My Windsock Data File of the Berg D.1 arrived yesterday, so I spent today tinkering with "accurate" colors. The problem with Austro-Hungarian camo schemes is that almost no reliable information has survived the last 100 years. My 2002 edition of Austro-Hungarian Army Aircraft of World War One deleted the color camo illustrations found in the original 1993 edition because few of the colors could be reliably authenticated. The Windsock Data File has a color photo of a Berg D.1 rudder that has survived, and its colors are less saturated (less vivid) than most of the color references found on the internet. Granted the color pigments have oxidized in the last 100 years, but even so the colors are quite dull and unsaturated. So.....I spent a couple of hours tinkering with my artwork to better reflect the sample shown in the Data File.

The Berg D.I has lovely lines - here are a few pics. of its triplane variant, this one never got beyond two or three prototypes unfortunately. Note the wider-chord bottom wing, in relation to the top and mid wings. Von S

What a difference a week makes. Now there will be at least one JASDF F-35A mission... for more details, go to the mission pak development thread please: Requisite screenshots:

Hi whiteknight06604, Thank you for your kind words, yes, I am planning on doing just that, but I am not good with modeling soldiers so I will see what I can do. if someone has a low poly model and can share it that will be great. otherwise, I just need to learn how to do it.

Well it's winter...was snowing last few days. Seriously. As always I needed to tweak something here and there... so few clicks and ini editing, and I have 3 seasons imported from Korea terrain. Well, it was more than clicks as I needed to re-create new tiles for some areas, made few changes and a few new tiles.

WOI with the expansion pack was just short of being SF2I. Much of the code going into the first SF2 release went into WoI, its patches, and its expansion. WoI with the expansion pack provides a unique situation: it can import the 3d models and textures of the stock aircraft from the early SF2 releases and it also supports multiplayer. However, there were still plenty of bugs in the final patched version which TK never addressed. So, if you don't notice or mind the remaining bugs, it is the most advanced version of the SFP1/WoX series, just short of SF2.

Good point. That would be nice if the terrain came with that. I could always make it June 2020 for that reason alone.

27 Jan. 2019 update: I'm not able to put in a lot of work into this every day, but decided to remove most of the SAM sites from Kunashir Island. I recognize how hard @Gepardworked on the Kuril Islands, but having SA-10s remain on the map so close to Hokkaido Island after an emergency SEAD mission doesn't work for me. You can download the original here: Otherwise, I went into the code and have done my best to remove the SAM sites & SAM shelters from just Kunashir Island. The thinking being I'm pretty sure in a <24 Hour campaign; the AAA won't all be easily eliminated but this way I will only have SA-10s keep harassing jets on take-off & final approach to Hokkaido Island when I the single mission pack creator want them to. After all, most of the air combat is around Kunashir or in the Sea of Okhotsk. With that, some screenshots of the JASDF F-35As storming Kunashir Island to take out the one test SA-10 site & some of the support units I put up in the mission planner: So yes, there is operational testing still underway. Mainly to test the modified map code and relocated SAM sites... to destruction.

@Strikeagle - as with many other sims, for me it's the mods that make Il-2 '46, and thanks mostly to Mission4Today there's more than enough missions and campaigns to get the most from it, albeit outside of WW2 it's overtaken by other sims. SF would have made a very good basis for a WW2 sim, just like it did for WW1 with FE1 and 2, if it had the same quantity and quality of 3d models and textures, maps and campaigns for WW2 as Il-2 '46; but it's not close, so that's that. IL-2 '46 for me is now by a wide margin the best all round WW2 combat flight sim (mods included, there's no point looking at it any other way). With BoB2 still the best simulation of the Battle by about the same considerable margin. Confirmed, CFS3 + ETO expansion has several flyable Blenheims, bomber and fighter, in MkI and MkIV versions: @alienjb42 - yeah I just flew that mission which had 110s masquerading as bombers. That storyline's slightly shaky credibility was stretched to breaking point when the debrief had the post mission chatter crediting the 110s with having 'totally outmatched' the Hurricane (plus saying the German had the 110s and the Defiants - presumably that second 'they've' should have been 'we've', preferably with apostrophes where they should be!). During the mission, the skies were red - with the R/T chatter's text display, which will drive me bonkers if I can't limit or supress it, never mind it's repetitive and refuses to use realistic terms like 'bandit' instead of 'enemy' or 'Leader' instead of 'Commander'. The best I could manage was a 110 damaged... ...at the cost of a windscreen that'll need a bit of attention... The 110 kept obligingly pulling up steeply towards my level again, after each time he went down under fire... Despite trailing glycol or fuel or both, when I ran out of rounds and let him go after a few more roller-coaster efforts, he flew off, level this time, after his distant mates, west up the middle of the Channel, not directly back to base never mind the shortest route back to terra firma. It's like the AI has a fixation with flying its waypoints regardless of being left completely behind everyone else and 50% damaged, as the post-mission stats informed me. Realism isn't just about the accuracy or otherwise of flight and 3d models, it's also about having hedgerows not just tree-rows in SE England and something resembling realistic missions, enemy formation sizes and radio voice procedure. In that respect, CloD's a long way behind Battle of Britain 2, but having settled that in my own mind, I'll carry on with the campaign and see if it can continue to hold my interest, despite the blip in the latest mission

one question please. do you plan on making the D30 as a separate ground object set up in the firing position with a crew? just curious because we can never have enough ground targets. your vehicles so far have been great. thank you.

And one more post for this thread regarding the ver. 9.7 update . Have now re-tweaked all of the Fokk. D.7 data inis for more subtle altitude table data numbers and subtler variations for control surfaces, also combed over the Dr.1 variants too and re-did the alt. table numbers, as well as re-touched the control surfaces, also for the Fokk. D.8. Alt. table data numbers are slightly more refined now than previously for the rotaries, with intervals of about 700 instead of the original 900 meters between power drops...should work well for the Oberursels and gives them about 50-60% of total power at their ceilings, as was typical for many WWI engines, rotaries and inlines (no power curves here dropping to zero as for later piston aircraft but more of a stepped decrease until the alt. ceiling is hit). Will take a short break now before looking over the Aviatik, SAML, and Anatra C.1 - then I have to package everything carefully by folder - hopefully this will all be released by Feb. or March. The packaging is often slower than the modding. Pics below of the OAW Fokk. D.7 and another classic that I need to fly more often since it's so much fun. (The OAW variant is a fine aircraft by the way - it can hold its own although with less power at alts. than the 7f variant...I think Mikael Carlson's D.7 has the 180hp (au) Mercedes typical of the OAW builds.) Just completed a low poly D-30 to add to the MT-LB model. I just need to make some ammo boxes to put on top of the MT-LB. I will have the D-30 as a separated model too.

Adjusted the tints of the colors to simulate a vintage look. May fool around a bit more, but it is close to a balance between "accurate" color and atmospheric color.

alright then, now it's clear. Without Direct X 9.0c you are screwed, the game won't work at all. But, if you wanna have both "worlds" scrubb the Win 10 (in my opinion is not better than Win 7 , it's a Win 7 in it's core , NT nucleus and such, and it doesn't do things better than Win 7, it's just a illusion that it does. Trust me I know what I am talking about) and reinstall the Win 7 64x. I also can play ANY new game I like with Win 7, so...why not having it and play the SF1/SF2 series, eh ? Give it try, you won't regret it.
