12 pointsPlease, gentlemen!! In these days of political correctness, they are NOT retarded bombs. The new term for them is "vertically and horizontally velocity challenged bombs" If fact, "bomb" may also not be correct, it should/could be replaced by "multi-weight explosive package". thank you for you time and consideration

4 pointsWhile i agree with your nod towards inclusion of all our explosive brothers, drop a string of these 1000 lb special children from an F-4 at less than 50 feet (before the chute has time to fully deploy) over an enemy runway, and the resulting negative reaction of your aircraft to pieces separating hurriedly from the frame will make you utter that very phrase, and THEN you will understand why they are called "retarded" bombs. And it ain't got nothing to do with the bombs. Trust me on this one.

2 pointsWhen the conflicts scalated into what has become known as the Far East War in 1968, the USAF found itself without the ability to field enough Phantoms to curb the swarms of J-6s fielded by the PLAAF, which led to a revival of the Starfighter in its intended role as an air superiority fighter. Out of the F-104G production lines everywhere, scores of F-104Ms were produced introducing improvements such as the uprated J79-GE-19 engine and a EW warfare suit to survive in the SAM intensive environments of Korea, Vietnam and the Taiwan Strait. Another significant improvement came about with the standardization of US Navy variants of the AIM-9 Sidewinder, which not only simplified logistics and production, but actually performed much better in combat. Still need to work a bit on the ECM stuff, they should also come with IFR probes. Skin by Wrench, terrain by Gerwin and Menrva, stock 3d stuff, blunders by yours truly Macelena

1 pointThe ODS Dev team is proud to announce the second official release of Operation Desert Storm: 30th Anniversary Edition, now reaching version 0.9.5. Six months had passed since the first release of January 17th 2021, six months in which the development team did not rest, producing a wealth of tweaks, bug fixes and exclusive, brand new additions to this comprehensive package. Unwanted bugs found their way in the January release, due to time constraints and the team wanting to meet the deadline in time for the 30th anniversary of this historic operation. Now we offer a much more refined and expanded experience, with quality of life improvements and welcome bonuses. Be sure to read the massive (albeit summarized) change log (Operation Desert Storm: 30th Anniversary Edition - Early Access) to learn more about all of the efforts that went into this new release. The package is free for download to all official Modders and Subscribers of the site. Those whose 2021 6-month subscription plans expired have been granted access to the package at no extra cost. Users who acquired the mod via a 1-month subscription plan will have to renew it for access to this brand new release. CombatACE.com admins thank you for your support towards the monthly costs of the site. From the Official announcement:

Looking at the weights it looks pretty much solid so sorry about that confusion. Landing speeds should be lower and therefore correct for the aircraft.

1 pointI seem to recall that the RNAS, and some RFC squadrons used the French cockades early in the war, maybe as far in as early 1916, so it isn't incorrect. you will also see RNAS roundels that are just a red circle, with a white centre, but I have a feeling that they were for home defence squadrons. So I am unsure if they were used in France at all.

1 pointOh yes I did plow my way through the various packs, of course I did, however, due to extreme shell shock, and eye boggling, I failed to find the droid I was looking for, However the Mk 82 para retarded are just the job, thank you all for your help, so problem solved. I did also find them in the B52 files you mentioned, So thank you for that pointer !! I think the issue is I have not really delved into the area of munitions, retarded, or well adjusted, and sometimes the packs can be rather intimidating, and give , in a lot of cases at least, very little clue as to what the weapon actually is, without looking at the Data,INI file for the thing, it also doesnt help that many of the weapons in question, are called different things, rather than having the "idiot guide" clue in the title ( IE mk 82 Parachute retarded Bomb)

1 pointtell me you dont mod without saying you dont mod quite familiar with how big they are. although i did break my copy of Gunnys pack down by rough era/area (vietnam, europe, 50s 80s etc) and i are an old school retired NCO. i know these weapons are too dumb to understand they are being insulted by being called retarded. laser guided weapons, on the other hand, are highly sensitive and you must watch yourself around them

1 pointare you talking about the ballutes, or actual parachutes? the Mk8xAIR weapons are like above, everyone else used fins like Snakeye iirc the ones like pictured are all over the download section, both in weapons packs and in various aircraft mods (cough cough DA B-52 mods nudge nudge)

1 pointTo anyone who downloaded the mod recently, do know that we're working on a majorly improved version of the whole package, with numerous bug fixes and exclusive additions. We tried our best in order to release the mod in time for the anniversary of Desert Storm, it was all but perfect. The new release is planned sometime during Summer. If you already downloaded it in the past, we will make sure you get the latest version with no additional subscription needed, of course.

SF2 WW2 PTO Republic P-47D "Bubbletop" Thunderbolt (0.5 Beta) 12/15/2014 = For SF2 (Full4/5 Merged RECCOMENDED!) *This mod will =NOT= work in SF/Wo* 1stGen game installs. It was built for SF2 ONLY!!.* This is a BRAND NEW aircraft, brought to you by Cocas Aircraft Factory & Co. We are calling this "version 0.5 beta", as there are a few minor issues with the LOD, and these will repaired as Real Life allows. But, we wanted to get them out into the hands of our WW2 End Users for their examinations and so forth. See Notes below for a more detailed explaination. REMINDER: this pack contains PTO Bubbletop Jugs =ONLY= !!! Other theatres/users will follow as time permits, and as they are completed. This pak contains, as stated above, a NEW aircraft, representing the Bubbletop P-47D (-25 thru -30-ish) Thunderbolt as seen in 1944 through war's end. Skin(s) included are: 41st FS, 35th FG (circa late 1944, Philippines) All markings are decals, excepting the 41st's nose marking (which is painted on, as are the rudder stripes). Decal randomization is set to TRUE. Damage textures are also new, in DDS format. I'm trying out a 'new style' of hangar screen, so I hope you like it. The canopy opens/closes with the Standard Animation Keystroke , Shift/0 Pilots, sounds, weapons are all included. As there are several P-74D Bubbletops available, when in game you'll see: P-47D-25 Thunderbolt (CAF) on the aircraft selection dropdown menu. This will diferentiate it from any others that you may (or may not) have. As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!!! Also, as usual, give the "Notes" section a read, too. Happy Landings! Wrench Kevin Stein =for Cocas Aircraft Factory, Prop Works Division=
