Your welcome, but - to be brutally honest - I work to please myself. If you guys appreciate the results, then everybody wins. If not, there are plenty of other aircraft to fly. Cockpit progress shots.

You're welcome. This is a fun indoor hobby for an old geezer that keeps me sharp with multiple research, modelling, or artistic challenges every day. Sample below. I originally intended to depict the interior painted silver but then discovered my reference may not be reliable. So...now I am making a realistic wood fuselage shell. Third shot, of a Pfalz D8 replica under construction, shows what they look like before they are varnished.

For all you Guys out there, who has no interest in "just" Germans vs Soviets in a WW2 scenery, the Il2 team has surprised us today with a GREAT Announcement!!! The Pacific Theater is still planed but... Ladies and Gentleman, may I present to you: Dear Friends, Once again, it is my honor and pleasure to announce our current and future plans for the modern IL-2 Sturmovik product line. It has been about fifteen months since I told you about our plans for Battle of Kuban and beyond. Today we make our biggest announcement yet! However, before we do, we are happy to inform you that Battle of Kuban is nearing completion and should be finished by the end of this year as planned. We were able to meet our biggest objectives and complete many other new ones not in the original plan. The list is too long to post in this announcement, but our Developer Diaries tell the tale quite well. Some minor features that did not make it into Kuban will be included in the next product development cycle. Development never stops for us and we continue to march onward and upward! Our beloved Sturmovik has never looked or played so good! The Sturmovik development team is an amazing group of people who work tirelessly to bring you the combat flight-sim experience you want. As their Producer and partner for many years it still amazes me what they can accomplish. They deserve your continued support. Please show them how much you appreciate their work. We also want to say thank you to our customers who have helped us weather the storm and keep going. We cannot do this alone and so many of you help us when we need help and so many of you have told your sim buddies to purchase our products. We thank you from the bottoms of our hearts. This community is a special one and we’re in this journey together. Without further delay, our next title, sorry, our next THREE IL-2 Sturmovik titles are going to be the following - BATTLE OF BODENPLATTE, FLYING CIRCUS and TANK CREW! That’s right, Sturmovik is expanding into new territory and we are going to tackle building and releasing three new titles in 2018 and into 2019. All titles will be unique in their own way and all will be branded IL-2 Sturmovik and will share the same client software. Flying Circus and Tank Crew will be their own series within the Sturmovik ecosystem and give Sturmovik fans new ways to have fun. This ambitious and aggressive development plan will be made possible by working with talented professional studios whom we have partnered with in the past few months. If everything goes to plan this will allow us to do parallel development like never before. More about our partners and their role in future development diaries. Battle of Bodenplatte Although it was technically an “operation”, for continuity sake, we’re calling it a battle! Battle of Bodenplatte will explore the air war near the end of 1944 and into 1945. This late-war setting offers a wide variety of classic fighters and fighter-bombers for you to fly including some of the hottest piston powered airplanes to ever grace the skies. In addition, we’ll introduce our first jet aircraft! The Allies flew many low-level tactical missions into Germany from bases in Belgium and Holland during this time. In a desperate attempt to stem the tide of war, the Germans launched a surprise attack on Allied airfields on January 1, 1945. The ensuing battle became legendary. Planned to be Included in Battle of Bodenplatte: Flyable Aircraft and Content: - Bf-109 G-14 - Bf-109 K-4 - Fw-190 A-8 - Me-262 - P-51D - P-47D - Spitfire Mk. IX - Tempest Mk. V - Fw-190 D-9 (Collector) - P-38L (Collector) - B-25 (AI) - European Low-Countries Map (Final size TBD) (Parts of the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany) - Many Allied and Axis airfields, cities, towns and villages. Winter and Summer textures are planned. - New Allied and Axis Ground Units and Scenery. Battle of Bodenplatte Pre-Order Launched! As of today, you can Pre-Order Battle of Bodenplatte in our webstore. As always this will give you access to Early Access and a Pre-Order discount! The Pre-Order price is $69.99. Just click on the image to order. Flying Circus – Volume I Flying Circus will finally give our loyal and patient Rise of Flight customers a new way forward into the future! Our eventual goal is to essentially re-build ROF inside of the Sturmovik universe and give WWI all the latest technology like VR, 64bit, DX11 and improved visuals. We will start by focusing on re-furbishing ten of our existing WWI airplanes and providing a partial map of France to fly and fight over. Subsequent Flying Circus products will further expand content and we’ll work to integrate Flying Circus into our Campaign and Career systems over time. Volume I is merely the first important step and it will be a lot of fun! If Flying Circus proves popular we can eventually fire up the Great War assembly line and break out the canvas and timber once again to make some new crates! Guynmere, Fonck, Coppens, McCudden, Bishop, Rickenbacker and von Richtofen shall fly again 100 years later! Planned to be Included in Flying Circus – Volume I Flyable Aircraft and Content (Tentative List): - SPAD 13 C.1 - Sopwith Dolphin - Sopwith Camel - RAF S.E.5a - Bristol Fighter - Albatros D.Va - Fokker Dr.1 - Fokker DVII - Pfalz D.IIIa - Halberstadt CL.II - France map (100 x 100km Approx.) - Several airfields, cities, towns and villages. Summer textures are planned - No Man’s Land - Entente and Central Powers Ground Units and Scenery. Pre-Orders for Flying Circus will be available sometime first half of 2018. Tank Crew – Clash at Prokhorovka Tank Crew will be expanding upon our initial adventure into tank combat by including ten new tanks and armored vehicles and improving our two existing tanks. Tank Crew will create a ground combat component that can be integrated into single-player content and multiplayer servers. Our tanks will be multi-crew in multiplayer which most other leading tank games are not capable of. Our playable tanks will also be modeled both inside and out with realism in mind and improved damage modelling. The map will feature the southern portion of the Battle of Kursk with the village of Prokhorovka and town of Belgorod included. The map will also be built somewhat differently giving tank players a better ground environment then our current large maps. Further details about Tank Crew will be released as development ramps up. Planned to be Included in Tank Crew – Clash at Prokhorovka Playable Tanks and Content (Tentative List): - T-34-76 STZ - KV-1s - M4A2 - SU-122 - SU-152 - ZIS-5 + 72K - PzKpfw III Ausf.L - PzKpfw IV Ausf.G - PzKpfw V Ausf.D - PzKpfw VI Ausf.H1 - Sd. Kfz. 184 - Sd. Kfz. 10 + Flak38 - Prokhorovka - Belgorod Map {100x100 km Approx.) Pre-Orders for Tank Crew will be available sometime first half of 2018. LA-5 FN and Bf-109 G-6 Pre-Order Launched! In addition to all this amazing news we have launched pre-orders for the deadly La-5FN and Bf-109 G-6. These two planes further build our plane-set and fill in gaps in the Soviet and German war chests. Pre-Order now and enjoy a discount! Each aircraft is $14.99 for a limited time. Click on the image to order. IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles Demo and Series In 2018 we plan to release a Free Limited Demo for Sturmovik that will allow new customers to easily try Sturmovik. Users can then purchase content to turn their demo into their home-base for all things Sturmovik. More details on the Great Battles Demo first quarter of 2018. In addition to the demo, our entire collection of products will be made part of the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles series. Any product displaying this logo will be compatible with one another and part of the overarching collection. Digital Warfare Engine Previously our simulation engine was known as the Digital Nature Engine. Over the years many, many changes and improvements have occurred that has essentially re-written almost all of the engine and it now supports a wider range of vehicles. To commemorate this new reality, we have christened our updated engine the DIGITAL WARFARE ENGINE. Larger Picture As you can see we have ambitious plans for Sturmovik. No doubt you will have many questions and concerns about what we have announced. The bigger picture is that are now ready to try making parallel products for our WW2 fans, WW1 fans and possible new customers who enjoy tank battles. But beyond that, we hope to accomplish the following in our next development cycle. - New MP matchmaking system and lobby with chat - Improvements to aircraft fuel systems and add drop tanks - Oxygen masks for pilots at high attitude - Jet engine technology and associated physics of higher Mach numbers - Improvements to AI - Option for 4K skins by default and preview pics in the GUI for Custom skins - In-Game Model Viewer (hold over from Kuban) - Mods On/Off (hold over from Kuban) - More attractive GUI and better GUI optimization …. and many other small, medium and large improvements to usability, functionality and performance. Last but not least, part of our overall plan is to work with one of our long-time professional development partners to produce airplanes. This is not a guaranteed success and much work needs to be done to make this a reality, but we are giving it a shot. There is much more to our airplanes than just the model. Much training will need to be done to pull this off. If successful, we plan to make the Li-2 next. We are making NO PROMISES, but here are a couple very early WIP pics. Bonus Images For your enjoyment I commissioned a few extra images for our upcoming products. These are NOT THE OFFICIAL IMAGES for our new products and should not be used in that way or used in any media. However, we felt you would enjoy this special artwork and give you a sense of what is coming. Enjoy! You can discuss this announcement in this thread and read further comments from Jason that address this plan in even more detail. See you in the skies and thank you for your continued enthusiasm and support! View File Fiat G.91R pack v1.0 This is a Fiat G.91R pack, taking the old SFP1 mods and make them SF2 compatible. The pack includes all three G.91R versions 1,3 & 4, with all the neccessary weapons, pilots, guns & sounds. Five missions are also included. You need to install the NATO fighters campaign for these missions and the excellent Ravenclaw_007 USAF & Luftwaffe Phantoms. I tried to make as complete as possible, taking parts from the excellent G.91Y of ErikGen, such as the cockpit, sounds and the ejection seat. I worked the skins (converted into jpg), the loadouts and of course the data.ini trying to do it as realistic as I could. The real credits should go to First and above all - ErikGen for make them possible. Also - Andriam "Kreelin" who made the original Flight Model of the G.91Rs for SPF1. - Maurizio "NGHENGO" for the loading and hangar screens - Spillone104 for the jet sound, photos and suggestions during beta testing of the initial G.91Y release - Steve S for the invaluable infos about the cockpit of the initial G.91Y release - Steve S, Soulfreak & Muesli for the amazing skins - Ravenclaw_007 for the amazing weapons that made sense to rework the G.91R - Viper63 for the excellent pilots - bobrock, Soulfreak, Dave, Canadair, 76.IAP-Blackbird, Veltro2k and Nghengo as beta testers of the initial G.91Y release Known issues - The Attachment Position of the pylons are slighly wrong and should have been corrected. Hopefully in a later release. - The cockpit of the G.91Y looks a bit odd, since the "Yankee" was twin-engined and I hope that someone would correct this. - A late period ('80s) skin is missing for the Portoguese G.91R/4. I hope that someone would make a skin for it. I had in mind to rework the G.91R for years, and finally now I managed to do it. Better late than ever. I think most people know my love for small planes. Remember this is a FREEWARE Submitter FANATIC MODDER Submitted 11/17/2017 Category Other Origin

I have Jul 2010 in the botttom right corner of the FE2 opening screen listed as the last update that ThirdWire did for FE2 - I'm actually glad that they didn't do further updates since that would probably break all of these tweaks and mods that have been done over the last several years by many modders on this site for FE and FE2 - would probably ruin all of my FM work too. Blip settings are now correctly set whenever possible in the data inis for the aircraft, so it should "cut out" properly if you have a throttle of some kind (z-axis) on your joystick. Also good is to map a key from your keyboard to the blip setting in the Default.ini file located under the "Controls" folder of the FE2 user folder. My setting is: BLIP_SWITCH=B But I usually just cut the "fuel" by toggling across the blip threshold using the throttle control on my joystick - it gives the same results. Von S

yep VonS MY FE2 is up and running as sweet as a nut the only problem I have is going to bed it is getting in the way of my flying, thank you for the new planes. Could I ask you I know I have been been a pain and do keep on but I was wondering how do I get the blip switch to work I understand it is for the DR1 and Camel now I have programed a button on my Saitek X52 PRO stick but it do's not seem to work my install of FE2 has on the opening screen MARCH 2010 in the bottom right hand corner I understand this is the update have I got it right, I am running Windows 7 64 BIT.

Agreed. My forte is visual immersion - I've worked professionally for design firms in LA and trained college interns to make aerospace simulator models for Northrop Grumman. There is no denying WOFF has gradually pulled ahead of FE over time, but the end result is more difficult to mod than FE. A while ago, the WOFF guys bought a couple of my early-WW2 models and also offered me a job making models for their new magnum opus Wings Over The Reich. Alas. I was busy with real life and had to decline. When I could once again contemplate making models, I looked at all the extra effort needed to produce a working aircraft in CFS3 and chose to continue working in the more mod-friendly FE2. I really applaud your continuing efforts to improve FE2 because it compliments my efforts to improve its graphics.

Ho now that's nice the Hanriot HD1 is so much better I so glad I reinstalled FE2 I backed up a lot of the planes on disc but I do not have the HD2 I have the HD1 Duel that has two guns is the HD2 the same. Thank you again you have made a old man very happy I like the WW1 sims I have WOFFUE and ROF but never well very rarely fly them what a shame ROF had so much to offer I wished someone would take it up, but in this world it seems only consoles and Super Mario are making money no one wants WW1 sims. Ho well im happy with what I have.

All great thoughts - I think you're being realistic regarding the limits of the sim - but that's good because it helps us to push further with it. The Fokk. D7f, also the Dr.1, could take off at a steep angle (because of their thicker wing foils). Mikael Carlson has some clips up on YouTube where he does a really short take off run in the Dr.1 and ascends at a fairly steep angle (his has a 110hp rotary - I'm sure the climb would be even better on an engined-up version with a 130 or 150hp LeRhone). WOFF "ultimate edition" improves the AI over regular WOFF and especially over the old OFF variants - I think the dogfight AI in FE2 is very good too, comparable to WOFF. The AI in ROF is awful on the other hand. That one has received rave reviews regarding its FM - but I think the planes are too flimsy in it (wings falling off all over the place after a few hits). And if you don't like multiplayer, ROF isn't the best choice. It comes down to FE2 and WOFFue for good, current WW1 sims. Another thing to keep in mind is that most of the ThirdWire sims started off either as WW2 or jet-age sims, and were then "rebuilt" to make something like FE/FEgold/FE2. This is why engine management is still difficult to hammer out properly for FE2. Historical speeds and engine outputs are doable, as is overcompression (as I've recently demonstrated in another series of posts) - but engine cutout with negative Gs - that's another story. The WOFF guys have managed to get negative G engine cutout going - but that AI sometimes doesn't display max G limits in the way that player-flown craft does - again, WOFF was originally CFS3 (WW2 sim) - then heavily redone into a WW1 sim - it is now standalone but there are some things to work on there too, as there still are in FE2. I think our MaxG limits are now well done in FE2 - AI follows the rules of flight/physics much like the player has to. I'm still "studying" the FM in WOFFue when I have an opportunity to fly that sim - I like what I see but (call me crazy) I think so far that the sensation of flight (particularly "floating" as was typical in a lot of these wooden aircraft) is more accurately modelled in FE2 - especially when the FMs are tweaked properly. On average, stall speeds are higher by about 20 kph in WOFF, compared to FE2 - but this depends on a lot of factors (they do turbulence really well...the WOFF guys...very impressive) - we now have realistic horizontal winds, but turbulence I will try to "imitate" by tweaking some of the Stall values in the general aicraft ai ini file - again these are all factors stemming from these being WW2 sims that were eventually "retrofitted" to WW1 - or at least the game engines were done originally with WW2 in mind. I have both FE2 and WOFFue and switch between the two, but my go-to sim for quick dogfights is FE2 (it really gives that seat-of-the-pants sensation when flying). I still think the gold standard of FMs in any WW1 sim are the ones done by Greybeard for Red Baron 3D - in a way I've tried to "Greybeard" the FMs for FE2 - also great about RB3d is the ReLoad program that has options to toggle random engine damage, fire, and wind speeds - an app like that for FE2 would be great. Problem with RB3d is that it hasn't aged well graphically, although some of the later patches for it make it somewhat "decent" to look at, in a rickety sort of way. WOFFue I won't ever bother trying to tweak....from what I've studied of its file structure...it's probably best left to the OBD guys who make it, to tinker with the FMs and whatnot. FE2 is much more mod friendly. I'd rate both sims (FE2 and WOFFue) as "excellent" but minor stuff still needs working on in both. But to get back on track, included with this post are two zipped files, data inis for the HD1 and the seaplane variant the HD2 - have now tweaked alpha numbers for the airfoils on both models, pitch numbers too, and at least they don't loop anymore on take off - the HD1 still likes to pitch up but barely controls itself from doing a loop and settles in quickly into a normal flight routine. Will roll these eventually into a ver. 9.1 of the FM pack. The offending entries by the way are our old friends, under the AIData section: ElevatorDeltaPitch= ElevatorPitchRate= Reducing the values greatly for both entries stops the multiple looping for the HD1 on takeoff. Also, if anyone's looking for tweaked alpha values and correct stall characteristics on the Nieu. 24bis...see this post where I snuck in an extra data ini: https://combatace.com/forums/topic/91335-nieuport-28/?do=findComment&comment=738372 Happy flying, Von S

Here is one more Vid. Sometimes the effect doesn't show. I'm still testing and trying to figure out when it shows and why. but when it shows its a very cool realistic feel when flying over the front. I can place the "ghost artillery all over the front.

If I remember my Bleriot XI readings correctly, the two-seater variants had an 80hp 7-cylinder engine, and some of the one-seater types had a 50hp, 5-cylinder job - both are of course better powerplants than the original Anzani 3-cyl variant that gave about 25-30hp. Will have to read more into the top speeds of those engined-up Bleriots. Great to see the satellite terrain taking shape! Happy flying, Von S
