Microsoft Set To Purchase CombatACE It's no secret Microsoft is looking to expand its services and enhance overall user experience by purchasing companies such as Discord. While such moves may seem obvious to most, one move Microsoft is making has many in the tech industry wondering about the things Microsoft is planning next. To the members here at CombatACE are familiar with developers such as ThirdWire and Eagle Dynamics. Earlier this month Microsoft attempted to purchase Eagle Dynamics and take over the DCS World many have to come to love. However Eagle Dynamics told Microsoft to step off and tinker with their little flight simulator. Microsoft angrily shook their fist at Eagle Dynamics and then pointed to a lone developer somewhere in Texas and announced they would purchase his humble company called ThirdWire. When it comes to big companies like Microsoft purchasing companies like ThirdWire a lot of footwork is done. While doing their research Microsoft learned about other sites they can buy to enhance their user experience. CombatACE is the top of their list and Microsoft is pleased to see a humble community filled with amazing people, programmers, and mod developers. "It's like all these things we wanted rolled into one little package" said William J Tinsdale Vlll "CombatACE will make a fine addition to our collection." But what will this mean for the users at CombatACE? To answer that question we reached out to the man himself. @Erik "Well at first I was against it" Erik stated "We built a thriving community for ourselves and not some corporate giant just to come in and take over and do whatever they want with it." So, okay, so why is Microsoft buying CombatACE if that's the case? "When someone offers you a free slightly used $200 million private jet with a full crew, free fuel, and millions of dollars for the pocket. You just gotta ask where to sign you know. Besides do you know how hard it is to run a website as large as CombatACE on a daily basis? It's rewarding work but it's hard work and if Microsoft want's to take over I'm cool with that. This jet is awesome and I have a surprise for all of the long time members here. They can get 1 free trip." Looking nice there man! An inside look the dining area "Regardless of the direction Microsoft chooses to take" Erik explains "they've assured me they'll continue to maintain the aspects that make CombatACE a great website. It is my hopes the community will continue to thrive and that people will get a kick out of this obvious April Fool's article entirely made up by Skyviper" Seriously @Erik, @MK2 , Mod Developers, CombatACE Staff and Members, thank you for making this site the awesome place it is.

A few days back I indicated that I would announce some plans for WOTR. It is intended that there will be a DLC in the works to bring the 'engine' up to the same spec as our flagship BH&H II product which is releasing soon. The DLC will comprise of the 'engine update' - this is feasible as a DLC as opposed to a new standalone product, as WOTR is already ahead of WOFFUE/PE in terms of 'engine version'. In addition there will be new AC, as well as updated existing flyable AC to bring them in line as well. More details on the WOTR DLC will be made available once we have gotten through the release of BH&HII.

Just a quick update from me on progress. The BH&H II release build is compiled and uploaded to 2Checkout, our e-tailer, but alas they have not managed to make it live, as we had hoped, before the Easter weekend. I will keep you all updated but its next week at the soonest at the moment, and all I can say is that at the moment it is out of our hands. WM

Well you know me, I am always looking forward and ready for new adventures. LOL I am thinking of financing a new project, again, a Russian plane, but a new one this time, the YAK-130. I asked around and I am waiting for an answer; if the team is ready and the price is right maybe I'll make it happen.. Please tell me what do you think and what plane did you have in YOUR mind it should be build.

I'm kind of hoping that this may yet turn out to be an "April Fools", but I will appreciate not ending up biting my nails off completely over the weekend if it doesn't turn up today :)

Nice! But why not cut your losses, chaps, and use a more effective British design? ..as happened in real life :) “Cranberry” Wrench? That was our alternate name for them. In my time they were better known as “Berrycans”. BTW, sidenote, the British smirked somewhat when Martin manufactured its B-57s to far tighter tolerance margins than our own Berrycans, for no discernible difference in performance. Fast forward to the early 2000s’, when BAe’s attempts to attach new Nimrod MR4 CAD/CAM-made wings to 1960s/70s hand-manufactured Nimrod MR2 fuselages ended in tears*. Perhaps the American approach to manufacturing tolerances (choking on my scotch here) may actually have been the right one? * sooo bloody frustrating, If only they’d spoken to any flight sergeant/chief tech on the Nimrod fleet, they’d have told them how each airframe was subtly different. Personally (as an air mover) I recall how we all knew that a couple of our VC10s were a “bit different” from the rest. In Nimrod’s case, could have meant that Britain would have retained its extremely efficient MPA capability without the unfortunate 10-year gap until the acquisition - at significant extra cost - of the arguably less-capable P-8 Poseidon. End of rant. PS for Spinners, apologies for wandering off topic. Again. Consequences of being an aviation type for >50 years 😉😉

As Wrench wrote, you must repaint all water tiles. The sea tile is a minor problem, you can take this file from an other terrain, as you want. But the problem are the coast tiles. Every single coast tile you must repaint. If not the terrain will look strange.

Okay completed the new Junk model I will upload it by tomorrow.

Some time ago I had the same idea but with a smaller map, covering Colombia Venezuela and the ABC Islands, but I got stuck with the map... problem adding rivers targets tiles... and a very particular issue, sometimes the game went crazy and the planes started to fly sideways... I made some models that we didnt have here, like the Arpia IV (an armed UH-60 of the Colombian Air force) new skins for venezuelan F-16, K-8, UN-1n and my loved ones: Antey 2500 an Buk M2... Maybe I could start again this project but the terrain making is really an art.

Fellow WOFFers and WOTRers may now download, below, my various Enhancement Packages, GPU Tuners, etc., for the WoFF/WoTR series of sims. "Read Me" files are included in the bigger zipped packages. All packages are JSGME-friendly. This post now includes my small FrankenBHAH Enhancement Hardcore Addon (Ver. 1.15) and that is an optional addon for the main FrankenBHAH Enhancement Package Ver. 1.1 linked to in a separate post below, in this thread. For detailed info. regarding the Hardcore Addon, please see the included "Read Me" file in the relevant, zipped file. In short, the Hardcore Addon makes for more challenging regular flying and dogfights in BH&H2. The Hardcore Addon should always be loaded after - not before - the main FrankenBHAH Enhancement Package Ver. 1.1. The Hardcore Addon Ver. 1.15 is not compatible with the WOTR Enhancement Package. Also included here is my FrankenMiniTuner Ver. 1.2 and that is a compatible add-on to the WOTR Enhancement and FrankenBHAH Enhancement Packages (to install the FrankenMiniTuner, unzip it and place the relevant folder located inside "FrankenMiniTunersVer1.2inside_VonS" - and that is labeled either for BHAH2 or WOTR - into your MODS directory for BH&H2 or WOTR, and make sure to load it only after - not before - the relevant Enhancement Package, allowing the Tuner to replace identical files in that package). The FrankenMiniTuner squeezes out just a bit more FPS than is possible with the base Enhancement Package installs. WOFF (Platinum Ed./BH&H2-compatible) GPU Tuner Patch VonS_WOFFgpuTunerPatchFolderInside.zip WOTR (Phase One) Enhancement Package Ver. 1.0 WOTRenhancementPackageVer1.0_VonS.zip WOTR (Phase Two) Enhancement Package (compatible only with Phase Two of WOTR, the BoF Expansion; see "Read Me" included in Phase One Enhancement for details) WOTRphase2enhancementPackage_VonS.zip WOTR (Phase Three - "Unfriendly Skies") Enhancement Package (compatible only with the "Unfriendly Skies" upgrade to WOTR BoF) WOTRphase3enhancementPackage_VonS.zip WOTR (Phase One) GPU Tuner Patch (obsolete - recommended instead are the WOTR Enhancement Packages located above for Phase One, Two or "Unfriendly Skies" of WOTR) VonS_WOTRgpuTunerPatchFolderInside.zip FrankenBHAH Enhancement Hardcore Addon Ver. 1.15 (compatible only with the FrankenBHAH Enhancement Package Ver. 1.1, and should be loaded only after that package) FrankenBHAHenhancementHardcoreAddonVer1.15_VonS.zip FrankenMiniTuner Ver. 1.2 (compatible with the WOTR Phase One/Two and FrankenBHAH Ver. 1.1 Enhancement Packages, and should be loaded only after those packages; not to be used with WOFF OTT or WOTR "Unfriendly Skies" since the tuner has been revised and included already in the relevant packages for OTT/"Unfriendly Skies") FrankenMiniTunersVer1.2inside_VonS.zip Performance tips/info. on the stock Hurricane and Spitfire, MK.I, available at the following links: https://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/4501461/re-ai-have-better-engines#Post4501461 https://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/4501695/re-ai-have-better-engines#Post4501695 For a revised ver. of Lou's excellent "Italy Mod" for the WoFF series, please see the relevant post above in this thread. For other WoFF UE/PE (and BH&H2)-related mods., such as custom shader/preset files, also the FrankenBHAH Enhancement Package, etc., please see the next several posts below. ** For my FM tweaks for the WoFF/WoTR series, please see the main download page that links to this support thread (scroll to the first post in this thread for more info.) - also take note that you need to have an account on CombatAce in order to download the FM tweaks package. WoFF/WoTR-related mods. available under this support thread, on the other hand, do not require an account and may be downloaded by clicking on relevant download links. ** IMPORTANT NOTE: all of my WOFF-related mods. were tested across various patches of WOFF UE (4.18 in particular), PE (5.03 in particular), and also BH&H2 up to the "Recon. Wars" patch 1.36. I will no longer be providing public service information updates regarding my mod.-compatibility and/or WOFF-patch version compatibility on Intel Macs, so tweak/patch as per taste since the mods. are from now on provided "as is," with no further support beyond any Read Me files included with the mods. My WOTR-related mods. have been tested up to "Unfriendly Skies" so tweak/patch as per taste if you will be upgrading beyond the patch nos. indicated in this note. ** For compatibility info. regarding my various (older) WOTR GPU Tuners and Phase Two of WOTR, see the following post. Also relevant is this post. And further recommended is this follow-up post. ** This note was originally included in this particular post on Apr. 1, 2022, and modified on Nov. 22, 2024. Good WoFFing/WoTRing to you, Von S
