8 points53 Years Ago Pan Am Took Its First Boeing 747 Pan Am introduced the 747-100 on January 22nd, 1970. The aircraft would become synonymous with the legacy carrier, bringing a new age of flight to the world. For many, the first time on a plane was with the type due to the affordability and opportunity that came with it. Pan Am initially planned for the 747 to begin flying commercially on January 21st. However, activity was delayed due to technical issues impacting the aircraft that was due to fly. Thus, the next day, another jumbo took the lead. It transported 335 passengers and 20 crewmembers from JFK to London Heathrow to kick off global jumbo operations. More than 1,560 747s have been built since the program began in the 1960s. The last unit of the series is set to be delivered in October 2022, with the final customer being Atlas Air. In the passenger space, the 747-8 is largely keeping the family’s operations going, with the likes of Lufthansa, Korean Air, Air China, and several government departments flying the model. Air China, Air India, Asiana Airlines, Atlas Air, Lufthansa, Mahan Air, and Rossiya Airlines have also been flying the once-popular 747-400 in recent times. When it comes to the 747-100, 168 units were produced in total. Of these builds, 167 were delivered to customers. This variant is still in service. Namely, the Iran Air Force holds a cargo modification. The department also maintains the -200C and 200F. Speaking of the military, the 747 has famously provided the role of Air Force One since 1990. This title is the official air traffic control call sign for a US Air Force aircraft carrying the US president. Overall, the 747, along with other quadjets in the industry, has fallen out of fashion for more efficient twinjets. Nonetheless, the Queen of the Skies is a favorite among the aviation community, giving a sense of nostalgia and pride for many. With over five decades in service, the 747 is truly an icon and will leave a legacy for decades to come. source: https://simpleflying.com/pan-am-boeing-747-52-years/

2 pointsSit rep. I got the green terraintiles from Wilches and added them to the Rio de la Plata Bay terrain. Now we have a wet (green) season and a dry (brownish) season. Then i started to create Base Aeronaval Punta Indio for the Argentinians. So it looks at the moment. There is still a lot to do. The barracks in the middle of the base, the tower and so on. Then i must place the parked aircrafts to the correct positions. Will need some time.

1 pointANKARA (Reuters) – Turkey is set to deliver an undisclosed number of armed drones to Kuwait in a contract worth $370 million, Turkish defence firm Baykar said on Wednesday. “A contract worth $370 million was signed with Kuwait Defence Ministry to export Bayraktar TB2 drones,” Baykar said in a statement. The statement did not reveal how many drones would be delivered to Kuwait or when. “Baykar won out in competition with significant firms from America, Europe and China, in the (bidding) process going on since 2019,” the statement said. It added that with Kuwait the number of countries that signed contracts for the Bayraktar TB2 had increased to 28. Reporting by Yesim Dikmen; Writing by Huseyin Hayatsever; Editing by Daren Butler and Tomasz Janowski. Ps. I guess we need a new texture for the Kuwaiti TB2 drone.

1 pointNot quite this day in history, but more like the history we're living through right now. Kabul Airport, August 2021, and the Afghan population storm the tarmac to try to flee from the Taliban who are taking back the country. US troops try to secure the airport to allow flights to arrive, load and leave safely...

B-2A (Beta) by FastCargo. ********************** Version 0.90 *********************** SF2 Version for Jul 2013 Patch. Original model from tf3dm - 3dregenerator Modifications to import into TW sims by FastCargo Textures and most decals by FastCargo Cockpit, ModPilot, and Aces II seat from B-1B Redux Package by Dels, et al Included weapons from The Ordinance Shop II by 331KillerBee and FastCargo Hanger and Loadout screens credited to the respective individuals Thanks to ST0RM for high res photos allowing me to complete the area around the cockpit Templates for all textures and decals included Any errors are mine... Aircraft include: B-2A - All 21 tail numbers are included in the Block 30 paint scheme (operational). Notes: This release is a beta, and as such, is somewhat incomplete. The cockpit is from the B-1B. A new weapon has been included, the GBU-57 Massive Ordinance Penetrator (MOP). Big boom...but only one per bay. JASSMs have been slightly modded to have more realistic flight performance. The weapon bay loads have been built to realistically hold the proper number and types of weapons the real B-2A could carry. The FM has been tweaked to allow the player and AI to fly with reasonable accuracy. There are still a few bugs...mainly the AI likes to be nose down during the approach and landing. Also, there can be weapon bay visual errors when the AI is dropping weapons (ie the bay doors may not open). The weapon bay errors are limitations in the code that can't be fixed...it has to do with more than one weapon station using the same bay door animation slot. We are still working to squash the remaining issues...and one day we will have a proper cockpit for this machine. Have fun...report any crippling bugs (except trying to use it in SFP1/WOV/WOE/WOI...you're on your own) in the release thread at CA. FC 07 Jul 14 -
