What is New... There are x3 Playable tanks. M-84AS, T-80BV, T-90 MBT Tanks are originally made as Ground models (static), but now are PLAYABLE models. Tanks are equipped with x8 Shell 125MM 9K119M Refleks-M (HEAT) laser beam riding, guided anti-tank missiles. & Standard 125mm D-81K Tank Gun ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ All of this is done, because some Combatace users ask me to make Playable tanks. And i wanted to test the boundaries of Game engine. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What is important to mention? - Strike fighters 2 maps are not made for typical ground Campaign because of that Tanks sometimes want to be "bumpy" when pass over terrain tile boundary layer. -Do not try to pass over watter (tank will get stuck) -Distance from starting position "Airstrip" to the (Primary Target) can't be skipped with (ALT+N) Because of Low Altitude so Player must pass everything on Foot (Tracked Wheels) ! Just do Time Compression x8 (ALT + T) and Speed up ! And of course Turret is in Fixed position, so you need to aim like you use Tank destroyer (etc. Hetzer tank or Sturmgeschutz) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CREDITS ---Third Wire for making this outstanding game--- ---Combatace site--- ODZADZE (me) for making Hangar, loading image, Modified Model ini. files, and for making Ground models (static) as PLAYABLE models also for: Shell 125MM 9K119M Refleks-M (HEAT) modified .ini files Credits by other authors: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (TANK M-84AS) M-84AS by GKABS Nightshade/PR for searching information for the tank blueprint. SF2 F-86F Sabre, 461st FDS, USAFE Skin Pack 11/27/2024 -For SF2, Any and All (Full Merged Recommended) This is a NEW (well, rebuilt) skin for the F-86F-40 Sabre. It is designed to be used on the SF2 F-86F-40 pack available here at CA. As this unit served in Europe (USAFE), it's recommended for a SF2:E installed Sabre. This set represents the 461st Fighter Day Squadron in approx 1956, when they use the "Euro Camo" (dark green/dark gray uppers, PRU blue unders). This skin will replace any earlier versions, as a small glitch at the aft wing root has finally been fixed and repainted. You get 24 historically accurate decals. Meaning: those marked with a star (*) have been postively ID'd as have been used by the 461st. All the others, marked with the cross/plus sign (+), while having served in the 36th Fighter Day Wing, could not associated with a particular squadron. The skin is in jpg format, and decal randomization is TRUE. The SF2 date switch is NOT used. A new skin specific Hangar Screen is also included. As the 461st is a 'stock' squadron, the squadron displayed name is activated via my (patent pending) fake SqTail decal. On the skin selection menu, on the Loadout Page, you'll see: 461st FDS, 36th FDW USAFE (Camo) As is always recommended, unzip to a temp folder or your desktop to give easy access to the rest of this readme for it's install instructions. The Beriev Be-6 "Madge" was a flying boat produced by the Soviet Beriev OKB. It was capable of accomplishing a wide variety of missions, such as long-range maritime reconnaissance, coastal and supply line patrols, torpedo/bombing strikes, mine-laying, and transport operations. The Be-6 was built from 1949 to 1957 at the Beriev plant in Taganrog . <<< This work may not be used in payware projects or in projects that will not be freely distributed under these same terms >>> NOTICE: model still have no moving propellers and the clearance from the ground is higher than should be, because original Model is built as static one and is half-inserted into the ground. also rear gunner is not placed in position (it will be done with next update) ~~~~~~~~~~~ Credits: ~~~~~~~~~~~ ODZADZE for transforming Be-6 Static Ground model into Flying model ! I Edited all ini. files (DATA / USERLIST / LOADOUT / AVIONICS / COCKPIT), Hangar & Loading images... also i do slight changes in Cockpit (Cabina). - 3D model: strahi & Anunk47 (Responsible for Fabulous Static Ground model) - Cockpit: Kesselbrut I also need to thank to Thirdwire & Combatace -

Basic modding skills are required to run this mod. (copy/paste, mod folder structure, etc.) Install: Copy and paste specific folders into the correct destination. A fake pilot is required to run this mod. New model of F-86D and L as used by USAF. Set includes 3 variants which in the game you will find under the prefix *USAF. F-86D-25 Sabre Dog -early variant without assisting drag chute (Block 10-40). most of them were later upgraded to D-45 standard - (block D-16-46) It is named here D-25- - despite differences in block builds 25 was the first to introduce external fuel tanks and was a baseline for further blocks. F-86D-45 Sabre Dog -drag chute equipped variant - (Block 45-60) Named D-45 as it was the first of the line with drag chute housing and some other minor modifications. F-86L-61 Lima Dog - L model - upgraded airframes with data link SAGE system (not in-game) and 6-3 wings. All are rebuilds of D models - (Block 11-60) All skins are in 3072x3072 format. Skins represent all squadrons (71) but three*, USAF Interceptor squadrons that ever used F-86D/L All squadrons have set skins to StartDefaultDate= into a period that particular model/paint scheme was used. * I did not include 3 squadrons as I was not able to find any single reference photo (probably no special markings were used as those squadrons lived for only a few months, but still reference would matter to me) Because this mod was evolving through time, I was not entirely sure how I was going to proceed. So some squadrons have correct serial numbers for a particular year, Others use decals from three decal folders representing airframes build- blk45-50, blk 55-60 and L blk11-61. Some aircraft have some special markings (C.O. stripes etc.) and some have nosearts. Since the serial numbers list is always around 600 airframes it will appear on proper aircraft, You just have to find them in game. I believe that the flight model could be improved for this aircraft. But this is not my cup of tea. There is a small ini change in the cockpit and avionics ini. I changed a little angle of the radar scope. It uses only the Mk4 Mighty Mouse rocket as a weapon. And yes it is possible to fight enemy bombers. Additionally, I added a special "weapon" for D-45 - that will be loaded automatically after 1956 - 'F-86D_sugarscoops' the same as on the L model introduced to remaining D airframes. This is just a visual upgrade, not really a weapon. Credits: The model is new but some parts are based on Zur's F-86H which I was able to work on previously with Wrench. Yours truly - model, skins, decals, research... Weapons: Mk4 Mighty Mouse by Ravenclaw. Have fun. Report bugs. * Expect the unexpected. Live long and prosper. SF2 CAC CA-28 Sabre "What If" Skin & Ini Tweeks Pack 12/14/2024 -For SF2, Any and All (Full Merged Recommended) Herein you'll find 2 new skins for Yakarov's CA-28 'Sabre Dingo' What If aircraft. If you don't already have it, you can find the aircrft at the following URL: https://combatace.com/files/file/18369-what-if-raaf-ca-28-sabre-dingo/ Historically, the Real World (tm) CA-27 Sabres were exported to the Indonesia Air Force (TNIAU) and the Royal Malasian Air Force (AURI). Following that logic, this is what this package does. On the skin selection menu, on the Loadout Page, you'll see: No.14 Sqdn TNIAU Royal Malaysian Air Force (unlike the CA-27 "Avon" Sabre, the RMAF units here are NOT repainted from NMF to OD camo. Both aircraft remain in Natural Metal Finish. No squadron was assigned for the RMAF aircraft) The SF2 'date switch' is active, even though these skins have a 1978 (Indonesia) and 1968 (RMAF) start dates. These are also defined in the new userlist ini. The skins are in jpg format, all markings are decals. Decal Randomization is "TRUE". Both aircraft's serial number presentation follows historic Real World (tm) style. TNIAU gets 16 aircraft, and RMAF gets only 8. The number sequence is extrapolated from the existing Real World (tm) serials. Several other small changes have been made to various other items, and they're listed in the Change Log. As is always recommended, unzip to a temp folder or your desktop to give easy access to the rest of this readme for it's install instructions. The Change Log List is also in the Notes section. YOU NEED RAZBAM F-102A FOR USING THIS PACK ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I had this reworked F-102A in my HD for a long time. I have combined Paulopanz 's skinpack in RAZBAM with my own improvements. I made a complete rework of the performance specs, engine data, cockpit and avionic mods, new pilots, and ravenclaw weapons with completely new loadouts. There is also - a Vietnam specific version that can fire Air to Ground AIM-4s, converted by me, and SUU-11 pods. - a HAF specific version which is not much more than deleted AIM-26 capability in case X aircraft and a new pilot. Credits must really go to - RAZBAM - Paulopanz - Ravenclaw Known issues - the SUU-11 pods are not placed correctly. I didn't have time to fix it. I hope someone will fix them. EDIT: 1) About the weapons: - For some reason I have Ravenclaw's AIM-4E but not the AIM-4F and AIM-4G. If someone has them, please notify me to include them in the pack. - This is the first actual use of Ravenclaw's AIM-26s. I was really surprised to realize that the AIM-26s were actually used only in the updated F-102s. It is weird that the AIM-26s were not used in the F-101Bs and the F-106s - I have included the AIM-4F also. I cannot remember exactly, but the AIM-4F was actually carried by the F-102A, I am not sure if it was certified for actual combat use or only for testing (F-102s were used as development planes for the F-106). My final conclusion is that the AIM-4Fs were not issued into operational service with the F-102As simply because they were not enough AIM-4E/F/Gs made, barely enough for the F-106A alone. 2) I have not included a READ ME file, which I think I will do in the future. 3) a possible update would fix the SUU-11 issue plus improved avionics, if someone has some suggestions for further improvements please PM me. -

---------------------------------------------------------- STRIKE FIGHTER 2: AVIONICS COMMUNITY PACK (SF2: ACP) v0.2 --------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to SF2: ACP first release of alpha. Before I explain about the pack, I want to express big thank to the wonderful communities and modders of Combatace and Combat Flight Sim Tavern (Discord), including Thirdwire for the simulation. You all are the reasons why this pack exists. I want to use the passions to improve SF2 into higher levle with avionics. This requires a lot of research, reading flight manual, and tons of tweaking in avioincs and cockpit ini, along with countless of testing in-flight in SF2. The mods is not perfect, we do our best with the mods. We do it with the joys of our hobbies! This pack includes the following features: - New gunsight / optical sight - New texture for radar scope and another avionic equipment (See note #1) - Improved cockpit and radar through cockpit and avionics ini tweaks for semi-realism (See note #2) - Templates for gunsight and radar scope - Improves glass texture (If possible) - Accessibility - Optional, includes the AAM firing cue on gunsight for people who can not hear the sounds of missile locking on targets. NOTE #1: Due to the nature of lighting system inside cockpit in SF2 engine, I had to apply the darkness level on top of texture scope, in order, to prevent them from glowing. In templates, you will see "darkness" layer for this reason. NOTE #2: As mentioned in note #1, due to little resources (Information / data) on 40s to 70s radar, at least half or most of tweaks are based on an educated guess. For exampe, AN/APG-33 radar that is used with E-1 FCS in F-89B and C, there are some data on it, but no data on elevator nor azimuth angle limitation. F-89D, in other hand, with E-6 FCS and AN/APG-40 radar, there are several data, which is applied in .ini files tweaks. --------------------------------------------------------- TEMPLATES There are templates for gunsight, radar, RWR, and another type of avionics assets. It is there so anyone can use it to create their own avionics for any aircraft. --------------------------------------------------------- Avionics overhaul for Historical vs fictional aircraft I am dong overhaul for both historical and 'what if' fictional aircraft. For example, in this alpha version, there are avionics overhaul for F-8A to F-8K, along with France F_8s. It also includes 'what if' JASDF F-8EJ Crusader. --------------------------------------------------------- Installation: Inside each aircraft folder, there is folder "_AIRCRAFT COCKPIT FILES". Inside that folder, there are two folders "DEFAULT" and "ACCESSIBLITY". You can only use one of them. By default you should install the files from DEFAULT folder. However, if you are Deaf or Hard of Hearing that can not hear the growling sounds of IR missile, then ACCESSIBLITY is for you. NOTE: Make sure you make the backup copies of aircraft folders, in case something goes wrong during the installation progress. Inside DEFAULT or ACCESSIBLITY, for any aircraft you have in SF2, copy the aircraft folder and overwrite an existing folders and files. --------------------------------------------------------- Changelog v0.01 - First release of SF2: ACP v0.02 - Includes avionics overhaul for A-1s, A-4s, F-8s, F-89s, and MiG-15s --------------------------------------------------------- Current / Future plans I am currently working on next series of cold war aircraft avionics overhaul. If you have any feedback or request for aircraft avionic overhaul, please post in CombatAce forum discussion: https://combatace.com/forums/topic/99178-sf2-avionics-community-pack-wip-alpha-release-v01/ --------------------------------------------------------- CREDIT: - dtmdragon: F-8 packs for radar and other assets from cockpits - Stary: new cockpits for SF2 aircraft, including F-89s - Wrench: A-1s, A-4s, and another aircraft and cockpit tweaks - Wing over Korea: Gunsight textures. - Combatace and Combat flight sim tavern: feedback and supports - Thirdwire (TK): Strike fighter 2 simulation Thank you for enjoying the mods! Due to potential maintenance needs, I made a separate PLAAF weapon pack, you need to download it separately, I'm sorry if it causes you any inconvenience; (2) Like the J-20 and F-22,the J-35 uses AESA radar too, I set a higher scanning frequency and strength to avoid the disadvantages of traditional mechanical scanning radar and improve the resistance to old type of ECM; (3) IRL, there is no sign that the J-35 carries a cannon so far, just as J-20,but I still add rumored 4x23 rotary cannon; (4) After referring to the prototype FC-31, I decided to only set 4 stations for the weapons bay, which makes it lack the means to mount SRAAM, so I set station 1 and 2 under the wings as PL-10 stations, which is similar to the F-35, kinda "What If"; (5) At the time this model was made, there weren’t a lot of reference images, so there is a certain degree of “distortion”, and I did what I could when I made the further adjustments; =========================================================================================================== Credits: 1.Ice is silent water (off-site user,I purchased all resources from him); 2.Me (base on orignal resources, add a lot of detail objects,do a lots of animation and texture works); 3.T'Ilacis (off-site user, decals); =========================================================================================================== Special Thanks: 1.JAT81500(For the JHMCS/pilot mod) 2.Crusader(For parts of HUD textures) I'm just standing on the shoulders of giants. -

Beta version,it means not 100% complete, but almost there =========================================================================================================== In case someone don’t know much about them, the J-20 is a 5-gen stealth twin-engine fighter from the mysterious country in the East. The first verification aircraft completed its first test flight in 2011 and entered service with the Chinese PLA Air Force in 2017. It has been used in the past It has undergone numerous major or minor upgrades and improvements in more than ten years, giving it excellent low detectability (stealth capability), omnidirectional situational awareness, powerful radar and breakthrough collaborative combat capabilities. =========================================================================================================== 1.What does this mod probably have? (1) First, it contains 3 advanced birds, J-20, J-20A and J-20S. ① J-20 is the basic single-seat model; ② J-20A is upgrade model with better aerodynamic design and better engine WS-15; ③ J-20S, was first spotted in 2022. Most people speculate that it will serve as a "loyal wingman" command unit; (2) Independent cockpit, but it should be noted that this cockpit is fabricated out of thin air and does not represent the real appearance of the J-20 cockpit. It is only based on vague news videos and simulation cockpit pictures at air shows. ; (3) The Chinese alarm audio generated by AI, of course, fabricated. There are related videos circulating on the Internet that prove the existence of cockpit voice, but we are unable to determine the exact content; =========================================================================================================== 2.Usage: Unzip and copy Sounds, Effects and Objects these 3 folder to where your game is installed; =========================================================================================================== 3.Note: (1) No weapons included. Due to potential maintenance needs, I made a separate PLAAF weapon pack, you need to download it separately, I'm sorry if it causes you any inconvenience; (2) Since the J-20s uses the same AESA radar as F-22, I set a higher scanning frequency and strength to avoid the disadvantages of traditional mechanical scanning radar and improve the resistance to old type of ECM; Of course, based on SF2 game, there is essentially no difference between them, except that the player's operation will be more comfortable; I have performed the same operation on all similar radars of the same era in my own game, and for myself Said they did a good job, but I don't know if that would be a bit IMBA for you guys. (3) IRL, there is no sign that the J-20 carries a cannon, so I did not equip the 20 and 20S models with cannons, Hit and Run! But J-20A, however, for the purpose of gameplay, I added a rumored 4x23 rotary cannon to give the J-20A a "What If" look. Moreover, the current J-20 in reality has no signs of using any air to ground weapons, so I designed it as a pure air superiority fighter and used the avionics module dll of the F14A to enable it to track and attack four targets at the same time, which removes the ability to scan the ground objects, even though EOTS is still available. About J-20A/S, since there is only speculation about how it works, I regard it as a multi-role fighter and hope that it will have complete ground attack capabilities, so the 70s avionics module is used to detect ground targets. =========================================================================================================== 4.Credits: 1.Ice is silent water (off-site user,I purchased all resources from him); 2.Me (base on orignal resources, add a lot of detail objects,do a lots of animation and texture works); 3.T'Ilacis (off-site user, decals); =========================================================================================================== 5.Special Thanks: 1.yakarov79, logan4, Sundowner(Teach me lots of basic modding skill) 2.Wrench (Also gave me hints in the formation lights question, but I especially want to thank him for the extra “modding help”) 3.EricJ,Menrva(Great ideas in my modding process) 4.JAT81500(For the JHMCS/pilot mod) 5.Crusader(For parts of HUD textures) Of course, there are far more than these people. In the knowledge base of the forum, many people's detailed discussions have given me a certain level of foundation for modding through years of ini editing. It can be said that most of the people here have helped me indirectly. If I forgot to mention you who also contributed, please be sure to let me know as soon as possible. In the end, the most in need of thanks is TK, which allows this high-degree-of-freedom game to appear. I'm just standing on the shoulders of giants. -

Contents of the modification are the copyright of their respective authors. Notes about the installer Beware, the mod is available only in the ISO format. You can either mount it on a virtual drive, burn it on a DVD like in the good old days, or unzip it with 7-Zip or equivalent software. The installer will automatically detect your installation of the required Strike Fighters 2 games by reading through the registry keys. Game folders that are copied from or manually moved from where they were originally installed are not supported. You need all three aforementioned Strike Fighters 2 games and they must be installed with ThirdWire's original installers, not manually copied from other sources nor moved elsewhere after installation to other folders or drives. If you do not meet any of these requirements, installation cannot proceed and you are on your own. If you install all required games properly, the installation of the mod will proceed correctly as intended. The installer then lets you choose where to install the mod folder; you can even install the mod on a different drive or partition than the one where Strike Fighters 2 is installed. No further user input nor manual edits after installation are ever required; the installer takes care of creating all proper links to your desired path for the mod folder. After installation is over, simply run the mod by using the created Desktop and/or Start Menu links. If you have a previous version of the mod installed, please use the uninstaller to remove it completely. Clean installation is mandatory. You might want to make a backup of the Controls folder, so that you can easily restore your controller settings afterwards. Suggestions on common issues Make sure that you are using your dedicated GPU. By default, Strike Fighters 2 usually selects the integrated GPU you may have on your CPU, which is much weaker in terms of VRAM. In case you have frequent crashes or black/missing textures, I highly suggest you download and install the DXVK graphics wrapper (x86 DLLs) into your Strike Fighters 2 game folder: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk. You need a Vulkan-compatible GPU. The wrapper can greatly improve the experience with the mod. With DXVK I can play the mod on a mere Intel UHD 710, whereas without it the mod would always crash to desktop. Go to Sound and set Sound Channels to 32. We got reports that 16 is not enough and will cause crashes on some systems, due to the higher quality sounds included within the mod. The mod is pretty heavy for the game engine despite huge optimizations. Strike Fighters 2's engine is 32bit only and apparently does not manage VRAM properly; consecutive campaign missions might show black/missing textures on objects or cause crashes to desktop because the game does not release the occupied VRAM from the previous mission you played, thus the more missions are loaded consecutively, the more easily you may run out of memory. Set Ground Objects to Medium or Low, Horizon Distance to Near, and Shadows to Medium or Low. These are the most troubling settings. Avoid Unlimited settings as much as possible. If the mod used to work and suddenly crashes to desktop, updating or reinstalling video drivers should help. Make sure that DirectX June 2010 Redistributables are also installed, they are included inside the ISO disk image of the mod. Inside the mod folder, you'll find some extra text files. "(Coalition Order of Battle)" should be of your interest; the mod's terrain covers the entirety of Iraq, at the cost of not having all of Saudi Arabia; this means that a number of important units are based on airbases that are beyond the in-game playable area. With those units you always spawn near the target area, you'll never get to start from a runway nor to land on the assigned runway beyond the invisible wall. You have an entire list of the affected units in the aforementioned text file. By pressing ALT+N, the plane returns to base automatically. The mod is fully compatible with the Campaign Customizer and Mission Editor DLCs by ThirdWire. The Campaign Customizer might be an alternative way to experience those off map units I mentioned previously, since it assigns you to a random airbase of the in-game flyable area. Escort missions are often broken, this is not an issue of the mod, but a bug of the stock game; sometimes the AI flight you escort does not engage its target and keeps flying in a straight line instead of following waypoints, thus the trigger for mission success will never happen. Abandon the mission or retry it if the issue happens, sometimes it works. Pray for ThirdWire AKA Tsuyoshi Kawahito to work on a 64bit version of Strike Fighters 2, maybe even with support for DirectX 12. With that done, any out of memory issues should become an old memory. -

"Operation Desert Storm" for Strike Fighters 2 This package contains an updated, "Strike Fighters 2" compatible version of the "Operation Desert Storm" mod package originally released for "Strike Fighters Project 1" (SFP1). In addition to making the original mod compatible with "Strike Fighters 2: Europe" (SF2E), this updated version also adds a number of other mods that were released in the years subsequent to the original release of this mod for SFP1. This mod package should be installed to "Strike Fighters 2: Europe" (SF2E) installations (or merged installs incorporating SF2E) that are patched to the Mar2012 or later patch level. If you are running SF2E at an earlier patch level and do NOT intend to update to one of the later patch levels mentioned above, you should NOT install this mod package. Note that this is a COMPLETE mod package. There is no need to install the original "Operation Desert Storm" mod for SFP1. If you have installed the previous SF2 version of ODS, it is recommended that you NOT install this refreshed and updated version over that earlier version. Create a new install. NOTE: this mod is distributed as set of THREE 7zip archive files. If you did not download all three 7zip packages from CombatAce.com, then this mod will not work properly. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Minimum Requirements ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To install and play this mod, you must have the following installed: SF2 VERSION: Strike Fighters 2: Europe (SF2E) PATCH LEVEL: Mar2012 or higher This mod does support installations that include "Strike Fighters 2: North Atlantic" (SF2NA), however, SF2NA is not required. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Update Notes ~~~~~~~~~~~~ This mod package is a refreshed and updated version of the original version that was released in April 2012 on CombatAce. It incorporates all the updates included in the "Update 1" package released on CombatAce in January 2013. It also includes further updates, fixes, and additions beyond what was included in the "Update 1" package. All told this refreshed version of the mod includes the following major additions to the "Operation Darius" mod package: - new aircraft: H-6D, Mi-8 Hip, IL-76, IL-76B2, NimrodMR1, SH-3D - new SF2NA aircraft: EA-6B_86, A-6E_90, E-2C - new optional aircraft: A-10A_87, Mirage5AD, Mirage5EAD - new aircraft models: F-1CR, F-7B, F-7M, F-16C_B30, F-16C_B40, F-117A, JaguarA3_DS, Mirage2000EAD, Su-25 - new ships: USNTransport ...plus numerous other fixes, updates, and skin additions to dozens of aircraft and ground objects. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Installation ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Before installing this mod package, please ensure the installation of Strike Fighters 2 that you intend to use is updated to at least the Mar2012 patch level. The latest patches for Strike Fighters 2 can be downloaded from ThirdWire: http://thirdwire.com/downloads.htm Also, please be aware that the mod requires "Strike Fighters 2: Europe" (SF2E). This mod can be installed to SF2E installations that incorporate "Strike Fighters 2: North Atlantic" (SF2NA). If SF2NA is part of your target install base, there are some additional items for you to install. The main installation process consists of three main steps -- or, four if your target install base incorporates SF2NA. Please read the following instructions carefully and follow them religiously. If you wind up with a non-working mod install, then you likely failed to follow the instructions properly. ----------------------------------- * STEP 1: PREPARE THE MOD FOLDER * ----------------------------------- This mod requires a separate mod folder. Please do not attempt to install this mod over or combine it with other mods such as NATO Fighter 4+ or the SF2V Expansion Pack. - Open your SF2 Installation directory and make a copy of StrikeFighters2 Europe.exe or StrikeFighters2 NorthAtlantic.exe (if your target install base includes SF2NA). Rename the copied .EXE file to StrikeFighters2_ODS.exe (or whatever unique name you prefer). - Run the newly copied and renamed .EXE file, then exit back out to the Windows desktop after navigating through a few menus. A custom Mod Folder for your "Operation Desert Storm" mod install will have been created in one of these locations: Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\ThirdWire\[YourModFolder] Windows Vista: \Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\[YourModFolder] Windows 7: \Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\[YourModFolder] ...where [YourModFolder] matches the name of the copied .EXE file that you created. You will install the "Operation Desert Storm" mod files to your Mod Folder. - Open your Mod Folder and delete the \Objects sub-directory (including everything in it). Now you're ready to install the "Operation Desert Storm" mod proper. ------------------------------------------------- * STEP 2: INSTALL MAIN COMPONENTS TO MOD FOLDER * ------------------------------------------------- This is the easiest step. - Unpack the three "SF2 ODS" archive packages to a temporary location on your hard drive. - Move the contents of the \To_Mod_Folder directory from all three unzipped packages to your Mod Folder (created in Step 1 above). (Note: do not simply drag and drop the folder named "To_Mod_Folder" or you will end up with a non-working install.) If you've moved everything correctly, you should have a new \Objects sub-directory in your Mod Folder, along with a few new other sub-directories. ---------------------------- * STEP 3: EDIT OPTIONS.INI * ---------------------------- This last step involves a bit of text editing, so please pay attention. Open the Options.INI in your Mod Folder. Locate the "Instant Action" section and replace it with the following: [instantAction] AircraftType=F-15C MissionMap=DS StartTime=05:30:00 StartDate=01/19/1991 StartTimeDeviation=120 TextureSet=0 NationalMarking=0 SquadronMarking=0 AircraftNumber=0 KillMarking=0 Just below the "Instant Action" section is the "Single Mission" section. At minimum you should change the EndYear= statement to 1992 or higher. I recommend setting the StartYear= and EndYear= as follows: StartYear=1990 EndYear=1992 Finally, a little further down you should find the "Campaign" section. Replace it with the following: [Campaign] CampaignName=19910117 Desert Storm PlayerService=USAF PlayerUnit=336th TFS AircraftType=F-15E Difficulty=NORMAL Length=NORMAL AircraftSupply=NORMAL WeaponSupply=NORMAL LoadCampaign=FALSE CampaignSavename=DefaultCampaignSave Save your changes and close the Options.INI file. -------------------------------------- * STEP 4: Extra Step for SF2NA Users * -------------------------------------- This last step is for those whose install base include "Strike Fighters 2: North Atlantic" (SF2NA). Included with this mod are a number of custom files that allow SF2NA users to enjoy some of the new functionality included with SF2NA, including: - Updated F-14 cockpits and avionics that use the new AvionicsF14A.dll included with SF2NA; - Carrier battle groups in campaigns - SF2NA US Navy ships that are restricted to actual vessels that participated in Operation Desert Storm. - New mission types in campaigns, including Escort_Jamming missions for the EA-6B and EF-111A (AI only) as well as Early_Warning missions for the E-2C and E-3A. TO INSTALL: drag and drop the contents of the \_For_SF2NA folder into your Mod Folder, allowing Windows to merge and overwrite any folders and files it prompts to. * * * * * THAT'S IT. Your ""Operation Desert Storm" for SF2" mod should now be ready to use. You may consider installing some of the "optional" items as described in the next section. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Optional Installs ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This mod includes a number of optional files that you can add to your Desert Storm installation. Note that some of the following optional installs require you to have other ThirdWire products beyond those listed in the minimum requirements. A. SF2NA Tomcat Updates Included in the \Optional\3W_F-14s folder are some optional items that you may consider installing, if your installation base includes SF2NA. Included are: - DATA.INI files for the F-14 Tomcats that use the ThirdWire flight model - COCKPIT.INI and AVOINICS.INI files for the Tomcats that use the ThirdWire cockpit To use these files simply drop them in the appropriate F-14 folders in \Objects\Aircraft. (Note: the *.TMF versions of these files are copies of the files you replace when using these optional files.) B. Optional Aircraft 1. A-10A_87 Included in the \Optional\Aircraft directory is an optional A-10A Warthog, using a new model and released by Spectre8750. To install it, simply copy the \A-10A_87 folder to the \Objects\Aircraft folder in your Desert Storm Mods folder. Once installed this A-10A version will be used in campaigns in lieu of the stock A-10A_78. 2. Mirage 5AD & 5EAD Also included in the \Optional\Aircraft directory are two aircraft used by the UAE -- the Mirage 5AD and Mirage 5EAD. Please note that these aircraft require you to have the following additional products from ThirdWire installed as part of your base installation: - Mirage 5AD: Mirage 5D from Strike Fighters 2 Israel (SF2I) - Mirage 5EAD: Mirage IIIO from DLC #17 To install these aircraft, simply copy the \Mirage5AD and \Mirage5EAD folders to the \Objects\Aircraft folder in your Desert Storm Mods folder. These aircraft are not used in campaigns but will be available for single missions. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Note on Anti-Ship Missiles ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For this mod most third-party (i.e., non-stock) anti-ship missiles have been converted to use the ASM/cruise missile functionality introduced w/ SF2NA. At the same time, the older versions of these missiles have been preserved, as the new ASM cruise missiles can be used by AI only against ships. So, for many anti-ship missiles you will now find two versions: 1) "Standard" guided version These versions are the "old" style missiles setwith WeaponDataType=1. They can be used by AI against land and sea targets. These missiles retain their familiar names (e.g., AGM-84D Harpoon, Kh-59M Ovod, etc.). 2) ASM/cruise missile version These versions utilitize the new cruise missile functionality set by WeaponDataType=7. They can be used by AI only against ships. These versions can be distinguished by their names: - U.S./NATO missiles have the ASM tag (e.g., AGM-84D Harpoon ASM). - Soviet/WP missiles follow the naming convention used by ThirdWire's Soviet cruise missiles (e.g., Kh-59M AS-13 Kingbolt). At the same time aircraft that typically carry these missiles have been updated to accommodate the ASM versions. Loadouts for these aircraft have been updated to use ASM versions by default for Anti-Ship, Naval_Attack, and Cruise_Missile loadouts. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Note on Laser-Guided Bombs (LGBs) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ AI pilots in Strike Fighters have long had problems employing LGBs. AI pilots in the player's flight can drop LGBs, but will treat them as dumb bombs. AI pilots in flights not controlled by the player (i.e., AI-only flights) cannot use LGBs at all, and will typically get stuck circling the target. To address this problem I have created EOGB versions of all LGBs for AI pilots to use (AI pilots have no problems with EOGBs for some reason). These AI versions are identical in all respects to the LGB versions save for the Guidance Type, which is set to "Electro-Optical Guided" instead of "Laser-Guided." By default aircraft that use LGBs for certain loadouts (usually Stike, Attack, SEAD, or Anti-Ship) are loaded with these AI (EOGB) versions instead of the LGB versions. You should make it a habit to check the Loadout screen and switch the bomb version on your own aircraft to the LGB version. You can distinguish between the AI (EOGB) and LGB (Player) versions by the weapon name -- for example: LGB version: GBU-12D/B Paveway II LGB AI version: GBU-12D/B Paveway II (AI) While this solution introduces an extra step for the player in the preparation to start a mission, it allows AI pilots and AI-only flights to use these weapons. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Note on the Water Shader Effect ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This updated version of ODS for SF2 implements a different water shader effect from Fubar512, replacing the water shader effect from the original release that caused costal tiles to have an odd, shimmering appearance. If you run into problems with this replacement water shader, do the following: 1) Remove the following files from the \Terrains\DS folder: DiffuseMap.tga WATEREFFECT.FX WaterNormal.tga Water.dds WNormal16.tga TERWATEREFFECT2.FX At this point, the game will revert to using the stock SF2 watershader and WaterNormal.BMP. If you wish to restore the water shader used in the original release of this mod, proceed to the next step. 2) Restore the water shader effect from the original release by unpacking WaterEffect_Fubar512.zip (found in \Terrains\DS\_Water) to the main DS terrain folder (\Terrains\DS). If you later decide you prefer the new water shader effect included in this updated version of the mod, simply unpack WaterEffect_V1.zip (found in \Terrains\DS\_Water) to the main DS terrain folder (\Terrains\DS). If you do encounter problems with this replacement water shader effect, please report them to the forums at CombatAce.com. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Changes, Fixes, & Additions ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This mod is a conversion and upgrade of the original "Operation Desert Storm" mod released for SFP1. Here is a wad of avionics.ini mods for the SF2 F-111s by @FastCargo. Now granted I recommend @viper63a's F-111 add-ons to graft on top of 'em you can get here: https://combatace.com/files/category/630-f-111/ Basically what I've done is add a CCIP or Continuously Calculated Impact Point to the HUD. The intent is to give you the chance to be a lot more accurate droping Mk 80-series dumb bombs in the F-111. Especially since there is no feedback when bombing from the Weapons System Operator/WSO in SF2. Now I realize this isn't realistic for the days of the F-111 when there was absolutely NO helmet-mounted display that could project on top of a cockpit like now in 2020 with the Lightning IIs, Flankers, Fulcrums and arguably other front-line jets like the Super Hornet & Typhoon. Frankly from the research I've done most of the F-111 variants with the exception of the D likely never got a CCIP. The fact later models got a PAVE TACK to drop laser-guided bombs was a factor and of course, the F-111 had the Lead Computing Optical Sight that one can't program in SF2. So this copy-paste job of mine could very well be the next best thing with at least a realistic icon big enough to have some decent risk of circular error. Maybe there is better, hence this being an open beta. I would also like to incorporate terrain following into a bigger avionics upgrade... ;-). -

This is beta test of terrain following F-111A, similar to my Tornadoes. Settings are a bit different than tornadoes settings , but these will be universal. Means, will work for Tornado and F-111. SF2NA A-6E (TRAM) Intruder, VA-34,VA-55,VA-85 Early Lo-Viz Skin/Decals Pack 2/15/2018 = For SF2 (Any & All, Full-5 Merged Prefered) = *Can be used in any install that has access to the A-6E_79 (aka: TRAM)* 3 new skins for the 3W A-6E_79 Intruder that depict the 3 squadrons that participated in the "Freedom of Navigation" exercises in the Gulf of Sidra during 1986, and subsequent strikes against various Libyan targets (El Dorado Canyon). All markings are decals, and decal randomization is TRUE. All serial (BuAerNums) are correct as they are for the A-6E, but should be considered Generic (tm) in nature, not representing specific aircraft in any particular squadron. In fact, all 3 skins use them as a 'pool' of decals. The Default Start Date switch is used on this skin, so in 1983, you should see only these. The skin maps are new; The aircraft is finished in the 2-tone Compass Ghost Grey over Medium Grey scheme, with subdued markings (black and light grey). The skins are in jpg format. The aircraft are: VA-34 Blue Blasters, USS AMERICA VA-55 Warhorses, USS CORAL SEA VA-85 Black Falcons, USS SARATOGA As these are 'stock' squadrons in the 3rd Wire listing, Level=1 decals are used to activate the squadron name display. This should make it easy for campaign builders to use them in user-made campaigns or single missions (like on Menrva's new Libyan terrain). Please note, =NOTHING= is included that makes the aircraft flyable; no inis, cockpit parts (I use the Razbam payware pit on my A-6E & A-6E TRAMs). You should have made them flyable or need to seek the "parts" on your own. Also, if you have made it flyable, and use the "Read Only" trick on the main ini (A-6E_79.ini), you'll have to un-read only it to add this skin. While specificly designed for the A-6E_79, this mod =should= be compatible with the A-6 Intruder MegaPack by Homefries; the skins use unique squadron named folders and should not conflict or interfere with it (even though said squadrons also exist in his pack, as Level=1 statments, selectable from the Squadron Dropdown on the Loadout screen). Please note the "1983" start date is an arbitrary year, based on my research as a "best guess". On the Loadout Screen, for skin selection you'll see: VA-34 Blue Blasters (2-Tone 1983) VA-55 Warhorses (2-Tone 1983) VA-85 Black Falcons (2-Tone 1983) As always, fairly easy to follow, detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them .... Happy Landings! Wrench Kevin Stein -

Lockheed S-3B Viking by FoxMonter = For SF2, Any and All = This is the (hopefully) full, compiled package of FoxMonter' S-3B "Viking" Sea Control Aircraft, upgraded/updated/fiddled-to-fit the SF2 series. I've assembled all the skin/decal sets I could find into one big lump. Skins included in the pak are: VS-21 Fighting Redtails + VS-27 Sea Wolves * VS-29 Dragonfires + VS-30 Diamondcutters + VS-30DS (Desert Storm) ? VS-32 Maulers ? VS-33 Screwbirds + VS-33lo Screwbirds (Lo-Viz) + VS-35 Blue Wolves * VS-38 Red Griffins + VX-1 Pioneers + The suffix symbols designate the artist that created the skins/decals. The Key is below: *=HrntFxr +=Paul Nortness ?=IDK All decals and decal inis have been fixed and updated to SF2 standards. Several ini edits to the loadout, data and avionics also update them to SF2 standards (as of Aug, 2011). Wingfold and bombay animations have been seperated; bombay uses the standard Control/O (oh)key, and the wingfold is activated via the Shift/9 key. The cockpit is not equiped with an RWR display, so an 'audio-only' version is used. The flight model is unchanged. A new, SF2-style photographic hangar screen is also included. I've also included several sounds called for in the data ini. As always, READ the enclosed readme for full, detailed, easy-to-follow install instructions. With thanks to all the skinners, and FoxMontor for their work! Good Hunting! wrench kevin stein -
