Hi everyone! I'm Mariano, the creator of the Argentinian J-10. I'm currently working on the biggest update so far. Version 1.2 will include: - Missiles (PL-9 and PL-12) - New loadout.ini. (The 4xIRM and 4xAHM proved to be more efficient for fighter sweep than the existing 2xIRM and 6xAHM) - Tanks name change. - Fixed avionics. - New racks (I slightly modified the one it has) MAYBE - New data.ini changing the specs of the engine, new radar and modified RCS to emulate the J-10CE. - PL-13 missiles. - Freefall, retarded and guided bombs. - New sounds. Here's a screenshot of how the new loadout will look like... Have a good flight!

I like his LOD Viewer too, as said saves time firing up the game trying to match camouflages on skins. And the ability to refresh it is great, better than the viewer for DCS.

well, for when the skin is, it would be Timothy Dalton. but that airframe was written off in 1981 at Soesterburg. so it would actually have to be Roger Moore and did you change the availability in the textureset on that skin, or did i leave it like that when i sent it to you? i wound up taking a minute to check as i hadnt remembered that exact combo being available (and yes i do way too much research to get to know some of the serials like that) mandatory screenie, or the last few seconds of 007s career (pilot pancaked on runway during Camp Amsterdam airshow, hurt but alive. aircraft written off with not even 100 hours on it)
  7. 3 points
well, ever since he added decals to the LOD Viewer, i damn near never fire the game up as i dont have to check progress nearly as often in game but its soo much better having results viewable with 2 seconds rather than two minutes

I am working on the big project for SF2 and a book with a small team. They have been an excellent teacher too. I learned a lot from them. The project involves two fictional nations. The book contains the detailed information about the nations' background and timelines, flag, squadron, their insignia, various military vehicle inventory, etc. I used to work on the former project for SF2 known as "SF2: Alternative world: Dhimar and Paran expansion". Then I realized several things: 1) Dhimar and Paran are already written by TK, so I do NOT want to override his stories. That way I can be unlimited with my creativity 2) I wasn't prepared. I realized I was lacking in the detailed knowledge about military structure, so I decided to research more about them. 3) I realized that designing two new nations for SF2 it requires a lot of times. It involves writing the stories about two nations (Background and timelines), designing the flags, squadron, their insignia, vehicle inventory, etc. This also involves a lot of researches about the specific countries' cultures, language and their military to get idea for each nations' cultures, language and military structure. I intend to make it semi-realistic with the balances between this world and alternative world. I owe huge thanks to the wonderful modders in this community. They all are the reasons why I am working on this, which lead me to project. Two nations involves the land of Eritrea and another place next to it. I am very fortunate that one of member in this community helped me with the Arabic languages for one of nation's scripts. Now I need the help with Trigrinya languages. Without revealing detailed information about the project I am working on for now, I can share two of squadron insignia: This is for one of nation located in southern Eritrea geographically: (NOTE: Trigrinya scripts may be incorrect. That is why I need someone who know this language to check if they are correct.) English: 5th Squadron “Dragon” Tigrinya: መበል 5ይ ስኳድሮን "ገበል" This is for another nation who have the conflict with this nation. English: Squadron No. 5 "Victory" Arabic: السرب رقم ٥ "النصر" Arabic (English): Alsirb Raqm 5 "Alnsr"

Dear Pilots, Our Mosquito FB Mk,VI for Battle of Normandy is coming along nicely. Some very early WIP shots of it in the engine. Still much support work to do for it still. Will initially be available to fly with 8 squadrons in Career mode. Q. If it's made from polygons is it still a Wooden Wonder? Enjoy!

It is right here................... Agree with all. Every serious SF2 player/modder should have this toolkit. Mue rocks!!
  14. 2 points
Definitely, I'm grateful to Mue for his tools! As a terrain modder, it's just a pity his TOD Editor was never completed; in my view that's the remaining tool we'd need to fully improve and explore the potential of Strike Fighters' old engine.

Well, the good times came to an end. Went after a supply point just SW of Quang To and it was a rough one for a quick in and out strike. Was up with LtJg. Ron Miller and everything was going just as planned until about 10 miles from the coast in point. Flights ahead of us reported SAM activity and sure enough we were able to see launches from two sites SE and S of Quang To. Needless to say, where there's SAM there is AAA. Despite it all we did well until about 10 miles from the target. Two SAMs came up at us from the SE site and only one was a threat which we outmaneuvered by a quick dip at the right time as we saw it coming all he way. The flak started in as we closed on the target and was with us on the way out. Very intense fire. Much more than we expected for the area. It was about 7 miles from the coast when Miller got it. Maybe 10 more seconds and he would have made but that's how it goes. Perhaps if were were using the external tank we could have continued on the the hills and turned south. who knows, no use second guessing ourselves now. It seems from Thanh Hoa north we should be thinking of alternate routes?

I have it, it should still be available in the French Check Six archive, it's just hidden. I could upload it here at CombatACE, but I do not have any contact with the original creators. Will wait for the admins to hear about it. I could also update it for use on SF2.

Had a good one at Thai Nguyen. Was a long haul but it was worth it. Went up with LtJg Phil Sprick and we took the long way at 12,000ft passing east the north of Cat Bi. Heard plenty on the radio but no SAM calls so we had that going for us. As it turns out, AAA was meager during the entire mission. Nice that we can get an easy one see deep into North Vietnam.

While computer hardware can be goofy, Microsoft Windows is always goofy. Just a matter if you use the parts that are broken. In this case, they did something to a function everyone will notice. However, not everyone has the problem. Typical Windows.

Seems like it's time to reiterate what is known to many, and remind others as to what we do and stand for here at CombatAce. I just played the default F-4J Carrier Takeoff mission. I took off, circled back, and landed. The inability to move my head up to see over the nose is a problem, but the workaround is to recenter your view looking a little low, then look up a few degrees. The more you look up, the more your view is move up, so I was able to see over the nose well enough to have almost a perfect landing. It was almost as easy as landing in DCS World. Next, I played the default F-4E vs MiG-21MF mission over the desert. The real advantage of VR over TrackIR is the 1:1 head tracking which allows you to maintain a sense of where your nose is while you visually follow the target through your rear quarter with a smooth motion that is damn near identical to using padlock. I thoroughly enjoyed this fight as much as a DCS World VR fight. This makes SF2 feel like a new game. If only the terrain and cockpits were up to DCS World standards, I wouldn't know the difference from the experience in VR.

I do, too. The SF1 system in this case is not too different from SF2. You were correctly told that you need to extract the SOUNDLIST.ini from the the FlightData cat. After extraction, it will appear in your Flight folder. If you don’t use the SFP1E Extract utility (it can be downloaded here in the SF1 Download section), then just drop this file into your Flight folder. SOUNDLIST.INI Also, in the DATA.ini of each aircraft there are basic sound settings. Something like that: [Sound] EngineSoundName=JetEngine DamagedEngineSound= FlapsSoundName=Flaps AirbrakesSoundName=Airbrakes GearsSound=Gear

Really appreciate viper63a all your hard work to get to this point. As somebody who's read all the Dale Brown novels, it's sure a treat to simulate the F-111 series in air combat. Really fun to go down low and plug in the burners. Also fun dropping multiple precision weapons and once in a while dogfighting. That said, 1) I was so disappointed not to have a CCIP I put your F-111D HUD files in the Objects\Aircraft\F-111E folder. Really like having a CCIP to drop smart bombs since I don't know how to radar bomb. Perhaps spent too much time playing games where I just designated a target and dropped or fired a munition. Or flew the teen-series aircraft where dumb bombs came with a CCIP. So can you please put a CCIP in the E & F models? 2) At night, the F-111 afterburner was quite visible. But I must say otherwise, I rather enjoy the package. One wonders if the F-111 was more, er, economical to keep around how valuable it would have been to have able to drop smart munition after smart munition after 9/11... not that the teen-fighters are a slouch, but still!

Brought Over From the SF1/Wo* Forums ... it's still valid! --------------------------------------------------------- Important Information on File Upload Policies and the Minimum Requirements Thereof: (a small edit, as the post that was originally linked here has mysteriously vanishing into the ether...) At the very minimum, the following is required for an upload here at CombatAce 1) A screenshot of the mod; not a photgraph of the RealLife ™ item, but an in-game shot, so people can see what it looks like. For terrains/terrain mods, a shot of your favorite aircaft flying over the terrain, highlighting terrain features is a good one. 2) A quick, simple description, this is what shows in the Announcement Threads below, describing for WHICH 3W Game series; meaning if for ONLY SF/SFG/WoV/WoE/WoI, or Only SF2 Series, OR is usable in both; what the purpose of the mod (is it a "What If..", or a mod of an original aircraft or mod of another mod, etc) Generally, explain the purpose and intent of the Upload. 3) Inside the uploaded zip, a COMPLETE readme with full instructions on How To Install, if other parts are needed and where to get them; etc. There are several dozens of REALLY good, clear conscise readmes around that one can base theirs off of (I should know - I wrote most of them!) Also, list sources and if using someone else's as a base PLEASE make sure you have permission (as in for TMF Products). If the mod is from someone that has signed the Freeware Accords, PLEASE make sure you list their name, and Thank Them for their Original Work. It's the civilized way, doncha know! Thank you all for you kind attention to details; working together we can only create better mods, and a better 3rd Wire Community! Wrench kevin stein
