    The only foreign buyer of the Panther was the Argentine Naval Aviation, which bought 28 ex-USN F9F-2B aircraft in 1957; the first 10 arrived in 1958. Only 24 aircraft were put in service, the rest were used as spares. The first flight of an Argentine Panther was in December 1958, and the last aircraft was put in service in January 1961. The catapults on the then only Argentine carrier, ARA Independencia, were considered not powerful enough to launch the F9F, so the aircraft were land-based. However, in July 1963 a Panther (serial 0453/3-A-119) landed on Independencia as part of trials; becoming the first jet to land on an Argentine aircraft carrier. Argentine Navy F9F-2 Panthers saw combat in the 1963 Argentine Navy Revolt, bombing and strafing a column of the Army 8th Tank Regiment which was advancing on the rebelling Punta Indio Naval Air Base. The attack destroyed several M4 Sherman tanks, at the cost of one F9F Panther shot down. The Argentine Panthers were involved in the general mobilization during the 1965 border clash between Argentina and Chile but no combat occurred. They were taken out of service in 1969 due to the lack of spare parts and replaced with Douglas A-4Q Skyhawks. The Argentine Navy also operated the F-9 Cougar.     Additional gun sounds and the latest engine sounds can be found in my FM update pack folders (see the big ver. 9.5 folder, also the smaller ver. 9.7 folder in that pack). As well, double-check that you are using the latest soundlist.ini file in your Flight folder (I have included my latest one in the ver. 9.7 Flight folder).     I'm now working on bringing these to FAB aircraft into the SF2-verse, and require some help. I have a listing of the FAB serials (4462-4627), but need to know where the 'break' is for the 2 versions. Also, trying to figure out WHAT gun and how much ammo is carried in the (unfortunately) built-into-the-LOD under wing gunpods on the AT-26 Xivante (2 seater). any and all assistance will be GREATLY appriciated!!     This is one of the nice scripts that I use with my 3d max created by Andreas Meissner This tool can help you to clean and speed up your scene. Hover with your cursor over the clean-buttons to see tooltips for further information. Additional Info: Installation: Drag and drop the file "install macro.ms" into your scene You can create a toolbar button by using the macro under Customize > Category: "# Scripts" > Cleaner Tips: If you look inside the folder .../Cleaner/clean/deactivated/... you can find further functions. To use them you need to move them into the folder .../Cleaner/clean/... Before cleaning duplicate objects, you should select and isolate these objects to check if they are really duplicates! The "Texture Filtering" will speed up your rendering cause textures like leaves, flowers, and ivys will be set to filtering: none, but this will change the look of your rendering, use with care!     I dunno...I might have to soften my dislike of the AI in CloD. Just a bit, since it shows occasional signs of being able to fight as well as fly, though sometimes, in the same mission, it seems to be able to do neither. Next mission in the RAF redux campaign is a transit flight from Hawkinge to Manston to join my new squadron and swap my Hurricane for a Spitfire. The chap who is supposed to come with me appears reluctant to take off. While an incoming section from my old squadron loses a machine which crashes near Hawkinge, for no apparent reason. Perhaps my companion was wise to stay on the ground. I carry on alone after a few circuits, and my companion eventually shows up. We run into some scripted bandits - just a couple of 109s, apparently - and in the ensuing tussle I get one, but another crashes. Not to be outdone, my companion, whom he was chasing, crashes too. Who made up the other losses, I have no idea. I actually manage to shoot down a 109. They have an odd way of flying when chased, constantly adjusting their bank angle with what seems excessive ease, which if nothing else makes them a more difficult target. Perhaps the reason you do not see anything like that in real gun camera footage is because the ones that didn't do that are the ones that didn't get shot down. Though the laws of aerodynamics may have more to do with the apparent absence of the odd banking behaviour. Soon afterwards, I run into a couple of Messerschmitt 110s. I nail one of these, too. Their evasive moves seem more realistic, with little or none of the continual changes of bank angle that 109s exhibit. Here's my victim just as he bites the dust. I then have a go at this 110's wingman... ...but predictably, I run out of ammo. I find it takes a while to 'get your eye in' with the gunnery any new sim you play, and it doesn't help much if you're jumping between at least two (CloD and BoB2, in my case). I confess that my shooting in CloD is pretty dire at the moment, for which this fellow was doubtless grateful. I then decide to resume my transit flight and head for the deck while throwing in a few changes of course. This is where I learn the hard way not to write off the CloD air-to-air AI. The next thing I know, there's this 'whomp-whomp-whomp' sound - apart from some of the R/T calls, sound is one of CloD's strengths - and tracers and their smoke trails are whizzing overhead past my canopy. My effort to get out of the way fails miserably. The only results are a missing wingtip... ...and a dead pilot. Here's the beggar who got me and avenged his comrade. The thin trail of fuel or Glycol shows that I did him some damage before I ran out of rounds. There were several other 110s in the air... ...as well as these Wimpeys, which although apparently over friendly territory, were taking a bit of a chance beettling about over southern England in daylight at this point in the war. As in the Battle of Heligoland Bight in '39, the 109s and 110s would have probably had them for breakfast. Happily, I see that you can re-fly failed missions such as this, and that's what I'll be doing. I'm still very disappointed that the obvious effort that has been put into CloD by the original developers and later helping hands has left so very many rough edges. Had all the included features worked well, or even adequately, Cliffs of Dover could have been the contender for sim greatness that some of its adherents rather blithely claim. But in anything like its current form, it lags very far behind Battle of Britain II as an effective and convincing simulation of flying air combat in the Battle of Britain. Still, CloD has enough redeeming qualities to keep its place on my hard drive.

    I was mistaken about this; the A-6A already has an internal chaff dispenser and the A-6E has internal chaff, flares and ECM. I was actually thinking of the 66 Thud, which I'd read could take both chaff and flares via a hardpoint dispenser by the early 70's. I was doing a what-if of the RCAF in the North Atlantic, where the procurement team weren't theoretically as bone headed/cheap and selected the Thud over the F-104 Starfighter. I used Sundowner's "The Other CF-105" mod. It was a mission of Thuds out of Keflavik to attack a USSR ship, where all my wingmen got shot down. Anyhow, good thing it got me investigating the DATA.INIs, because now my RCAF 66 Thuds have counter measures. :)

    Lockheed F-104C Starfighter - 'Getti Tonanti', 5th Aerobrigata, Aeronautica Militare, 1960 Entering service in February 1958 with the 83rd Fighter Interceptor Squadron at Hamilton AFB, California the F-104A interceptor served only briefly with the USAF Air Defense Command but this was soon followed by the multi-role F-104C which entered service with USAF Tactical Air Command in September 1958 when the 479th Tactical Fighter Wing at George AFB, California began to re-equip with the type. Despite setting a new world altitude record of 103,395 ft (31,515 m) just a few months later in December 1958 the USAF sharply reduced their orders for the F-104 leading Lockheed to urgently seek export orders and they soon gained an export order from the Italian Government in January 1960 for 40 F-104C's for the Aeronautica Militare. With Italy hosting the Olympic Games in the late summer of 1960, the Italian President Giovanni Gronchi personally asked the US President Dwight D. Eisenhower for the earliest possible delivery date as he wanted to use the F-104C's as part of the opening ceremony. Not only did 'Ike' graciously agree but he also authorised the immediate transfer of 10 F-104C's from USAF stocks which were airlifted to Europe during February and March being reassembled at Ramstein Air Base before being flown to Villafranca Air Base by USAF pilots and officially handed over to the 5th Aerobrigata of the Aeronautica Militare. The F-104C's replaced the F-84F Thunderstreaks of the 'Getti Tonanti' aerobatic display team and this elite unit performed a sensational display at both the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games of the XVII Olympiad held in Rome from August 25th to September 11th, 1960.

    delete the mods folder, NOT the exe!! (unless you used an exe other than the NA one) When you (re)start your ODS.exe, it'll rebuild a new mods folder. Then, you all the ODS stuff from you downloaded. Since they're carriers involved, I'd HIGHLY recomend building it from the SF2:NA executable. Better carrier coding in that exe
