I usually start with LOD2, the one you see from about 50-100 meters away in the game. This forces me to focus on the major shapes and proportions before I get into the fine detail. I build the whole plane, start making the skinning templates, get the control surfaces working, then I take it into the game and look at it - from a distance. When I'm satisfied, I save it under a new name and start smoothing the wings, adding details, etc. until the file starts getting too big. The first tail plane you showed is good for LOD2 - You're working on making it smoother, then you're going to have to take detail out again when you start making the LODs. At this point I would move on to the wings, engine, landing gear, etc. and see how it looks with the FE render engine. From my own experience - Don't get distracted by fine detail too soon, or you'll end up having to take it out later - You can see things in 3D Studio that you can't see in the game, so get the plane into the game as soon as you can and only add necessary detail - Trial and ERROR is your friend, sometimes I rebuild the same part two or three times to get it just right - the next plane is always better because I've learned what mistakes not to make.

It's not a surprise that things have progressively gotten worse and will continue to get worse. What is a surprise is that some people heard and believed the warnings while others did not which allowed and often encouraged them to act against their own health and welfare. The issue has never been the quantitative numbers of illnesses versus deaths but instead at what point do we overwhelm our health system so much so that preventable deaths become deaths due to capacity not the virus. We have always known that the finite numbers are those of the ICU beds and medical professionals but only some of us listened and believed those warnings. Now the tough decisions start and someone has to decide who lives and who dies because of capacity and staff, it's absurd we're so hard headed that we'd do this to ourselves yet we did. Wake up folks, together we rise or together we fall, no man is an island in a pandemic. The adage "remove all the warning labels and let the problems sort itself out" is exactly how we were led through the pandemic so it's obvious to some that this is what the outcome would be. Your health is fragile and if you want to remain healthy consider everyone contagious until proven otherwise, wear a mask, wash your hands, socially distance, avoid crowded places especially enclosed locations, and remain vigilant about your hygiene. I pray we all make it out of this alive but the numbers and law of averages are working against us at this point because some of us never understood the risks of becoming sick or even a carrier in this pandemic. Your sickness may not kill you but it could kill or severely affect the lives of others you spread it to. If you haven't heard in the UK they have discovered a variant of COVID19. The virus is mutating becoming a better virus which they believe may have a higher infection rate. That's what forced some parts of the UK into an earlier quarantine yesterday. It's unknown if the mutation posses any additional risks or is resistant to the vaccine only time will tell. My holiday wish for everyone this year is for health and the day we can look back on this time and say we survived it. Be kind to all and remember there are people suffering with loss, sickness, income shortages, evictions, and food insecurity to name a few. Go out of your way to help and be kind when and if you can, America needs us. E

Yes they had to invent a new Tier 4 a few days ago for London and the surrounding area which is where I am..........I wasn't going to see anybody at Xmas anyway (which seemed the obvious thing to do) but Xmas is now officially cancelled outside of VC apps like Skype and Zoom for all in Tier 4.

Comments always appreciated - the 3/4 tail-plane pivot arrangement is circa 1909 to about 1910/11 at the latest. Carlson's Thulin-built XI in the other vid. carries the conventional elevator from about 1911 onwards - and that would have been the typical tail-plane arrangement on most commercially-produced Bleriots from about 1911 onwards (here's one pic., a Swiss Bleriot, with conventional tail-plane: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blériot_XI#/media/File:Oskar_Bider_1913_Bern.jpg). And a nice Youtube clip of conventional tail-plane at work on the Thulin-built Bleriot (an authentic rebuild from what I've been able to find - Carlson found it dismantled in a barn somewhere, in the 1980s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATbV2i9cfQE). I've been updating Heberth's Raptor mod with new skins, loadouts, sounds, etc. The model had been released in alpha stage here: https://combatace.com/forums/topic/66398-wip-mega-thread/?page=3&tab=comments#comment-645422 The aircraft's 3d model is very fine. I also added all released updates shared at the WIP thread, including russouk2004's new normal maps. However, the 3d model misses external pylons! Heberth said he would have released the .max files, but only Modders have access to the Modders Round Table. I would need the help of a 3d modeler to create those, either completing Heberth's shared .max files, or by creating the pylons separately, to be added via Fake Pilot method or as weapons. An FM guru would also be needed; it seems thrust vectoring is modelled, but the animations won't work on the engine nozzles. Here below some screenshots of the work I've done; I added reworked decals from viper63a's Raptor pack (the one using the old, lower poly model by Dels), and I created a fictional YF-22 paint scheme for it.

Sorry to hear that MB, glad you and the family are safe and trying to stay that way. I'm in the same boat excluding the LVL 4 containment. We'd love love to see the rest of the family but the risks are just too high so we're snuggling in over the holidays. Planning on burning lots of firewood, smoking some jerky, making some red chili and pork / beef tamales, and drinking as much Scotch as I can get away with without getting into trouble.

so ... let me get this straight ... THIS aircraft is a copy of an illegal converson??? Making it a second party after the fact of the theft as well??? If this is true, it and any mods for it shouldn't be hosted here at CA. A blatent violation of our anti-piracy policy

The BMS part is free however you need the original 1998 Falcon 4.0 installed first for licensing purposes. Falcon 4.0 can still be got cheaply from places like https://www.gog.com/game/falcon_collection..........currently 49% off.

Your last pic. with the higher poly count is the best one - most of our rigs will be able to handle slightly increased poly counts on the model - no need for astronomical poly counts but, whenever necessary, feel free to increase polys slightly for smoother curves, circles, etc. (In terms of the side-view, the bend, I think it could use some more bend but not at the risk of sharp bends emerging, more of a smoother c-curve if possible - although the s-curve arrangement seen in the relevant side-view pics, and on Carlson's Thulin-built Bleriot, works well too.) Von S Several pics. included below: Indication of where the pivoting rod is, at the trailing edge of the stabilizer, while the elevator should be a separate piece - this will allow the elevators to be mapped as "moveable" once we do all of the ini file crunching for this model. I recommend setting up the elevator as one piece, with that wedge in the middle and elevator attached to the pivoting rod - it can then be attached to the fixed stabilizer -may be simpler that way to model - although, if you prefer the historical way - you are welcome to chop the elevator into two pieces, and they can then be attached to the "pivoting rod" that forms the trailing edge of the fixed stabilizer. End result makes no difference but whatever is easier for you - main thing is to have the elevator (either as one piece, or two) separate from the fixed stabilizer - so that we can make it move up/down in FE2. Here's an approximation of how the curve of the stabilizer should look, from the side. [NOTE: while I don't know much, nothing really, about 3-d modelling - I'm speculating here that if you implement a subtle c-curve, when viewed from the side, to the stabilizer/elevators, and only after that separate the elevators from the fixed stabilizer - and flip the elevators around (left elevator becomes the right elevator, right elevator the left elevator) - we will then have a nice s-curve implemented when the stabilizer/elevators are re-joined along their pivot bar and viewed from the side - and as illustrated in those several side-view pics. I included in one of my earlier posts in this thread.] Elevator control horns, rudder control horns locations, etc. And one more pic. - illustrating location of stabilizer support rods (colored in orange)

For now, I am focusing on the regular armies of the Warsaw Pact and then a few countries that fit into my over Israel, over Iran mod. But also regular armies. Such inferior formations like ISIL and similar have absolutely my disrespect as groups not lead by any code, morals, principals, etc - meaning I am not gonna waste my time for those (even if it is just a game). Meanwhile... finally finished OSA-AKM. and some missiles for it.

Well, as some of you may have seen on the news, things in California, expecially SoCal, have gotten much worse. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/los-angeles-mayor-countywide-emergency-042215116.html as of this morning (or was it Friday?) 11 SoCal counties are at 0% remaining ICU capacity. Will this fucking shit never end???
