is included in each of the folders. As I don't have these games, you all'll have to figure out the numbering on your own. But, with TKs release of the SF2 weapons editor, this should pose no major problem As always, it's reccomened you unzip this package to a temp folder, or your desktop, to gain access to the rest of this readme for the full, easy to follow install instructions. Happy Hunting! Wrench Kevin Stein -
