Hello all! I've been messing around with Julhelm's awesome AFX Shadowcat recently and I've came up with an idea of some new skins for this plane. The first one which I would like to present to you is the 523FS "Crusaders" skin for the USAF land-based variant which I called the F/A-24B (i think the F/A name is more appropriate than A/F-24 because the USAF, USN and USMC use the F/A name instead of A/F). The paint scheme is based on the Polish F-16 two-tone gray. I know that the sides of air intakes would be more appropriate to place the squadron/wing markings on but it causes problems with decals appearing inside the intakes so I decided to move them further to the nose. Currently I am wondering whether to change the colorful insignias to dark grey lo-viz ones (similar to the USAF roundels). Enjoy the pictures and let me know what you think!

Beautiful (very) update Stephen, many thanks! I have just one question though, where does this leave the alternate “flat-topped fuselage” S.16? In this context, according to my references only a total of 34 S.16’s were built altogether (in no less than 5 variations). I wonder how many of these were of the “flat-topped” variant? Cheers Mike

Mikoyan MiG-29A 'Fulcrum-A' - Turkish Air Force, 1999 The coup d'état in Cyprus on July 15th, 1974 by a combination of the Greek army in Cyprus, the Cypriot National Guard and the Greek military junta ousted President Makarios III and replaced him with a dictatorship led by Nikos Sampson who declared the establishment of the Hellenic Republic of Cyprus. The coup was viewed as being illegal by the United Nations and was of huge concern to Turkey who feared that Sampson's next aim would be the total annexation of Cyprus by Greece. Within days Turkey had invaded Cyprus (without any resistance from the British forces based on the island) to quickly occupy 37% of the northern part of the island and expelling about 142,000 Greek Cypriots living in the north. War between Greece and Turkey seemed imminent but was averted when Sampson's coup d'état collapsed a few days later and Makarios returned to power triggering the collapse of the Greek military junta in Athens which had failed to confront the Turkish invasion. After the events of 1974, the United States imposed an arms embargo on both Turkey and Cyprus leading to sudden tension and mistrust between Turkey and the United States and pushing Turkey towards the Soviet Union leading to a vote in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey to become officially neutral (i.e. non-aligned) with President Fahri Korutürk announcing a huge increase in military spending with France and the Soviet Union gaining the most. In early 1975, the Turkish Air Force (Türk Hava Kuvvetleri) started to receive Dassault Mirage F.1's to replace embargoed Aeritalia F-104S Starfighters and also Sukhoi Su-17M's to supplement the handful of Phantom F-4E's that had escaped the embargo. Whilst still firmly in it's development phase, Turkey became the first international customer of the MiG-29 when the Turkish Air Force placed an order for 80 MiG-29A's in 1980 which entered service in March 1985. The German Siemens-Schuckert D.I was a direct copy of captured Nieuport 17s. The most important difference was in the engine. The Siemens Schuckert Werke (SSW) D.I used a geared Siemens-Halske Sh.I engine which produced 1800rpm. The spinner nose and open bottom cowling were necessary to help cool the engine. A bigger prop required a taller landing gear. Problems with engine production delayed the release of the SSW D.I. The Albatros D.III was already available by the time the SSW reached the front. The Albatros was a much superior plane, and was less likely to be mistaken for a French plane. The SSW D.I only served for a short time on the Western Front, they served longer on the Eastern front. My Siemens-Schuckert D.I includes a three color camo skin, a full set of number decals, a fully functional cockpit, and damage nodes for the wings. My skinning templates and a sound file for the engine are included in the download. Historical Notes: I do not have a sound file for the Siemens-Halske Sh.I engine, I am using Nixou's sound for the Le Rhône 110 hp engine instead. Credits: My thanks to Ojcar once again for making the excellent data.ini file for this plane. My thanks to Nixou for making the sound file for the Le Rhône 110 hp engine. Installation instructions: For FE1: Unzip the file and move the folder named "SiemensSchuckertD1" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. If you don't already have it, move the file named "Lerhone110m1" from my Sounds folder into your Sounds folder. For FE2: Unzip the file and move the folder named "SiemensSchuckertD1" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. Then in the FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, create a new folder named "SiemensSchuckertD1". Move the folder named "D" from the Aircraft/SiemensSchuckertD1 folder into the Decals/SiemensSchuckertD1 folder you just made. If you don't already have it, move the file named "Lerhone110m1" from my Sounds folder into your Sounds folder.

It's amazing what a little TLC can do. Don't remember where I got this but it needed a new paint job. 4 hours worth of work and PRESTO!!! Something worth flying.

The bellow link is for an M4000C test flight video and its pit during a random fighter sweep mission. Some quality got lost during scale down and format conversion so not everything is as sharp. Birds are in progress, finishing up lower lods for each type and few more skins to go.
