After having won the competition for a light attack plane, FIAT had encountered problems with the structural integrity of its two-part fuselage system in the G-91. The first model, built the way it was meant to, in the wind-channel showed the possibility of unusual wear in the connection system of the two fuselage parts, which could have lead to the breaking and the loss of the plane in medium to high-g exposures. The construction team had to overthink a possibility for a workaround without making the airplane much heavier, more expensive and more difficult to maintain. Italian minister of defense, Paolo Emilio Taviani, not happy about this matter, sought an other way to reinforce the italian air force with a suitable and comparable aircraft until the problems of the G-91 would have been solved. He was then offered the A-4 Skyhawk, which was also a light and easy to maintain aircraft. Three italian pilots of the Aeronautica Militare received the possibility to test the aircraft in the US. Their reports included a satisfactory review of this nimble aircraft. It was described as nice to fly and easy to maintain. The ministry of defense, not willing to upset FIAT but showing impatience, ordered 72 A4D-2N (renamed A-4C; with an option for eventually more), which got allocated to squadrons of the 6th, 32nd and 51st Stormo in 1962. An A-4C of the 32nd Stormo, 1962 At the end of the 1960s, the A-4Cs got replaced by the more modern A-4Es, with better engine and radar and also the possibility to take more payload on board. Some of the A-4C, which some of the italian pilots called "topolino" (little mouse), got retained for training purposes while most of the fleet got back to the US or sold to other countries. A-4Es from the 51st Stormo, 1970 At the end of the 1960s, FIAT finally was able to start delivering G-91 to the air forces. Italy, though being local customer, was doubtful about replacing the Skyhawks with the Ginas, since all pilots were satisfied with the capabilities and the flight characteristics of the aircraft. Mario Tanassi, then minister of defense, declared, after having discussed this matter with the Adreotti administration, that the Skyhawks would be replaced by G-91 in a matter of two years with the exception of the 6th Stormo. The replaced Skyhawks got then sold to other countries or scrapped for spare parts. The 6th Stormo was the last wing having the Skyhawk, receiving in 1973 the last upgrade with the A-4F. A-4Fs of the 6th Stormo The wing did not have the Skyhawk for a long time. In 1978, MoD Attilio Ruffini on behalf of the italian government, got into negotiations with SecDef Harold Brown of the Carter Administration about the purchase of 24 A-6 and 4 EA-6 aircraft of Grumman for replacing the Skyhawks. In Spring 1979, the negotiations were successful and Italy was to receive the new aircraft in early 1980. The days of the Skyhawk in italian service got fewer and fewer. The last Skyhawk was taken out of commission and sold to Brazil in April 1980. A-6S' of the 6th Stormo, around Summer 1980 EA-6S', Summer 1980

I didn't understood why the pictures were so dark. I thought "C'mon it was 1948, they knew how to take a photograph back then" ( / what's wrong with them !?! xD) And while I was studying the fading of the green paint on black and white pictures, my brain did its daily effort and I realised : the Spitfires had been repaint in NATO camo colors, dark grey / dark green / PRU blue. I used these values : Dark grey / Basalt Grey : hexa 575D64 Dark green / Yellow Olive : hexa 453F2F PRU blue : hexa 5C7A82 If you have more reliable values for these colors please tell me ! (the tail is in lighter olive green on purpose)

Minimum Requirements Required products from ThirdWire: Strike Fighters 2, July 2013 patch Strike Fighters 2: Israel, July 2013 patch Strike Fighters 2: North Atlantic, July 2013 patch Full support for: Mission Editor DLC Campaign Customizer DLC System specs: OS: Windows 7 x86 Processor: Dual Core 2.7 GHz Memory: 4.0 GB RAM Hard Drive: 17.0 GB Free Space Video Card: 1024 MB DirectX 10 Sneak Peek Disclaimer CombatACE.com shall at all times retain ownership of the Software as originally downloaded by you and all subsequent downloads of the Software by you. In no event, unless required by applicable law or agreed to in writing, shall CombatACE.com, or any person be liable for any loss, expense or damage, of any type or nature arising out of the use of, or inability to use this installer or program, including, but not limited to, claims, suits or causes of action involving alleged infringement of copyrights, patents, trademarks, trade secrets, or unfair competition. The Operation Desert Storm: 30th Anniversary Edition modification does NOT comply with CombatACE's Freeware Licensing. Various contents of this modification are exclusive, as such you are NOT allowed to share, redistribute and/or make use of the mod and/or its contents for other purposes, without the consent of the mod's developers. Contents of the modification are the copyright of their respective authors. Notes about the installer Beware, the mod is available only in the ISO format. You can either mount it on a virtual drive, burn it on a DVD like in the good old days, or unzip it with 7-Zip or equivalent software. The installer will automatically detect your installation of the required Strike Fighters 2 games by reading through the registry keys. Game folders that are copied from or manually moved from where they were originally installed are not supported. You need all three aforementioned Strike Fighters 2 games and they must be installed with ThirdWire's original installers, not manually copied from other sources nor moved elsewhere after installation to other folders or drives. If you do not meet any of these requirements, installation cannot proceed and you are on your own. If you install all required games properly, the installation of the mod will proceed correctly as intended. The installer then lets you choose where to install the mod folder; you can even install the mod on a different drive or partition than the one where Strike Fighters 2 is installed. No further user input nor manual edits after installation are ever required; the installer takes care of creating all proper links to your desired path for the mod folder. After installation is over, simply run the mod by using the created Desktop and/or Start Menu links. If you have a previous version of the mod installed, please use the uninstaller to remove it completely. Clean installation is mandatory. You might want to make a backup of the Controls folder, so that you can easily restore your controller settings afterwards. Suggestions on common issues Make sure that you are using your dedicated GPU. By default, Strike Fighters 2 usually selects the integrated GPU you may have on your CPU, which is much weaker in terms of VRAM. In case you have frequent crashes or black/missing textures, I highly suggest you download and install the DXVK graphics wrapper (x86 DLLs) into your Strike Fighters 2 game folder: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk. You need a Vulkan-compatible GPU. The wrapper can greatly improve the experience with the mod. With DXVK I can play the mod on a mere Intel UHD 710, whereas without it the mod would always crash to desktop. Go to Sound and set Sound Channels to 32. We got reports that 16 is not enough and will cause crashes on some systems, due to the higher quality sounds included within the mod. The mod is pretty heavy for the game engine despite huge optimizations. Strike Fighters 2's engine is 32bit only and apparently does not manage VRAM properly; consecutive campaign missions might show black/missing textures on objects or cause crashes to desktop because the game does not release the occupied VRAM from the previous mission you played, thus the more missions are loaded consecutively, the more easily you may run out of memory. Set Ground Objects to Medium or Low, Horizon Distance to Near, and Shadows to Medium or Low. These are the most troubling settings. Avoid Unlimited settings as much as possible. If the mod used to work and suddenly crashes to desktop, updating or reinstalling video drivers should help. Make sure that DirectX June 2010 Redistributables are also installed, they are included inside the ISO disk image of the mod. Inside the mod folder, you'll find some extra text files. "(Coalition Order of Battle)" should be of your interest; the mod's terrain covers the entirety of Iraq, at the cost of not having all of Saudi Arabia; this means that a number of important units are based on airbases that are beyond the in-game playable area. With those units you always spawn near the target area, you'll never get to start from a runway nor to land on the assigned runway beyond the invisible wall. You have an entire list of the affected units in the aforementioned text file. By pressing ALT+N, the plane returns to base automatically. The mod is fully compatible with the Campaign Customizer and Mission Editor DLCs by ThirdWire. The Campaign Customizer might be an alternative way to experience those off map units I mentioned previously, since it assigns you to a random airbase of the in-game flyable area. Escort missions are often broken, this is not an issue of the mod, but a bug of the stock game; sometimes the AI flight you escort does not engage its target and keeps flying in a straight line instead of following waypoints, thus the trigger for mission success will never happen. Abandon the mission or retry it if the issue happens, sometimes it works. Pray for ThirdWire AKA Tsuyoshi Kawahito to work on a 64bit version of Strike Fighters 2, maybe even with support for DirectX 12. With that done, any out of memory issues should become an old memory.

I'd reccomend the building be not so densly packed. Don't forget, the terrain have to place target items inside those boundries. up to and including full rail yards. I should know, i've had that issue with MANY terrains I've built but they do look good

Dear Friends, Another update, 5.105, is available now. Today we have released the first two Flying Circus Vol.III aircraft - the Halberstadt D.II and Nieuport 11 early Great War fighters. The emergence of the Nieuport 11 at the front finally put an end to the devastating superiority of the Fokker monoplanes, which for a time had become known as the "Fokker Scourge." During the Battle of Verdun in February 1916, Nieuport 11s inflicted heavy damage on the enemy's air forces, which forced the German High Command to review the tactics of combat aircraft. Many famous aces of WWI (including Georges Guynemer) had their first major successes flying the Bébé. Most of the pilots were impressed by Halberstadt D.II's better performance compared to the older Fokker monoplanes, especially its better climb and speed and very quick, easy, and responsive controls which gave it good maneuverability in the hands of experienced German pilots. Our friends LuftManu and Avimimus have teamed up to prepare interesting videos of these birds that give a nice overview. The release of this update commences the Early Access program for Flying Circus Vol.III - if you consider acquiring it eventually, these new aircraft are only a few mouse clicks away right now. Of course, there are other improvements and fixes in the update change log: 5.105 Halberstadt D.II is available via the Flying Circus Vol. III Early Access program; Nieuport 11 is available via the Flying Circus Vol. III Early Access program; Photo recon missions on the Arado Ar 234 jet are added to Bodenplatte Career mode timeframe (Sonderkommando Sperling); Fw 190 A-3, A-5, A-6, and A-8 external textures and paint schemes improved (Martin =ICDP= Catney); Certain Spitfire Mk.IXe, P-47D-22, and P-47D-28 paint schemes corrected (Martin =ICDP= Catney); Sky Nomads campaign updated: difficulty level is lowered a bit in the first mission, the text is corrected, Spanish and French translations added thanks to enthusiasts E69_Cananas and DN308; Issues with a line drawing order on the map that could result in a wrong-looking mission route on the map have been corrected; Original ShVAK gun sounds are restored due to popular demand - the new sounds will be reworked to better fit in the overall acoustic concept; A couple of bugs in Normandy and Rhineland Career missions that could result in the player flight not traveling to the next waypoint have been found and fixed; Issues in the transport aircraft missions that could prevent them from meeting their escorts have been found and fixed; AI pilots will more efficiently wait for their lagging-behind wingmen and pursue enemy aircraft while being far from the rest of the flight. The work on the next update has already started - according to the plan, it will bring the Li-2 and possibly other new previously announced aircraft. Meanwhile, we hope you enjoy the new aircraft and, most importantly, the remaining third of the summer days! Make every one of them count. See you in the skies!

Geezer German pilots for FE 2 This is a pack of new textures focused on pilots that Geezer released years ago. to many polys in one node can cause the wrong presentation in the game...if your fuselage is one mesh then I can see from here that it is too many polygons indeed. You will have to divide it into a few nodes - just do it smart and 'cut' pieces in 'smart' places. smoothing groups will work but I gues you have unwelded vertexes, then it means you have double or triple count of polys. Select by drag and click one vertex - if it will display vertex (example ) 235 selected than it is ok...if menu will display '3 vertexes selected' than you have to Select vertexes in area and click target weld and set range to 0,001 this should solve problem. And you have to do it probably to whole model.

All in all, this is a mod that restores the visual effects of Flare according to the photos IRL, you can refer to the screenshot I uploaded. In addition to purely visual effects, the response to gravity has also been adjusted by the way, so this mod will look more realistic overall. And of course, this is still a BETA version, I think I need to make further adjustments. Usage: Copy Effects and Objects folders into your SF2 main folder

Sud Aviation/SNCASE SA.341 and SA.342 Gazelle Ver 1.0 for SF2 This is a third party addon of SA.341 and SA.342 Gazelle helicopter. This is orignal model by BPAo moded by me. The original flight model is standard as on many free to download helicopters modified by me. I am not using airbrakes or flaps but flying fast and slow is stil possible, even hovering with little practice. It is designed for and works only in SF2 series. And will never work in SF1. Please read this as some info from here might be useful in game. ************************************************************* This is FREEWARE-DONATIONWARE and it CANNOT be distrubuted unless permissions are granted by myself. The original readmes, if any, and all other pieces of the package MUST remain intact. The names of all contributors, modders, suppliers, etc =MUST= be listed in any new readmes. Lucky, thanks to Crusader I had access to original max file. So I could work a little on this great helo. At first I was planing only to rebuild middle east Gazelles to have some balance of power in Wings Over Israel game. But having oportunity to work on file brought me at this point. And I decided to go with French Gazelles first. Generaly model is almost the same as old one. My work was to add some parts here and there (rwr, cable cutters, new athos, some internal parts, skids etc..). Rearanged animations and added new. Weapons/pylons are part of airframe. Ive added new rotor. Also I've rearanged UVW mapping. So basicaly skins are 70% new. I was putting some hangar/loading screenies but finaly it covers only few models. Rest must be done in future. This mod represents few versions of Gazelle. Unarmed called 'Lisse'. Early 1973 version without APX-397 sight and late already equipped with 'Athos' Armed with 20mm cannon called 'Canon' and Version armed with HOT missiles usually called HOT but here it is split into two models; one with Athos sight and second with Viviene. Also you can find here Air to Air escort version -early called 'Celtic' and late called "Mistral" Mistral/Celtic version is set as attack role and has similar aircraft dutties as attack version plus escort. Thing is that you may consider changing role only to recon/escort as it will not perform well agianst ground targets. ******************IMPORTANT****************** This addon works with my WeaponPACK (included in rar file). Most of pylons/launch rails are part of airframe. So in weapons folder you have to put only ini files. All of weapon stations are made as specific station code and will work only with this cargo pack. Of course you can edit and use any other weapons availalbe. Weapons included: SA.341F2 'Canon' NC621 20mm automatic canon. Two verson low and high RPM rate. By default in loadout.ini it is low-rpm always. Better do not give hi-rpm to wingman. SA.341M 'HOT' Sometimes called as SA.341F 'HOT' first model equipped with HOT missiles. Only 40 build because of underpowered engine. Somehow it was in use and passed form unit to unit until 90's - HOT-1,2,3 missiles. SA.342L1 'Celtic'/'Mistral' Mistral Air to air missiles. SA.342M and M1 HOT-1,2,3 missiles. All late versions have stations for flare launchers, suppresed exhaust and/or engine intake filter. IMPORTANT THING ABOUT WEAPONSTATIONS. F2 'Canon' and M/M1 version 90 and 93 have weaponstations calling for use Mistral ATAM. THIS IS NOT for use on those helos. It is to have possibility to assign L1 Celtic/Mistral for wingman to have Air to air escort. So do not use it on F or M version as it will not apear there. Cocpits. All versions have dedicated cockpits. It is simplified and unified version of Gazelle cockpit. In every pit you can switch from pilot to co-pilot/weapon operator seat. On co pilot seat you have access to 1x "binocular" sight Athos/Viviane. By choosing radar on you will have "sniper" zoom. I dont know how many x zoom is that. It's zooming. And it is acurate somehow. With little practice you can even hit targets from 1-1.2 km. aiming crosshair is 'what if' since I never found the look of real one In HOT equipped version by selectiong HOT missile sight will lock on target as all HOT missiles are made as EOGR. As Mistral and Celtic are escort versions ther is not much features in cockpit. Animations and standard commands: LANDING GEAR - Nose light deploy/retract at any speed. ANIMATION 1 - right side door. ANIMATION 2 - left side door. ANIMATION 3 - rear doors. Thereis also parking animation that works only when aircraft will be placed by game engine on airfiled as parked aircraft. Flying. As with all my previous helos flying is quite easy. With little practice you can even hoover. Without fake flaps and airbrakes. Important here to control is using rudder and vector thrust control. Normaly throtle vector control on 88-89 degree increase power 55% wait little and then increase to 100% and helo will take off nicely. 341 version got little less power in engine. Skins. There is just few skins but lot of use of it in few units. So it is more about decals assigned. All serial numbers are based on available photos and ALAT documents and are historicaly correct. I was trying to put all real units with real codes/numbers for specific year. Not always easy. There is still some numbers missing. Inside there is seperate folder Called "Operation_Dauget' Inside you will find skins made for use with ODS mod for SF2. It contains skins and decals for some units during French part of Operation Desert Storm. French codename for his operation was Dauget. Only thing you have to do is coppy all files exept skin folders and use it in you ODS mod. Also specific loadouts for this period are provided. Due to hot climate/engine power, ALAT used only two HOT missiles. Same thing nearly ten years earlier during operation Manta in Tchad. When i say "Painful" i mean everyday desturbing my sleeping. Effecrivness of Iranian drones is zero. Only mental. You wake up not fresh. I think thhese cruise missiles arethe same shit. Shahed - 136 , Grad Partizan etc the weapon of civilian terror, not the weapon in classic meanin. The target of this shit is not point, is not wehicle is not electrick station. The targrt is town itsels. Its like a bomb with nails in the underground station. Psychological effect but not military casulties. They are vert annoing but thats not gamechanging weapon. The same with all other missiles i have seen.
