5 pointswe all started like you m8....try ur hand at it...its daunting when you open max etc fit=rst time...but soon you get to know it...really good tuts out there...if not Blender...thats free redoing refuel probe area...thought have few hours rest from the C117 lol also ...sometimes worth tracking down model creators even official game ones...as sometimes you will be suprised....this model I found IS freeware...I also tracked down creator to check...and had permission to convert even if free....so its worth the effort usually they dont mind as long as no one apart from them is making money out of them.....which is understandable.

2 pointsE-3 Sentry Quick Aircraft Facts In the dawn of aviation, aircraft were used by the military for reconnaissance, and artillery spotting (helping batteries to stay on target). Then they were eventually modified to become attack aircraft. As technology improved the Boeing 707 was produced. This humble aircraft helped usher in the "Jet Age" and it was used by a number of airlines that ferried people all over the world. The military turned that humble airliner into a valuable tool called the E-3 Sentry and in this Quick Aircraft Facts video, we'll do our best to present it's history, purpose, and future in 3 minutes or less.

1 pointNah, go with the camo version, the more diverse the terrain the better, most large important structures ie factories etc also got camoflaged in some way, walls and roofs were usually done green and black, hell they even filled in a lake near me to prevent the bombers from using it as a navigation point for the nearby Crewe works/railyard and Rolls Royce factories. More instances here.... https://heritagecalling.com/2019/10/07/the-story-of-camouflage-during-the-second-world-war/

1 pointyes, PLEASE don't use dds skins!!! We've been going around and changing those models that do/did back to jpg via hex editing. thank you Russ!! that Dak is REALLY looking good, too!
-
1 pointI had not known, that the british side had camouflaged some airfields during Battle of Britain. Here is an air footage from 1940 of RAF Tangmere Thatswhy i have experimented with a camouflaged tile for airfields: RAF Tangmere: What do you think about this airfield tile. Should it stay in terrain or should i use the old (not camo) green version?
-
1 pointgood....deleted the one ive got...no need check if its legit now...saves me work lol looks top notch m8
-
1 pointRusso from your last screenshot it looks for me like a specular map thing. BTW to avoid dds related issues, you should go to jpg format. FSX handles dds format in a different way SF2 does. FSX uses much more the functions of dds Format (mip Maps etc) which SF2 doesn´t.
-
1 pointnarrowed it down...its either spec or bump map doing it... no spec and bump...using game settings for it.. at least I know whats doing it now.. just found paint kit for this so can make new...I suspect they had attributes assigned for fsx etc...they are hard to get rid of..

1 pointThe original request for the Pearl Harbor National Memorial came from Wrench here: https://combatace.com/forums/topic/94790-3d-object-request/?tab=comments#comment-767482 Today in the United States it is Memorial Day. A time to remember and honor those who have died in service to our great nation. And specific to this request, “The USS Arizona Memorial, at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii, marks the resting place of 1,102 of the 1,177 sailors and Marines killed on USS Arizona during the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and commemorates the events of that day.” I unexpectedly found some free time, and have been working relentlessly to get my version in a decent condition so I could post an update today. Everything has been scratch built including most of the texture work. It started off as just a quick hull mesh, but as time went on, I felt a sense of honor and patriotism in creating this – and that’s when things evolved. With the state it’s in, dare I say you can even take a fairly convincing virtual walk-through of the memorial – overkill perhaps but I found it extremely gratifying. I’m still making some overall form tweaks and other updates, but am proud to be sharing the latest progress especially today and hope it is a proper tribute.

1 pointThank you so much once again, ravenclaw! First goal achieved - the stock EA-6B can now carry AGM-88 on any one of the wing pylons and with a proper rail at that: Loaded with 4 AGM-88 just for the screenshot.
