5 pointsToday I uploaded the Nieuport 21. It was intended to be an escort and used a Nieuport 17 airframe with a smaller engine (to extend its range.) It was used by the French, British and Russians, and saw a lot of use post war. I have included two skins, a full set of decals, a fully functional cockpit, and my skinning templates. My thanks to Ojcar, who made the FM, which captures the fast climbing speed, but low power of this plane.

3 pointsGatling, Perfectly understand your "issue", and I can tell you we had a very lengthy debate and discussion about the "power" of the engines. We used the spitperformance site also for information and whatever else we could scrape up on the net, and we had perfectly matching speed values according to available data. Only we run into one thing, we also wanted to make the handling characteristics as close we could, on most difficulty settings, which required seemingly more power. There are several ways to achieve them, but the shortest and easiest solution was to add that extra power. On the other hand, other currently released WW2 aircraft on the opposite side were/are mostly overpowered and was not "fun" to fight against them, when historically they should be on par with AC-s in this or upcoming packs. Since it is a game, we chose the fun factor more important than a couple of HP-s. If you have the time and interest to make a perfected FM that solves every "issue" you may run into (power, speed, handling on normal and hard settings), you are welcome to do so. We work on the Spit family in our spare time we scrape from the other 4-5 projects we work on in parallel with this, so we welcome any helping hand that makes our work easier, faster or more realistic.

3 pointsOnly 2 suggestions I can make on this: 1) use the AvHistory merlin sound from GregoryP. The stock Merlin is more Griffon like then the sweet sounds of a Merlin 2) add a 'fake' insigina decal, as the roundels are painted on. Just choose a mesh (rudder/aileron or something NOT fuselage or wing). Using something like the statement below: [Decalxxx] MeshName=LeftAileron DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=bottom FilenameFormat=Insignia Position=-7.45,-0.10 Rotation=0.0 Scale=0.000001 DecalMaxLOD=1 That will activate the "Nation Name" service on the Loadout Screen's dropdown. Otherwise FANTASTIC JOB!!!! Big thumbs up!!

General Dynamics F-16A/B Block 15 OCU Venezuelan Air Force This model represents the F-16 A/B in service with the Venezuelan Air Force since 1983 to present date Venezuela was the first Latin-American country who got permission from the US to buy F-16s. They stayed the sole operator in Southern America untill Chile received their new F-16s in the course of 2005. Peace Delta In May 1982, the government of Venezuela signed an agreement to buy 18 block 15 F-16A's and six Block 15 F-16B's to replace the fleet of Mirage III interceptors and Mirage 5 ground-attack aircraft serving with the Fuerza Aérea Venezolana. This purchase was under the Peace Delta Foreign Military Sales program. The original intent was for an order of up to 72 aircraft, but budget restraints lowered that number to 24. However, the Venzuelan order was not approved immediately because the US government wanted to sell Venezuela the F-16/79 (a slightly degraded F-16 version developed for export orders) instead. In 1983, the US government abandoned its hopes of selling the F-16/79, and finally approved the sale of the F100-powered F-16s to Venezuela The FAV accepted its first aircraft in September 1983. FAV F-16s wear an attractive green/brown color scheme, with the insignia of the Aviacion de Combate (Combat Aviation) on the tail and roundels on the wings. A four-digit serial is painted on the fuselage just below the tail fin. Of the original 24 aircraft that Venezuela bought, three have crashed: the first two, due to engine failure, and the second one, an F-16B, crashed during a maneuver on an air show at Base Aerea El Libertador, where Grupo 16 is based. In this accident, the first and second commander of the squadron where killed. The Venezuelan Air Force was looking for US government approval to replace these two aircraft and was planning to overhaul and update the remaining 22 airframes. At the end of October 1997, the US government approved the sale of the two F-16s, as well as an upgrade packet including the F-100-PW-220E. However, the purchase of the two attrition airframes has been halted until further notice. The Nieuport 21 was designed to be a long range escort fighter. It used a Nieuport 17 airframe with the smaller Nieuport 11 engine to reduce fuel consumption and extend its range. The lighter weight gave the plane a good climb rate, but the lower power engine reduced its speed. The Nieuport 21 served along with the Nieuport 17 on the Western Front. It was also licensed to the Dux factory in Russia and large numbers were used on the Eastern Front. My version of the Nieuport 21 is armed with a single Lewis gun mounted on the upper wing and has a loadout for eight Le Prieur Rockets for Balloon Busting missions. This package features two skins - one French, one Russian - a set of decals, and a fully functional cockpit. My skinning templates are included with the download. This plane uses the Le Prieur Rockets created by P10ppy and a sound file created by Nixou (included with his Realistic Engine Sounds package). Both of these files are available in the Combat Ace Download section. Both of these files are used by other aircraft, so you may already have them. I have included Nixou's sound file with this package in case you don't already have it. Credits: My thanks to Ojcar for making the data file for the Nieuport 21. My thanks to Nixou for making the sound file for the Le Rhone 80hp engine. Installation instructions: This aircraft uses P10ppy's Le Prieur rockets available in the CombatAce downloads section. You may already have it. If you don't, you'll have to download it and install it into your Weapons folder. For FE1: Unzip the file and move the folder named "Nieuport21" into your FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. If you don't already have it, copy the file named "LeRhone9c80hp1m4" from my Sounds folder into yours. For FE2: Unzip the file and move the folder named "Nieuport21" into your FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. Then in your FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, create a new folder named "Nieuport21". Move the folder named "D" from the Airplanes/Nieuport21 folder into the Decals/Nieuport21 folder you just made. If you don't already have it, copy the file named "LeRhone9c80hp1m4" from my Sounds folder into yours. -

HQ-9 Self Propelled Air Defence System The FD-2000/HQ-9 was developed to provide a long range SAM capability, distinct from the medium range capabilities of the HQ-12/KS-1 series. The FT-2000 is a derivative which is fitted with an anti-radiation seeker and intended for engagements against AEW&C/AWACS and stand-off jamming aircraft. The HQ-9 is supported by the HT-233 phased array engagement radar, like the H-200 modelled on the MPQ-53 and 30N6E designs, carried on a Taian TAS5501 series 10 x 10 high mobility vehicle, common to the HQ-9 TEL and similar in design to the S-400's BAZ-6900 series vehicle. Chinese sources claim C-band operation with 300 MHz receiver/antenna bandwidth, detection and tracking range of 150/100 km, and monopulse angle tracking to resist jamming. The design bears considerable similarity to the 30N6E series, especially in the antenna design. Recently disclosed imagery shows the use of the self-propelled Type 305A, Type 305B and Type 120 radars as the battery acquisition radar component. The designation FD-2000 is for export configurations of the HQ-9. Instalation: ------------------------------------------------------------- Put the content of the objects/ folder in your mod folder. 2 pointsInteresting design concept, but it doesn't work. The zero lift drag coefficient for the Spitfire I was 0.0200, and for the Mk Vb was 0.0235. These Spitfires have total Cd0=0.0195, which is a little lower than reality, but close. The problem is that the airspeed at various altitudes is way too high. If you look at http://www.spitfireperformance.com/spitfire-I.html you will see that the Spitfire Mk I (with the original fixed pitch prop) could manage: 307 mph TAS (243 kts IAS) at 5,000 feet 328 mph TAS (237 kts IAS) at 10,00 feet 348 mph TAS (232 kts IAS) at 15,00 feet 360 mph TAS (223 kts IAS) at 20,00 feet 349 mph TAS (202 kts IAS) at 25,000 feet The later variable pitch prop could manage a little faster than that, by a few mph (the numbers are bit lower down that web page). I've just tested these new Spitfires, and with this extra and unhistorical (x1.63) engine power, they can do 20-30mph more than reality (264 kts IAS at 5,000 feet, 261 at 10,000, 254 at 15,000, 245 at 20,000, and 232 at 25,000, for the Mk I). In 1940 that was unattainable. They are beautiful models, but these are uber-Spitfires, and not realistic.

Ludun 2000 (LD-2000) SPAAGM The Ludun-2000 is a Chinese copy of the Thales Nederland Goalkeeper 30 mm close-in weapons system (CIWS) mounted on the rear a 8 x 8 single cab flat bed truck and generator and system container behind the cabin. The Type 730B gun is a copy of the General Electric GAU-8 30 mm x 173 mm seven-barrel Avenger gun used on the A-10. It fires at 4,200 rounds-per-minute with the APDS round having a muzzle velocity of 1,150m/sec and the HE cartridge of 920m/sec. There are two 500 round cylindrical magazines either side of the gun. By design, the LD-2000 is essentially a land based derivative of the existing PLAN Type 730 CIWS, itself modelled on the closed loop tracking US Phalanx CIWS and EU Goalkeeper CIWS. Buk M2E Surface to Air missile system The Buk missile system is a family of self-propelled, medium-range surface-to-air missile systems developed by the Soviet Union and its successor state, the Russian Federation, and designed to counter cruise missiles, smart bombs, fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft, and unmanned aerial vehicles The Buk system was created as a replacement of the 9k12 Kub in the air defenses forces of the Soviet Union and succesor states. A typical batallion consist of a command vehicle, a target acquisition radar vehicle and 6 TELAR vehicles, with three TELs. The M2E variant uses the 6x6 MZKT-6922 wheeled vehicle, in order to produce a hight road mobility and low operating cost variant of the system. The pack contains the 9K317E Buk M2E / MZKT-6922 TELAR and the 9S18M1E Snow Drift acquisition Radar mounted on a MZKT-6922 trnasport. Finally, this pack is still a BETA, need some fine tunning inthe missile and system performance and other vehicles asociated with the system like the command post and the low level radar. Is released for the CA community to have a modern variant of the Buk missile to play with. 1 pointToday we are taking a trip back to 2004, a time when as you can see from the photo above featured PC CDROMs! Before Internet speeds for most were high enough to consider sending entire game files they had to distribute games to people using good old fashioned Compact Disks. The shiny CD came complete with its own (Jewel) case with cover and even a printed manual. As you can see a time when even Thirdwire had to distribute games and make them look like games used to - the manual even tells me to go to http://www.softwarehelpdesk.co.uk/ for technical support…………..ha looks like that domain is up for sale! Looking at the back we can see it even ran on Windows ME with 256MB of RAM! - Yes, I had to look back to remember what Win ME was – the very last of the Win 9x line before Microsoft thankfully ditched that and we got Win 2000 then Win XP. Of course, in 2004 or nearly all of that decade Win XP was the only game in town for home users and it was great for its time. For anybody who had bought Strike Fighters: Project 1, a Vietnam game was a logical and most welcome step forward….a game that recreates the intense air combat experience in the skies of North Vietnam at the height of the air campaign……………..what could be better! The manual lists the Player and AI aircraft, and although the VPAF selection looks fairly complete, the US selection was very limited compared to the later Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam. This was a time when there was hope for the future and many opportunities to modify the hell out of the game and start getting into place the absolute ton of things not included in the box. Terrain & Environment As you might see (from the case) the Terrain that came with WOV wasn’t much better than what comes with one of Thirdwires Phone & Tablet PC games – a pretty poor and unrealistic looking barren wasteland. Unsurprisingly it was not long before modders produced somewhat better tilesets - one of the first I remember and although free was used by Yankee Air Pirate later: The RA-5 Vigilante - does not come with WOV There was a payware tileset for sale at Razbams store at some point – but suffered from having obvious borders and tile edges – also 512 x 512 bitmap files were pretty big at the time but very low res by today’s standards. This later effort includes a version of Starys Green Hell which included a lot more trees for the first time: Vietnam was hell - Green hell! When released WOV also had no clouds either but they were added in a later patch: Low level clouds, gone but not forgotten Game play The North Vietnam Air Force (VPAF) and air defences were quite well set up as part of the terrain, with relevant SAM and AAA models for the era along with relevant AI. The MiGs varied in effectiveness from patch to patch whereas some of the SA-2s had a Kill probability of about 99% - this was rightly toned down somewhat in Strike Fighters 2 (SF2). WOV included an airbourne FAC (Forward Air Controller) role and this was usually represented by an 0-1E Birddog flying over the battlefield (Callsign Snoopy) – this was removed from SF2. The game added Carrier operations for the first time although the carrier was pretty lonely by itself most of the time, and players could only fly off it in campaigns and scripted single missions! The B-52s thought they were safe from Thirdwires lesser spotted MiG-17F Payware There were some options for payware – mostly from Razbam and Yankee Air Pirate – both had air of controversy that I won’t go into here. One of the very few payware aircraft was the A-1 skyraider pack Before the Mission Editor arrived in SF2 you had to create single missions using Notepad basically, quite a time consuming and difficult process. Yankee Air Pirate basically created single missions based on real missions from Vietnam and was quite an important addition for anyone with an interest in that subject. Populated carrier deck Landing and taking off in Hueys from smaller boats like this Shooting down Colts in Hueys Shooting the side gun in Hueys - Get some!. Of course, with scripted missions you can do quite a few things you cannot in auto generated single missions and campaigns! Advance clone army! The VPAF, masters of camouflage Looking back Wings Over Vietnam certainly started out as a fairly serious attempt to put together a decent standalone Vietnam war Air Combat simulator and in that respects, did a pretty decent job, but only if you took time to add a lot of the mods available and change the game yourself. Graphically it was using DX9.0c so was up to date in that regards although again you had to add mods to get it looking to what it should have perhaps been out of the box. F-111A - not included with WOV EB-66 - not included with WOV …………and Here we are at the tail end of 2017 and still no real alternative to WOV and SF2V on the Vietnam War flight sim front.

1 pointGepard: I have never seen or heard of "attached node" in ground objects. Your Data.INI numbers for the FlaMG look right, and if they are taken from the LOD Viewer I'm sure they are correct. The only thing I would try would be to change MuzzlePosition=0.50,1.384,2.82 to MuzzlePosition=-0.50,-1.384,2.82, and see if that changes things for the better. Also, make sure that the YawModelNodeName=cupola turret and PitchModelNodeName=machine gun are the correct names in the LOD.

1 pointFeel free to restore the correct values in your files. It was not done so in an enthusiastic mood. It was more constrained by the performance in flight and by the opponents from the downloads section (roaring in the skies of England like Me-262s). So yes every engine has its power multiplied by 1.63 or something close and It's not an error. The endurance has been checked also with the fuel consumption of these overpowered engines. Drag values have been checked from a study of the real aircraft. With the real engine power values you may have to lower them to reach the right top speed at the right altitude (in hard mode flying).

1 pointNice-looking aircraft! The flight models are rather enthusiastic, though - the Mk 1 and 1b have been given 1730 hp engines, (should be 1030 hp), and the Mk2s have 1915 hp (should be 1175 hp). With uber-Spitfires like this it is no wonder the Germans lost the Battle of Britain!

1 pointView File Nieuport 21 The Nieuport 21 was designed to be a long range escort fighter. Submitter Stephen1918 Submitted 12/05/2021 Category Nieuport

1 pointI don't understand why didn't the Russians Army used these kind of Jammers in Libya or Syria? or atleast learned the lessens from these two conflicts and used Jammers in Nagorno-Karabakh? It's really simple because the Turkish TB2 have there Jammer support unit that counter any kind of Jammers and they are the KORAL is a land-based transportable electronic warfare system developed to jam and deceive hostile radars Service history Used bySee Operators WarsSyrian civil war Libyan civil war 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. By the way the TB2 do not use radio controlled ignition, they use laser guided smart gliding ammunition that detonate by hitting the target.
