3 points@Geezer: Sure no problem, you've a PM From 'A Pass, a King and a Mountain' ... We ran, as the lorries ran, into patches of melting snow, fringed with gentian clumps, heath, and crocus! These patches thickened to sheets, till at the head of a pass we found ten foot of packed snow, all newly shovelled back from the dry, perfectly graded road-bed. It trailed after us brokenly, through villages whose gutters danced with bright water, and closed up abreast of us in sheets once more when we reached Cortina. This was an ex-health and pleasure resort, which of late belonged to the Austrians, who filled it with 'new-art' hotels, each more villainous in design than its neighbour. To-day, as the troops and transport come and go, the jigsaw and coloured-glass atrocities look like bedizened ladies , standing distracted in the middle of a police raid. The enemy do not shell the hotels much, because they are owned by Austrian heyducs who hope to come back and resume their illustrious trade. In the old days, whole novels were written about Cortina. The little-used mountains round made an impressive background for love-tales and climbing adventures. Love has gone out of this huge basin of the Dolomites now, and the mountaineering is done by platoons in order to kill men, not by individuals who read papers before Alpine Clubs.

2 pointsI can definitely say that on the Dux-built Nieuport-17, the machine gun was shifted to the right. As for the coloring, the second photo shows how much they looked more gray next to the French-built apparatus (fourth and fifth aircraft) .

2 pointsThe R.11 from what I'm aware was capable of doing a modern Immelmann, although sources are confusing on what an Immelmann is too (old-style chandelle, pirouette? or was the Immelmann always the same maneuver, as Dan-San Abbott suggested on the Aerodrome forums...). The R.11 has powerful engines, historically, so should be capable of such stunts if done gracefully I suppose. 2 pointsEnjoying the technical posts gents': from what I could find, Alkan-Hamy, and then later Birkigt gears on occasion, were used on license-built aircraft in Russia too (as with DUX manufactured types). Experiments were done as early as 1915 by Dibovsky, also Lavrov, with interrupter gears - but apart from the Sikorsky S-16, I don't know if these early experiments were in use...Dibovsky, with Scarff, later developed the interrupter gear used on several Sopwith Strutters and some early Sopwith Pups (see pic. below). Scarff is best know for the Scarff ring moveable gun-mount for observers. Happy flying, Von S

2 pointsThanks for clearing that up. I got the color scheme off the internet and did not realize it was an N23, not an N17. The "dark" silver artwork is simply a modified version of the "light" silver artwork of the other N17s I have posted. Attached is the original .psd artwork (light silver paintwork) with the Russian markings added. The N17 artwork is interchangeable with the N23 artwork as the aircraft were externally identical. Just transfer layers from one artwork set to the other set if you want to make your own variants. VonS and I discussed gun location and determined that the gun installation varied with the type of synchronizer. The only synchronizer specified by the French government for rotary engines was the Alkan-Hamy type - Systeme de Synchronisation pour Vickers Type 1 (moteurs rotatifs) - that placed the gun slightly offset to starboard. However, early production of the Alkan gears did not meet demand, so several British gun/synchronizers systems - which placed the gun on the center line - were imported for installation on some N17 aircraft. I do not know which type(s) were installed on Russian Nieuports. The Alkan-Hamy gear, slightly offset to starboard, can be identified by the spring loaded rod above the gun barrel and is shown below. Note the cocking lever is the British Hyland Type A, not the standard French cocking lever. Artwork with Russian Markings.rar

2 pointsNot to be picky, but this particular aeroplane No. 3598 was built in France, so in this case it was superfluous to imitate the Russian paintwork. In addition, as mentioned above, "Bob" is the 23rd type, not the 17th. The serial number and type description were indicated on bottom surfaces of wings - approximately the same as in the figure (I just love all sorts of technical inscriptions! However, type 17 from type 23 differed only in the placement of weapons and two bracing wires (inside - the modified construction of boxes for ammunition)...

2 pointsbecause TK (the original developer you bought the series from) hasnt done so much as a patch or said so much as a peep about PC development. one could hope for a suprise, but after 5 years dont hope too hard all forward progress on this series has been from the modders for the last half decade. while there is much great work out there, we are a bit fragmented and preoccupied with our own lives to get a community SF3 rolling. Shoot major campaigns and aircraft are stop and go, let alone the whole series revamped mandatory screenie

1 pointAs for the gunners, I will also add that after I added FakeGun, the behavior of the aircraft really became more aggressive. Now, after the command "Engage Air", Caudrons began to pursue enemy planes, performing steep turns and loops (of course, this is nonsense for such a large wagon)). But it almost did not affect the behavior of the gunners. It seems that the rear gunner thinks he is the front gunner (or vice versa), because on closer examination it turned out that the rear gunner shoots forward, while the front gunner is idle. But why are muzzle flashes in the wrong place (MuzzlePosition)? In general, the solution is somewhere close, I think ... P.S. I didn't manage to catch the moment when muzzle flashes, but it is clear that the fire was opened by the rear gunner.

1 pointI tried with settings from various stock and additional aircraft (including Laton's Halberstadt CL4), but so far to no avail. At the moment gunners are still shoot as in the screenshot, or prefer to turn their backs when they are attacked by a whole swarm of enemy hunters. . Although I even tried to add a FakeGun there to make them more aggressive... )) I think that the error is somewhere in the aircraft's coordinate system in the data-in-file

1 pointThird Wire's 3D model instructions require flexible guns to point forward, to provide a reference for the game code. Making the guns point aft is accomplished by the entries in the data file. Shot below shows the guns point in the correct direction before exporting the 3D model as a LOD. I do not know what causes the gunner problem ingame, but the model is set up correctly. This has worked correctly before, with the Halberstadt CL4. Perhaps the entries in Laton's old CL4 data file might help you figure out the problem? HalberstadtCLIV_DATA.INI
