3 pointsHello everyone! The Mirage IIIS is the whole different aircraft compared to the Mirage IIIs series. This aircraft is so interesting and unique with many of customizations, including the technologies of Mirage III and Hughes radar for HM-55 (AIM-26B). It have been journey connecting the dots and matching the puzzles. By analog, it is like discovering the fossil pieces and you try to put it together, some of it match one dinosaur while some belong to other dinosaur. Same thing with Mirage IIIS various pictures I found. What I realized is that Mirage IIIS have gone through upgrade during 1988. So Pre 1988, the cockpit of Mirage IIIS did not show RWR and it have more simple navigation moving map scope below the radar scope. And I noticed how the radar scope look a lot like MA-1 of F-106. Then I learned that Hughes TARAN 18 based on F-106's MA-1 FCS. Interesting! The radar (Mirage IIIS Early) Cockpit of Post 1988 upgrade Mirage IIIS: NOTE: Notice the different scope for navigation moving map and the RWR right side of radar scope. And there is light gray bar on front right part of the scope. Radar (Mirage IIIS Late) NBOTE: I want to comment that, It is quite challenging to find the actual picture of post 1988 upgrade radar scope. This is the best one I can find. This was a 'hit and miss" when I found the Mirage IIIS mod for flight simulation. There are picture of radar scope. ere is screenshot of Mirage IIIS (Early) TW Style version: Mirage IIIS (Late) TW Style version: I am currently learning about modding Avionics70.DLL. I would like to share the notes I found from researches: Eagle114th

Simmers Paint Shop Color Chips 6/29/2025 With the loss of Simmers Paint Shop, a lot of fantastic information has been lost forever for those texture artists that like the ability to fully match the proper colors for any and (mostly) all eras and countries. Listed are not only the color chips, the the R/G/B and Hex values to (re)create them in your own image manipulation programs (GIMP, Photoshop, Paint.net, etc) These are given the US Federal Standard, and for Luftwaffe, the RLM converted to FS coding. I don't remember when I found these, but here they are. Included are the original png format images, and I've converted them to jpgs for easier viewing with various and sundry programs. Be advised, the images are QUITE large, so you'll need to zoom in on them. Included herein are chips for: Japan - IJN, IJAAF, JASDF Germany - Luftwaffe RLM/RAL UK - RAF British Standard Russia/Soviet Union - VVS colorlist USA - USAF, USN, US Army I hope you enjoy these, and make good use of them!!! Even though I uploaded to the SF2 category, these are usefull for any and all games or what-have-yous that you'd like to use them for!! :) Wrench Kevin Stein -

1 pointRed Tops, @Wrench, Red Tops... Redeye was a US MANPAD system before the Stinger. @crisisloaner Cocas has a delta winged Lightning in the SF2 What-If section that might look even better as a soviet knock-off.

1 pointSitRep: Most of the tiles are now on the new standard. Still to do are the coastal tiles and the city river tiles. I hope i can do this tomorrow. The problem of my very first terrains are "potholes" in the landscape. To cure this will need some time. But i hope i can release a first Beta version of DRV 2.0 terrain on sunday.

1 pointone of V2K's last birds. it was a challenge up until it wasnt heres another collaboration 'tween me and Ed. we had a few of them over the years
-
1 pointI'd forgotten how much fun this bird was to fly. No missiles, no bombs, usually no one shooting at us: just making holes in the sky, and turning JP-4 into noise & pollution. Using the runway on the FWS school map presents an interesting takeoff challenge at the EOR. Wingman flirting with the trees... Just fun to fly...

1 pointSmall progress report --- Cadiz, and the Bay of. San Fernando in the distance, and Puerto Real to the left. Unfortunately, there's not enough room (tile wise) to add Puerto de Santa Maria, which I'd really like to. Given the historical significance, as Columbus sailed from there. I'll try and figure something out. (and yes, I do know the penninsula is faaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrr to fat!!!)

1 pointIn an era of shifting geopolitical dynamics, the United States sought to withdraw from it's role as the world's policeman and it's President saw the opportunity for the ultimate defence deal - leasing Nimitz-class aircraft carriers and selling the accompanying aircraft to certain friendly countries. The increase in US defence spending and a ramping up of Ford class carrier production ('the Admirals have a name picked out for the next carrier. It's a beautiful name, the best, but I can't tell you what it is') enabled the US to prematurely release some of the earlier Nimitz-class carriers from front-line duties, and while such a move would be unprecedented, it would serve both the US and the recipient nations' interests in maintaining regional stability whilst reducing America's spend on defending others, and offset the trade deficit between the US and countries it had accused of 'ripping them off' by selling more to America than America had sold to them. Japan was the first recipient. Previously constrained by constitutional limitations on offensive military capabilities, the country had gradually expanded its defense posture in response to growing threats from China and North Korea. Leasing a Nimitz-class carrier would significantly enhance Japan’s ability to project power and defend its territorial integrity, particularly around the East China Sea and Taiwan Strait, as well as to protect it's trade routes through the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea. For the U.S., leasing a carrier could strengthen the alliance, share the burden of maintaining maritime security, and enable a more distributed force posture without requiring permanent overseas American carrier basing. The carriers would retain the CVN-xx designation, and could be recalled to US Navy service if necessary, allowing the U.S. to retain strategic influence over the assets, although the recipient naton was allowed to choose to rename the vessel. Along with the lease of the carrier came the purchase of aircraft. JASDF F-15 units were re-equipped with various versions of the F/A-18 Superhornet, F-35A orders were switched to the navalised F-35C variant, and additional E-2 Hawkeyes were purchased, as crews from both the carrier and it's air wing were sent to the appropriate US Navy schools to learn new skills and US Navy personnel were seconded as advisers for at least the first deployment. By early 2027 CVN-70, formerly USS Carl Vinson, set off on it's first deployment as JS Akagi, a historic name chosen in honour of the earlier carrier that had been flagship of the 1st Air Fleet, the Kido Butai. That first cruise set the template for most future deployments, beginning with a 3 week shakedown in the Kuril Islands, including intercepts of snooping Russian Bears and other aircraft types, followed by a power projection transit through the South China Sea, including exercises with friendly nations' navies. Exiting via the Straits of Malacca into the Indian Ocean, further exercises were held with the Indian Navy while real-world ASW and air intercept sorties by the air wing kept prying Pakistani (and their Chinese allies') assets at arm's length, before Akagi took up station for around six months in the Arabian Sea. Forays into both the Straits of Hormuz and the Red Sea would feature in all cruises by the Akagi and it's battle group, and the air wing would fly many combat missions, hitting targets in the air, on land and at sea as needed. Relief on station would be by either a US carrier, or more frequently a former US carrier, and Akagi would return home, again making it's presence felt in the South China Sea, for rest and refit before the next deployment.

ALBATROS D I REDUX A workover of my previously uploaded Albatros DI models, I have completely reworked the skins and markings, there are 5 versions in this upload, A factory "Standard" skin in ply and Linen, a version with a lighter stained ply and more yellowis Linen for the wings and empenage. The next one is an all over 2 colour camouflage over blue scheme, then an rework of the previously released DI of Prince Friedrich Karl von Preußen, which is an all over sea green colour, there IS a discussion as to whether this aircraft had a camouflage scheme on the upper surfaces, however it is only speculation, as there are no actual photos I can find of this machine. The final DI is an all blue with camouflage upper surfaces, of Hans Bethge of Jasta 1. Everything as always is packed up and ready to go, just unzip, and drop into your directory where you have all your other flying circusses !!! Just be aware it will over write any existing DI's you may have already installed, so dont forget to backup or rename the original files, to avoid any unfortunate mistakes !!!! Included are all the sound files, decals, guns, pilots and of course the actual Albatros. A shout out to Steven 1918 of course, without whom we wouldnt have the DI/DII Albatros in the first place, also to Geezer for the Pilot figure, and anyone else I may have inadvertently forgotten. As always...............................ENJOY !!! -
