Hmmmm, cant say I've noticed this before, but today because my loading times are pretty long on my heavily modded Vietnam install, I decided decided to throw a copy of the stock SEA terrain in the mod folder as I'm only wanting to checkout the work I'm doing on an F-4B model. Obviously the loading times were way quicker so I'm flying around checking thing out , stopping and starting a few missions when it suddenly dawned on me that the clouds were lower than the mountain tops..............I know there's no trees showing up but if you only fly hi level missions it might be interesting to slam into a hillside like in the old days..

Now 3 new crew mods, 1 for pilots, 2 for gunners(left and right), I found a free low poly model looks similar to HGU-56,so I port to the game, enough for the looking I guess. Of course I still need to remove this weird glossiness. Besides, "The external features of the UH-60L model were essentially unchanged from the “A” model", and as far as I know, only very very early 60As dosent hava HIRSS, so personally I don't want one more standalone variant unless someone really need one.I would probably just differentiate them(A/L) by different values in DATA.ini. My next step is MH-60L/60L DAP, with or without refueling probe.I do like later MH-60Ms but to many modeling work to do.

Rare photo of German F-104Gs during interception training circa 1979. On the left of the pic you can see tracer rounds fired by a third F-104G whose pilot left master arm ON by mistake. Ηe fired only a short burst before he realize his mistake and turned master arm OFF immidiately. Luckily all rounds gone ballistic and there was no friendly fire hit reported.

.LOD in general is not owned by TW, but this is the "umbrella" format of sorts. Some other games used .LOD too, and guess what, they are incompatible with SF2 Generally, I don't recommend this format for open source game as it is a locked format, with no easy editing. Strike Fighters .LOD models are exclusive for Strike Fighters From what I understand, TW is very touchy on the matter of using their 3D assets, so this is a hard no. This is one of the reasons why they choose .LOD format, so no one could touch their precious 3D models On the other hand, modders created tons of decent and great 3D assets for the game, but here comes the issue. All the mods available here are in .LOD too So, you would need their permission and original 3DSMax/Blender/whatever models which would be hard to get. Many modders are no longer active and many original models are lost to time TLDR - if you manage to contact the modders and convince them to share their original 3DSMax/Blender/whatever models, you are good to go. But if you want to work with SF .LOD format, you're out of luck

Hello everyone! A-4 series radar scope have bee re-worked and re-scaled to 1024 for quality and details. However, after talking wiht one of modders, I realized that not everyone have powerful video card, so I am going to create 1024, 512, and 256 version for anyon to choose and sue for their SF2 installations. The templates, in other hand, is 1024 by standard. From there, anyoeno can re-size it to any smaller size too. By the way, after studying the flight manual of A-4E and F, creaetd the new radar scope for A-4E / G and A-4F / H / L. Here are screenshots of A-4E and G radar scope: And A-4F - H - L new radar scope: Eagle114th

I think as a Chinese, I am more familiar with the censorship system than you are, and I also know more about the harm of censorship (this harm is so serious that I have to use VPN to access the international Internet). I don't think your right to criticize the author should be hindered (except for personal attacks). In fact, as an ordinary user, I can't stop any of your comments. It's just my personal opinion that we should be more tolerant of beginners. I think giving effective suggestions is more helpful for beginners to improve their level than simple criticism. If my comments offend you, please forgive me. Please also forgive my poor English. Again, I am just expressing my personal opinion, and I think this is also my freedom of speech.

Your ideas can be easily implemented by using different Nations.ini. I can include such ini's in a Goodies folder, as i have already done it for Faeroer terrain. No problem at all. SitRep: Test for forest tiles with forest to farm transition tiles.

player flown, i use recon for that very purpose. of course the game being what it is, one has to take a brief detour into hostile territory AI flown, there is a transport mission, and when i did alot of my airliner skins i set up an airliner nation, so i could make a formation for it with the wide spaceing you'd expect to see. my thoughts at the time were on having civil planes flying during REFORGER, but same principle over Michigan or the British Isles

to be fair 3d modelling is one of the most time consuming disciplines in game making. opinions will vary with coding and terrain making(level building for non sims) depending on who you talk to.but those are the top three and the effort put into them rather justifies creator defense against someone else making one small change and claiming something new. we skinners, decal artists and simple ini editors are second tier no (matter how good we are) to the modellers, terrain builders and FM gurus

Ladies and Gentlemen, The latest iteration of the Microprose Falcon 4.0 total conversion modification - Benchmark Sims 4.37 U5 - is available for you to enjoy RIGHT NOW! BMS 4.37 U5 requires a legit installation of a Falcon 4.0 (all older and newer versions are accepted alike, i.e. Microprose, Hasbro, GOG, Steam, Retroism). The check is performed both at setup time and every time you start BMS. If no valid installation is found, BMS will exit with a corresponding error message. For those of you who are new to Falcon and still need a legacy Falcon 4.0 license, you’re lucky, as there are various season sales going on. Retroism GOG If you have already installed Falcon BMS 4.37 you will need to launch the “updater.exe” in Falcon BMS root folder (or from the new launcher). Alternatively, you can use the offline incremental installer available on the Falcon BMS Download page. This mod may not be used for any commercial purposes. Any such use may constitute a violation of the intellectual property of Microprose Inc and the non-commercial Terms and Conditions under which Benchmark Sims make this mod available to you. After the update, when starting BMS, the version string in the BMS UI will now read: FALCON BMS 4.37.5 (X64) BUILD 2943 Be advised that experimental arm64 exe are available! A big THANK YOU to everyone in the BMS development team and to the gents from Microprose who made this release possible! Sounds as though you're doing this justice! My father and I were just talking about the F-16 days and how they had so many "assigned". He said there were several on their books but not physically at McConnell due to maintenance, or being on loan to other squadrons etc. Thanks for this, I'm looking forward to these.

I don't know what Cat file the Nations.ini is in, but if you do a massive dump with the CAT Extractor you can get a virgin copy of it, and by following the same format you can add other nations (and new ones) to that file. Then you put it in the Flight folder in your mod folder, and the nations would appear.

But from a development perspective, perhaps some "commercial" resources are more suitable for completing such a project. After all, we will be facing different game engines, and many methods may be completely different. Even only for the appearance, for example in SF2, the number of polygons/vertices of a single part is limited. If it exceeds the limit, even if it can be exported as LOD, there will be problems in the game. Therefore, some high-quality resource, for example, may have 1 million vertices, so we have to split it into 333 parts. If you use something like it directly in other game engines, it may look very weird. If it were me, I would probably take a commercial resource and convert it from scratch into a usable form for your game.

im confused between the title and content of post; the title suggests you want to use TW LODs. but the content seems more like you want to make something new if the third party modellers agree to you using their stuff then its perfectly legal. if they dont, then it is their IP. the issue is that most here dont have the lawyer money to sue someone if their model is used w/o permission. so in practical terms, you'd get banned from CA and mention in the same tones as Capun and YAP if you were to use a bunch of lods w/o permission if your talking TW lods, then of course that is piracy and TK does have the money for a lawyer if caught (whether he has the motivation is another stroy) but what youre talking abut seems to me very much like a Wings Over Flander Field situation; using SF2 as a base engine and then plugging practically everything else in. that might be worth looking at to see if its similar to what youre talking about i dont think you are talking about straight pilfering other lods (which is the holiest of holies for creative content in here). but still be prepared for the nastygram from the other Kevin

Don't bother, that's not how this works. GroundObjectRole=AIRCRAFT does not exist in the DLL, it's not a valid value: https://combatace.com/forums/topic/91802-question-about-the-ground-object-role-function/?tab=comments#comment-742353 Simply put, TK programmed the aircraft's gunners to aim at other aircraft, ignoring anything that is not an aircraft. Without source code, nothing can be done about it.

Thank you very much the quick answer Erik. Will check the PM too. I know we need them and occasionally these do have some usable things in them. That company should hire some people who actually use websites and not just create contents, so functionality/usability is actually works as desired by endusers. Or just have proper quality department so they not need to do 650+updates, etc. Just my 2 cents. Thanks!

Yes, AdSense has been making huge changes and cluttering sites globally with horrible ad placements. As advertisers we can no longer place most ads. AdSense places them on our site based on a bunch of factors for visibility. I have been submitting support tickets for months trying to get this cleaned up but when they fix one thing, they break something else. If we didn't need the ad money for the site, I'd pull AdSense completely until they fix it. I'll send you a PM but thanks for letting me know. Erik

not my site (ownership) and im all about freedom of expression. but i do agree that we need to work with the young bloods starting on this as well. so one could talk directly to him first, then put on blast if he's not willing to try to change (which he actually is, although lessons are admitedly moving slowly) if you tried talking to him before public posting then i completely unequivocally support it. even if you didnt i support your right to bitch in comments, although i might wonder about the content. and i admit, i left this mod alone until i saw you bitch about it ("what's got that Dutchman riled up so bad?" ). and again, im trying to give some suggestions to improve it (for starters credits and scope)

yeah i know 54 is the releatively confirmable single seaters. the two holers will be all one "184th" skin having a dozen more serials. then i have a half dozen that are listed as being Kansas ANG but are a little sketchy imo on actually being there (no pics, timelines in assignments seem a little off)

Not being allowed to openly (and honestly) criticize is almost the same as censorship. Criticism in all its forms is a lesson to improve... Keeping my mouth shut or tempering my words? That will allow for crap to endure, with no chances of improving. CA has so many great mods, we are obliged to keep all content under scrutiny. Forcing silence is forcing decline, and I am NOT here to please people and praise them for mediocre or bad work...

@Muesli The numerous downloads are because this one is split into several files. Just like ODS 30AE is comprised of 4 different files to download, the counter is at least 4 times higher than it should be (not counting failed downloads which are restarted). It doesn't mean that 500 different users downloaded it, just like it doesn't mean that ODS 30AE was downloaded by 6,000 users (in fact, I bet the real number should be in the hundreds, not even the thousands). The download counter probably is the most useless of the stats, it's not a counter about how many users actually downloaded it, it's a number of how many times the download button was clicked (and with mods being split into 6 or 7 parts, it's easy to get a higher number out of a single user downloading it). As for the quality of this package, I agree it's not decent, but the author has respected the site's rules and the modders' wishes (even by compiling one of the most detailed credits list I ever saw). It can only improve over time after suggestions and after the author learns more about modding other aspects of the game. You're free to give a negative review, but please do so without being offensive, or it may have the opposite effect of making other users curious and download what you think shouldn't be downloaded. I'd rather have a messed up mix of mods including other modders' works in here, rather than seeing our own works being re-released elsewhere without consent.

and those missiles on the turret...yeah it will be madness believe me.. And there is no way to work it properly. You can make some walkarounds....check BMP-1P or BMP-2....This is the point where I gave up...anyway, the moment I fly I stick to the cockpit view. But yes when testing and just watching battleground...small things are annoying.

I want to make a MH-60 mod for a long time, maybe call it Project B-Team I guess, and maybe not just make it ground object but also a functional bird? It is possible, but helicopter fm in sf2 make me headache. And then "B-Team" may include MH-47,Z-20,Z-9 some more series, of course. God,I need moooooooooooooooooore then 2 weeks.
