9 pointsStrung out across the valley floor to prevent any militia forces escaping towards the border, the Marine blocking force is at a distinct disadvantage in the upcoming engagement.. With no time to call for extraction or even to redeploy to the opposite slopes of the valley the Marines will not hold the high ground and the only option will be to try to pick off the enemy vehicles as they crest the ridge and are silhouetted against the skyline... If the enemy armour gets down to the valley floor they will be able to manoeuvre freely and bring their main guns to bear on the lightly armoured Marine vehicles.. But the Marines have air support from AH-1Ws and F/A-18Ds which will try to thin down the Sudanese forces, with the FAC firstly running in to mark targets... Closely followed by the attack birds.. This isn't going to be easy though, the enemy have brought air defence units with them.. But the Marines have a flight outfitted for defence suppression... And then the first enemy units cross the ridgeline and the battle really begins... To be continued...

7 pointsFound this oddity in my skin selection for the Block I Super Hornet. It's pretty much done, as the original PSD is lost so I'll upload this skin as well.

3 pointsThanks Wrench, I checked it out (the Israel one) and not too bad, though I have to do some ini dancing I think to get more SAMs in the area.

3 pointsThis is the current state of my attempt at reconstructing the SF2 FDM. Maybe someone find the information useful. I welcome comments and corrections. sf2_fdm_notes.pdf

3 pointsHello, Many thanks to You ! I will add rivets and I will resize the templates from 2048 to 4096. Best regards, P. Used mods : Revamped Yak-28s by Lindr2, KS-3/4 seat by 76.IAP Blackbird and Yak-28B cockpit by Stary

2 pointsThe Marines had been expecting to face a poorly armed militia, instead they were up against a major armoured force... The Sudanese have follow-on forces moving up, and it looks like a group of BMPs are breaking away from the main force to try to flank the Marines... And they have their own air support inbound too... To be continued...

2 pointsI got an email from Thirdwire this morning confirming that my donation will get me the Win 10 "patch" when it comes and also a key/link to the SF2 Complete edition. I didn't expect the latter so I'm happy with that even if I do pretty much have all the games and DLC - although spread across 2 email accounts.

2 pointsAt the moment the real Kuz is out of order, because a drunken sailor managed it to let fall a big crane on the flightdeck. This is a screenshot of our Kuz (WIP) As you see the VLS SAM launchers are operational now. And the Flak is firing too.

2 pointsNear the border with Sudan the blocking force takes up position... At the convoy site the SEALs move into position.. The SEAL leader gives the order, 'Snipers engage'... But the snipers aren't lying prone with long guns, they are inbound AH-1W gunships with Hellfire missiles targeted at the enemy 'technicals' from the rear... The Cobras close to engage with rockets and guns.. As confusion reigns a SEAL element, armed to the teeth and kitted out for hostage rescue, emerges from cover and makes a move to secure the aid workers.. It's close combat but the militia don't really stand a chance against professionals.. The rest of the SEAL team close in to the secure the convoy and call in the extraction helos.. Meanwhile, an F/A-18D ATARS bird, outfitted for FAC spots a dust cloud crossing from the Sudan border and rolls in to investigate... It's militia reinforcements... But wait... They've got company, and it's heading straight towards the blocking force..... The Marines hastily reorient to meet the new threat, but they're out of position, outnumbered and outgunned... To be continued...

1 pointCurrently I'm trying to reverse engineer the SF2 flight model. I stumbled over the stall tables. Does anyone know how the stall tables (StallLiftTable, StallDragTable and StallXacShiftTable) work? As an example here are the StallLiftTable and StallDragTable from the P-51D and F-4B inner wings: I assume the abscissa is alpha and the ordinates are factors for some lift or drag coefficients. Correct? What are the lift and drag coefficients? CLmax for lift and StallDrag for drag? But the drag table looks odd. I would have assumed that at alpha = -90 degree and +90 degree the drag factor would have its maximum. When are these tables used? If alpha > AlphaDepart?

1 pointNeither is the stock Soviet nation. IRL there's no need to create an additional nation (although my nations expansion mod adds the People's Liberation Army Naval Air Force and Soviet Naval Aviation, they are unused without extensive changes to numerous userlist.ini files). The key simply is to make sure that both ships and carrier based aircraft use the same nation (China or Soviet, for instance).

1 pointThanks. At the moment the numbers and names are only painted on the skin. Later we will change it to decals.

1 pointOh yes! It has to be color scale, 8bit. It should weigh 257 kb. Resolution of 512*512. I double checked, and yours is wrong indeed. Thanks for pointing this out with your question. This is your terrain issue. You should use gerwin's TFDtool, as it can generate a water bitmap for you, and you simply have to add yellow and green areas in a painting software (but be careful to save it as it is, 8bit). Make sure that you do not use Photoshop, because it somewhat saves 8bit bitmaps with a slightly different file size, and the game does not read it. Use MS Paint instead.

1 pointYou don't have any keys or joystick buttons assigned your guns. In the game go into Options/Control/Customize and then you can set your joystick buttons up to fire the guns.

1 pointView File F/A-18E E4 Prototype This is a prototype scheme of the F/A-18 Super Hornet, E4. Not much else but the skin is What You See Is What You Get as the original files for this aircraft were lost, so I'm just getting unused skins that are complete out to the public. Simply drop this in your FA-18E_BlkI folder and go fly. Can be found under the drop down menu as "E4 Prototype" Submitter EricJ Submitted 10/05/2019 Category F-18

1 pointGo for both. Yes, it will mean more work. But you will enjoy it more working on it and having the final product. Honestly, If you are making templates from zero - really just re-draw everything. I suggest using a 4096x4096 template or even more to draw everything. The final product can be resized - maybe it will be a little blurred but for sure will look better than made on a low-res template.

1 pointCool idea and good luck! I would go for rivets. From looking at close-up pictures, the plane had lots of rivets. Make them small and with reduced visibility, so that they are more visible you closer you get. Have a look at my 4k-Skyhawk-Templates to see what I mean. If you need help, just say so. :)

1 pointMinor update: -Creation of a generic prop taildragger flight model. It really doesn't resemble a P-51D! -Animation of (primary) control surfaces -Animation of gauges (although some gauges need some tuning) -Animation of the propeller Test flight video: This can be achieved *without* patching FlightGear. I only had to add the LOD file loader plugin DLL to the plugin directory. However for the planned support of the LOD keyframe animations (landing gear, ...), FlightGear must be patched. If anyone wants to know, how the configuration files in FlightGear look like: p-51d-model.xml contains the control surface and propeller animations. In SF2 that data is in the <aircraft>_data.ini. vc.xml contains the gauge animations. In SF2 that data is in the <aircraft>_cockpit.ini. My todo list for the SF2-FG project: -Re-creation of the SF2 systems and flight model -Support of keyframe animations -Gunsight -Weapons -Decal support -Normal and specular map support

1 pointDid some flying again this weekend, first in ROF, but then I ended up spending more time in SF2 and FE2. ROF is definitely a respectable sim with great damage modeling, but I had much more fun in SF2 and FE2. Also the AI is I think noticeably better in the TW sims, particularly in FE2 where, depending on skill, aircraft sometimes disengage and try to head for home, or temporarily disengage and then jump back into the fray. 1 pointNow I create new skin for Hannover CL.II/CL.III. There is screenshot from FE1 and FE2. Why in FE2 so poor quality of lozenges? Graphic options in FE1 and FE2 exactly the same - "Object details" and "Texture detais" are HIGH.
