Version Patch 2
3,636 downloads
PLEASE BE AWARE; This release of TSF 2 is unpolished and is to be considered a Beta version. In short, there will be bugs and not all of them have been found. Unless things change significantly, there will not be more releases. Please read the letter below to understand why. If you just want the SK 60 or the Saab 37 Viggen - look in the Aircraft section. If not posted there, they will be posted there shortly. A letter from the Project Leader: My name is Jonathan and I am the project leader of The Scandinavian Front. I want to apologize that I will not be living up to the vision I had for The Scandinavian Front. The reason for this is because between my new full time job and all my other projects, TSF 2 fell by the wayside. This is not fair to TSF nor is it fair to you. This is to be considered a Beta release. It has bugs. The Campaigns have not been fully balanced. But it is a playground that you can play around with - just like always. But this will be the Final Release of TSF 2. I sat down one too many times trying to make it perfect and I will have to accept that TSF 2 may never be. Maybe some day I will sit down and release a patch to bring it up to speed. But today is not that day. I want to thank all the fans of TSF 2 for their support during this time. It has been invaluble. I also want to thank AngelP, Stary, Ravenclaw and my mate Paulopanz who have been there for me to make this mod what it is today. Without them, I could never have made this dream. Do not blame them for the unpolished state of this release, they gave me their all and I am very grateful. FEATURES Fly and fight with Aircraft from the Scandinavian Air Forces, including the legendary Saab lineup of aircraft in combat against the Soviet Union in multiple scenarios from 1950 to 2014. Campaigns include several intensive conflicts, training missions and a virtual museum allowing you to follow a Swedish Flottilj for most of its history! Now at last - Saab SK60 and Saab 37 Viggen are avalible to fly in TSF 2 alongside - for the first time - Soviet Aircraft in service of the fictionalFinno-Soviet Republic! More AI Aircraft to fly with or against! Updated Terrain Tiles, Weapons and Menu Screens. Optimized code; unused and outdated assets removed. Installation: This mod requires SF2: Europe. SF2 North Atlantic, Expansion Pack 1 and DLC 008 J 34 Hawker Hunter is highly recommended. Please be aware that without SF2 North Atlantic, at least two Campaigns will be unavalible. First of all, make sure you are using SF2: Europe and that it is patched to the latest version. This is _vital_. Check Thirdwire.com if you are unsure what the latest patch is, but the game should notify you if there is new patches out. Delete ANY PRIOR TSF MOD INSTALLATION! This is vital as items has been renamed, moved or otherwise changed. If you are using a mod, or plan to use one, TSF will mess around with settings other mods may be using. As such, creating a seperate mod folder for TSF is a good idea. If you only plan to use TSF, then this step can be bypassed. Go to your installation folder (Usually C:\Program Files\Thirdwire\Strike Fighters 2). Make a copy of Strike Fighters 2.exe / Strike Fighters 2 Europe.exe depending on what you prefer and got installed. Name the Copy Strike Fighters 2 TSF.exe . Start your new .exe once, then close the game. Now go to your Mod Folders. For Windows 7/Vista, this is located in C:\Users\Name\Saved Games\Thirdwire. For Windows XP Users, it is usually in My Documents. Download ALL THE FILES into THE SAME FOLDER and Unzip TSF2_Final from TSF2_FinalPack.7z.001. You need 7z or Winrar to do this. Unzip the contents of the 7zip files "TSF2_Final" into the mod folder of your choice. If you do not own Strike Fighters 2: North Atlantic, then unzip "Unzip if you do not have SF NA.7z". Read the Readme included and follow it to the letter. If you own Strike Figthers 2 Expansion Pack 1, unzip "Install if you do not have SF NA.7z". Allow any overwrites. If you own DLC 008 J 34 Hawker Hunter, unzip "Install if you have DLC 008 J 34 Hawker Hunter.7z". Allow any overwrites. If you own DLC 028, unzip "Install_if_you_have_DLC28.7z". Allow any overwrites. (Please read the included Credits file. I could not do what I do without the lovely people who helped me by allowing me to use their work!) -
1 pointThe sun was already up and it was shaping to be a beautiful summer morning in the Med when we were launched as the Alert 5. As we climbed to altitude the controller aboard the E-2C briefed us on the developing situation.. A Libyan Arab Airlines scheduled flight from Benghazi to Damascus had turned left instead of right on clearing Libyan airspace and was now heading west, apparently towards Malta. Was it a hijack, a defection or something else? Our orders were to close in on the airliner and try to find out.. After a few minutes the situation worsened. The airliner wasn't responding to Libyan ATC instructions to return to course or to turn south, back to Libya, and two MiG-25s had been launched in pursuit.. The Hawkeye was trying to put us in between the MiGs and the Airbus, but the Soviet built fighters had picked up speed and the angles were all wrong. Then suddenly we heard an urgent call from the controller on the E-2C. 'He's firing a missile!' The Hawkeye controller was now broadcasting on Guard for the Airbus to take evasive action as the Libyan AA-6 began to track the airliner.. We were cleared to engage and I snapped out the orders, 'I'll take the lead. Two you engage the trailer' We both called Fox 3 as our AIM-54s arced up to track on the Foxbats.. But there was a problem with our missile. 'Looks like we're being spoofed' called my RIO. 'I've lost lock and so has the missile.' I switched to HEAT and went for a lock with my Sidewinders but we were still just out of range. In my headphones I could hear my wingman call Fox 3 and then Fox 1 in quick succession. Another Phoenix and then a Sparrow? Was he having trouble locking on too? After interminable seconds I finally got a Sidewinder lock and called Fox 2, but way too soon there were not one but two explosions and smoke trails ahead.. My wingman had killed both MiGs with his AIM-54 shots! Although his AIM-7 and my AIM-9 would hit the burning targets in the next few seconds they were both already out of the fight. But what about the Airbus? Had it survived the Libyan missile attack? I called the Hawkeye and rolled onto a course towards the airliner. He had radically changed course and altitude, causing the AA-6 to waste fuel and time trying to manoeuvre onto him until it lost lock when the launch aircraft was destroyed. We picked up the airliner at low level south-east of Malta... It didn't answer our calls, but made a single call to ATC at Luqa, Malta that it was commencing a straight in approach and ambulances should meet it as there were wounded aboard. I crossed to the other side of the airliner to give it room as it commenced it's landing run into Luqa, which had already cleared all traffic in anticipation.. We watched it all the way down to the runway.. Then it was back to the boat via a tanker and home in time for breakfast. Maybe we'd read what happened on the airliner in tomorrow's papers...

1 pointHi Julio, as far as I know Geezer never released a large pilots pack officially, especially some of those WW2 pilots that he modeled. He did allow that the WW1 pilot with a mustache be released (available at the following link, with the BE2a: https://combatace.com/forums/topic/87403-tweaked-flight-models-and-realism-pack-for-fe2/?page=8&tab=comments#comment-780396). and also that the WW1 pilot with the green scarf covering the face be released - that one will be included in the Bleriot XI model, when it is finally/hopefully completed. Happy flying, Von S

1 pointMini ver. 9.98 FM update "package" included for download: Mar. 23, 2021 - includes FM upgrades for the A-Team B.E.2a (also a re-skin of Lloyd's skin on CombatAce for the 2a) - as well as FM tweaks for the B.E.2c. In the package you will find a "ForDecalsFolder" - the folder inside that one should be copied to your Decals folders for your middle eastern and western front installs. You will also find a folder called "ForAircraftFolder_MiddleEasternFront" - in there you will find the relevant data ini, general ini file, skin folder, cockpit ini file, hangar/loading screens, etc. - make sure to download the A-Team B.E.2a, then rename as "BE2A" without quotation marks and move over all of the files in my BE2A folder into the A-Team one that has been renamed. Recommended is to remove the old/obsolete files from the A-Team folder, for good measure. To complete your B.E.2a install, download Stephen's B.E.2c if you do not have it, and move the 2c's "cockpit" folder into your now fixed BE2A folder, to get the improved cockpit. The other three folders included in the package are self-explanatory and contain data inis for the western front installation of the B.E.2a, also middle eastern and western front data inis for the B.E.2c. You will also find inside the package a folder called "ForPilotsFolder_Geezer" - inside that one is the relevant pilot folder (with complementary moustache) that goes with the tweaked B.E.2a. It was made by Geezer a few years ago and he has kindly allowed that it be included with some models, publicly, for FE2. Another model that Geezer has allowed to be used publicly is the pilot with the green scarf covering his face, but that one will be included as a bonus once the Anzani Bleriot is completed that Swambast is working on. As well, don't forget to download Stephen's armed observers since one of those observer models is used for the re-worked B.E.2a. Happy flying, Von S EDIT: removed download package - now included in the big, ver. 10.0 FM/realism package.
